[Q] Wifi drains my battery life - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

I've been using my Note 5 for a week and a half now. Like anyone else when I get home from work I switch from LTE to my home wifi (Linksys EA9200 Triband) the main bands I connect to are: 2.4hz( For it better range) band and the 5hzAC(When im close to the router for faster speed). I leave the phone connected all night even as I sleep. From what noticed the battery drains faster when connected to either band by as much as 10% - 15%. I had this same issue with the Note 4. I'm currently in the middle of testing out how much more the battery lasts by using LTE instead while I'm home. I've searched online but, couldn't find anything about Samsung devices and this particular router not playing well together. I attached my current LTE stats so far for today. Normally by now if I was connected to wifi for the same amount of time as it shows below I would be @ 82% battery. Someone please help I'm yanking out my hair here..

strictly LTE

The interactive governor is what's killing our battery so fast. As for the WiFi drain I'm not sure but it's probably because of the ac mode we can't turn off. As long as the phone detects 5ghz it will try to connect. Eating battery. Also turn off HD voice and save some battery!

What i find funny is that i only see this happen on wifi. On LTE i get really good battery life ironically.

Try disabling 5ghz on your router and test that.

This is a very good app for monitoring power consumption.
Oh and did you set wifi to always be on or only when charging?

I'm actually using the 2.4ghz band and I'm seeing this drain effecting "Android System" causing it to sky rocket which is the main culprit.

Yeah, I get the same thing while on any and all wi-fi connections. I drain a lot more in idle on wi-fi than just LTE. At home and work I have 4-5 bars signal LTE as well and Wi-Fi signal is very strong. Cell Standby and Android System are near top of the list on Wi-Fi. HD voice is off. When just on LTE, cell standby is like 1% and near bottom of my battery list.

I'm not having any issues with wifi draining my battery fast. Make sure you have Smart Network Switch off.

I have the same issue on WiFi....it is killing my battery. Approximately 6 hours of idle while sleeping and it kills 42% of battery. I get great life on LTE. Turning WiFi off is not a solution as lot of people are on tiered data plans. Never had this issue on my other phones (even on Lollipop). On WiFi - Cell Standby and Android system are battery hogs. Also, when I put WiFi on....I see both WiFi and 4G on my phone...not something that happened on other Lollipop device.

This wifi drain is killing me

I have too this "bug". I bought a few days ago the phone and thought I had a faulty battery before reading this post, because in standby in one night I lost 30% of battery.
So I did some tests and have seen that the problem of the battery drain does not occur when the WiFi is off.
I write them:
TEST:
Night 1) Sim Tim (3G/2G Auto) (network signal excellent)
Wifi Off; Sync On; Geo On (WiFi and mobile networks)
Standby power consumption: 1% for h
Night 2) Sim Tim (3G/2G Auto) (network signal excellent)
WiFi Off; Sync On; Geo Off
Standby power consumption: 0,75% for h
Night 3) Sim H3G (3G only) (network signal poor)
WiFi Off; Sync Off; Geo Off
Standby power consumption: 0.5% for h
Night 4) Sim H3G (3G only) (network signal poor)
WiFi ON; Sync Off; Geo Off
Standby power consumption: 2.5 % for h, for a total of 20% in 8 h.
With synchronization and geolocation ON, consumption probably double.
Has anyone solved this problem? the only solution is to hope for a fix by Samsung with the release of Marshmallow?

Bump. What he said ^^^^

Im still dealing with this particular drain
Sent from my Awesome Note Cinco

Wifi drain is bad as well. Only solution which is more of a compromise is setting keep wifi on during sleep only when plugged in. However by far the worst drain comes from Bluetooth. I can easily lose 30 or more % overnight while not connected to any Bluetooth devices.

@Mikes30000 @lordandroid Have you ever tried a custom kernel to solve the problem?

We are on ATT and thus cannot root or install ROMs/Kernels. But both WiFi and Bluetooth are battery killers for me. Maybe marshmallow will do something for us.

I'm on Marshmallow and have the same Wi-Fi battery drain (1.8 - 2% per hour) with nothing that uses connection in the background.

