So I forgot to take my phone out of the bathroom and now its exposed to steam - Sony Xperia M5

At first there was no concerning issue other than its speaker volume being greatly diminished however after playing with it around an hour later, a very noticeable amount of lag was spotted especially when going into the multitasking screen, so I went deeper and started experimenting with more different apps. The lag is most prominent when I opened Settings, every button icon I clicked in the settings menu I noticed a very long delay ( 1 - 2 second ).
Front / Rear facing camera is OK
Speaker is now OK
Physical buttons all OK
Headphone Jack not so OK ( there are some static disruption )
Display : there's a noticeable amount of backlight bleeding at the top
The phone also gets noticeable hotter when under medium ( media streaming / opening apps ( album / music / chrome ) ) and heavy load ( gaming / camera ). Charging seems slower, or that could have been me, and the battery life is now a nightmare compared to the day before that incident happened ( usual : 9 - 15 hours ( constant use - no screen of time / now : 4 - 7 hours ( same usage ).
Has anyone else gone through the same thing with their phone?
Any other solutions other than sending it to a service center?
Will this invalidate my Warranty ( LDI is still white )?
Sorry if my post doesn't follow the usual guidelines for XDA threads.

How long was it exposed to steam?

Probably around 30 minutes of exposure since my brother took shower in the same bathroom afterwards.

Maybe something inside is still wet? Can try to put it inside a zip lock bag with rice in it for a few days.

(`д´)ゝROGER!!
Will give update!

New(ish) To defy 5 days in...

I received my new sim free Defy towards the end of last week, its on Three UKs £15 per month 1 month contract deal with 2GB of included data+200minutes+500 texts.
So far..
it seems quite easy and simple to use, the waterproof/resistant ability's have also been tested to the full, as already its been dropped in a bath, a canal ( luckily it was at the canal bank ) and had a pint of beer spilt on it.
As for general use, so far i have been unable to use it as a USB modem with my Laptop p.c ( tethering?) I know theres an app that will do that, but why doesnt the option in the mobile networks main menu work?
Next annoyance is the USB connected noise, each time i connected and disconnected it from my P.C the phone made its default notification noise, although ive just fixed it by making an mp3 that consists of 1 second of silence, copying that to the phone and using the 1 second of silence as the default notification ring tone, and then setting a different noise for e-mails and texts.
I also bought some cheap screen protectors to go with it, and erm, er, they were awkward to apply, they didnt fit the screen very well ( they weren't even on square !) they vastly reduced the screen sensitivity, and after the accidental dunking ( especially the beer incident) the phone went berserk, as liquid got between the screen and the protector.
one thing that has been a lifesaver is a little capacitive screen stylus, as i have found getting used to the touch screen keyboard to be not so easy due to its small size.
So at the moment im on the lookout for a decent screen protector ( something that fits the phone/wont cause moisture problems etc), and a new case as the old one smells of canal water.

Battery issue and some hardware issues

Hi everyone, I bought my Note 2 (7100) about one week ago.
Before i had Htc One X, and I also have battery isues there - I think than I make something wrong, maybe someone can help me
What's the problem:
If i press Note 2 in some places, I can hear crackles, creptius (i'm not sure are these words correct, I'm not very good at english)
I read in internet than some note 2 are creptiusing. I dunno - should I send fone to warranty ?
Second problem is with battery:
When I saw thread "post your battery stats" i thought than mine are much worse
Some screenshots here:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9ee7OsPV7k8SWJQV0JmcG9rc2c/edit?pli=1
I'm on [email protected] rom with redpill 0.10 kernel (i read than this one has the best battery life)
Sorry for my bad english
Cheers
In terms of the creaking noise that you hear when pressing around on the cover, it is perfectly normal -- some phones don't exhibit it at all, others slightly or more worse; it seems to be worse for some people if they remove their battery cover frequently and in all likelihood is a side effect of the plastic tabs wearing slightly from being bent during the removal and installation process (hence why it seems to get worse with a higher frequency of cover removals). I wouldn't worry about it too much, in a worst case scenario you could probably get Samsung to send you a new battery door.
Yep, but I'll send it to samsung at monday, battery is strange...
7% trough nigh (7hrs), sync off, gps off, wifi on - great signal. phone - great signal, any notifications at morning
1% trough 3hours, sync on, wifi on but not connected, very low/no signal, a few minutes screen on (about 5), one message
And my hardware button (menu) is moving right left up and down when I hook it with nail :/
Also my speaker is loosely in cover, i can move it about 0,5 mm right and left.
My friend has also note 2 and his device isn't creacking or anything, it has good fitted button and speaker.
Any suggestions about battery ? I don't think that is hardware problem, because I have that same strange battery life on one X, sometimes 6-7hrs screen on, sometimes 2-3... dunno why
Now I have about 4hrs screen on, If I have screen all the time turned on 100-0% is about 6-7 hrs, some people (preety much all) has about 12-13 hrs !

