greyed out WiFi - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

I'm having a problem where everytime i turn off wifi and I'm on data, i cant reeanble wifi. Each time i try it is frozen on turning it on then eventually fails.
I have made sure to wipe properly and clean installed rom so its fresh.
Even checked the md5 of both kernel and rom files and they're correct.
Rom: atrium
Kernel: 8.1 arter kernel
+i can only reboot the phone to gain wifi back

Try flashing an older version of the Arter97 kernel.
You might want to try version 5.0
If that doesn't solve the wifi issue you will need to do a fresh odin
flash of the stock official Samsung S6 Edge+ firmware and start
from there.
Good luck,
Have a nice evening.

wifi is poor and hanging on Optaining IP

hi , i using JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.3b Stable | Android 4.0.4 Rom
everything is perfect and seems no problem but when i want to connect to internet with Wifi the On - Off work well
the strench is excellent
but after set WEP key and Try to connect it not work and just showing optaining IP ... continusly
i Try to change kernel from ARC Night 2.2 Jocker to 3.1 and Install Wifi module from Recovery ...
i try Stock ICS Kernel 4.1.A.0.562 with CWM 5.5.0.4 too and even i install stock wifi module
but none of them solve my Probelm ....
is this some problem with 4.04 Version ??? i use 2.3.4 version before and wifi work very well !! so what happend now ??
is there any Trick to solve this ??
thanks ///
Hi mate,
Did you let the phone boot up fully before you flashed the wifi modules. Or did you go into recovery straight after and flash the modules?
They don't work correctly if you boot the phone up first.
EDIT. If that doesn't work, then the only suggestion that I can think of is to use flash tool and just flash the original kernel back, nothing else. Then you can try again from fresh.
Hope I was able to help
hi , thanks for answer quickly
well i just use fastboot to load my Arc Nigt kernel
after that i power on my Mobile and i use volume down to load in Recovery and Wipe data and then install JJ's HYBRID 3.2 and right after that instal hot fix 3.3
then Reboot
after Reboot i came in recovery again and install Wifi modules and then reboot ...
is there any wrong with this way ??
That should be the correct way.
Try to flash the kernel again without flashing the ROM. There might be a conflict.
So leave the ROM on that your using now, flash the kernel, straight into recovery, flash the modules, reboot.
Don't forget to clear the dalvik cache, cache, and the battery stats after you have rebooted. I'd also recommend doing this before the above method as well just in case. This will stop the kernel from draining lots of battery and maybe fix the wifi as well.
I've never tried flashing a different ROM at the same time, so i'm not sure how it works. Give the method above a go, and let me know if it works. I know what to do then myself
If you still don't have any luck, try inFamous kernel. It's very stable and quite battery friendly, as long as you don't OC it too much.
(In case you didn't know, you can press any button to get into CWM, not just the volume down button)
thanks i will check it
It's in the advanced section right at the bottom. The dalvik and the battery stats are in there

since im coming from stock 4.4.2 do I only wipe cache n dalvik before flashing
You will most likely have to factory reset since you are downgrading.
You can try just wiping dalvik, but if it hangs at boot youll have to factory reset.
one more question

hank you very much but can you answer me one question is there anyway you or another could port the revolutionary s5 v3 to the i747 it looks so amazing they only have it for the s3 i9300 not the s3 i747
Afaik, porting from tbe i9300 is a pretty difficult process. The device is very different from ours. Not saying it isnt possible, but I dont think we've really ever had any ports from that device.
I wont be able to try as I just have too much on my plate already and not enough time as it is. Sorry....maybe someone else will tackle it....