Anybody here found the solution?
I have it same here, on Marshmallow.
Wifi drain overnight is higher than on Cellular by a large margin. Talking of 0.5% drain on cellular per hour whole night to 2% per hour whole night.....

I just stumbled on this same phenomenon. I have flashed my note 5 with the excellent Note 7 port and was monitoring battery usage with no apps installed.
I started at 9:00am this morning checking every hour. Wifi was turned on but not connected, as was bluetooth. By Noon I only lost 3% battery (Down to 97%) then I connected to the wifi network in my office and in the next hour lost 7% (down to 90%)
I'd love to hear from anyone who has a fix for this

Actual usage (real world) battery life thread.

Before you all start to yell at me, hear me out. I always see people posting screen shots of their amazing battery life, but there's just one problem -- it's not really "real world." What I mean is that I always see people with sync off, brightness 10%, gps off, data off, and wifi on. I don't think it matters that much when a phone can last 20+ hours sitting idle with 20 minutes of screen on time. I want to see people using 3G/4G with sync, gps, bt and all the good stuff ON.
That being said, yes I have searched the forums and I couldn't really find any thread like this so here it goes. If you feel like it's a double post or anything, just let me know and I'll delete it! Thanks.
I don't have a screen shot, but the "best" battery life I can get is ~14 hours with 2 hr 30 min screen on time.

What you consider 'real world' may not be what others consider 'real world', perhaps there are some people who just don't use Bluetooth, leave WiFi on even when they have no network to connect to or have sync set up for things they don't need syncing for.
At least 4 hours screen time with:
Version: GSM GNex
ROM: AOKP Milestone 3 (power saver mode off)
Kernel: Lean Kernel
Battery: 2000 mAh
Frequency: 350/1200 Conservative
UV: Stock
3G/HSPA/LTE: 3G/HSPA and my network doesn't support 2G
What's off: BT, WiFi unless I'm home, Sync for Calender Contacts Browser and Photos.
Daily, I use: Netflix/Poweramp/Spotify/Reddit on my daily commute. Phone/Poweramp/Spotify/Reddit/Browser+ in between commute.
I know, that's why I put "real world" in quotations. Obviously people will have different uses with their phones, but I just wanted to see what people were getting in terms of battery life with 3G/HSPA/LTE actually on... most of the screen shots I see have wifi on all the time with 20 minutes of screen on time, and that's not really I'm looking for.
hmm
I'm not getting anywhere near those numbers with stock rom enough for me to remove exchange account from the phone
I got about three hours twenty a few days ago, I don't know how, I am usually lucky to get more than two. I have weather sync every four hours, push Gmail, I usually have ~10% brightness but just lately I have been using auto, which eats battery.

LTE version? Bad signal area?
Don't think I got so little even before extended battery/aokp/lean.
Pretty sure I got around 3 hours with just stock.

I hot plug core 1 when the screen is off, use aggressive SetCPU profiles, don't let anything but weather sync. It doesn't really bother me, I'm never far from a power socket!
What is the point of having bt, GPS and sync on if I don't need it? I understand the threads that have 20 minutes of screen on time are stupid, but my real world use doesn't include bt or GPS, and sync only when I need it. I'm at 43% with 2 hours of screen on time.

Totally agree with your call. We should not need to kill some service with the goal of prolonging battery life.
Real world should be defined as on a typical day, with services not intentionally shut for saving battery ,what is the battery time. For example,Facebook loading uses GPS all the time. For another example,I don't need to turn off bt with purpose of saving juice if I use them 3 times a day.
But if I never use bt for a week, it make sense to shut it.
Will monitor and put here. I am on gummy 0.7 with Francisco kernel 15.1 . With 4.0.3 LTE radio and 4.0.2 CDMA .
a disturbing note: I found the combination of above radios works the best for me,no I did not dial *288 sth

50% brightness, location services on, GPS off and I get around 3 hours of browsing. Easily makes it through my work day, which is all I care about
GSM. Everything stock and on except email sync off (annoying for me).
2.5-3.5 hrs screen time.
Standby time is excellent. Could get at least 30 hrs.
Only screenshot I have, but I tend to get at least 20 hours with regular use.
Charging my phone at night, unplugging it before I go to bed around 10, wake up, work, get home around 5pm and plug my phone back in around 10.
Screenshot has some overnight in it, but still looks good, WIFI on always, constantly losing signal because I live in a rural area.
In total standby, I could probably get more than 30.

