Status Bar Auto Hide - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys
As you know there is an auto hide option for the taskbar in windows that would hide it when its inactive
I was wondering if there is any similar option\app to hide the status bar in our phones, without root, so the status bar would hide when not needed and when we need it, we can swipe it down.
I have googled it and I think its called immersive mode
any ideas?

As far as I know that feature can only be used with xposed or custom roms. So no, there is no option to use it without root.

Nova Launcher provides ability to hide notification bar but not sure if root is needed.

I found an app (GMD) that doesn't need root, but actually its focus is on navigation bar rather than the status bar, so I didnt like it.
anything else?

[Q] How to? T-Mobile LG D851 G3 Hide Top Status Bar

I think it's silly that LG has given us this big beautiful screen and diminishes it's full glory by not easily allowing you to hide the top status bar. I am pleasntly supprised about the fact that they let you hide the home navigation bar on the bottom. Love that.
So getting to work, how do we hide the top status bar in the same way as the bottom bar with a swipe to activate on demand?
So far on my quest I have done the following:
Placed the phone in developer mode and allowed USB debuging. Described here in the a PurpleDrake how to guide that I used: http://www.droidviews.com/root-and-install-twrp-recovery-on-t-mobile-lg-g3-d851/
PurpleDrake: Rooted, Installed TWRP, Disable LG Security. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/root-twrp-root-twrp-tmo-lg-g3-t2821005
Installed Xposed Framework http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-installer-versions-changelog-t2714053
Installed G3 TweaksBox and activated the module in the Xposed Framework https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.ptoti.g3_tweaksbox&hl=en
I have searched and searched google, xda and all the phone settings looking for an easy way to hide the status bar. What am I missing? Can someone please help? I hope this will benefit a lot of people. Thanks :good:
If you download gravity box module for xposed you can put the phone in expanded desktop mode which will hide the status bar

Is that just for the homescreen view or all the time? I'm looking to hide it while in applications. The same way the home nav bar at the bottom hides. Thanks
I use ADB launcher to get the job done.

ADB Launcher allows you to hide the notification bar and create a bottom drawer where you can use folder editor to put in category Icons that when pressed open up a slideable selection bar to select programs stored under that icon. Everything is neat and tidy on mine. No wasted screen space.

Thanks. More that I play with the phone, the more I realize that I actually just want the web browser to go full screen. Just need the status bar to hide when browsing. Don't really want to install an aftermarket launcher.
For other people's benefit, in case anyone else finds this thread that wants to use their phone's full screen. I found a solution that seems to fit the bill. I'm using an app called full!screen that says it's for tablets but seems to work almost perfectly https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.tsorn.FullScreen&hl=en
It has a pie menu included so you don't even need the pie app.

Remove default status bar?

So I've been annoyed with the default status bar that come's with Fire os on the fire phone and tried to install a custom one from play store.
But it seem's as if because of how Fire OS is pretty bad the old status bar wont go away and now im stuck with 2 status bar on top of each other. Any chance anyone here knows how to disable it? I've already looked around for people who have tried disabling it but all of those people are either on non-stock flashed firmware. Thanks for any help.

I want to replace the status bar not disable it
The only option I think would to be to hide it. But I dont think that would work too good.

Gestures instead of navigation bar on OP5T

Hi.
Got my OP5T 4 days back..
Does anyone in the forum know if we can use only gestures instead of virtual navigation buttons like iPhone x..coz I hate how it consumes space at the bottom..
Previously I was using all in one gestures to control my volume in OP3.
Thanks,
Shyam
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
I would love if it had the same gestures as the iPhone X.
All in one gesture, and if u go down to the themes and apps portion of this forum there is a post that shows u how to hide the navigation bar
Dunno if this is what you're looking for, but on my previous device I used the app "J Touch" from the Play Store as my navbar replacement+. Haven't got my 5T yet, but i intend to load it up immediately as I, too, dislike losing that precious real estate.
Using All In One Gesture and disabled the nav bar using Substratum's Navbar Height Changer theme (requires root).
Works like a charm. No more hitting the home button when missing the keyboard space bar!

