For Fun - What are you doing with your $50 Play Credit? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title states.. Just to pass the time and have some fun while we all wait impatiently for our new phones. What will you be using your $50 Play Credit on.
Any awesome apps that are worth spending the credit on? Gems in clash of clans? Etc.

I plan on saving it for something a little more lasting than gems in a game. I'm thinking books, music or movies. Maybe an app or two if I find one I like. I usually get at least $1 a month using the Google Opinion Rewards app.

You can probably buy three Squeenix games with that money. ?

Hopefully trading it in for $35-40 Google Wallet so that I can buy a case and USB cable from the Google store.

DO UK customers not get this offer?

I'll just keep it for paid apps/games I see over time. I don't do the IAP free to play games.

can we get a chromecast with it?

This. Because I almost never buy anything in the Play store.

Save it to buy FF7 lol the rest probably rent movies here and there for the kids when I need a break.

I want to buy music albums from some bands with my Play Store credit

Good topic! Mostly movies and games for my 3 rug rats

I think google should have given the 50 credit for google pay to help boosting the usage.

They were gonna go to My Little Pony gems until Amazon came out with an "actually free" version in Amazon Underground lol

Likely movies. Maybe an odd game or app here or there (not IAPs, just the actual things). Don't need music, already subscribe to All Access.

i will buy an other nexus .. LOL

Buy the Pewdipie's game, haha.

Buy one of the new chromecasts i think... the store shows that i can use play balance to pay for devices when i go to check out..

I'd that's possible then I'll be using mine for a chromecast.. Or perhaps for a speck case

I think its only limited to games,, movies, apps, etc and not devices. If it includes devices then that would be awesome.

Gameloft scam?

When I purchase game in canada from the gameloft website, they send me a text telling me to txt to 60999 and 2.50 charge will apply. So I bought two games from them and they charged me 5$ last month. The company they use is txtnation. Com, this month I did not buy any game and they charged me another 12.50.... Now when I call gameloft about it they tell me they don't see the 12.50... And deny 60999 is their services.. Any insight on this anyone?
Sent from my XPlay using XDA App.
The texts I get from Gameloft when I buy a game provides me a link to download the game... I have not gotten anything telling me to text another number...
I have purchased 4 games from them so far.
Did you check the url of the site, you thought was gameloft??
sounds like a classic phishing scam to me
Yea its gameloft website. It detects my phone and when I type in my phone number, it gives me the games I've bought before.

O and i called them, they confirmed that I bought two games from them but can't do anything about the other charges because their billing department is not live. I need to email their support department for that. Either way the guy on the phone denied 60999 is associated with them.... Even though that's the number they used to send me my games... And of course the person has records of those two transactions. So the website is 100%legit.
Sent from my XPlay using XDA App.
I never texted them or received a text. I just put my phone number and email and just download the games. If I want to redownload them I just go into my download section and that's it.
At first I had trouble when I downloaded my games again and didn't know about the my downloads section.
How do they charge you then? There's no such option for me. I use the stock android browser when buying the games.

Is your carrier supported by gameloft?
you can do it with credit card/debit and they send the download link to your phone.

Slingplayer for tablets on sale

Just wanted to let everyone know that Slingplayer for tablets is half off. Regularly priced 29.99, now priced at 14.99. Looks great on my Nexus 7 and Xoom. Quality and controls way better than the phone version. Good way to spend some of your 25.00 Google Play dough.

Definitely worth it if you love sports. NHL package on the go

Dish (which owns sling now) dropped AMC so I won't buy this. Even at $15 it seems too much, on top of this I read elsewhere that its restricted to one device. Can't be installed other Andoid devices.

What you can't do is watch on multiple devices simultaneously. No other restrictions at least AFAIK.
The tablet version works very nicely on my new Nexus. But I'm glad for the Play Store credit + sale.
I hate that I've already payed for my SlingBox and still have to pay for an app. An expensive one at that.

Ah. Gotcha. -- I only have a single SlingBox PRO-HD so I never ran into a condition trying to use the application on multiple devices simultaneously.
I just purchased the Tablet version too with the Play Store Credit. Works great on the N7!
Cheers,
Kermee
Glad I got my Slingbox for FREE!!! I haven't used it in months, but I may have to try it out again. I'm usually always home, so I don't need to use it much...I might even actually buy the app for $15, I didn't buy it at $30...haha

rooted htc one gaming options

Hi all, I only saw one similar thread when searching the forums but it was quite an old post.
Anyway i'm looking for a gaming controller compatable with the htc one. There are quite a few options so i'm not sure what to go for and would appreciate some oppinions. I will most likely be purchasing off ebay or amazon.
I would be interested in a controller that is no more than about £25 ($38) with shipping. I would like it to be rechargeable. Also I would like it to be compatable with the htc one (obviously), and more specifically modern combat 4.
I was also iwondering about buying a replica ps3 controller but again not sure if it would work.
My phone is rooted and any suggestions would be appreciated along with software to download.
Thanks, I look forward to hear your replys
MOGA makes some good ones from what I hear.
http://www.amazon.com/MOGA-Mobile-Gaming-System-Android/dp/B0096L2SJ0
Most (if not all) of these mobile game pads operate over Bluetooth, so it is really up to the developers to enable support through the game's code.
It's a little more than what you are willing to spend, but from all the praise I hear about it, it seems to be well worth it.

