G4 Camera for G3 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

From what I can tell no one has been able to do it yet, but is there a thread or user I can follow about the possibility of the G4 camera app being available for the G3?

I think it has been released already, only works on stock roms tho. I even had the zip somewhere. Even the manual mode works.

I think when Android M comes to G3, the camera app will be the same for G3 and G4

On-Screen Phone for LG G3... on Lollipop?

Hello
Happy owner of a LG G3, i previously had a LG G2 (and i was very happy with it too).
Something i'd like so much on the LG G2 was LG On-Screen Phone (LG OSP). When i got my LG G3, i was sad because OSP was not here anymore. But i found on Internet (on XDA ) a way to install LG On Screen Phone on the LG G3. It worked perfectly!
But I recently updated my LG G3 to Android 5.0, Android Lollipop.
And now, i tried to download LG OSP for my LG G3 (with the same link as before) and when I open it on the LG G3, the app is closing instantly with an error message (OSP has stopped working). I tried many times, without success. Then the smartphone ask me if i want to update LG OSP to a newer version, I accepted to see if it will work best this way.. and.. No.
So i don't know what to do.
Do you know a way to keep using LG On-Screen Phone with a LG G3 with Android 5.0 Lollipop ?
Thank you
LG G3 is the first smartphone who gets lollipop update, and developers are working hard to provide apps and mods for our G3.
I think some patient will be really appreciated!! And I'm sure there will be tons of apps and mods coming for G3 with lollipop update!! We just need to set back and wait for the awesome magicians of android. ??
Yes I know that, but maybe there isn't much to change to make LG OSP working with the LG G3 with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
If somebody now a way, a tips to make LG On-Screen-Phone working with LG G3 under Lollipop it will be great!
Thank you very much in advance
I think LG OSP doesn't work on lollipop since it runs based on Dalvik instead of ART. Lollipop uses ART.
Hello,
Thank you for your answer. Yes I know about this change.
And do you think it will be very problematic? I mean, this change (Davlik / ART) will ruin the compatibility between LG G3 and LG On-Screen Phone (LG OSP), or even with this change we can hope LG OSP will be "adapted" and will be able to work with LG G3 on Lollipop ?
Thank you

Cheers for the info installed airdroid and works great
Mobizen works too
For anybody else with this same issue the mobizen app works like the OSP did as well complete with screen mirrioring and usb or wifi connection options.
Hi,
Since I opened this thread, things changed.
Now, we can go on Lolipop on the G3 and root it easily (one root click solution).
Does anyone or any news about this thread? Is the LG On Screen app now compatible with LG G3 on Lolipop ?
Thanks
Up!
I saw Mobizen, that's great and working well (with the advantage to have both solutions : an "offline version" with the software which has to be installed on the computer, as On-Screen phone app does, but it has also an "online" version to use Mobizen (and the LG G3 with a computer) with any computer, it's not required to install anything (everything through internet).
So thank you.
But just because i'm curious and I like the On Screen Phone app, is someone knows more?
Lolipop has now been released since a while, we are even talking about Android M now... Will the On-Screen Phone app be compatible with Lollipop?
Thanks

LG G3 D852 Lollipop Root Android 5.0

Does anyone know of a way to root the LG G3 D852 running Android 5.0 Lollipop after the OTA update that recently came out?
I already tried using the CM12 nightly rom that runs Lollipop but it loses some much features from the LG G3 such as double tap to wake and I dislike the style of CM12 a lot.
Any help at all? I don’t want to use Cyanogen Mod at all.

This method only works with Kitkat. So far there is no method to root Lollipop. You will have to downgrade to kitkat then root again and follow this thread written by autoprime http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/psa-stop-taking-ota-updates-update-t2909412

Someone will have to make a stock flashable zip including root. This is something I'm attempting, but having very little success in doing due to the bumping of the kernel.
Hopefully someone will be able to figure this out -- I'll gladly donate to anybody that can root the LG G3 D852 with the Lollipop update. I am already missing Cloudy5 but decided to try out the update. I am very disappointed -- Rogers / LG seriously crippled Lollipop and many of the best features are gone. Even the lock screen notifications suck compared to AOSP ROMs. Eager to go back, may need to go back to KitKat, root again, then re-install Cloudy5.