I get 2-3 hours screen on time, that's browsing , taking pictures, YouTube, and apps.
And I get 8-12hours all up before a charge.
This is pretty good but I would say that 2-3 hours of use is light to moderate , heavy use would be 4-6 hours and for that you would need an extended battery

I agree. If it could get 4-6 it would be perfect.
But as it is now, I have to be careful to moderate my use throughout the day.

Very similar to my usage. Only had it 2 days though so haven't really fallen into a "groove" with the device yet.
GSM with the Korean 2000mah battery, I am down to around 15-20% left after 6-7 hours. Then the screen have been on for around 3 hours.
I am lucky to get 2 hours of screen on time, but most of that time is playing games. Stock GSM battery, ARHD stock kernel + MID brightness mod; WiFi on at home, BT off (rarely use it), quite crap signal at school.
I'll see what I get today and take a screenshot. I want to buy the extended battery; I won't remove the MID brightness mod, the screen would be way too dark on auto.

Exchanging mine tomorrow - battery plummeting randomly!

I've been troubleshooting this problem for weeks now - have never found a cause. I did a hard reset yesterday and have only installed the mainstream necessary apps - nothing sketchy or buggy at all.
My battery life is usually great and when unused drops less than 1% per hour...until suddenly it goes crazy and starts dropping ~10%/hour with NO USE.
I think perhaps something is wrong with my radio as the "mobile network signal" graph in the picture below is always spotty and shows the radio off for significant chunks of time when I know it's on. When these battery plunges start happening, it shows the radio as solid on, as you can see below...and reports the battery drain is from the radio.
A reboot fixes it but it comes back randomly within a day or two...the problem is that I can leave the phone unused for an hour to make dinner and when I pick it up next it has dropped a significant amount!
Hopefully AT&T will exchange it for me tomorrow and I will have better luck...I bought it on June 28th and tomorrow is July 28th...the 30th day, by my count.

16hrs on battery and still at 43% is pretty darn good if u ask me.
This has happened to me too on stock and AOKP. Just happened again a couple of hours ago.
So I did the exchange 4 days ago. Have not rebooted since then. Thought I was in the clear until this afternoon when the battery started to plummet again...I updated the screenshots in the first post with today's data. Very disappointed and not sure what to do now except to try and do a hardware reset and use the phone stock with no apps for a few days and see what happens...

I have used it extensively. Posted numerous logs and screenshots in the developer's thread and had them examine it...no one could figure anything out.
Tonight I have watched it plummet again. I turned off wifi - it kept dropping. I turned off mobile data, it kept falling just as fast. Lastly I turned on airplane mode and it seems to have leveled off...seems to me the phone radio is the culprit but I have no clue what it could be doing!
(Forgive me if I'm hijacking)
I scooped up my SG3 on Sunday, and noticed almost immediately that my battery drops pretty quickly. I haven't rooted yet, and needless to say haven't flashed anything on it. I'm completely bone stock. I guess I'm wondering the same thing, in that I may need to return to AT&T. I lost as much as 70% in almost 8 hours with moderate to heavy use (Web browsing, textibg, a few calls, etc).
Something else: there is an orange sticker on the box it came un, much like a price tag at a retail store. On the sticker it reads: "REMATE 7.11.12" and has me wondering if this is a refurb they unloaded on me. Any ideas about the battery or this stupid aticker?

