Pull down on the top menu with a (2) finger swipe. Click and hold on the setting (gear) icon until it begins to spin. Release and open settings. It will say system ui tuner has been enabled. In the ui tuner you can find the battery percentage mod.

Good man. Exactly what I was after!
Can't wait u til the forums get more active to see some ROMs and cure my addiction haha

Only problem it's inside the battery and impossible to see with my eyes ;(

Sorry to bring this old thread up again....
i am running pure nexus with substratum, is there a way now, to show the battery percentage NOT inside the battery icon (very impossible to see) but on its side? (like in every other android devices, like xperia, samsung, etc.)

Not for now

If you will upload your framework-res.apk and systemui.apk (systemui.odex also if pure Nexus isn't deodexed) to where I can get it, I'll try to put it on there for you. I might need the services.jar and services.odex as well.

[Q] [REQ] Battery icons from Nexus theme?

Just wondering if it's possible for someone to port the battery icons from this nexus theme over to the Evo...
It's in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810383
There's a .zip at the bottom of the first post with the battery graphics. I just really like the gauge one.
I did try to do it myself, but it's apparently just a little beyond what I know how to do at this point.

It would totally depend on what ROM youre using. I use that battery meter Screenshot but I had to compile it into the framework because the ROM I'm using didnt have it. If youre using a ROM that already has a meter in the battery, then all you'd have to do is replace the images.
Oh like one that uses the circle battery or something similar?

Yep. Any ROM that is already configured to report the battery in 1% increments, whether its a circle or a battery with the number in it, whatever. Its already set up, so all you have to do is replace the .pngs. If its not, then youd have to recompile your framework to allow for the changes.
Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it, going to have to give it a try. I guess it was your sceen shot in the other thread that made me start looking for that.

These themes look sweet...think theme porter would work?
no clue...maybe someone else could chime in on that. been doing some reading and messing around with this myself. guess i'll have to stop being flash-happy after taking the time to make all these changes!

Mod request. Softkeys+1% battery

Can someone please zip a mod together that will modify softkey color change together with a 1% battery mod? I'm running stock, deodexed. Obviously rooted. I flashed the stock ics blue softkey zip. Then found a 1% battery mod. One cancelled out the other. I'd like em both. Is this possible to toss together? I have no idea how to...so here I am. Asking.

Take the images of the softkeys, they re 8 or 10 files in res/xhdpi folder in SystemUI.apk and drop them in the SystemUI.apk in the flashable zip of the 1% battery mod. Then flash again the battery mod. Voila!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Wow. Cool. I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

Post the links to the two mods here if you want and I'll zip/sign it
I believe if you swap out the files in the apk and try to flash it will fail due to checksum mismatch
Even better. OK give me a min.

Oops, My offer was a little bit more than my skills.. it seems the apk has a manifest too, so I need to learn how to rebuild that too before I can add an updated version to a flashable zip. Will post here if/when I figure that out, but don't wait please, I got stuff to do today.

it won't have a problem, I've done this many times
the flashable zip won't be signed but he can turn signature verification off in cwm recovery.
I did what nikosrs4 suggested with replacing the png images and rebuilding the apk and then zip, both signed.
Stupidly realized that I am on 4.0.3 so I can't test this now anyway..
didn't notice the option in cwm to not check signatures before, that's handy
pm me if you want to test it, I don't want to post it here and hose someone's phone because I made a stupid mistake that I can't test.

Right now I'm using ICL53F Deodexed Rooted Busyboxed + Softkeys + APM/AB by bigxie with the softkeys_mod_ICL53F mod.
But I've flashed a couple of other roms and you can't have both the battery 1% mod and the menu dots on both sides. Either one or the other regardless of the roms. Menu dots on the both sides was ridiculously useful.
Thanks

[REQ] Gradient Fix for settings screen/etc

A while back on my galaxy nexus someone had created a gradient fix which fixes the ugly gradient effect on the settings menus and other programs that use the same gradient.
Anyone that can do the same for this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588613
I'll take a look at it later today. Because recently Google changed the background to an XML file instead of an image like it used to be so it may prove to be useless.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Edit: Yeah unforturnetly i cant port it, since 4.2 its now an xml that controls the background_holo, However i could remove the xml's and then just use the image... hmm... gives me an idea... can you give me your rom's framework-res.apk and be willing to test something for me?
Yea sure, where do i find that file with root manager?
I found one in system/framework/framework-res.apk hope this is what you need!

