Overclock stock (Rooted) 851 (Can't find kernel) - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I feel like a noob for asking but after genuinely searching the site for a few hours I have been unable to find any kernel compatible with my stock rom version 5.0.1 and phone t-mobile us 851. Is there one available and if not is there any way I can overclock my phone without installing a custom rom and a kernel over it. I really appreciate any answers. Thank you. Also just wanted to mention that before asking I actually tried installing incompatible kernels pretty much knowing that they wouldn't work (thank goodness I backed up lol).

Rooted stock ROM + custom kernel?

I am rooting my 2.2 phone tonight and all I want to do is get rid of the damn 30fps cap, remove bloatware and keep everything else pretty much stock. Is it possible to load a custom kernel when using a stock rom or do I need to use a custom rom as well? I really like how sense integrates facebook into the contacts and don't want to lose that.
Also, any kernel/rom recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have an 003 evo with a Novatek screen.

Most custom kernels work with any ROM, as long as they are for the same build! I put emphasis on this because if you use the wrong ROM/Kernel/Radio combo, you could brick your phone. So do so very carefully. Only use a kernel/radio if it is built for a specific build number.
So I need to find a kernel that is for the 3.26.651.6 build that I want to install? Do you know which kernel will work?
I've had good luck with netarchy's kernels(currently using v4.18). You can find them in the dev section. Using a stock ROM here.

i just flashed this today, so far i'm pretty impressed and liking it, especially since i'm also using Netarchy's HTC OTA froyo final build, both work perfect together so far, i've seen my fps so far bounce to 47fps, lol, sweet.
Thanks for the input guys. I used netarchy's kernel with the rooted 2.2 rom that got installed during the 2.2 root process. It works great and looks awesome, it's so smooth.
New To rooting and all
Hello Everyone;
I have a Droid X running stock ROM version 2.2 I have rooted to remove bloatware but have not done much else. I am interested in using setcpu but do not want to do so unless I can monitor CPU temp. I am wondering where to find the kernel for this, what is it called, and how do I install it step-by-step.
Sorry if this has already been answered but I have been searching for quite some time and can not seem to find the answer.
Thanks For the help.

Here for a friend

Hello again,
its been over four years since i was here last. had an HTC hero that came with 1.5 (those were the days). moved on to iphones but anyways.
Have a co-worker who is middle eastern and doesn't quite have a grasp on our language or all this rooting stuff so I came here to ask for him.
He has the acro S, build 6.2.b.1.96 (i think i wrote it right) and I believe its on 4.1.2; he is looking for an an official/unofficial kitkat rom. does such a thing exist, i have browsed this site and all I see are custom ROMs (that's the norm) but he is convinced by rooting and loading a custom ROM that puts him at risk for some malicious files being added to his device by the creator of the ROM. he can't be convinced otherwise.
Also, if there is no stock kitkat rom that he can load, what is the next newest rom he can load ?
sorry for the ramble, thanks for the help, and if theres an easier way to root like a one-click job, id appreciate the insight.

No such thing im afriad. I make a few of the different ROMs here and if your friend is paranoid about people messing with the ROM and adding things that they shouldnt im afraid he has to stick with the 4.1.2 official version as that is the latest.
This also needs to be moved to the general section as it isnt a development thread.
He is on the latest stock ROM which Sony can provide.
If you want an one-click way, you can find some software do this. Otherwise here you can fellow:
1. Unlock your devices first. ( I think it's not unlock) ( https://sites.google.com/site/projectfreexperia/download/bootloader-unlock )
2. Find a 4.1.2 root kernel here.
3. Fastboot flash boot kernel_xxx.elf
Then I think it's OK.

Can anyone enlighten my view on this phone?

Hello, name's Mike, have been in the android side for a while and it's my first time actually owning an US version of a phone, the N900T (T-Mobile Note 3) running 5.0 stock TW. (I don't live in the US)
So please, enlighten me!
ROOT AND RECOVERY
I have tried to root it and did it successfully, however when I tried to get a custom recovery on it, I only got boot loops so far, tried various tutorials, none of them have yet worked out for me.
CUSTOM ROMS
Are there any current custom rom development for this phone? I've seen lots of KK roms but I was looking to get a stable lollipop AOSP like rom like CM12 but without crashes or battery drain. Does anyone know any good roms that are stable?
PORTING
Also! How do you port a N9005 rom to a 900T? I've seen some methods by flashing a BT+Wifi fix or something like that but it seems outdated and I don't want to brick my phone just yet.
Please, please help me out, I am really out of it. Used to Custom rom on a Huawei U8650, Galaxy S2 and on my G2, but this is harder due to it being a carrier phone.
Thanks for your comprehension.
Did you download the right TWRP? Get the tar file and odin it.

Did you check the N900T development forum? There is quite a few to select from. I.E. Slim

Sorry can't help you with porting.

Rooting, Kernal, Rom, S Pen Fix ?'s

Sorry to bother you guys, but I'm really having trouble getting this all figured out. My S Pen is way off (several mm to the right) and I want to root my Note 8 Wi Fi, Build # KOT49H.N5110UEU2CO13, running Android Version 4.4.2, to fix the issue. I have read on multiple posts that Civato's Kernal and ROM is the best way to fix this. Is there any comprehensive guide available to go from a stock, touchwiz, unrooted Note 8 to fully rooted, running Civato's Kernal and ROM?
I know this is asking a lot, but I've searched a ton and gotten a lot of conflicting information. I just bought my tablet and really don't want to brick it or mess something up. Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

Looking for an all day use rom

tl;dr: for a galaxy s9 exynos (international) want to magisk root but twrp needs a kernel without dm-verity so in looking for a recommended kernel but rather an everyday rom using a kernel without dm-verity
Thnx
Been using an honor 8 for ages witch never really got a good community or rom scheme
But I'm now on a galaxy s9 but twrp tells me I need a kernel without dm-verity and with this I need a tad help to choose one.
I'd rather get a great everyday user rom with dm-verity disabled in its kernel because I'm also looking for an everyday use rom.
Haven't flashed kernels or roms since I had my galaxy s3 but I probably use some recommendations on what to use sheer then my good friend Google gone hello me most of the way, otherwise I'll ask somewhere
Thnx for your time
just go stock and uninstall all the crap you dont like. the kernel nowadays is so good, youd be surprised what a fresh install of the stock stuff (minus all the garbage you, and nobody else for that matter, wants on their phones) will be capable of