Note 2 weird screen with video + battery drain

Hi. Some time ago I accidentaly poured my phone with mineral water. It has been rather OK except I had to go buy a new sim and S pen. Now it has started flickering (a gray line) when watching videos and battery seems to be emptying quite fast. Does this mean my phone is dying? Obviously my warranty is void due to water damage so I won't be taking it to service center. I disabeled economy mode (found that in a thread here) and one other developer setting I found on the internet, but it is not helping. Any ideas?

[Q]Known problems of LG G3

I am thinking about buying a new G3, Is there any chronical issues-problems of LG G3?
Like dust in screen or speaker blow or any hardware malfunction
Don't be completly discouraged when reading this, as this is just my list of CONs for this phone.
Here's some of the issues i've had on my G3 from the very minute my phone left the box:
1. The phone has a locked bootloader, So don't expect any custom roms or kernels anytime soon.
2. This phone gets very hot for almost no explainable reason all the time doing small tasks like browsing the web.
3. WiFi (and maby LTE??) are REALLY slow in comparison to every other phone i've owned in recent years (sometimes web pages even freeze while loading).
4. The stock web browser kills my battery in about 2-3 hours from a full charge on 0% brightness because of LGs stock webbrowser sandbox security.
5. I get constant "connection timed out" errors while trying to stream many online videos using the stock web browser.
6. CPU doesn't hit max speed on this device without messing with thermal options.
7. The phone is very laggy & slow on my version (10b), I don't know how other versions are though.
8. The glass started falling out of my first G3 (around the edges) and i had to exchange for a new one because of this. (my new one did this too but only at the bottom and i just live with it)
9. VERY poor color & contrast when the screen brightness is turned way up (looks good at low brightness though).
10. My left headphone buzzes while the CPU is under load while no audio is playing, Once the CPU load stops or once a song or movie starts playing the buzzing stops (tested with 2 sets of headphones, both buzz but apparently some other users say there are headphones that don't do this).
11. + some other small things.
Probly the most complained about things are these:
1. lag
2. overheating
3. physical cracks develop usually around the ir blaster or mic
Im not having any lag issues, im on 10i though, my phone is yet to get hot too, not sure why this is, im very very happy with mine at this stage, only downside is the locked bootloader.
No issues here, the heat issue was fixed with software updates from what I have seen. I have no issues with heat on mine. The contrast can be fixed or made a little better in the accessibility menu. I've had 3 G3's and none of them had the screen fall out or develop a crack around the frame. (I think that was a limited issue)
I bought my first G3 back in early June and it was fine until I dropped it off my balcony. My Att G3 hasn't had any issues either. The signal issue listed above is more of s perception thing. My F460S (G3 Prime) only has 4 bars in its cell service instead of 5-6 that others have. So basically if I have 3 bars its like having 4-5 and my connection has always been fine. I think that some of the issues are exaggerated on this phone but that's just from what I have seen after owning a G3 since it launched more or less.
No lag, no heating.. Just two troubles.. 1.LG software.. Phone is so slow and heavy. 2. Locked bootloader..no LG software replacement.
If you want a g3 with an unlocked bootloader, buy it from T-Mobile. I have mine rooted recoveried, and have installed a very nice custom rom/kernel. This is by far my favorite Android yet.
As far as Amb669's list goes we haven't seen any of those problems. My wife and I have had our Verizon G3's for a couple of weeks now (not exactly a long time) with zero issues.
My WiFi speed in particular is Amazing.
Keep in mind two very important caveats:
My wife and I almost certainly use our G3's differently than Amb669 (and each other) - not better or worse just different.
It's possible that if we used our G3's in the same way as Amb669 does we might experience similar problems.
Our G3's were purchased recently - our phones may be from a later batch that has had issues corrected.
Our G3's firmware/software could also be different/improved.
I LOVE this phone and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
I have some problems with my G3 too, it's too slow... i prefer my Old Xperia ZQ, maybe it's a Software Problem ? and my G3 gets so hot too... damit i'm disappointed.. there are something that could do ?? i already resete it but still the same thing.