well thank you very much for responding you've been a very patient n helping hand if you could maybe you could pass it around to some of the other developers you are in contact with I know of about 30 people personally that would love to have that on there i747 not counting the people ive seen on here asking for a rom from the s5 but no big deal THANKS AGAIN
I was watching this thread because I had the exact same question. I tried installing the "StockMOD Custom ROM 4.3 RLS2.1" and my S3 wouldn't even boot past the Samsung screen. I left it there for 15 minutes and nothing. I tried wiping dalvik/cache from recovery and then it wouldn't even get that far. From that point on when I tried to reinstall the ROM it would go by and then when it got to the rebooting stage it would tell me "No OS installed. Are you sure you want to reboot?", or something of that nature. I then installed the Deodex Debloat Version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998 and it installed/booted on the first try. Only problem is that Wi-Fi does not work & not sure of what my next step should be to get Wi-Fi working. I came from 4.4.2 OTA. Should I install the 4.3 modem or try flashing the StockMOD Rom again? I'm confused because it was stated that it didn't need to be installed.
Edit: I installed the StockMOD ROM directly over top without wiping anything and it worked. If I just want the "Deodex Debloat" version should I wipe, reinstall that ROM, then install the 4.3 modem since it didn't work before?
Edit: Second time flashing the Deodex Debloat ROM & Wi-Fi is working but now I have no data/4G. Help! LoL.

if you flashed it without wiping cache n dalvik- dirty flash then it should have worked unless u came from another 4.4.2 rom mine is working fine
correct me if im wrong
If ypu updated to 4.4.2, and then flashed a 4.3 rom, you have to use either the MJ2 or kt747 kernel or wifi wont work.

I would get either no wifi or no data depending on which modem was used after flashing the rom.
01 - Via TWRP (2.7.1.0) dirty flash d2att_4.3_MJB_Debloat_Deodex_v1.2.zip
02 - Reboot without wiping cache/dalvik = freeze at AT&T logo
03 - Wipe cache/dalvik = freeze at AT&T logo
04 - Factory Reset = success with the exception of no wifi
05 - Flash MJB modem = Wifi now enabled but no data. (baseband unknown/imei null)
06 - Flash NE4 modem = data/baseband/imei restored, but no wifi again
07 - Flash UCUEMJ2_Insecure_kernel.zip + wipe cache/dalvik & reboot = somplete succcess (wifi+data all working)
At least for my experience Doc is 100% correct. Not sure how you were able to flash the StockMOD ROM without having to flash a kernel. Especially when "How to flash" on the StockMOD page says "5. Flash Kernel (For WiFi)". Not saying you are lying, just that I don't understand why you didn't need to.

As for why, starting in 4.3 (MJB) samsung moved the modules required for wifi to work. They are now included in a different partition. Custom kernels (or rather any kernel but the original stock) look for the modules (drivers) to be in /system/lib/modules (the location on earlier builds). Since they are not there, the system doesnt know how to use the wifi radio resulting in no working wifi.
We got lucky with the MJ2 kernel. It was the first 4.3 leak, and just by chance I tried it on a different leak (for the T999) while trying to figure out the wifi issue and it worked! They simply had not made the change in that test build. Pure luck! The kt747 kernel works because it was built from source and modified to use its own modules which are included in the kernel package.
It has been a good while, so as for where the modules are located now im not suren. But if you browse to /system/lib/modules and find wlan.ko, youll see it is symlinked to /system/lib/modules/prima/prima_wlan.ko. Youll also notice there is no prima folder or file. In older builds, the wlan.ko file was actually there.
Hope that made sense and hope I got most of it correct. (Going from memory)

whatever kernel that was built into the rom is what im on I listed it in my reply before, I haven't flashed anything else ONLY THE ROM, mine booted right up n works great,
The more I think about it, it makes sense to me in both situations.
Id expect it to work on 4 4.2 because the wifi drivers are still in the same location, so as long as youre on 4.3 or above, it should work, as it apoears to do for you. But there are ithers who it did not work for and they have to use one of those other kernels. So it could be newer drivers not being compatible. Either way, if wifi is not working, I do know the kernel change will fix it.

well I have a twrp backup of it on my phone if you have some way of opening it, maybe somehow I could send it to you n whatever you find may be a tremendous help to you in how to fix the wifi n not having to flash the other kernels
I dont think there would be anything in a nandroid backup that would help. But tbh, right now I have no intention of digging into it any further. First because we already do have a pretty simple solution, and second because im already swamped with other projects and problems I've promised others I would work on.

[Q] WiFi not working on cm 11?

