Issue with WiFi battery drain - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

After updating to 5.1.1 it was working flawlessly for couple of Weekes and all of sudden my battery was draining and found out that my wifi is running on the background even though I have switch off the wifi, location, gps, and wifi advance setting for searching location with WiFi being off.
Ever since that whenever I switch on the wifi and switch off it is still running in the background until I reboot my device.
Is there anyway to fix this?

Google Services battery drain

I'm getting high battery drain from Google Services both on my phone (rooted 4.0.2) and Xoom (rooted 4.0.3). It only seems to occur on Wi-Fi, where every time I turn my screen on, the status bar icons have turned to grey.
When this happens I see frequent wake ups in battery usage and Google Services at over 20%.
I've had this problem for a while now but it seems to be dependent on the Wi-Fi network I'm on. I get it constantly on a Netgear DGN1000 from Virgin, but not on either of the other routers I've tried on TalkTalk broadband at home.
Could this be a broadband or router problem?

Wifi/Mobile Data App

Hi.
I'm looking for an app that helps me switch between Wifi and Mobile Data automatically. Neither Juice Defender Ultimate nor Snapdragon nor Location Based Wifi works properly. The app should turn on wifi when my network is available and end wifi when not. And according to that simply turn on/off mobile data.
I tried search function but without success.
I got an LT18i and am on UHD 3.0.2 with advanced stock kernel (and this app or mod would be the only thing that's missing.) Everything else with ROM and Kernel works more than great
Thanks in advance
Odp: Wifi/Mobile Data App
Try apps like Setting Profiles or Tasker.

So you want to turn on WiFi, when your phone detects that WiFi network? Sorry, but phones cannot detect WiFi networks if WiFi is turned off.

yes, but there is something called location-based wifi that does a very similar task

Wi-Fi is possessed on CyanogenMod 10

Wi-Fi turns on automatically and will only leave hspa connection active for a few minutes at a time. This has been going on for about 2 months and keeps getting worse.
I have tried all 3 sleep policies under advanced settings. I have tried switching Wi-Fi connection managers and utilities and have deleted them altogether as well. I have tried disabling location over Wi-Fi and mobile networks. I have reset Wi-Fi networks and disabled autoconnect when reconnecting.
There are a few other things I've also tried but basically I've tried everything I know short of clean installing-which I intend on doing when 10.1 goes stable.

It turns out that the issue was with Internet commander. The solution was disabling the option to start internet in standby under screen off settings. Unfortunately that entirely disables internet until about 5 seconds after I turn the screen back on but the alternative is to need 4 battery charges per day instead of 1 or 2.

LG g3 WiFi issues

Is anyone else having this problem? My phone keeps dropping the WiFi signal even if I'm next to the WiFi router. The WiFi indicater shows good signal with all bars lit at all times and I don't get any notifications of signal being low but it still doesn't load/connect to anything. It's very sporadic, but regular.. once singal is lost it won't load anything for a minute or 2 even if the WiFi on the phone is turned off and on. I've tried resetting the router but the problem still persists. All other devices connected to the same WiFi don't have any problems. I'm using the virgin super hub by netgear.

Same over here. I have 3 other devices on the same router and none have a problem. Restarting the router does not solve the problem.

I have a similar issue at my partner's house. When I first got the phone I had no issues connecting to the 5 Ghz wi-fi connection, but lately I have issues with the 5Ghz, but connecting to his 2.4 Ghz connection works well. His device and other household devices work well on the 5 Ghz connection. It is annoying, but since the 2.4 Ghz seems quick, I am not going to worry too much about it right now. Hope there is a solution though.
I remember my z1 having similar problems...it was fixed by changing the security mode I think...wep..wpk...or something...just fool around with it...no harm in trying
I have a NetGear accesspoint that the G3 refuses to connect to regardless of the G or A bands. So frustrating.
Stard having this issue this weekend, thought it was the router location and I repositioned and still no help.
Hoping and update fixes it
I too have experienced issues with WiFi during my last 4 days of ownership. Perfect WiFi signal (I was sitting within feet of the router) yet no Internet connection. Cycling WiFi off and on fixed the issue. This occurred on two different networks using different hardware. Both were using WPA2-PSK authentication. No other devices on the network experienced any issues.
Go to WiFi ans hit the top right button and go to advanced setting than put yes on keep WiFi on when screen is off