I have not encountered ANY of these issues, except for the heat issue.. But seriously it doesn't get that hot? Mine gets to about 55 degrees Celcius and that's max.. (I have the int. Version though)
On the other hand I do agree on the fact that the colours could be better on high brightness but hey, it's not a Samsung AMOLED display like the S5
For me the LG G3 is a stylish, fast, and amazing phone that offers everything I need :good:

A50 "battery is overheating, charging stopped" issue

Hello folks,
My phone is A505F/DS
It got very little water / chlorhexidine? (COVID-19 fact ) inside the charging port.
After that it just shutdown by itself. I tried to charge . It got "overheated" sign and it won't even start.
So, dug abit over youtube and decided to wash off the type c port with IPA(isopropyl alcohol) , but it is literally impossible to find it now-a-days (again COVID-19 fact) . Also i am in complete lockdown on my side of the country.
So, having no other options in my hand, i brushed the port with plain water and my toothbrush !!!!lol!!!!!!!! and to my utter surprise, it started and working 95% ok. But, now i am having one issue. Randomly, when i charge or do nothing but surf internet or YouTube , it can rarely notify " device overheating.. bla ... bla..bla" .
So i installed couple of temp monitoring apps and observed, this phone has only one temperature sensor? Called "battery temp ". Whenever it reaches 50°c it stops battery charging (obviously lipo safe operating temp range's upper limit is around 50°c). And when it goes around 59°c level it stops all phone functions apart from emergency call .
Now, what i need help about, is it possible to change the threshold level of cutting of the charging of the battery to 53°c around? Coz i have seen that even if the device is like of room temperature the "battery temp" hangs around 50-52°c and suddenly goes back to normal.
Plz help. In this lockdown, this little digital entertainment device is what i am passing my most time with And trying to get a living in this tough times.
Turn off fast charging if you updated to Android 10 (it's new feature in OneUI 2.0), also try to not use phone when it's charging.
Ok. But i am still on android 9
Ok . Not using while charging is helping i guess.
I will report back if anything happens
You cant fix this peoblem just by ignoring the high temperatures, its obviously a hardware issue and you made it worse by using water to clean the charging port. Water is very corrosive to electronics and may create shorts. You phone probably need to be desassembled and properly cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Some components may need to be replaced(i hope no). Its imo dangerous to continu using it as it is

as i am in lockdown i cant get my hands on IPA.
I cant even open the phone. Any tutorial to open it by simple tools?
[Update] today i was just surfing the internet, and the temperature suddenly shoot up to 62°c but the device on hand was cool enough to consider the temperature reading false . And suddenly it went back to 44. Again up to 55.... etc etc. I kept the phone @ Refrigerator for a min . And for last 8 hrs its fine... weird lol

Most probably your temperature sensor is giving wrong details to OS.

Yeah . Right?
Again today it randomly shot upto 63°c. Like from 45°c . It was jumping around like crazy for about 15 minutes.... now again normal.
I don't know what to do
Quick update.
Almost a month no problem faced
What i did..
1. Turned off fast charging (i think this is the most important thing to do)
2. Not using the phone while charging
3. Keep the phone @floor while charging( keeps it cool i guess?)
I kept it away for 2 days wrapped i tissue paper untouched and it seemed to be back to normal.(so far its been 3 2 days since the problem stopped happening)
My phone like your phone break and say over hearting error
Just gooing to your guaranty service this error for hardware problem
Any update on your phone temperature? Is it going back to normal?
I just had this same exact problem with my a50. I asked Google before I bought it if the A50 was water resistant and found 4 sites that said yes. Turns out it isn't and I cleaned the phone after shopping in lockdown and it started malfunctioning. I just successfully fixed it last night by watching a YouTube video that shows disassembly and then removing very small units from the charging port sub board. You only need a 00 Phillips screwdriver, a piece of plastic water bottle and tweezers or xacto blade. It shows how to remove the malfunctioning thermistor
Replace the charging PCB to fix the issue
In most cases, you need to replace the charging board to fix the issue. There is no other way to get rid of that problem:
Could you share the link to the video clip? Thanks
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View...ge+or+turn+on+-+Overheating+icon#answer649037
This is what I did to fix mine. Removed those 3 components that @Gspain2020 was talking about. I used a soldering iron and a needle, but tweezers or an exacto knife will probably be better. Or you could get a new charging daughterboard which should also fix the problem.
If you remove those components, the phone will be unable to detect the temperature, which can be dangerous if you allow it to overheat. Instead of the phone managing the temperature, you must stop using it if it gets too hot.
