Current issuesApps can't request root because of limit of project astoria. I'm working on it.
ProcedurePerform an Hard reset first.
After settings up, deploy Root Tool.
Go to Lumia Registry Editor, click on navbar > templates and then select all.
Close the app and go to settings > Update and security > For developers.
Enable developer mode and click on Discovery. It should show to you the pin.
Download Astoria Tools.rar
Extract it.
Open that extracted folder.
You should see wconnect and so on.
On the "void" area, make SHIFT + Right click, and then click to "Open Command prompts here".
Write wconnect usb and write the pin.
After this, download AOW shortcut.7z in the attachment, extract it, copy that in your phone, example "Phone\Documents"
Now, go to your phone and open File Explorer. Open Documents and click on Aow shortcut
Go to RootFS directory and delete the file init.
Warning, there are 2 files, you need to delete "init.rc", it has about 20-19 KB.
Restart now your phone.
Keep it plugged on computer and wait about 5 minutes. it should you show "Windows Phone" device connection.
Open it and go to: Data\Users\DefApps\APPDATA\Local\Aow\RootFS
Download from Astoria folder link, the latest Rootkit & Gapps version.
Extract it.
Copy ALL Files to the phone (Data\Users\DefApps\APPDATA\Local\Aow\RootFS).
It ask you if you want to replace/merge files. Say Yes.
Press yes if it show this to you:
After you finished you need to set MTP to the standard path.
Download CustomPFD and deploy it.
Open that app.
Navigate to TWEAKS PAGE and click to General tweaks.
Navigate to UTILITIES: check FULL FS ACCESS and uncheck again.
Restart your phone.
Download Superuser.rar and extract it on Astoria tools folder.
After boot, connect to your pc and install superuser.apk (adb install superuser.apk)
After installation, you can launch the command "adb shell" and as you can see you are a root user
I'm really destroyed but at the same time happy
THANKSdjamol and ngame for his Interop Unlock method/app.
Marocco2 for his help.
snickler for his help.
Pasqui industry for making CustomPFD.
(I forgot someone?)
And all member of XDA and the world itself
Download
Astoria Folder (Astoria Tools - AOW shortcut - Rootkit & gapps): http://astoriafolder.adeltax.com (Redirect to mediafire)
Attached some files because of problem with mediafire (stupid block)
-- EDIT --
If you have problem with installing APK after root, go to your phone and delete packageinstaller.odex using Aow shortcut and going to RootFS > System > app folder (The lowest size, approx 153 KB)

GAPPS Section
Not yet, still working on it.

Here will be my "research"

U are my hero o/

Happy rooting

Ah so you actually have to delete the init.rc files and wait for them to reproduce? That's why! Awesome job. I can't wait to test this out @ADeltaX

I can then the Google Play Store etc. properly use and also

Not yet. For now it's very hard to resolve an "issue".

@ADeltaX, have you tried Insecure root or insecure su binary? The su binary that doesn't rely on a root management app like SuperSU? Because we can get direct root access on an app instantly if it requests for root with that...

Can we get a custom android with root now?

Got to final Stage now im getting an error code 14 Problem booting Astoria
Using Lumia Icon (929) on OS 10166

Nope, you need to edit Hyper-v library (and this is impossible)

Retry and replace the folder again.

Nope, Sincerely I never heard about insecure SU binary.
The SU version is a modded one, because if I use the SuperSU version, on invoking SU it say "segmentation fault" --> mean something doesn't work like shared object (library aka .so).

Someone can compile strace binary for armeabi/armeabi-v7a?
At this time Virtual Box doesn't want to start (I have Linux Mint in VM with AOSP source).

Some Chinese tablets I fix had insecure su... How did I know? When I adb shell it's already # . Or those only work with adb and not apps requiring su permission?

[UPDATED-06-APR-2011] New XAP installer, in-place app update, no dev tool and more...

