Using mobile data toggles - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that Marshmallow has a data toggle in quick settings.
But I also used Widgetsoid to create toggles, one of which was a data toggle. And I used Tasker to create a task that would turn on my mobile date with a certain text message.
But any data toggle is no longer working, is there a way to do this with Marshmallow?

If you're rooted you can try Toggle Data (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-toggle-data-5-0-widget-to-toggle-t2937936). It does require root, though.

[Q] how does switchpro widget disable data connections?

Hi,
been wondering about this: how does switchpro widget disable data connections?
It seems to work fine on my desire but when I go to settings I see data connection is still enabled and apn's haven't been renamed
Does it do anything in the background or am I missing a parameter?
Cheers
B
I have been trying to work out exactly what it does as well.
It certainly is not an APN re-namer like most, as this is something you can enable in switch pro's settings if you need too.
However like you said it also does not tap into the official HTC version like the sense widget, or CM6's modified power control widget.
Anybody ? I switch data connections off when I go to bed but when I unlock my phone in the morning I notice a 3g icon active (though it disables immediatly after)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
i cant even enable data connection using switchpro widget - the icon lights up but nothing happens
i have to manually turn on the connection in settings
i am only able to deactivate data connection using this widget

[Q] How to use tasker to toggle 3G data for HTC Desire?

Hi,
I would like to use tasker to toggle 3G data on and off within a certain period of time for example from 12pm to 1pm.
I've tried the net setting and the mobile data option toggle/apn option does not work for the Desire. Wifi works fine.
Any work around would be much appreciated.
Related to this post. Is renaming an apn the same as toggling the 3G mobile data connection? Does it save as much power?
Thanks.

Thanks, but I already use the htc widget to turn mobile data on/off, but I want it automaticly, jusr like in windows mobile 6.x...
Check Juice Defender app.
It lists the following as it's features.
- Mobile Data toggle automation
- 2G/3G toggle automation**
- WiFi toggle automation + Auto-Disabling option

Toggle Mobile Data, Wifi, GPS etc. with Cyanogenmod 13

Ist there any App that works correctly and safe to toggle this options? i used trigger, tasker, automatelt but sometimes it works, sometimes not. tasker show mobile data and some options red and even if i allow completely root permissions mobile data is red. root access to all apps are given in the developer options.

Curious about this symbol in my status bar. 2/3 circle around + sign

Hey gang,
Just curious what this symbol is, it's popped up occasionally in my status bar, especially when traveling.
I can't seem to share the screenshot. It's next to my Wi-Fi symbol and it's a circle that's 2/3rds filled around a plus sign. It doesn't seem to show in any active app.
Thanks for your expertise.
Steve
It means Data Saver is enabled. When on, background data usage for apps are restricted when not on WiFi. Useful for managing small prepaid data plans or nearing mobile data throttle caps.
Settings > Networks > Mobile Data > Menu button > Data Saver
You can whitelist specific apps to have background data while Data Saver is enabled by selecting the Unrestricted Data Access option here as well.
There is also a toggle for it available in the Notification Panel you pull down from the status bar. It looks similar to the status bar icon.

That explains a lot, thank you! I wondered why MMS weren't downloading automatically. Time to go turn that off, I'm lucky enough to have unlimited still. You rock!
