how do we get voice activation , waking up phone without power button,
Double tap to go into the s voice then go to settings lower left and u can activate it in the settings menu.

Enable it in the s voice setting. Say "hi Galaxy" and it'll wake up without touching the phone ala moto x. The bad part is it uses s voice. But you can tell svoice to launch voice search I guess.

[Q] Best Voice Dialing Hands Free app

Back long ago, I had a Motorola E815 flip phone.
I could use my wired headset and press the headset button and speak a name from my contacts list and the phone would dial the contact.
Simple; Hands Free; no internet connection; no complications like needing to look at the screen or press a selection or answer confirmation questions;
Just press the button; speak the name and connect;
My Nokia Dark Knight could also do this;
My Moto DroidX and Thunderbolt could also do this;
But, they needed special apps that were not quite as accurate and not quite as fast as the simple flip phones;
When I got the Galaxy S3; The Samsung voice app and Vlingo all tried to help; but, they were slow and inaccurate and required confirmation prompts.
I've just received the G3.
Is there an app or combination of apps that can take me back 10 years to just "press the button" ; "speak the name" ; dial the number.?
Thanks!

Google search can do this! In the app or on the launcher just say "Ok Google." then when the mic pops up and the phone beeps "say call CONTACTS NAME, PHONE LOCATION." PHONE LOCATION = mobile, home, work, etc.
It can do some other cool stuff too. Just Google it!

yeah - it does - sort of - but not super accurately and it seems to need internet connection.
- it just amazes me that those old flip phones could do this reliably without internet...

Google Now acting flaky...

When I first got the phone, Google Now was very responsive to my "Ok, Google" command. Then,I disabled S Voice and learned that you must enable S Voice in order to use the Google Now command from any app or from the lock screen. Now, nothing. I can press on the Google Now icon and whether it records my voice or not is iffy. I can no longer press the dial key on my Bluetooth to get voice dialing commands. Nothing works! Anybody have an idea of how to fix this? I have tried to go into Google settings to allow use of the command even when the phone is off, but when the screen pops up to program Ok Google with my voice, it just sits there. [emoji16]

[Q] Control 360 with voice only

Hi, i'm disabled and only have the use of one arm, is it possible to completely control the 360 watch using my voice ONLY?
I believe so. You can tell it to call or text people in your contacts, tell it to dial numbers, start apps on the watch, etc. Is there anything specific you are worried about not being able to do?

The better option is to customize it like a pendant to wear around your neck. (Moto 360 looks good that way. .see here with steel connect M hook in the video on this page)
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1183644800/steelconnect-m-adapters-for-moto360-smartwatch
..then you can completely use it to swipe and accept calls and voice and use all the features
Using it like a watch on your arm. .yes you can use OK Google and call. .send messages and all. .but you cannot swipe the cards off or accept or reject a call

You can use your nose to swipe off the cards..
I'm not being funny.. I'm not disabled and I do it all the time.
I probably look a bit silly doing it, but when I need it to work it does.
Is swiping the only time you have to touch it

How do I stop Google assistant from using hotword detection even after I turn it off?

I still get assistant popping up (the get started screen ,voice training) Everytime I say "OK Google " when the screen is on . I would like to totally turn it off and just use assistant by holding down home screen button. Still listens after I go into Google settings and turn off hotword detection .

Skynet is always listening
Stop saying "OK Google"? It's not like you accidentally say that phrase

The point is that it's still always listening

Check out Google history. Not talking browser but the actual google history. Has all sorts of stuff I said in there :silly:
I had to reboot my phone for it to take effect. I saved more battery!

I just checked my history and it only lists what I said when long pressing for Google assistant, I thought you meant it was going to list every conversation I had while phone being next to me lol

Yes but when turned off, if u open Google and say OK Google it still hears it and prompts you to set up your voice

Because you're in Google! That feature can't be turned off.
The hot word detection is for when you're in a different app.