Please download XAPDeployX-V0.9.zip, it is the latest and greatest version
If you have any of the 0x89xxxx errors, please download the attached "vs_sdeprolightup-enu.zip" file and run it.
Hi,
attached you'll find a new XAP installer which has quite a few unique selling points.
- In-place update on the phone: In-place update on the phone, e.g. if you already have Version 1.0.0.0 of an app installed on the phone and install 1.0.2.0 an in-place update will performed. No more full "uninstall-new install" cycle required. Your settings, custom files etc. won't be removed (same as marketplace update)
- CoreCon2 based, e.g. Phone Dev Tools are no longer required for application deployment!
- Deploy from file or URL: You can either specify a file or an URL. If you enter an URL the installer will automatically download the xap.
- Own protocol "wphome": Zune's one-click download for homebrew apps. Automatically install homebrew XAPs with a click on a hyperlink. If you want, you can register the application for the wphome protocol. The application will then be allowed to handle urls like wphome:www.test.com/test.xap and will automatically start as soon as you click on such a link.

To be able to use "wphome" hyperlinks, you have to click on "Register protocol..." once.
wphome Testlink: wphome:http://www.nextbestgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/helloworld.xap (for testing after you've installed the tool and registered it for the protocol)
After you've opened a XAP file, details will be shown in the top bar.
This is the first step in my plan to provide a homebrew marketplace.
Updated V0.6 - 1-APR-2011
+ Full Log
+ Multiple tweaks, bugfixes
Updated V0.7 - 2-APR-2011
+ CoreCon2 based, e.g. Phone Dev Tools are no longer required for application deployment! [*]
+ Drag'n'Drop support. Just drag and drop any xap from explorer to the tool.
[*] You need a working CoreCon2 installation. If CoreCon2 is not installed on your pc (normally only installed with the Phone Dev Tool) the tool will detect it and download a small installer.
Updated V0.8 - 2-APR-2011
+ Fixed "No addional data: Could not extract XAP file" Bug
+ XAP-Information is show much faster now
+ CoreCon2 Installer now online. You won't need the full Phone Dev Tools for this XAP Deployer
Updated V0.9 - 6-APR-2011
+ Selected Target will now be automatically saved
+ Deploy-Menu for XAP files. Registers a file handler for *.xap and provides a "Deploy" menu entry in file's context menu.
General Prerequisits
- Phone has to be unlocked (either dev, chevron or any other method)
- Zune has to be running and has to be connected to the phone
- Windows Vista or Windows 7, according to users: Windows XP
Regards,
-k
nice
+1 for this step into homebrew marketplace creating ;D
edit: some xaps show info, others dont show info and just say "done" when trying to deploy.
awsome job.
+1 as well
@diboze: Can you provide a xap which doesn't show info? (XNA Apps might not show an image but name, description, version & author should always be shown)
"Done" means -> Deployment finished
The app does currently not check if the Max Apps limit is reached. Therefore done means either "deployment finished" or "could not deploy because max apps is reached".
UPDATE V06 - 1-APR-2011:
- There is no "Done" anymore. You have a full-fledged activity log now.
- Max App error is now reported in log
-k
Thanks for your time.. hopefully this develops further. Your most recent was done on April 1, 2011 right? and not 2010..
Awesome stuff man!
I'm going to assume that in order to successfully deploy, you still need the Windows Phone Dev Tools installed, right?
Otherwise, it's a really great looking and convenient app. I look forward to more updates.
Fantastic... thanks, gonna try it

ChevronWP7 unlocker doesn't work on NoDo. In order for this to be useful beyond a niche number of users, there needs to be a way to easily unlock the phonse so that XAPs can be deployed.
I see no mention of that in the OP.
Why list a good app on that for free (if it's not free it will get pirated with the XAP being there for everyone) when you can just list it on Zune Market place for 99 cents and make some money. For responsible adults the fee to join the developer program isn't that bad.
V0.7 will only require CoreCon installed

Glad you've asked. Version V0.7 will no longer use the SmartDevice.ConnectivityDll but will talk to CoreCon (ConMan2) direct. This way you'll only need a ~4MB download to deploy successfully and won't have to download the Dev Tools package.