I'm running cm 10.2.1 that I installed using cwm Recovery. I had to modify the update script using root explorer before the install but after doing that the install went smoothly and I haven't had any real issues with the ROM. I had almost given up trying to update to cm 11 but decided to try the install with philz recovery which actually worked. However, after the update to cm 11 my mobile data no longer works and I am not even able to connect to WiFi. At first I thought that this may have something to do with the APN settings since I am using the boost version of the sprint phone, but the APN settings on my cm 10.2.1 are set for sprint and work fine and they don't change once I install the update. Also, I don't know for sure but I don't even think that the APN being incorrectly set would effect my ability to connect to WiFi. Somebody please give me some advice on this. Thank you.

When you installed CM11, did you do clean install?
PhilZ has a setting where you can do a wipe solely for the purpose of installing a new ROM. (Philz is my one and only recovery.)
You cannot simply flash CM11 over CM10. You need to do a clean install, so you should use a backup utility to backup all your user apps. (You'll also want to download a GAPPs package that is compatible with CM11.)
APN configurations would not affect your WiFi connectivity. DIrty flashing CM11 over CM10 might, it could also be related to a custom kernel. Make sure if you're using a custom kernel, that it is compatible with whatever Android version you're using (e.g. 4.4.4)
Hope this helps.

In the WiFi menu I choose my network and then enter the password and first It tells me "authenticating" which is normal, but then instead of connecting it just says authentication problem. That's all it says. I have tried turning WiFi off then back on, rechecked the password, reboot the phone and everything else I can think of.
This was the same for the 08/13/14 and the 08/14/14 nightly builds for the d2lte which I downloaded from the cm updater in settings>about phone>CyanogenMod updates. I used the app root explorer to extract the zip and then went in to the update script and modified it so that I would not get a status 7 error. Then I zipped the files back up like they were only now with the modified update script, and booted into recovery. I am using philz touch 6.48.4 for the d2lte which I flashed with mobile Odin pro. I chose the clean for new ROM option and then installed the ROM and then flashed the gapps-kk-20140105-signed.zip. then I rebooted the phone and began the set up process. It seems that everything works fine other than that I am unable to connect to WiFi.
I also tried the same process, except after cleaning to install a new ROM I also wiped the dalvik cache. This had no effect.

First and foremost, those nightlies you tested are Android 4.4.4. Here is a 4.4.4 GAPPs package: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23610159112653416
Why are you tweaking the updater script? This should not be necessary. I flash ROMs just fine with PhilZ. Also, you do not need to flash recoveries via ODIN. You can download the .zip (not .md5) file and flash it in recovery. The recovery will flash the recovery over the recovery.
When you reflash the ROM and you have a fresh clean slate on the phone, unplug the router for 30 seconds to power cycle the router, and plug back in. The router may be having an issue with the MAC Address to your network card in your phone.
You can show the password in the WiFi interface to ensure that you are typing the correct password. If you suspect that you are getting the password wrong, you can go into your router's settings and change the password. (e.g. http://192.168.0.1 --> Change the security settings).
Give it another shot. Do not edit the updater script. I've never had a status 7 error. If needed, reflash the recovery as a zip file in recovery.
I hope this helps.

Are you sure your mobile data is, in fact, switching off? There could just be some latency between the WiFi switching off and mobile data coming on.
You might try clean flashing the ROM again, or clean flashing a newer nightly altogether.

The ROM controls the wifi, not the modem. Strange that multiple ROMs can't even be enabled, I suspect data is left somewhere, do full wipe to install a new ROM so all old data etc is wiped and make sure you are not installing app data etc from a backup for this.
Else it might be the kernel.........

I have been on this ROM for a while now. This morning I rebooted my phone and it stuck in a bootloop. I was able to get to recovery, wiped everything and did a clean install. Now I cannot get Bluetooth to turn on. Any suggestions? The ROM thread is closed so thought I would try here. Thanks.
Bluetooth depends on certain libraries that get replaced on install. Check a pure stock and assure that your phone works. Then reflash.
Otherwise, just upgrade and use the new magisk module approach after loading my kernel.