I notice that my battery life seems very unstable - one day it goes 10 plus hours no problem, the next day with the same usage its dying at 8 hours. The phone went bezerk this weekend, to the point of multiple reboots and just turning the thing off since it was unuseable. Factory reset over the weekend, wow ! Battery life is rocking 12 hours easy with heavy use.
The software on this phone is strange to say the least -

The reason I say this, is because of the fact I've heard of 12 to 14 hours or more of battery with the same (mostly) moderate to (occasional) heavy use. I understand that usage = battery discharge, I'm not a fool.

my battery usually only lasts 12 hours with minimal use, the only way i can go more than 8 hours is if i switch on airplane mode while i know im not going to need my phone.. while at work.

So perhaps I'm worrying over nothing (hopefully). I have been doing full charge to full discharge cycles and charging once it shuts down to "gel" or "season" the battery. But, there still remains the question of what the "REMATE" sticker is all about. It clearly has a date printed on it, which strikes me as odd...

So check out this graph...update of the earlier one.
-turned off wifi - plummet continued.
-turned off mobile data - plummet continued.
-turned on airplane mode to turn off the radio - battery stabilized. You can see the plateau towards the end.
-turned off airplane mode - plummet resumed as you can see.
Any conclusions I can take from this? It seems like it's the phone radio/standby and not apps...

Of course but battery loss is a corollary response to usage. Who made the rules on what moderate or heavy usage is? Besides other factors like strength of signal, etc.
That said I personally average 10-12 hours with 4hrs of screen on time.

Didn't see this mentioned, the stock rom had a cell standby bug where it drops by 32(whatever the measurement is) instead of what's supposed to be 3.2. This has effected me before and there are fixes.

Juice Defender Ultimate works great for me at work. Shuts off my data radio while screen is locked.
The location for wifi(allowing it to control wifi) is a little funky so I stopped using it(and suffered a little in the beginning because i kept forgetting to turn off wifi at night)
You can see how much my phone goes into deep sleep mode - This shows last night when I went to bed

That doesn't explain why the actual battery it dropping so fast. I suppose it could skew the "reason" the system gives for the battery drop...but it's further proven by the fact that the only way to stop the drop is to turn off the radio - even turning off mobile data alone does not stop it at all.

Your sharp drop is correlated to heavy screen on time. Mine is correlated to nothing...just sitting there with the screen off and nothing happening that I can tell.
I reported this problem back in June. This same exact thing happens to mine. Normally the battery is awesome, but sometimes it starts discharging at a crazy rate at which point I restart thee phone to fix it.

That's definitely my problem. When gsiff_daemon hasn't gone crazy the battery life is very good. I've only had the phone 3 days now and on the second found the battery discharging quickly when the phone was in standby (like the OP). I diagnosed this to be caused by gsiff_daemon. Seems to happen after the phone stops responding to input then does a warm restart. I only found one thread on this issue on one of the other S3 forums at XDA (TMo or global?)
Is there any sign of a fix for this? This is making an otherwise excellent phone horrible. I tried to relate this problem to Samsung through their support site, but just got a generic robot answer. Samsung's support site appears to be useless. Is there any indication Samsung is even aware of these problems?
I use System Tuner to check for gsiff_daemon going nuts. I normally notice it because my phone gets hot. If you use the Task Mgr from System Tuner and turn on display of kernel processes, it will pop right to the top if that's your problem.
The easiest way to deal with the problem when you notice it is to kill the process with System Tuner. It will start up again, but will not longer pin your CPU. A restart also works, but takes longer (and uses more battery).
You might also want to set up the Watchdog app to notify you when gsiff_daemon goes nuts.
I noticed you posted BBS logs, but gsiff_daemon will show up in Process, which doesn't appear to be logged (at least it isn't in the log in just dumped from my BBS).

Battery Issues

Our devices use a 4600 mAh battery and was wondering if anyone ever actually sees that figure? I've been struggling to get more than 4-5 hours use and started investigating why. The highest I've ever seen on a full charge is 4309 and the average is about 4260-4280.
Another strange thing I've noticed is that if I start playing a game with 100% charge and the tab plugged in I still loose about 1% per minute.
I've tried multiple roms and they all seem about the same as far as battery usage goes. Right now I'm back to the stock LG KitKat as it seems to perform about the best for me and very stable. I use the battery calibration app and was wondering is there another that might work better?
In closing looking forward to any suggestions or advise
Yep,same for me.battery life is terrible.have tried multiple roms, lucky to get anywhere near 4hrs.