It is Paranoid Android Beta 8...
If it fails, i should just be able to dirty flash beta 8 again right?

Yeah. That will reflash the system partition.
Sucks about the XML change. Why change it and still not fix the banding? Do their engineers not see it?

No.. they've already acknowledged the issue and promised a fix. Just didn't happen in time for the 4.2.1 update (they had to fix that December bug quickly)
I think UBER forgot about this
There has to be a way! Can the ROMS be modified to look at a png instead of a xml file?

Sorry bout that did forget.. but am fixing it now... all i did was delete the xml's and added the pictures instead. :silly: will see what happens.
Edit: Okay here you go OP, test this and see what happens.

Flash in recovery no need to wipe anything. Just make sure you have the the original zip handy in case you need to reflash. Good luck :fingers-crossed:

Ahh, really? I missed that! Thanks
I always just assumed that's how they designed it, I mean the first time if it was an image, someone had to have designed and approved that image right? That's why I always just assumed that's what they wanted it to look like, Cuz they could have just used a plain image if they intended it to be a flat background.... Lol,
(Now this makes me think they DID intend it to look like that, but when sooooo many users said they didn't like it they decided "hmm, let's just call it a bug and we'll change it later" hahaha)

Navigation Bar Personalization

Does someone know if there is any application to easily edit the icons on the navigation bar?

Thank you for the reply,
With "Navigation bar" I mean the bottom galaxy nexus's bar (where you can find the Home and Back buttons). Not the status bar.
Oh sorry, I misunderstood!

Replacing the icons is just 3/5 icons, that shouldn't be that hard.

I downloaded and installed masturmods but unfortunately when I go to apply the changes for the navigation bar's icons nothing happens
I think it's compatible only with ICS and not with JB
i have followed the soft keys thread here on the forum and had to factory reset the phone twice.. so be carefull, it even worked once but then after a reboot it all disapeared :/
will be happy to get a better way to make that instead of using metomorph again
Try Sorcery rom. Has that option. Has like 100 to choose from and you can still change em manually if desired.
Today's CM10.1 nightly brings some personalizations for the navigation bar. :highfive:
In part I solved the problem, even if with this, for now, we can't change buttons images.
Just use 7zip to open systemui.apk. drag and replace your own PNG into it (don't extract, just open). Use any available systemui cwm flashable zip in themes thread, replace with your edited systemui.apk. Flash in recovery, clear cache/dalvik. Reboot.

Delete Halo?

Now that Halo is open, I foresee pretty much every ROM update to now include it. Personally, I don't see the big deal about the feature and wonder if there is a way to delete it from a ROM either prior to or after flashing. Anyone know?

Well, I understand that. I'm just wondering if there is anyway to get rid of it. If not, I'll have to live with it being there. In my eyes, just not enabling it would be the same as having a Facebook app even though I'm not on Facebook.
Maybe I'm missing something. Is there a way to disable it in settings, so I don't have that icon in my notification pull down?

Its part of the framework. So I don't think so. You could always use a ROM without Halo.

Bummer. I just noticed that at least 2 ROMs I poke around with have updated to include it..so, I'm guessing most will eventually and my options for avoiding it will be limited. Not a big deal and maybe I'll grow fond of it, but I don't think so. Seems kind of redundant to me..I'll just have to learn to live with it I suppose.

Yeah. Its more of a feature that compliments the expanded desktop mode where you dont have a notification drawer visible. But not everyone wants that. I feel the same way.
For example, I use expanded desktop but just the soft keys are hidden, I leave the status bar visible.

yea it is getting baked in as is being done with uxylon, carbon and what seems now to be p.a.c.
while with p.a.c. it is using its PA pulled parts for it, uxylon and carbon have it baked in so there really is no removing it
Like every option, it should have a disable option...