Unfortunately the bluetooth stack on sense based roms is to put it mildly, crap! So as a workaround you could install an AOSP type rom which should enable you to use the likes of a PS3 controller, if that's the route you want to take then don't for the love of god buy a crappy replica pad, they're false economy and don't offer half the amount of precision that an official pad will.
PS3 pads are around £30 and the six axis app is around £2 i think, theres a chance that HTC will pull their heads out but I highly doubt it.
If Sense is the way you are going then the best option as the previous poster has stated is the Moga controller, but don't go for the original, it's cheaper yea but it also takes batteries instead of being a rechargable base.
The Moga Pro controller is available for £39.99 from Game.co.uk, it's an expensive pad but it's built like a rock and feels just like an xbox 360 controller, plus it has the batteries built in and will work with Sense in conjunction with the Pivot app which is free.
There are only so many games made to tailor it but you can get an app called gamekeyboard (which i think is also free) and map button presses to keys for emulators etc, i think there is an option for touch points but I'm yet to test that.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will just keep looking on ebay for a second hand moga pro ro save up for it to save hastle. I rooted my htc one for the sole purpose of playing games with a controller so hopefully I can find a good priced one. The PS3 controller/ASOP rom doesnt seem worth the hastle to save £5. Do you know if it would work with apk files not downloaded from the play store?

I wouldn't talk about ripping off games or apps on XDA m8, you'll incur an infraction if your caught doing so.
The app for the record won't work if it's an apk, it needs to check in and doesn't work, there is a six axis compaibility checker which is free.

I believe that there are places to download games and apps that aren't the Play store, that are still legal.

Just advice lad. The question was referring to an app, the app in question was the six axis controller Iapp, that is a paid app. There is no place to download it for free without ripping off the developer, hence my response.
If you're downloading paid for apps for free. Then you shouldn't be, simple as that.

GTA: San Andreas w/ $20 credit

Just a heads up! If you buy GTA San Andreas for $6.99 on the Amazon app store you get 2000 coins. Nice way to use any store coins you have now and it says Fire TV compatible.

awesome deal thanks for the heads up
I had 1000 from amazon for buying their controller, I bought this game for 699 and now have 2301, thanks.
Does it show up in the games section on FTV or will have to go to settings/ apps like my sideloads. I'll check when I get home.
Not sure, at work myself.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Yep. It shows up in the game list automatically. Then just have to download it.
If you go here it tells you how to get enough free coins to buy San Andreas and still get the 2000 coins. All you have to do is download about 5 or 6 free apps from the Amazon App Store.

WOW! GREAT POST!
Worked flawlessly! I 'purchased' the nine free games, got 900 coins. Used coins to buy GTA: SA, got 2000 coins!
THANK YOU!
..
Cameras all screwed up(won't stop spinning) in gta. I'm using an Xbox 360 gamepad.
Just to give this a bump, wasn't sure if I should post another thread but at any rate. Virtua Tennis is the free app of the day on the app store. Almost bought it yesterday for $4.99 with some coins.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. :good:
Is anybody using an Xbox 360 controller with this? Is the camera spinning around for you also?
Do PS3 controllers work better?
Thanks

Anyone know the cheat codes for this? I've tried different devices codes, but they don't seem to work on the FTV.
It is the same way as GTA3,the PC cheats entered by keyboard.
Type BRINGITON for a surprise!
Here is a list.
www.gtasanandreas.net/cheats/pc.php
Some of these are a bit cryptic with random letters.
I may have been wrong.
What are the keyboard controls?
GTA3 has 1-9 and arrow keys as the controls, but San Andreas could be different.
Someone please tell me since I will never have a way to get an actual joystick.

Can't get any of them to work I want to buy the big house on the hill
Sorry, forgot to mention my frustration by editing.
The keyboard mapping is almost non-existent,the only controls are wasd for moving and either Q,E,or Z jumps the bike.
Someone needs to give Rockstar a piece of their mind for butchering the controls and messing up cheat access.
Tell them to bring back the good controls from GTA3 for Android.
GTA3 for Android has really simple keyboard controls with actual cheat entering functionality.
Sure, they nerfed the tank cheat, but at least cheats work, unlike the broken GTA San Andreas for Android.
I think they used the sh**ty IOS based design (GTA3 for IOS lacks cheat access too) instead of porting the all-superior PC version with keyboard cheats.

[5-16-14] $20+ in Free Amazon Apps (Coins)

Figured I would pass this along here in the S5 forum for anyone interested.....
Today only (5/16) go to Amazon Appstore and just to the right of the FAOTD there is a banner for 8 free "photo" apps. Go to this and click to install each one. You don't actually have to install them can just hit cancel after it downloads. For each of these apps you get 100 free coins so doing all will give you at least 800 coins ($8.00 for apps).
Then, go to the Amazon app store on your PC and log in. Go to Kindle apps and search for GTA: San Andreas app. Unless you have a Kindle the app will not be compatible with all your devices but will let you purchase it anyways. The app is $6.99 (699 coins) but with purchase you get 2000 Amazon coins ($20 worth). So you can use the 800 coins from earlier to buy the app and then get another 2000 more.
Now you have $20+ to spend on apps without ever spending a dime. :highfive:
Thanks for the tip worked great!!