I just tried an experiment, 100% charged, unplugged tab w/o turning anything on and I already lost 7% in 15 minutes !! I have Greenify installed and all non system apps hibernated and it still eats the battery.
My Sero Pro can sit all day and only loose 1%. If I could be sure I would receive a perfect unit I would consider RMA. But after reading all the issues with the screen problems I'm not going to take the chance. My tab is perfect aside from battery life.
I found a replacement battery on Ebay and am considering buying it to see if I have a bad battery. Something definitely isn't right.
I went to Mahdi rom as soon as I got my tablet about 2 weeks ago. This past weekend I did two battery tests.
These tests were done with wifi always on (medium signal strength, most google apps synced, google location reporting off, no twitter/facebook app, no greenify or any power management apps
If I left the display on indoors at auto brightness, it lasted for about 7-8 hours.
If I left the tablet idle (display off), it consumed about 3% per day (most of it consumed by wifi).
I would suggest trying the same thing with yours and see whether its a hardware issue. You can just do it for a few hours and extrapolate.
I've never calibrated my battery (drain until its empty) unless I notice an erratic drain from a constant task.
Mine is the same, not being used it drains almost nothing. Currently mine is at 49%, been unplugged about 12 hours with 2:47 of screen on time according to the battery stats in settings. 100% stock KitKat, bluetooth off. 15 minutes of screen off (with the screen on long enough to look at battery settings) and no % lost.

Same. If I leave it in standby overnight, I see zero battery drain (in 8 hours). I also tested a full HD movie (1080p) in full screen at 45% brightness and medium loudspeaker volume, and measured roughly 12-14% drain per hour, which suggests it could run 7-8 hours of movie playback on a single charge.
I'm happy with my battery usage. I think it's at least as good as my 2012 N7.
Here's a screen shot of usage just reading the other day. Keep in mind I mainly stop my tablet charging at between 90-95% as often as possible.

I'm with the OP as far as battery drain goes. Mine loses almost 10% in 12 hours at idle with wifi on. With wifi off it'll lose about 3-4% in 12 hours. I haven't done a full to zero test, but battery life is not that great on my personal unit. That is the only thing I don't like about it. I'm running idterror's v50018a ROM.

Then you have an issue with software you installed. It is neither the battery nor the ROM.
Well I went ahead and ordered the battery. I'm fairly confident it'll solve my problem. To Subtleone, with my tablet even with a barebones install I still have real bad battery life. It does not change very much between barebones and all my apps installed.

I don't think so. Even with a barebones install I get similar battery drain. But I knew the G Pad had terrible battery life going in as noted by every industry review I read prior to purchase.
Don't have any battery problems here (stock KitKat, rooted and most non-system apps greenified), get about 6 hours screen-on time at 70-100% brightness when reading books (wifi off) and an hour or so browsing/youtube'ing.
Are people actually going by unplug time until the device physically shuts down, or just what the battery bar claims? Battery stats are rarely 100% accurate, and there's protection measures built in to prevent a battery actually reaching 100% or 0% despite what the device says.

Except that I don't have terrible battery life. In fact, most don't. With KitKat (the one in my sig), with WiFi on, I get exactly 0% drain after 8 hours with it in standby (not actually off). Zero. Needless to say, I do not have any known battery killers such as the Facebook app.
At 45% brightness or so, I see about 13% battery drain after an hour of watching a 1080p movie in full screen with sound coming through loudspeakers.

Biggest battery eaters are apps like Google+ and Facebook.
UCCW and Weather apps too. Also having gps on.
There's some smashing eye candy apps for use and just for info on your lockscreen, they all seem to suck juice like no tomorrow. It's all the updating they do.
Best advice is to use something like wakelock detector to highlight your problem apps, then use greenify to get them to sleep properly. Also have your wifi set to only stay on when your tablet is plugged in.

