NOTE takes a WHILE (5-10 minutes) to boot up on first boot! ART is optimizing applications and it is set to EVERYTHING as we have sufficient system partition storage - for SPEED. There is no more dalvik-vm (no REALLY now - not even included in AOSP now)!
If you like it hit thanks! Donations are appreciated but never expected
I do this for a hobby and to keep my tablet running like new
Coming soon:
6.0 GApps links
Busybox inclusion
3.48.0.0135 bootloader and MRA58N vendor image downloads
NOTES:
ALWAYS flash GApps even if updating from a prior AOSP 5.1.x/6.0 release! ALL ROMs format the /system partition as part of the installation process and this is where the GApps are kept!
BACKUP using TWRP and/or Titanium - save those files off the device to a USB stick external HDD or whatnot! Not responsible for lost data!
WIPE Data in recovery unless coming from another Vanilla AOSP 5.1.x ROM!
Be sure you are at bootloader 3.48.0.0135 and have flashed latest vendor image (steps in this post)
ONLY TESTED USING TWRP 2.8.7.0
MUST FLASH a GApps zip after the ROM for Play Store, etc.
If you like it consider donating! A nice big solid state hard drive will let me build faster and for more devices! (YAY my build box now has 411GB free even after all this developing - thanks to all who donated)
Thanks:
@Chainfire for SuperSU and keeping it updated!
@Snuzzo for github familiarization and being a great dev and resource!
@GROGG88 - for the power menu and other patches (even though it was from Nexus 5 it worked great)!!!!

Thanks for this ROM. It's working fine so far. I only have to flash bootloader and vendor, then boot in TWRP (2.8.7.0), format /data, flash ROM and it boots.
Any news about a working gapps package for this baby?

YUP no arm64 GApps (yet)...

What about the ones found here, http://opengapps.org/?

try to flash the vendor got an error...
hboot 3.44.1.0123

Those gapps don't support arm64 so they aren't usable for the Nexus 9. Just tried to use them and they failed.

They don't have 6.0 gapps available yet which means they won't work either. We need ARM64 6.0 Gapps, specifically.

SDCARD SETUP PLEASE CLICK HERE
Using GParted to setup a micro SD for ROM2SD support
First and foremost - DO NOT USE MINI TOOL!
Formatting a micro sd card for ROM2SD
We will be using a GParted Live boot USB and a FAST good quality micro sd like a Sandisk or Samsung Class 10 - SDHC/SDXC UHS-1 card with read speed of at least 20MB/S. If you have a cheap chinese eBay card don't bother - they are not good enough.
You will also need a USB Stick with at least 1GB size. Note this process formats the USB disk so don't keep any important files on it. It will also wipe your micro sd so make sure you are prepared.
1. Go to the link below and download the GParted Live CD/USB/HD/PXE Bootable Image and save it somewhere you remember
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
2. Download Linux Live USB Creator and install it
http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
3. Fire up LiLi USB Creator:
a. Choose your USB key - I,e, the drive letter for your USB (not sd card)
b. Choose your GParted iso image for the source
c. Choose the check box to Format Key in FAT32 and hide files
d. Click the lightning bolt to create
4. Now you have a bootable disk you need to boot from it. You may need to alter you BIOS Settings on your PC to boot from a USB Stick but mine did it without messing.
5. Insert your micro SD card into an SD Card adapter and insert into PC
6. Boot into GParted
7. Choose Gparted Live <Enter>
8. Don’t touch keymap <Enter>
9. Languge <Enter>
10. Start Gparted Automatically
11. Change device to your micro sd )it will default to you hard disk - hda– mine is /dev/sdc
12. Delete all existing partitions
For a 64GB card: (resize as needed but /system doesn't need to be bigger than 1GB)
13. Create new, always select primary: do this 3 times.
14. FAT 32 : Size 16GB – this will be /dev/sdc1 in gparted and will be your sdcard for storage in Android
15. EXT4 : Size 42GB – this will be /dev/sdc2 in gparted and will be your /data partition in Android
16. EXT4 : Size 1GB – this will be /dev/sdc3 in gparted and will be your /system partition in Android
Apply, wait until it finishes and then reboot. Remember to remove the usb stick
*Images stolen from elsewhere as I couldn’t get it to save mine
Now you are ready to install ROM2SD. Note if you want to use DATA2SD then only do 2 partitions 1x FAT32 and 1x larger EXT4
Then reinstall CROMBi-kk but this time choose the ROM2SD option

CHANGELOG
- Made it possible to mount all 3 partitions on the external_sdcard from within TWRP ....
- Added 'reboot recovery' & 'reboot bootloader' as options in REBOOT
- These partitions will show up as ......
external_sdcard = User storage space, should be formatted vfat
external_data = Will become /data for ROM2SD or DATA2SD, can be formatted either EXT4 or f2fs both can now be done from within TWRP ...
external_system = Will become /system for ROM2SD, should be formatted EXT4 can also be done from with in TWRP ....
This should make it very nice to make backups and restore without the need for the rom2sd1.zip or the data2sd.zip ......

