Lollipop Quick settings - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

This has been annoying me lately but I don't know when it started. I'm running 5.1.1, using fingerprint lock (tried also with pin lock, same thing), with a 10 minute delay of locking after screen off. For some reason, in the lock screen I no longer have access to quick settings, even when the screen isn't pin/fingerprint locked (within the 10 minutes). Was this changed on purpose for "security purposes" and now even when you don't want the lock screen protected, you have no access to quick settings?
Is it just me? Or is that the way it's meant to be/has always been?

G2 forgets to lock itself..... HELP!

Hey fellas, to lock my phone I use the pattern lock, but since yesterday every time I lock the phone with power button or sleeps itself after 2 minutes, it doesn't show me the 'draw pattern screen', just the regular 'slide to unlock'.
So, I go and set the pattern up again, and lock it, it shows the 'draw pattern screen' and only shows once, after I lock the phone again, it won't appear anymore.
I'm using CM6.1.1, obviously rooted phone.
Any help or suggestions? Moderators feel free to move this post to cyanogen's thread if needed. Don't know if this might be a problem of CM itself.
Did you enable any of the quick unlock settings in Cyanogenmod settings? I bet my breakfast (which I already ate, sorry) that its because you need to review those CM settings. In User Input or something or other.
Uncheck all of those settings (that enable quick unlock)
(besides those pattern locks are easily hacked -- with the right light and the right amount of grease from your finger anyone can see your "path to unlock" - Im just sayin!)
Sorry man, that quick unlock feature is definetly not checked, it's under "settings/cyanogenmod settings/input settings", quick unlock not checked.
U owe me a pancake lol.
I dont remember getting creative with locking and unlocking settings, the weirdest thing I did was to install a few themes to the phone. Imma try putting everything to default, and start from there.
I've experienced some unlock and lock issues with cm6 aswell. It seemed as if there are settings that conflict with eachother. What happened to me was I changed it to rotory unlock with lock set to immediately engage on screen off. After changing that it wouldn't lock but the screen would turn off. I had to set it to 1 second and then reboot then it would lock just fine.

What surprises me is that it stopped working for some reason, because I've been using cm6.1.1 for a couple of weeks and worked perfectly..

don't remember where the setting is but it sounds like the time-out setting is not proper, the phone does not lock right away if it is sitting on the table and goes to sleep on it's own but you can set it to do that, i had mine set to 30 seconds so that if the screen turned off while i was waiting for something to download or happen i didn't have to unlock with my pin each time. look through the settings (probably security or cm settings) for the proper tweak, i would give better instructions but i'm currently on miui ROM

Yeah, these settings are found under CM Settings->User Interface (down at the bottom). I don't think these will be the cause though, since the OP said he didn't really mess with any of the settings. Also, I don't think the settings would cause the "Slide to Unlock" screen to appear (the phone would simply turn the screen back on to whatever was last on, no pattern unlock, no lock screen).
Have you installed any new widgets or lockscreen apps recently? Out of curiosity, have you tried any of the other lock types just to see if they do the same thing (like PIN or password).

normal Lock Screen vs Locked Lock Screen behavior & trigger

I just want to get this straight because I actually thought the encryption settings on the phone were leading to the wonky behavior I noticed about the standard swipe away lock screen and a protected (PIN or whatever) lock screen... that led me to waste hours while the phone encrypted & then eventually screwed up during the decryption of my memory card.
Basically, the standard unprotected lock screen can just be wiped away - everyone knows that. But on every Android device I've owned up to this one (Hero, EVO, Nexus S, Photon, Evo 3D) when you set up a password lock you can set how long a time period passes before that actually kicks in. It seemed like this phone was no different, at first. I mean, there's a timer setting under the password lock options.
However, what I've been able to figure out is (and mentioned in another thread) the moment you set a password protected lock screen it replaces the standard swipe away lock screen all together. For reference, on other phones even if the password lock is triggered, when you turn on the phone the first thing you see is your standard lock screen and whatever information you have there - if you choose to swipe that away the lock screen you actually have to unlock is there. One of the reasons I don't like the implementation on this GS2 is because I actually like the large easy-to-glance clock and information on the lock screen (and missed call, msgs updates, etc). However, that's besides the point, which is that there's a setting for the password lock Timeout - which is screwy because it only takes effect if your screen turns itself off (on the timer set in the normal display screen timeout settings). If you turn the phone off yourself, the password protected lock screen is activated immediately.
I've found that having a 1-2 minute screen timeout is perfect because it lets me either be distracted for a bit while I do stuff on the phone (watch tv?) or try to show someone something on the phone without having to worry about it turning off on them. Normally it's not a problem because I instinctively turn off the screen myself when I'm done using it. In the few days I've had this phone I don't WANT to turn it off because I know I'll have to unlock it again. I usually love the security of a password lock but this seems inconvenient and, well, stupid.
So no password lock = lockscreen with useful information at a glance.
Set up a password lock = ^^ useful screen gone.
Password lock timeout only applies to the screen auto-shutoff = if you manually shut off your screen you HAVE to unlock it even if you turn it on a moment later.
I haven't really seen anyone say anything about this and I guess I'm a bit surprised by that. Again, one of the first things I did when I got the phone was transfer a larger capacity memory card to it that had a number or picture albums and movie transfers to it - then during the time I set up the phone I chose to set up a password lock, then encrypt it (took about 5 or 6 hours!). Since I did these things back to back I thought the encryption was the reason I had to unlock the phone almost every single time I turned it back on. It was only after I was playing with the settings (and eventually had to hard reset when the decryption process screwed up) that I see it didn't really have to do much with that at all. Well, aside from the fact that encryption requires a password lock, which leads to this whole thing. So anyway, yeah - that's like one of my only complaints about an otherwise killer device.
I'm gonna look into the framework when I get home. I remember seeing a bunch of lockscreen settings and triggers. Maybe its just a matter of changing a "true" to a "false"