Yes, looks like there are some XAPs around which have a different ZIP-Header value. Besides not showing the name, image & description this message shouldn't have influence to the deployment capabilities.
BUT: I've replaced the ZIP stack and now any XAP-file can be read. The reading is even a lot faster.
Therefore: FIXED
In addition:
CoreCon2 installer is also online -> if you don't have the Phone Dev Tools already installed you won't have to just for XAP deployment. XAPDeployX installs a minimal set of required files (< 1MB) on its own.

I get the Following:
Deployment started Fable: Coin Golf

Application Fable: Coin Golf not yet installed. Full-install cycle.
Deployment FAILED with the following ERROR:
Installation of the application failed. XAP package signature is not valid or the WP manifest file is invalid. Re-sign with valid signature and fix the manifest file.

Based on the error message, you've tried to deploy a non-homebrew xap, e.g. a xap file downloaded from zune marketplace. These files are digitally signed and cannot be deployed as the tool does not remove any security measures.

I really like it too, I have never seen anything even similar to it.
Do you happen to know any other windows file explorers which are even somewhat similar?
(not counting the wifi apps from the playstore which uses internet for basic & slow file copy)
As far as anything close to ADB Commander? No I dont. I know of these, which more just an adb with a easy friendly ui. But nothing even close to AC and its file manager and ui

UPDATED 12/30/2014
NOW ON GITHUB:
https://github.com/eudemonics/1plus1toolkit
NOW WITH MORE UNIVERSAL FEATURES TO SUPPORT ALL ANDROID DEVICES!
THERE IS A REASON THIS IS CALLED THE HALF-ASSED ONEPLUS ONE TOOLKIT. don't expect frequent regular updates. i respond to support queries when i receive them, which means whenever i check my email or log onto xda-dev, which is not very often. though i do update it every now and then. now that it's on github, you can actually get updates without me having to go update the threads on every forum to make the announcement about it being updated.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. i'm not responsible for anything that might happen to your device as a result of using the toolkit. if you use the correct files in the package and follow the toolkit directions onscreen, your device should be just fine. i assume if you have the technical know-how to install python, the android SDK, and run the script, then you've got a pretty good idea of what you're doing already. if you need help, send me a message. the best way to reach me, to get the quickest response, is probably on facebook, as i do not log onto xda-developers or my email accounts regularly:
http://www.facebook.com/dreamcorporation
[***this project was originally posted in the Oneplus One "General" forum, as i'd assumed "Original Android Development" was restricted to ROMs, apps, and themes. i finally read the rules, though, so i hope my toolkit is useful/creative enough to qualify to be here. i could use some beta testers if anyone's brave enough to volunteer - doesn't have to be on the oneplus one, as i am adding more and more functionality to support all android devices. am also open to ideas and suggestions - if you want any features built, just ask. maybe i'll code it for you, and give you credit for the idea too.]
REQUIREMENTS: python 2.7, android SDK, opotoolkit.py, opointro.py pyadb.py. and of course, a machine running ANY OS that supports python and the android SDK (OSX, Windows, Linux, maybe even Chromium OS?)
installation:
download and install python 2.7: https://www.python.org/downloads/
download and install android SDK: https://developer.android.com/sdk/
download toolkit package using GIT:
git clone https://github.com/eudemonics/1plus1toolkit.git 1plus1toolkit
to run from there:
cd 1plus1toolkit
python opotoolkit.py
to update:
git pull https://github.com/eudemonics/1plus1toolkit.git
it should work with the adb and fastboot binaries provided in the github project (*****if on linux rename adb to adb-mac, fastboot to fastboot-mac, adb-linux to adb, and fastboot-linux to fastboot*****), but if not, you should install the android SDK. i recommend even MORE that you create an environmental path variable to the android SDK so you can run the commands from any directory.
setting up an environmental path variable (optional - recommended):
if you're on windows you can go to my pastebin, find the only powershell script on there, and steal/adapt the code to create your own environment path variable. but it's much easier to configure in system properties - i'm not on windows right now so these may not be exact instructions, but you should be able to right click on "my computer", select "properties", go to the "environment" tab in system settings, and add the environment path there. linux and OSX users just need to add the android SDK directory to their ~/.bash_profile or ~/.bashsrc or wherever environment paths are defined. if you still don't understand environmental path variables or symbolic links, i highly recommend google (or startpage.com, the private version).
if you don't want to go to the trouble of creating the environmental path variables, and you want to use the android SDK on your computer, then just extract all the files from the ZIP into your android SDK directory.
how to run the toolkit:
plug phone to computer via USB, turn on android debugging.
open command prompt or terminal window to scripts directory. start toolkit by entering:
"python opotoolkit.py"
if everything is installed and in the right places, you should see a menu like the attached screenshot. if for some reason you get a permission denied error, try launching the command prompt or terminal as administrator or superuser.
i'll continue working on it and adding more when i can so keep checking this space. everything's open source; use, share, steal whatever you want from the code. some credit would be nice, though.
you can use the pyadb.py library to incorporate adb/fastboot commands into your own python projects. i'll be adding more features to that, but for now most of the common features are covered.
here's the github link - it still won't acknowledge my repository exists, and if i try to create it again locally it gives me a fatal error. [[email protected]#[email protected]#] let's just say github and i are not exactly BFF's. you can check to see if the files ever manage to appear: https://github.com/eudemonics/1plus1toolkit
i've been working to expand this so it can be used with all android devices, though it'll require people to supply their own device files to use with it! just because the toolkit can flash device firmware DOES NOT MEAN that the included files meant for the oneplus one will work on a NON oneplus one device! hopefully that's not something i needed to emphasize. if there is enough positive feedback and support i'll create a GUI since people like to click things more than type into a terminal window
not gonna bug you for donations - all my code is open source - if you'd like to donate, please do so by purchasing my EP. hey, you might even like the music, too:
buy it here: http://dreamcorp.bandcamp.com
or search for it on itunes, google play, amazon, spotify, last.fm, cdbaby, and so on.