On the tf201.... The bluetooth does not seem to work on anything but grimlock kernel RC-2.2
Could this be a module issue??

Possibly but I don't know why Maybe worth switching the TF201 back to the TF700 kernel base as it may be closer to that than the TF300?

I have to make a compliment for this rom.
This is the first time I can use XBMC full-hd tv-channels streaming. (I use argus-tv server to watch live tv through the house and different xbmc clients).
I never could play HD streams via wifi on android. Not even on my Note 2 which is much faster. But now with art and the new xbmc it's flying.
Awesome work bro! Ive been running it for a few hours and so far no issues at all. Quick question if you dont mind. Where do I find the dock keyboard layout? I need to change the internet shortcut into a minus as mine quit working some time ago. I was able to get to it under /system/user in the past but now there a ton of different controller layouts and I cant find the asus dock in there. I may have missed it though. Do you remember the vendor number for the layout file?
Thanks!

Do you know where its at within the file system? Thanks again
PS
Asusdec.kl is what I modified on your older cromi rom. I just cant seem to find it even using search in es file explorer.

This screenshot shows the location of all other key layouts. I believe this is where it resided in 4.2 as well but asusdec isnt here :/

Has anyone tried Art with this? Just wondering if it or Dalvik works better with this rom. Still setting up so I can't say yet.

Download the recovery file from above, put it into the same folder where you have adb and fastboot files. Please rename it to twrp.blob or cwm.img and follow the instructions below:
CWM:
Connect your transformer to your PC, reboot to the bootloader to enable fastboot by either holding down [power] and [volume down] or opening a command prompt in your adb.exe folder in windows:

A blue bar will go accross the screen on the tab and the command prompt will indicate it was successful in about 10 seconds

Flash this patch please as there is a file missing that gives better performance
RC1 Performance Patch
Remember if you are on rom2sd you beed to flash rom2sd1.zip first and if on data2sd use data2sd1.zip first.
FILES ARE SIGNED. IF YOU ENABLE SIGNATURE VERIFICATION IN RECOVERY IT WILL VALIDATE THE FILE BEFORE FLASHING.
ROM2SD/DATA2SD USERS PLEASE READ!
ROM2SD only works if you have ZOMBI-POP, ZOMBi-X, CROMBi-kk, CROMi-X or miniC flashed on internal with a THATv10+ kernel. Just choose ROM2SD in the installer of ZOMBi-POP to flash it to ROM2SD and the installer will do the rest.
- Install ZOMBi-POP and choose ROM2SD or DATA2SD install
The ROM2SD1.zip below is only needed if you need to switch your recovery to between normal and rom2sd mode. For Example you want to backup or restore a rom2sd installation. Flash once to go rom2sd and flash again to go back to normal. A reboot always puts you back to normal. Thanks to _that!

2. Boot to recovery – Either choose Boot to Recovery from the Power Menu if available on your current ROM or from the tablet power off hold the [volume down] button and press the [power] button. Once your see the flashing RCK icon, press [volume up] to select. If another icon is flashing use [volume down] to move between icons.

5. Choose the ZOMBi-POP zip file and follow the on screen prompts to customize your installation.
6. Reboot and enjoy.
Using GParted to setup a micro SD for ROM2SD or DATA2SD!
First and foremost - DO NOT USE MINI TOOL!
Formatting a micro sd card for ROM2SD
Note for DATA2SD just do one partition in stead of 2
We will be using a GParted Live boot USB and a FAST good quality micro sd like a Sandisk or Samsung Class 10 - SDHC/SDXC UHS-1 card with read speed of at least 20MB/S.
16. EXT4 : Size 1GB – this will be /dev/sdc3 in gparted and will be your /system partition in Android (not needed for data2sd)
Then reinstall ZOMBi-POP but this time choose the ROM2SD / DATA2SD option
Reserved
All,
The ROM is still in BETA and by flashing it you are helping the BETA Testing process
It may still have some bugs, spontaneously reboot, drain the battery faster or heat up a bit. The aim is to make it better and fix them.
If you find a bug and want to report it here please post a logcat (after it occurred) with a description of what you were doing at the time and the rough timing in the logcat to look at (these things get huge!).
You can also post a dmesg which is the kernel boot logs and can indicate issues with data corruption or hardware.
If you get a reboot then please post a last_kmsg from the /proc folder.
How to get a logcat
How to get useful logs
Thank you!!