[Q] My screen locks too often (requiring pattern or pin very often). Why?

I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue. I have to enable a PIN or pattern lock to allow a corporate secure wifi network setting to be saved and for something else (I think for my bank app). From the G4 settings it seems like you can set it to NOT lock when turning off with power button (last option), and a 30 minute timeout before it auto-locks. Yet despite that, mine still seems to lock requiring a pattern input and not just a swipe if I leave it on the table for just a minute. What am I missing?
Thanks all!

These settings are under Lockscreen. Right at the end. It should work, unless you have another app controlling locking.
Exactly.. it "should work"... but it isn't. It insist on locking all the time.. Could the fact that I"m connected to said secure WIFI cause that?? (vs just having an entry for it)
You could try going under the setting for Security - Phone administrators. Look if there is something that is controlling phone lock.
I know for my example, I must enable PIN locking, but my phone administrator for that account enables up to 30 minutes before forcing lock. So as long as I uncheck the setting for "Lock phone immediately on power button," my phone will immediately be unlocked within a 30 minute window where I don't need to enter my PIN.

Right, that's what I'm going for / expecting. I have 3 in there, Android Device Manager, Support & Protection (Verizon thing it looks like) and AirDroid. Only Android Device Managers is checked ON. ADM can obviously affect the lock screen and can change the lock password, but I don't see anything else which would affect this timeout being ignored. hmmmm
(Thanks, BTW!)
I was looking at my Smart Lock section and read the blurb about On-body detection, which was the only Smart Lock I had enabled. It says "Just unlock once and your device stays unlocked as long as you keep holding your device or carry it on you." .... "Your device will lock when it detects that it's been set down"..!! So, I've now turned on-body detection OFF as, in this case, it's working against me. Seems it's not too well integrated with the other options (ignores the Security Lock Timer).
If I don't post back, it's probably working as hoped.
Disabling on-body detection has definitely solved my issue with the G4 locking shortly after setting it down on the desk.

Why does it seem like my Lock Screen only works half the time? Not on trusted network

It seems like half the time when I unlock my phone (not using fingerprint), the lock screen won't be there. Is it based on a time-out feature? I'd like to have it there 100% of the time.
The phone isn't connected to any trusted networks or whatever HTC/android calls it that disables the lock screen.
Not sure all I know is when you use a password or fingerprint you can set how often you want it to lock
If you go into Settings then Security there are options for how long the screen is off before it automatically locks, it's set ridiculously high stock, at least for me. There is also an option in there to make the power button instantly lock, which is off by default. This drove me crazy too.

[A3 Nougat] Screen unlock issues

Hi all.
I keep having issues with screen unlock.
First it would only unlock via fingerprint and not using pin.
To test a little i then selected pattern + fingerprint and now it doesn't require either except on first boot up. I can simply swipe to unlock. However, if I scan a non registered finger it says "no match".
I'm not connected to trusted devices...
Any ideas what causes this behaviour? It shouldn't be due to removing stock bloatware, right (Samsung, Google, FB apps)?
Many thanks!
It sounds to me like you have one of the "Smart Lock" settings enabled. These override the pattern and fingerprint settings when specific conditions are met: the device is on your body, the device is at home, or the device is within range of your smartwatch.
They should really be called "Smart Unlock" settings. You can find these settings under "Lock screen > Secure lock settings".
Sort of an old thread, but I'm also facing issues with the unlock screen lag. Somehow it is related to the battery saving: since it slows down the CPU, apparently the system doesn't have time to "process" the unlock pattern (or PIN, same problem; and hang me if that process should take longer than a couple nanoseconds), and the screen goes back to black before the unlock is successful. As a temporary workaround, I've disabled battery saving, and now at least I can unlock with pattern or PIN. But the real problem must reside somewhere else. It's not acceptable that an operating system takes that long in processing the unlock.
