Guys Please tell me about bug free Custom ROM only for NOKIA XL - Nokia X

From past few days i m thinking of installing google store and google now on my Nokia XL Phone. I read lot of threads and watch many videos. But still unable to make decision. So far i have downloaded 3 tool kits 1) NokiaXMgr_v1.0.0.0 2) Ultimate tool v1.1 3) Universal Toolkit Setup. Which one i should choose? Now i have stock Rom. Please also tell me, is it safe to install custom ROM. If Yes, then which one is the best? Most of threads are for NOKIA X. That is why i am bit confused. Eagerly waiting for your response. Thanks in advance.

Use Universal toolkit to install google play it's so easy, custom roms are not completely stable but the best one is Xperia ROM

You can boot to custom recovery or install it, then wipe your current rom, then install custom rom files: "ROM+XL Patch+Camera Patch", After ROM installed use toolkit to fix Radio&APN

I think there are some security concern in universal kit. BTW i don't use antivirus. Either windows is blocking or it is buggy, i don't know. I have rooted my device using TWRP 2.7 (via Nokia X manager). But i m facing issue while backing up my Stock Rom. As i said screen is turning black. Each time i have to remove the battery.

Guys! i have successfully installed the ROM:victory: Whole process took around 45 minutesgood: However the biggest pain in ass was installing ADB drivers:crying: Somehow windows was not detecting it. That is why i decided to share my experience, so that u don't waste ur valuable time. After installing the ADB drivers, simply install the NokiaCareSuiteForStore 5.4.:good: Luckily it is available at XDA forum itself
All credit goes to @YSH ALSAGER. Awesome! man u deserve unlimited Thanks!:good:
However there are just few bugs left. Which is listed below:
1) FM is not working
2) Walkman keeps popping error "unfortunately download music info has stopped"
3) It is not detecting the storage properly. Internal as external and vice versa.
That's it, rest is working like a charm. I m really happy:laugh:

You can Fix radio by my zip fix, For walkman just delete download music info from system apps, and For MTP change it from Settings app then Storage options, press menu and change it to MTP.
Note: If you want to use this ROM in other language (it's only Indonesian and English) just Flash its language Pack by me Here

No there is not a "superuser" app
Where can I download the official 2.3.3? I can't find it
You are S-OFF but doesn't have the Superuser app yet most definitely.
To get root, you have to flash superuser zip found on Revolutionary FAQ page. Read it and it's there. Third FAQ item if my memory serves me correct.
Alternatively you can just flash a custom rom and it will have superuser out of the box.
EDIT: Here read common problems and questions. It's item number 4

Save that zip file on your SD card.
Choose Recovery on the hboot menu.
Depending on what recovery you have, look for something that says flash/install from sd card
select the file and let it do it's work
reboot

Looks like you haven't flashed a custom recovery yet...
Since you're using a desire with german language, I suspect that you speak german ;-)
Before you play around with your device, I think it's better to read and understand what you're doing. Therefore, brutzelstube.de is a great german website specially about rooting and modding the desire. Maybe you should just read the tutorials there and see what your device is capable of. If you need to ask what to do next for every step, you probably won't have much fun with your rooted desire. Especially if you want to flash a custom rom.
As it is a used device, what about the one who owned the device before? Can't you ask him what exactly he did?
You could also just install and run an app that requires root (like Titanium Backup or Rom Manager) and see what happens...

Seriously? Rom manager..... Fail
Like stankyou says, you need to flash a custom recovery and you'll need to flash superuser before you try to install any app that requires root access

Well, first of all there was the question if root-access works or not. Looks like the answer was no, but just trying it out does no harm. And since Rom Manager requires root, it should be ok for testing, just like any other root app. I didn't say he would need it.
Or he could just look in app drawer for the superuser app

[Method]WhatsApp installation on Nokia XL Successfully

My friend has Nokia XL device and he successfully installed the Whatsapp app in his device. i thought it may help some other people who is struggling to use Whatsapp in their devices.
Here are the steps he followed to install the Whatsapp:
1. First change the date to may or april i.e., change your date to before june (i suppose, it is because the update of whatsapp came on 9th june)
2. Download the old version of WhatsApp (i.e.,2.11.238) - use only nokia browser, don't use Play Store or Mobile Market...
3. Install it and Run it
4. Complete verification and complete the procedure, update the contacts
5. Chat with one or more contacts... so that you may have backup info about Whatsapp to get a Widget.
6. Now change the date to Present date and reboot(restart) the phone.
7. After rebooting the phone to present date, it says whatsapp is an obsolete version and suggest you to install latest version. click download (download using the nokia browser, NO Play store or NO mobile markets)
8. Now download the file and install manually, it will ask you to upgrade the version and click install. (don't uninstall previous whatsapp),
9. Now you have the Whatsapp with latest version and with present date...
But access the app from Fastlane or using Widget. if you open using the icon then it shows error.
Uninstall the Whatsapp+ if you already have.
Have Fun Whatsapp-ing...
If you have any doubts Please Comment...
If I helped you the HIT THANKS.

Its dangerous to modify build.prop unless you have knowledge what you are doing... Instead of doing this you can flash a custom rom. Either ways you must root and BACKUP.

[Q] Nokia xl update help and gapps.

So recently I updated my nokia (RM1030) to the laoftware update I.e 1.2.3.21 but I iam confused that shouldnt I get the MixRadio app instead of the normal radio on the latest update? Cuz I have seen it on other devices. Also I want to install the google play services so I can get playstore and stuff . Do I. Eed to root cuz I dont want to root because it can ge bricked or something like that so any suggestions?
Both MixRadio and normal radio are present in 1.2.3.21 update. and no need to root if you want to install gapps. Just use AngSanley's Nokia X Manager.

simple instruction is put the gapps in your phone memory or sd card
if you have custom recovery (lewa, miui, cwm, twrp) just install the zip file
always make a backup of your stable rom before flashing, theres nothing wrong in having mistake just make sure you have back up in your recovery or in any case have a backup of stock rom (if recovering from backup did not work) you can always flash back stock rom to your device via nx flasher

First you need the updated ADB driver for nokia x.
Here is the thread by Dom3616 :http://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-x/general/fix-updated-adb-drivers-nokia-x-v1-2-4-1-t2835827
you will find download link and the installation Procedure.
download any gapps flashable zip file for 4.1.2 to your pc( I used the one mentioned in this post-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53977207&postcount=31)
Then open nokia x manager and connect you phone to pc as usb memory.
After it detect your phone click on Install GApps. then press ok and select the GApps.zip file you downloaded.
After that it will copy the zip file to your internal memory and boot your device in TWRP temporarily.(You will not able to boot in twrp again).
In twrp click on install and navigate to your .zip file and select it. Then swipe to confirm. it will install it and then click reboot. It will ask you to root your device just click on no. Done.

I can't understand how can you lose imeis with this method.
There is no such thing like that.
Imei partition is different from system.
Maybe you tried firmware upgrade via sp flash tool.
But i used firm. Upgrade too but worked fine.

Not on all devices. It is common that messing with the system partition can cause IMEI corruption. Chained in dual sim devices. This is due to the fact that android doesn't fully support dual Sims so each oem does it differently.
But it will be same for same models.
If i am successful he should also be successful on same phone model.
But he may be trying differently. Not exactly how i wrote.

Imei corruption can be repaired easily as stock rom contains apdb, db files which are needed to repair imei.