Thank you @PecanCM.
You are really fast. :highfive::highfive:
Yay! FINALLY! We love you Ron
Review: Processing...
Awesome @PecanCM!
Thanks for bringing AOSP Nougat 7.0 to xm!
Smooth and functional for an alpha release!
Thank you!! Gonna test it now!
Thanks for new taste of Android!
Tips:
- Launching persistent TWRP not supported. Only built-in 2.8
So if you have adopted sdcard you can't restore backup.
To fix flash CM13 kernel.
- OpenGapps for 7.0 here
- Feature spotlights here
- File manager in Settings > Storage finally can install APK's, useful for first boot.
- To use 2 apps at same time hold and drag thumbnail in Recents
- Double-tap on Recents works like Alt+Tab (like long press in CM)
- In dev options new option to force move all apps on adopted storage

FOTA TWRP (recent, most likely 3.0 only) is known & fixed,
logo loops on and on, nothing opening right?
Thanks for confirming.
Thanks a lot, Ron!
GPS is works (tested in Google Maps)

I hadn't adopted sdcard, sorry.
Just noticed old TWRP and therefore possible problem.

can you please share cm13 kernel?
Look likes our XM always infront of the other ..
Tried!
Everything's working fine, except:
1. Camera not working.
2. No live wallpapers.
3. Music app crashing every time.
Does anyone have success flashing GApps? On Opengapps wiki is stated that it needs additional ROM patching to disable APK Signature Scheme V2.
---------- Post added at 22:47 ---------- Previous post was at 22:44 ----------
BTW, if FOTA recovery is not working, I can repack the boot image with the latest TWRP 3.0.2-1.

Yes, like all ROMs for our device (and maybe for our entire SoC family).
Can any user test WiFi hopspot for me. And also if pokemon go will work without bugs (sorry I have no time to DL and test myself ATM)
So here are results of my brief testing:
- It booted VERY FAST as there is no ART cache compilation after every update, cache is generated on-the-fly combining JIT and AOT compilation. BTW, not only first boot was fast but the latter ones too, much faster than CM13.
- First boot with Opengapps Pico for 08.26 led to Setup Master's FCs at some moments, yet after some painful experience I've succeed adding Google account and even restoring my apps and settings, which was quite surprising (I was amazed when noticed my ringtone being restored to that from CM13).
- 3G is not working, at least for me. Only EDGE.
- Getting root with the current version of SuperSU appears to be impossible, at least for our device.
- Phone seems to be less responsive, but maybe that's just me, because I regularly use it overclocked to 1.4 GHz.
- TWRP 2.8.0.0 and not working FOTA recovery, seriously? I was forced to repack boot image with the TWRP 3 (just quickly grabbed that from NUI as I'm lazy to repack recovery ramdisk for using in boot image). Some report it working but for me it always booted to the built-in TWRP, both by Vol- and Vol+. BTW, I can upload repacked boot image tomorrow (it is on my personal laptop, I'm writing this from my work one).
I would certainly use it as daily driver if there were root and NUI kernel available. It is very stable for such an early alpha (gosh, Ron started working on it a couple days ago as sources were published) and such an old phone (it debuted 3 years ago), we are very lucky to have so custom-friendly hardware and such a talented developers as Ron and guys working on msm8960 board (another reason I think is that there were no any bringing-pain-in-the-ass changes like ART in 4.4/5.0 and adoptable storage in 6.0). Great work, PecanCM!
I'll continue my testing tomorrow and revert to CM13 later until new SuperSU and NUI are released (or maybe forever if I'll buy new device soon).