To test a lot of theory I loaded up stock LG KitKat this A.M. . After letting it install and rebooting 3 times in 60 minutes I turned off WIFI and GPS and left it idle. In 4 hours and 12 minutes I was at 79%. Keep in mind when I left it idle the last time I was at 100%.
So at least in "my" case its most certainly not the software. My battery is scheduled for delivery 5/9/14. I'm hoping that will solve the battery issues.
Once I receive the new battery I'll update the thread. And thanks for the replies

My GPS is always on so I do not think it drains battery in any unusual way. I'll also add that it works darn well. I used the tablet for navigation in a car and it was impressive.
So to continue the theories I put my screen @ 50% watched 60 minutes of 1080p video via MX Player and lost 31%! That's totally bare aside from MX Player. So after seeing Subtelone's results I'm very convinced I indeed have a bad battery.
I know it's not a fair comparison but I've been using my mum's Acer W4 tablet as my 8.3 is being repaired for bad LCD (mura/spots). The W8.1 tablet actually gives me about 8-9 hours of web browsing time. Yes, it's got fewer pixels to push but bear in mind it is running the full fat Windows 8! I just think it's quite disappointing that the LG pad for me barely lasts 4 hours SOT when I mainly use it for web browsing.

Yes, something is seriously wrong with your battery if everything else is identical. My results are exactly as posted.

Pixel 2 XL Battery: Drain from Google Play Services & Android System

I got my Pixel 2 XL 3 weeks ago and love it. My battery has had mixed results. On my best day I have had 5 hours of SOT but it seems lately it has been mediocre at best. I will get about 16 hours of total battery life with ~2 hours of SOT. I am mostly on WI-FI during the day with about 2-3 hours on LTE when I am commuting on a train. I keep my screen at 25% brightness and have adaptive display turned off. I do keep GPS on high accuracy and bluetooth on (for my pixel buds when I ride the train). I speculate it is due to poor LTE reception when I am at home (I work from home while I commute to classes in the evening) due to the results I got on the GSAM app (screenshot below). But I have also noticed a lot of drain from Google Play Services and the Android System.
I do have intensive apps such as Facebook and Snapchat.

That actually sounds reasonable considering your usage pattern. Bluetooth, poor cell signal, Snapbook, Facechat, and lots of movement are all known culprits for decreased battery life. Are you stock or rooted?? If rooted there's a magisk module to help keep Google play services in check

I have the Google Pixel 2 XL since one week now, I also find that the battery is drain quickly. I have maybe 4-6 heurs SOT. ( depending what i`m doing with the phone) but the most of the time i use discord and instagram, youtube. I have also poor LTE connection at my job.
i had read it have a issue with Android 8.1 or maybe Google Play Services. I don't know if it was fixed or not.

It's probably because of your low number of posts.
Judging from these screenshots I think your bad signal is an important reason for this. Did you try using only 3G when commuting or at home? Don't you have wi-fi at home? You should check the drain when the phone has good signal. If the drain is the same, then maybe there's something else (like Google Services etc.).
But the GSam graph shows atrocious signal most of the time.

It is a little ridiculous. I am in somewhat poor LTE reception in my apartment but in an hour I had 5% drain with only 8 minutes of SOT. My battery usage breakdown is from 100% to 95%:
Google Play Services (70mmAh)
Screen (41mAh)
Android System (21 mAh)

Settings - Network - Mobile Network and choose 3G
If you have Wi-Fi at home why not disable Mobile Data while you are there?
Uninstall facebook and reinstall it. I had a problem where my battery life got bad after an update and that was the culprit. Wasnt showing up in the usage chart either.

I did just that and what a difference! Turned on airplane mode but then turned on Wi-Fi and Wi-FI calling. From full charge over night to this evening I was able to get ~3 hours SOT and I still have 50% battery. Very happy. Now when I am home and connected to wi-fi, I will always turn off cellular. Thanks!

i can tell you i have had it since release date and i use it for work all day for calls and then the evening and it always excels and i plug in at night with at least 20%. i dont get into every aspect of my phone and roms etc.. like i use to but the last 4 days my battery did change and especially on last sunday when it was at 20% at 3pm which i have never seen.
as i said i dont keep up anymore but i came here again because of this change and assumed i would find something like an install of a new play services or something as i felt i wouldnt be alone.
i did see an improvement when i did a restart but something has definitely changed for me and i assume it was an update i just hit install and dont look into every one of them anymore.
so typically the battery is well above par and i have all the latest phones and have for years
meant to add that the Sunday issue Phone was the biggest user but today Apps was 45%

This worked for me. I had cleared the cache and data from the Facebook app and I guess it hangs something up for "Android system" in battery usage page.