It's also quite nice to understand how the Python works as everything is open-sourced in Python without privatized code. Good for educational purposes.
But yeah, I get why you'd say that, haha!

How it works:
1. Each boot.img packs zImage (real kernel) and ramdisk (special files for kernel use)
2. This one has all modifications from LGGW rootboot by Justin Case:
a. Adds su binary, superuser.sh install script, modified install-recovery.sh and additional step into init.rc file to invoke superuser.sh install script. Also modifications to mount system as rw and some disabled security.
3. So basically it mount system as rw and does following (cut from superuser.sh install script):
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
/system/bin/sleep 2
/system/bin/cat /sbin/su > /system/xbin/su
/system/bin/cat /sbin/su > /system/xbin/daemonsu
/system/bin/cat /sbin/install-recovery.sh > /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
/system/bin/chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su
/system/bin/chown 0.0 /system/xbin/daemonsu
/system/bin/chown 0.0 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
/system/bin/chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
/system/bin/chmod 06755 /system/xbin/daemonsu
/system/bin/chmod 755 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
/system/bin/sync
/system/bin/sleep 3
/system/bin/reboot
I have dumped the rom from my debug/test version and was wondering if you were able to give me a guide on how i could try and flash it with a retail version? I presume this root guide probably won't work for me
Well, if hardware and partitions are the same - I do not see why it will not work. However, it will not help to flash.
I might try to compile twrp, but will have to carefully read its docs first.
thanks @XorZone confirmed as working and a nice easy process too (I was already unlocked).
Out of curiosity, modded LGGW rootboot or just renamed?

Thanks for letting me know!
I reverse engineered changes in LGGW by unpacking and comparing ramdisks from both rootboot and original lg kernel and then applied the same changes to our kernel extracted from PC Companion files.
great thinking and good job ?
btw, that pic confirmed su access to watch over bluetooth debug connection ?
really great tutorial. I am planning to buy this watch, but I think currently there is NO app that requires Root. so I wonder how can we get benefit of this ?