NOTICE: First boot after an install/update takes a while, wait at least 5 minutes for it to boot.
If the LED stops flashing and goes solid with any color then SuperSU did not correctly trigger the reboot.. You can either pull the battery -OR- hold down the power button for 15 seconds till the led/screen goes blank, then let go of the power button.. Then after another 4 seconds it will automatically boot and vibrate and everything is 100% normal.. It only happens that one time on a new Rom install with SuperSU.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some notes about the new build....
F2FS is known to cause issues when we use SuperSU.I hardly suggest to use ext4 for all partitions
On the first boot u may have some browser and music FCs...not constantly though.Select the option to mute the notification until next reboot.
So ,give all the permissions to those apps and reboot when u setup ur device
On the next reboot you wont have such issues.
The folder link contains 2 ZIP files.1 is the aroma 1 is the NON aroma build for those who got issues with it.
Non-aroma build contains :
Alucard kernel
CM File manager
No Nexus apps
No SuperSU
AOSP camera only
Optimized LineageOS settings has got options to download all the aroma installer packages. To do that ,simply click on the desired package.
To make this work,u must have already give the proper permissions to your browser. You can download any package ,even if you installed aroma zip
Dont you want to make a fully clean install ? no problem.BUT.keep in mind that dirty install will keep ur old kernel changes even i made changes to kernel.
So
if u really want to make a dirty install and keep your kernel settings, simply flash the zip over the old one.(optional:delete system and dalvik before that )
if u really want to make a dirty install with the new kernel settings, delete the folder /data/.b--b/ from twrps file manager and then flash the rom as situation 1)
The late reboot time is a known issue on s4 with nougat roms.

Google assistant guide
by @Apad121
thanks for that mate
Apad121 said:
Hi everyone
Just wanted to say that I got Google Assistant working on this ROM and it seems fast to work really well!
BTW the bug above happens to all devices that aren't pixel or nexus.
THE BUG WITH OK GOOGLE IS WORKING NOW..... SEE BELOW IN STEP 9:
GUIDE ---- I had to find lots of articles and looked through many guides because CM14.1 was slightly different to CM14 and android nougat. Because of how we flashed different Gapps it made the installation quite difficult. However after a bit of problem solving and determination I succeeded in getting Google Assistant on this great ROM.
1 Go to build.prop (I just used BuildProp Editor from the Play store, once in the app I pressed the edit button on the top right)
2 I changed "ro.product.name=cm_jflte" to "ro.product.name=Pixel XL" (I am not convinced this is neccassary but I did it anyway and it works)
3 Add "ro.product.model=Pixel XL" at the bottom (the ROM didn't have the ro.product.model bit that most phones seem to have...)
4 Add ro.opa.eligible_device=true after the above (Add this underneath the 3rd step)
5 Save the build prop then Reboot phone (Almost there)
6 Clear Google app data (This is to help ensure the process works)
7 Launch Google assistant as if you would launch now on tap so go to settings>functions> select home button >long press >select search assistant (OR SET IT TO ANY OTHER BUTTON YOU WANT)
8 Go to Google app settings and check you have enabled Google assistant
9Install the application and setup (credit to @masterchop for making this app ) ChopAssistant https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=choplabalagun.blogspot.com.chopassistant&hl=en
10 FINISHED! (Please read the rest below)
IF IT STILL DOESN'T WORK DO NOT WORRY ---- IF YOU FLASHED A SMALL GAPPS SUCH AS PICO GAPPS THEN THERE IS STILL 1 MORE STEP!!!
11 Now if you had to install the google app when you first setup the phone, then you need to move the file "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1" from data/app to system/priv-app
Google Assistant for CM14.1, this guide covers most errors and problems you will face for installing it on any device including CM14 and Android 7.x
Reboot and NOW GOOGLE ASSISTANT should work with "OK Google" working too!
PLEASE LEAVE A LIKE IF THIS HELPED!