Question Great battery life!!

Battery seems to be getting much much better as I'm using the phone, phone was on 100% at half 6 this morning and now it's 8 at night with 37% that's with mobile data on all day no WiFi until I took the screenshot I had it turned on

There is 5g in the area but I'm not on a contract deal, I'm "pay as you go" so I can only get 4g, I don't really need 5g I get over 200mbs , apparently lol, when I run speed test.
I have had the phone for a week now and I must say battery life has been great for me, I have an average usage with 50% WiFI and 50% 4G LTE, i have been getting 5-7 hours of SoT on a daily basis. The variance between 5-7 is normal as it adjusts on total battery time. On days where i dont use the screen much, the battery extends to the next day as the screen has been off majority of the time. But on days where i reach 7h of SoT, the battery dies out by the time i sleep.
something is wrong with your phone. your mobile network % is really high and you are not even on 5G.

It's normal for the pixel 6.
Every pixel 6 has it, assuming it's the Samsung modern
Not on my 6pro. Many people also reported that they don't have a high battery consumption on the network standby. Mine ranges from 2-10%. With 5G disabled.

Mines similar with 5G enabled (and a contract sim which uses it), so not sure why you brought 5G into the equation. 9% for the last 24 hours, was 7% yesterday.
5g drains my battery quicker. hence why I disabled it.
Anyone know what's idle drain with AOD on ?
My batt life seems to be getting better with use as well.
Still on November .36, rooted, Despair Kernel, 5G active, WiFi scanning off, AOD on, not much tweaked yet.
Got this SOT the end of November. I'm happy and love my P6P!
Big test for mine yesterday coming back from Scotland. Off charge at 7am and then an 8 hour coach ride with mixed no signal, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G coverage, i watched a 2 hour film, read flipboard, used Facebook, used twitter, sent messages via Signal, sent messages via Google Messages, listened to some music using Poweramp, got home posted loads of photos on social media (finally back on Wi-Fi) and at 9pm last night i had 40% left and had to put it on charge for the December update.
Mine is fully stock, Wi-Fi left on, Bluetooth is on for Fitbit connectivity and Covid tracing, NFC is on, AOD off.
The longest SoT I've had was just yesterday, with close to 13hrs. I was mainly on wifi doing a bunch of web surfing and chat.
I know there's been some questions of, who uses their phone to browse websites all day, and I can be one of those people lol.
Other times my battery usage varies greatly depending on how much I charge and use it. I was able to get around 8.5hrs just from an 85% charge with mixed usage of wifi and cellular.

That's about what I get too, 300 - 400 mAh. Also overnight I get at least 93% deep sleep if not more. Something is keeping your phone awake while you are doing nothing so I don't believe it's a bad phone or battery. It's a bad app or misconfiguration. You need to find what that is and correct it.

Yes i believe it is something to do with an app but cant seem to narrow it down to which one. On airplane mode it instantly goes to deep sleep. Deep sleep is good overnight. At around 91 percent but during the day when im checking my phone every 10-15mins i get 40-50percent deep sleep. Brightness is at 70 percent usually and screen on around 600-700mah. No 5g enabled on wifi.

I use GSam Battery monitor to see which apps are high drainage, and then if necessary I kill those specific apps since they're probably stuck running in the background somehow.

6hrs SoT isn't much depending on how much battery you have. You have a pretty high drainage with the screen off of about 2% idle drain an hour. Ideally it should be about 0.5 - 0.7% hr. Anything higher will cause your battery to drop pretty fast, which is likely the result of some app or unoptimized battery usage in the background. I would do some digging to see what's causing this and it should improve your overall usage.