I'm doing the same but it breaks the power menu I've found. It does a soft reset instead of bringing up my reboot options. At least I think that's what's happened.

Same here, but I installed the Reboot app to fix this.
Thanks guys! I hid my navbar, and installed All in one gestures. This is nice
I use swipe navigation for gestures. But I cannot for now hide the navigation bar permanently. For infos, I'm not rooted.

How is it?
It won't launch without the location permission for advertising purposes.
I'm now running xposed to disable the navbar, but of course that triggers safetynet...
I'd really appreciate if someone could help finding a way to disable the navbar without xposed and the reboot breaking subtratum theme I would be extremely grateful!

Gravitybox!
In 'navigation bar tweaks' turn on the master switch and then turn 'enable navigation bar' off.
It should work fine after a reboot!

No problem, you can follow my tutorial if you want to do this without xposed / tripping safety net:

I combined 0 nav bar height with LMT https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
and swipe navigation https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suphi.swipenavigation&hl=en
You can also bind navigation actions like back, home, recent to an edge menu like Swiftly Switch. (no root or xposed required) Though you do have to enable permissions like drawing over other applications.
All of these solutions seem kinda messy and require rooting. Is there no clean way to do this without modding my phone?

[Root] - How to remove Navigation and Status bars?

Hi y'all,
I want to remove navigation bar and status bar completely.... even when keyboard is in use. Is there a way to do it? (I do want them to show up when I swipe up/down navigation bar and status bar respectively).
I was looking at https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/themes/mod-navbar-gone-root-t3704916 Does this achieve what I want to do with 8.1 January Update on P2? I want to avoid installing apps as much as possible.
Thank you

My method removes Navbar completely. No swiping is going to get it back. You want immersive mode I would think.
Hey, thanks for the info. How do I take the back/home/recently opened apps actions in this case? Also, does it remove status bar too or is it just for navigation bar?

If you remove Navbar completely you need LMT or something similar to replace it. It is for Navbar only. Immersive mode can be used with either or both statusbar and Navbar.
Thanks. Yea, I think I'll try immersive mode and see if it works for both and can use swipe up/down to temporarily bring it back. Looking at https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guide-hide-navigation-bar-status-bar-app-t3509747 Let's see.

That's what I did and am using now. I think it's awesome. But I think, not sure, it might have given me issues with unlocking my screen every once in a while when it goes into sleep. I say I think, cuz I'm not willing to give up immersive mode for a reboot or now as I've found bringing up camera to wake up every now and then. So just be on the look out. Thought it might be Ex kernel also I did both around same time.

[Q] How do I auto show/hide the 3 button nav bar?

How do I auto show/hide the 3 button nav bar? I could have sworn my phone was doing this but suddenly stopped. I use action launcher. A quick small swipe up would make the nav bar appear, that or I am losing my mind lol

Maybe it's the dock you are thinking of. I know most launchers are able to hide/show the dock area which is usually right above the navbar. I do miss that ability from my old LG V30 and V20. I'm sure there is probably a way to do this on pixel 3 but I haven't looked into it yet.
That sounds like immersive mode.
Settings>System>Gestures>System Navigation>Gesture Navigation. It works with third party launchers now, but after you activate it, you have to go into your launcher's settings and select default launcher. If you don't, it will keep reverting to the stock launcher. It won't show the buttons at all anymore, you just use the gestures.

Hello,
I don't know if action launcher can trigger immersive mode. Dis you run a custom ROM?
If you wish, you can enable immersive on Android 10 and bellow with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
If you are rooted, you can just go in the app and enable the option. If you are not rooted, you'll have to open a command prompt and issue:
adb shell pm grant com.zacharee1.systemuituner android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Good luck...

Hello,
I'm using Nova Launcher. If you don't mind the status bar a little bit during browsing, etc... I hide it using Nova on desktop. If I didn't, I had somee apps, which menus on top left of the screen got hidden once the status bar disappeared. Didn't have that issue with a notchless device (Pixel 1 XL).
Cheers...
Sébastien.