Encryption on f2fs doesn't workInstallation
Choose your flavor
1. You can choose between the traditional EXT4 or the new EROFS. This fs affect only to /system and /vendor partitions
2. Magisk doesn't work on EROFS at the moment. Anyway I've included KernelSU on kernel, so you can install if you want KernelSU app in order to get root and flash magisk modules
3. Once selected root partitions fs, you can choose fs for /data and /cache partitions between traditional EXT4 or F2FS
4. Note that EXT4 comes with encryption by default and F2FS comes unencrypted
Decide if you want encryption or not
1. If you want encryption, use EXT4 on /data partition
2. If you prefer to go unencrypted, then use F2FS on /data partition
First Time Install / Clean Flash
1. Due to latest changes, is mandatory to use my last TWRP posted below
2. Reboot into recovery mode
3. Go to Wipe --> Advanced Wipe --> Select Data/Cache --> Swipe to Wipe --> Reboot into recovery
4. If you already have /data on f2fs (or ext4 unencrypted) and want stay that way, skip step 5
5. Go to Wipe --> Format Data (internal storage will be wiped too, backup your data) --> Type yes and accept -->
Reboot into recovery
6. Download the ROM and copy it into internal storage
7. Flash the ROM (and magisk if you consider it, but ONLY on EXT4 version, over EROFS will bootloop)
8. Reboot to system
Dirty Flash over previous CherishOS v4.7.5 or later
NOTE: Do not dirty flash over old versions earlier than 4.7.5. In that case do a clean flash
1. Due to latest changes, is mandatory to use my last TWRP posted below
2. Reboot into recovery mode
3. Download the ROM and copy it into internal storage. You must use the same version alteady installed (EROFS or EXT4)
4. Flash the ROM (and magisk if is already installed, but ONLY on EXT4 version, over EROFS will bootloop)
5. Reboot to system
Change /cache and /data filesystem from ext4 to f2fs
1. You must format /data partition, so all your data and internal storage will be deleted. Please backup your files
2. Reboot into recovery mode
3. If already encrypted: Go to Wipe --> Advanced Wipe --> Select Cache and Data --> Swipe to Wipe --> Reboot into recovery
4. Go to Wipe --> Format Data --> Type yes and accept --> Reboot into recovery
5. Go to Wipe --> Advanced Wipe --> Select Data --> Repair or Change File System --> Change File System --> F2FS --> Swipe to Change
6. Repeat step 5 but selecting Cache
Change /cache and /data filesystem from f2fs back to ext4
1. You must format /data partition, so all your data and internal storage will be deleted. Please backup your files
2. Reboot into recovery mode
3. Go to Wipe --> Format Data --> Type yes and accept --> Reboot into recovery
5. Go to Wipe --> Advanced Wipe --> Select Cache --> Repair or Change File System --> Change File System --> EXT4 --> Swipe to Change
Hybrid Mode
You can have /cache and /ext4 on different filesystems, so follow previous instructions to put the partitions on your desired filesystem

Man I'm so glad someone hasn't given up on this phone. It's pretty awesome with how thin and lightweight is. I've got the Mix3 and it's a heavy brick. Thanks for keeping the Dev going. Definitely going to download and give it a shot.
OP Updated.

when i'm trying make(not to attach existing one) and send photo in Telegram or WhatsApp - it hangs.
Same result for me. Video clip is recording and available for editing (via long tap), but when trying to make photo - Telegram hangs just after the tap and the flash fires.

Hi, Google drive link for GAPPS image seems to be broken for me. Thanks for updates
Have you checked sha1 or md5 hashes?
Have you managed to download from mediafire?
Is the first complain in that way so maybe is an isolated problem...
If someone else reports the same I'll re-upload it.

I've downloaded and installed image from Mediafire - it's OK.
Link from Google Drive - it says error "File not found" - so I can't even check it.
Strange, I've just downloaded it from link without problems... maybe it was an isolated problem.
I faced a problem but solved it.
I had the official CherishOS (Android 11) for chiron installed with the latest official TWRP for chiron. When I installed the Nanhumly built TWRP it couldn't decrypt. So I went back to the official TWRP and flashed this CherishOS (Android 13) with NikGapps and Magisk. It installed and system booted up alright. When I went back to recovery, now the official TWRP couldn't decrypt. So I flased the Nanhumly build and it could decrypt now.
So I figured that the official one works up to Android 11 and the Nanhumly build is for 12 and above. I'm a n00b so this is a revelation for me. That's why I'm sharing the experience for fellow n00bs.
Great build Huexxx. It's running smoothly. I'll report back after few days of use.
Happy New Year! Cheers!

Exactly, I recommend in my op to use nanhumly's build to use encryption (or not).
OP Updated!
NOTE: I haven't tested this build by myself, so make a backup prior to flash it.
Tried out 2023-01-10 (Vanilla)
That camera issue seems to be fixed.
For some reason the the CherishOS Launcher has been removed and replaced with a plain .launcher3 launcher. (No customizing settings available)
Does any one know where I can get an APK for the CherishOS Launcher? (Was available in 2022-12-01)
Edit: As an added benefit of the new launcher is that it is compatible with any Launcher that has Quickswitch support. So I was able to install the latest Lawnchair 12.1 dev and still have working gestures