I don't know enough about it but am trying to learn as well, unfortunately i'm only a geek and not a techy geek. What I was hoping to do was flash back to KK then root/custom recovery and then flash system.img using the LG flashtool, so that I could have official Lollipop only rooted.
I was trying to follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4s6wrpD2Gk, but it's not enough for me to go on, perhaps it can help put someone else in the right direction.
I've got the kzd file for if anyone needs it.
It looks like Lollipop rooting has begun
Something is happening http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/psa-stop-taking-ota-updates-update-t2909412/page19
UPDATE - Seems like @topet2k12001 has figured it out for the D858. Who knows enough or is willing to try it on the D852?

Hi @cytherean,
Thanks for the mention.
I am going to work on uploading a YouTube video tutorial for the steps that I did so that owners of other LG G3 variants may try if it works for them.
I would say though, to try @autoprime's method first because that's exactly what I did. I merely added a minor/extra "manual" step to his procedure which is to "bump" the Lollipop boot.img of the D858HK (as the online "bumping" service is already taken down - I was too late in the game, unfortunately).
Stay tuned!
PS: would you guys recommend for me to create a thread solely for this? If yes, I'd probably name it with "D858HK" and then others can post and report their findings, so that I can update the thread title. Or do you suggest I just keep it under @autoprime's thread (or the D858HK thread)?
The only reason I am thinking of creating a thread is to increase visibility into the procedure. Rest assured that I always give credit to all the things I have learned through reading and discovering the process.
UPDATE: I decided to create a thread. At this point, I have tested and re-tested the procedure; it works for the D858HK (100% success rate). http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845
Inviting owners of other LG G3 variants to try too, and let me know if it works.

You can't flash LG camera. It requires special libs which aren't found on CM. For camera I recommend you ported HTC M9 Camera. It's pretty good.

As for quick remote flash this one:

Idk about keyboard.

Questions to experienced rooted LG G3 users

So first of all, i've been reading threads on XDA for the pas few years whenever i need to look something up that has to do with android or so but never actually posted myself. I'm making this thread because i couldn't find the answer i want. Excuse me if I don't do this following the guidelines right or anything.
So i want to root my LG G3 because i've rooted my previous phones (Galaxy S and Nexus 4) as well and i liked the roms i was flashing. I didn't really care about missing touchwiz' features when flashing a new rom and Nexus is already running stock so I wasn't worried about that either.
The question is for me now: What LG features will I miss when flashing another rom (E.g. CM12, ParanoidAndroid...) So in terms of the features that LG has put in their skin itself. Also what other remarkable changes will happen? Performance changes? And will I be able to use my camera the original way?
I hope any of you can help me out with this question and enlighten me a bit more.
Thanks in advance!
I can sum up a bit of lost features:
- The beautiful LG UI
- LG stock apps ( can be ported tho )
- Knock code
- Navigation button hide per-app settings

Will the camera work as usual if you'd download the camera apk? For example laser focus and the same quality as it normally should be? Because I don't like the google camera app.
And also, would you recommend flashing a different rom?

I'm the same addicted as you to the lovely LG G3 rom but i wanted more geeky feeling so i flashed CloudyG3 which is an improved stock rom which is still using the G3 firmware but alot faster and more options available.
I can only recommend you to use that rom since others were not that good imo.
Also i don't know about the camera thing but i assume it's the same on CloudyG3 rom.

Yes i would recommend KingoRoot for PC but you have to uncheck all the software they suggest you to install along the root process, i did not had any problems with Kingo Root but i've heard people complaining about it.
One click root applications like Towelroot, Framaroot and Stumproot does not work anymore on Lollipop stock roms since they were patched by LG.
I usually prefer to use oneclick root apps to avoid using my PC for little tasks + it's alot faster and easier.
So i suggest you to root it with Kingo Root using a PC.
And regular Xposed does not work yet on Lollipop but the Xposed Alpha version ( which you can find on XDA search ) does work perfectly.

LG Stock Apps

Hello Guys.
I am Using the LG V30 and wants to know If someone can Upload some LG G7 Stock Apps
Not sure why you are posting in the LG G7 section if you have a V30, but whatever.
If you are on Oreo, there isn't much for you yet... You'd have to get the LG Framework and the LG Apps that are compatible with Oreo. HOWEVER, if you are still on a nougat version of android and you already have the LG Framework cause you are using Alpha Rom or Weta Rom, then you're in luck:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120710415 <<< Flash install with TWRP
This was VERY useful when I needed the Quick Remote, LG Gallery, & LG Video player. <<< These are the best apps ever.

Would be great if someone would upload all the original LG apps! Especially including the original LG messaging app. In some regions some apps like this one are not included.

Even if someone posts it you won't be able to install it. It will fail every time. No way to get the stock messaging app if it didn't come pre-installed.
Really? But why? In the V30 forum users have been uploading their stock apps for other people too.
