[Q]Cracked Glass - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how is it going everyone,
i got a problem, it's my first time. Some local shops asked my girlfriend 60€ to replace her camera glass, since we are not living with our parents and we are studying i just googled the problem and saw that glasses&co didn't cost that much so i'm still trying to be able to repair it. The problem seem to be only with the glass, i just ordered online this Toolkit:#291553644760 on ebay.it
hoping it will work, then i ordered this: #331623081947 on ebay.it
i was like: "too easy, something gonna go wrong" AND HERE IT GOES.
today i recived the camera without the lens, here is the problem, should i order a lens? is it easy to put in it? can i do it with my Toolkit or do i need no Toolkit at all? i hope you will answer soon because i have 7 days to send back the camera and try to order one with lens.
Anyway i found this lens, is it what i'm looking for? #351475263688 on ebay.it
BIG THANKS EVERYONE!
i hope someone gonna solve my problem, stay awesome!
Luigi from Italy

Anyone?
Anyone who knows more then me? Pleeease

If so, get this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Camera-Glas...668631?hash=item4aefdab897:g:36IAAOSwyQtV5sQL and watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aODndvN2zII to help you understand how to fix it.

If your rear camera is working without issue and you just need the lens assembly, I found this on eBay. It says it's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
It's the gray colored one @$13.99. You would choose the color you need:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=151794398884&alt=web
I also found this for $8.99.
It doesn't say it's OEM:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=191680250481&alt=web
As I mentioned, if your existing rear camera is operating without issue, you just need to replace the lens assembly. You can return the camera you purchased and just replace the lens assembly in the correct color needed.
Search for an OEM lens assembly. If searching on eBay, find a seller with excellent feedback, etc. Choose your color and follow the video in the link from the previous post. Installation looks to be straight forward, although I'd do additional research to be certain.

It's really weird that it comes with no glass. Here is what i found http://www.witrigs.com/oem-camera-lens-for-lg-g4-black and need $14.99.

[Q] camera replacement

I dropped the phone and broke the back camera glass cover. I ordered the part online.. but after a few days, a black spot appeared on my lens (if you open the camera app). Initially, I thought it was a dust or something but after the replacement glass came in, I tried to clean it but it won't come off.. so, now I'm thinking it's a scratch. So... it looks like I need to replace the camera. Has anyone else done it? I want to... but, I don't to bother if a replacement won't be the original quality.

It's not that I don't know how... I've watched tutorials. Quality is the issue.
If you need a new camera it looks like you don't have a choice in this so you should do it

[Q] Cracked Camera Lens Replacement

Today, I dropped my S3 from about waist height bottom down, and the camera lens cracked. First of all, I'm extremely disappointed as it never fell from very high, AND it was momentarily suspended by my headphone cord before hitting the ground. Terrible. Anyways, I'm looking to buy a replacement part for the cracked lens, but am unsure of a few things.
What replacement part am I supposed to buy exactly? Looking through eBay, I saw a part that costs about $15 which replaces like the whole entire plastic back (underneath the battery case), including the camera lens. I also saw a replacement part for the entire camera itself which was about $45. Which one do I get (Please say the $15 one)? Also, does it matter if the part says it's built for the i9300 model? Or is it the same as our T999 one? Thanks a lot for your help.
Oh, if anyone knows anything about whether or not I can get the part warrantied by Mobilicity or Samsung, please let me know.

Link?
The device should still be under warranty and they will charge for it.
The back part for $15 would be your best get if it's only the glass that is cracked. I wouldn't buy the whole camera piece since it's built for a different chipset.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think it's under Samsung or carrier warranty?
If you bought insurance, it would be. Samsung would probably ask you to send it to their svc center to get an estimate but that means time without the phone.
p.s. no case on the phone?
****e, didn't do anything like that. :/ Looks like I'm stuck with self repair. I didn't have a case because I wasn't expecting it to break that easily.. I remember having the HTC Incredible S and dropping it on purpose to show people how durable it was.
Just to clarify, that $15 plastic part will have a new camera glass?

Sorry to hi-jack your thread, but i'm curious about the same replacement piece..
can anyone confirm the entire piece from the i9300 will fit the t999 with no issue? they look pretty much identical
I just messaged the eBay seller of the chassis replacement part. I can confirm that it comes with a lens cover to replace the cracked one. When I was watching the teardown video for the GS3, I saw that the part I want to replace has 3G/Network connectors on it. If the international part is used as a replacement part, our phone's might not work since the two variants use different network frequencies and all.

I also have a Galaxy S3 that I dropped today, cracking the back-side lens cover. My phone is an AT & T version, 4G. I'm not sure what "connectors" have to do wiith taking pictures, but does it look like the part described WON'T work for my 4G phone? Please advise.

The connectors have nothing to do with taking pictures, as the replacement part replaces just the camera glass. I'm just afraid that data will stop working properly or something like that if the connectors aren't right.

Glass/Plastic for the camera

Hi, I just noticed the glass over my camera lens or whatever it is is scratched. I've been searching for replacement parts but everywhere i see, there's only full housing/backplate sold in the net..Some of it doesn't even come with the glass thingy.
May I know whether I can find it anywhere?
Thanks.

i think it´s attached to the lens and sensor, so you must replace the whole camera part. no warranty if it´s not attached because i don´t know it exactly

At around 2:12 , you'll see the glass is not attached to the sensor. It is with the backplate. Problem is I can't find anyone selling just that piece of plastic/glass..

Where/When can I get a replacement camera module?

I ordered my Nexus 5X from bhphotovideo, shipping to Mexico. Sadly, I got a defective camera and bhphotovideo doesn't want to comply with customs here in Mexico so if I exchange my item I'll have to pay import taxes again (about 147 usd(even with this the phone was cheaper than buying it here in Mexico)).
I think the best option for me would be to replace the camera (it looks really easy) but I haven't been able to find a replacement camera module at a decent price.
Do you guys know a page where I could buy this? Or does someone knows when they might become available?
contact Google for a replacement/repair. they are usually better at customer service than LG. Ultimately call LG for a repair quote. It shouldn't be much.
what's wrong with it?

I think I'll try LG since they have offices here in Mexico, let's hope they help even though it was bought in the us
mate that looks more like dust between the lens and the back cover... i've seen this happen in a dslr where dust goes between the lens and the image sensor
if LG fails to repair your device (i say they will fix it) then you can always open it to clear the dust out.

I think that the spot might be in the sensor itself but it is worth a try
Will removing the back cover void the warranty?
Well I tried opening an though I couldn't remove the black spot it moved to another place... so I'm guessing it some dust really really stuck to the inner lens?
Any ideas of what I can use to clean it?

they sell cans that contain compressed air.. specially used for electronics.. you could try that if there's any opening around the lens.. but i doubt there will be any opening. to prevent dust going in, in the first place.
http://gokimco.com/blog/using-compressed-air-dusters-to-clean-electronic-circuit-boards
here's what it looks like
the first thing i'd do is try to figure out where the dust is sitting. most likely its just between the lens and the back cover lens which would make it really easy to fix
Today while sleeping I dropped my pillow on the charger of the nexus... and it fell to the floor
When I used the camera again the spot was gone and the camera is now working correctly D:
I got lucky I guess <3