That option was already enabled on my device. I never enabled it, so it must have been on by default.
Also, when this happened, my G3 still had a valid IP address
Have same problem since day 1. Cycling between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz and vice versa seems to fix for the short term.
But seems to happen on a daily basis.....!
I have the issue has well. In fact, mine will sit at obtaining IP address.
i have same isuee
i have same isuue here with my lg g3 16 gigs model
wifi sigal drops all the time i did factory seetings and did not help
plzzzz help as am start to hate my device
add static ip address to resolve the issue
I added static ip address and it was able to connect to the wifi but it will
be the same problem when you connect to another wifi at a different location.
Do not change network prefix length/DNS1/DNS2. Keep these the same.
You could use this as temporary fix at home atleast and connect to wifi.
Disconnect completely from your WiFi, switch off WiFi on the phone, turn back on and go to advanced settings, uncheck the Google auto scan thing, then connect back to your WiFi.

Still have same problem
It worked on mine. Much more stable.
I am also experiencing this and it is really annoying. Toggling WiFi off and back on always fixes it, but that is not an actual solution because the problem happens so frequently.
I have tried:
Disabling Sprint connection optimizer
'Keep WiFi on when screen is off' is enabled
'Allow WiFi scanning' is disabled
'WiFi signal weak' is disabled (set so that it does not disconnect from WiFi when signal is weak)
'Battery saving for WiFi' is disabled
Using a static IP address
Factory Reset
Forget network
I still have had no luck. Does anybody else have any suggestions? I have about a dozen devices on my network and they play nicely; this is the only device giving me trouble. I am starting to wonder if it is time to RMA?
EDIT: It doesn't seem to happen when I connect to the WiFi at my work. Hopefully flashing a newer build of DD-WRT will remedy this. I love this phone except for that one issue; unfortunately though, this issue would be pretty hard to live with....
Same thing here. Before G3 I had G2 and Flex, both had the same wifi problem. Funny thing is that some $150 Chinese almost noname generic phones never have this problem on my home wifi. It's exclusive to LG.
Same Problem here. I am having a Nexus 5 sitting next to it. No problem with the N5 but constantly interruptions with the G3. This phone is starting to annoy the hell out of me.
I have the VZW G3 rooted, have no issues with WiFi on either antenna using an Asus dual band router.
I did have issues with a dlink, but it had issues with all phones not just the g3 so I replaced it.

WiFi slow after Marshmallow update

Is anyone else having slow WiFi after the update? I did a speed test with my wife's S4 and had over 20 Mbits. But when I do the speed test on my S6 with M I barely get 1 Mbits. Is there a quick fix or is this an issue that we have to wait for an update.
WiFi still works perfectly fine for me. Have you tried resetting your connection to the WiFi?
Yes. Reset the settings on the phone and rebooted the router. Still acting slower than the phone running lollipop.
My wifi became very slow after MM - no resolution yet
I'm also having this issue. My router also has a 5g band however that works fine. But the normal wifi is very slow.

Well I removed my network from my phone and reset the router. Set back up my WiFi and now it seems to be better now. Will keep checking.
I had a network extender (slower than my wifi connection point), after MM installation, MM always connected to the slower extender. I deleted the extender definition, reset my connection point setting. Wifi performance improved close to what it was before MM.
This happened when I updated my wife's phone, I did a factory reset and started like new and fixed the issue... I didn't have this issue when I updated mine tho.
I still having issues with slow WiFi. Almost as slow as dial up sometimes.
Trying turning on bluetooth, it improves wifi speeds for some reason.

I finally gave in to doing a factory reset, that appears to have solved the slow wifi problem.

After performing I found out that the Retailmenot app was having an adverse on my wifi performance. I turned of the notifications for it and the problem went away. My son received the Marshmellow update and had bad wifi performance. Also his mobile hotspot wouldn't work. He uninstalled Retailmenot, wifi problem went away and hotspot began working.

Today I found out that if I have the Bluetooth on my WiFi crawls very slowly. If I turn off my Bluetooth my WiFi is full speed. So now I know it is the Bluetooth affecting WiFi. Any suggestion on how to fix this. I have a GearS watch and need to keep my Bluetooth on all the time.