There is at least Wear Control app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=octathorp.wearcontrol
I plan to code density changer that will require access to adb, so either from rooted phone or rooted wear.

that's awesome man! will purchase mine next week, can't wait to root it. thanks for the answer.
Thanks for the root, XorZone. For anyone wondering, here's the dmesg of the watch
A few small observations from digging:
The main chipset seems to be the BCM23550
The CPU has 4 cores, 2 are disabled in software. Should be easy enough to reenable if you please
It definitely has WiFi hardware, but the firmware is currently missing from the image. If you mange to get a hold of compatible firmware and nvram, it should be simple enough to get WiFi up and running
The WiFi firmware message mentions a "43341". Which is odd because apparently the main chipset does have WiFi support built in. Searching for a Broadcom 43341 gives you this, but this might just be a red herring.

Yeah, I noticed the same about WiFi chip, it might be that they packed bcm43341 as part of the BCM23550 soc, like Invensense MPU9250 chip packs mpu6500 inside.
For the 43341 I'm finding it in the configs here: https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/tegra/+/bdde9f16131a5ac2039062d5ce22e3e153acbe68^!/
Looks like BCM43341 is BCM4334 + NFC chip, so we could try S3 I9300 files as per http://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/GalaxyS3I9300Firmwares
how can i grant superuser permission to an app? i install es file explorer with sideload but i can't get superuser permission. the procedure is ok

I can not get my device to show up in adb devices and its driving me crazy. Tried windows 7/8/server 2012R2 ..lol
Now I have done my fair share of custom roms and bootloaders.
OG Droid
Nexus
Nexus 10
Asus Memo Pad (came from alarm company, and could only load one app...now its a full running tablet)
I am sure its a silly thing I have done or am missing...
Thoughts....ideas?..need more info?

As usual, check if adb enabled in settings-about-developer options, if there are no developer options - it is as usual 7 times click on build number in about screen.
And please use Q&A thread for such questions
I've confirmed root survives the Lollipop update
Wow, I was out whole weekend, will have to catch up with the update

[HOWTO]Fix the "keyboard missing" problem for Android apps in Windows 10 Mobile 10512

[HOWTO]Fix the "keyboard missing" problem for Android apps in Windows 10 Mobile 10512
Just install (using adb shell pm install) "MicrosoftInputMethod.apk" from attachment, and you're done.
Reboot the device after installation (I don't know if it's really needed)
Installation method:
adb push "C:/path/to/MicrosoftInputMethod.apk" /sdcard/MicrosoftInputMethod.apk
adb shell
pm install /sdcard/MicrosoftInputMethod.apk
Notes:
-Make sure to always use forward slashes ( / ) in every path.If you use backward slashes ( \ ), you'll get an error;
-if you use adb install "C:/path/to/MicrosoftInputMethod.apk", you will get [INTERNAL_AGENT_ERROR] error.Use adb shell pm install "C:/path/to/MicrosoftInputMethod.apk";
-If the attachment is downloaded as a .zip file, change its extension to .apk
Troubleshooting:
You can check if it's installed using some application that shows installed apps (i.e.: Shortcut Master (Lite))....
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If it's installed but keyboard doesn't appear, try the following:
-Install "Shortcut Master (Lite)" (attached to this very post) using adb install "C:/path/to/org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite-0.apk" . DON'T use pm install to install an application with an User Interface that should be available from menu;
-Open it, and touch the three dots in the upper right corner;
-Choose "Search";
-Click on "Enter text to search", and see if keyboard appears;
If yes, open the application where keyboard wasn't appearing, and see if it appears after that;
Best regards
i Will test ....now
Edit 1 : not working....i reboot
Édit 2 : after rebooting...not working topo

Nokia Lumia 930?
Are you just doing
adb install path\to\MicrosoftInputMethod.apk

Can you check if "Microsoft Input Method" is running?

For the last error you posted (Failure [INTERNAL_AGENT_ERROR]), you couldn't install it.
Have you tried to install any other apk to see if apk installation isn't messed up for your phone?
Have you tried the Google Play stuff?If yes, chances are it corrupted something in your phone.

Probably some installation has affected your phone.

If you happen to reset the phone, try to install microsoftinputmethod as the first apk...

It's a working apk....I've just downloaded it and comparated it byte-to-byte with the one I had installed before: no difference between both files
