Contacts app crashing Xperia Z5 premium - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've been using my Sony Xperia Z5 Premium for about 5 days and now my Contacts app keeps crashing. I've tried cleaningthe cache and the data, but still doesn't work. Dial pad, contacts nor calling someone via messenger works, simply put I can not contact anyone in any other way other than through texting and Internet based apps. Help please! Haven't reset the phone yet as I'd prefer not having to...
Best regards,
Amy

That's strange...my 6583 hasn't had any type of crashes from day 1...did you freeze or disable any other Sony apps that may be tied to contacts? How about firmware updates? My Z5 Premium notified me if an update almost immediately after I started using it...it was a 300mb update and after I installed it, I did a factory reset because that's just how I prefer to use my phone...if nothing works, I suggest trying a reset.

I hadn't done anything that could have caused this, but it fixed itself after a factory reset. Thanks!

I've factory reset (pain in the patootie), rebooted, cleared cache, deleted data, everything...but my contacts STILL keep saying "Unfortunately, contacts has stopped working". I cannot select a contact, nor can I use the dialpad of the phone app. Any other solutions?

Help please

Tonight I decided to try cm7, so I flashed and the gapps, I noticed that all my apps from cm6 were automatically downloading and it was making the phone run so slow so after a while I just decided going back to my Evo elite rom, now no matter what rom I flash I can't install anything from the market! It just keeps saying unsuccessful. I tried downloading from the market website on my pc and the apps installed fine! But I CAN NOT download ANYTHING from the phone! I've tried 3 different roms now all the same result! Anyone know what's going wrong? And how to fix it?? Any help is MUCH appreciated!
OK I even tried changing sd cards thinking maybe my sd card was corrupt and no dice!! Can someone PLEASEEEE help me?? I have NO CLUE wtf is going on here I just cant download ANYTHING from the market on the phone but if i click install from the market website on my computer it downloads on my phone automatically. Im baffled!!!
You can try clearing the market cache, then force stop, then open it.
Reflash CM7 on a clean install, with the latest gapps.
Thx, tried that no go.
I'm having same problem. Happened to update CM7 today, was downloading apps, got incredibly slow, then stopped. Now apps won't install using that gmail account.
However, I tried the same ROM after a factory reset and another gmail account, and the market works. Did our accounts get blocked from Google you think?

Just remove the account, clear the cache in market and add the acvount back. If it starts downloading apps just cancel the ones you dont want

I have done a complete factory reset, and the account that won't work, never works anymore. A different gmail account will work after a factory reset, but the failing account will not download apps. A factory reset is much more than just clearing the market cache, and the reset still does not fix this account.
(Just to be complete, I did do a clear data on market and downloader before resorting to the factory reset. That did not work, so I proceeded to try the factory reset option to no avail).
Change your Gmail password and try to download apps again.

Great idea, but just tried it and that fails, too.
Aaron, see other post on this issue. My problem fixed itself, not sure if you will be as lucky.

[Q] Cannot send or receive texts/can't send e-mail

So I was using the rooted stock gingerbread rom and decided to flash CM7 to see what all the hype was about. I followed the steps outlined in the CM7 wiki, and the whole thing was a nightmare. constant FC messages and every time I tried to restore my apps via Mybackuproot I was unable to move anything to the SD card even after enabling app2sd in CM7.
I even went so far as to do a factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik and try reflashing. No dice. All I manged to do there was create a boot loop which forced me to do the whole process a second time.
I gave up and just decided to restore the nandroid backup I had made just a few days ago.
But now, I'm having issues with send and receiving items. I can receive e-mails but when I reply it's stuck in "sending"
Apparently I can send texts (sent one to a friend who said they got it) but I cannot receive them.
I updated prl and profile in the settings. Now i'm at a loss. How do I fix this??
You can rewipe everything and reflash the stock Rom that you were running before your "nightmare" journey, and see if that clears up your texting problem.
now the voices are in 3d
I went into the applications setting and cleared the data from the gmail app and from the hancent/stock text message settings.
I can now send e-mails, but I still can't receive text messages.
Before doing any of that I booted into recovery and did a factory wipe and cleared dalvik/cache again. I then reflashed my recovery.
Still not having luck with receiving messages. help!
bump?
I installed google voice and I'm now getting text messages through there, but my stock app/handcent still aren't getting anything incoming.
I cleared the cache and force closed both programs, I made sure sync was enabled. I'm a loss here

did you go into mobile network settings and make sure you didn't uncheck boxes there?

[Q] Messaging issues - Corrupt

So this started happening since last week or so. This doesn't seem to be a firmware/version issue since I've had this issue on both LJ2 and now on MA6.
Sometimes, during normal operation, my GO SMS stops sending SMS messages (it tries to send it but it never does). Once that happens, if I press back to go the inbox, it says No messages found. Now if I open the stock Samsung Messaging app, it says the same and is unable to send any messages.
When I restart the phone, everything works fine.
Any tips? Any solutions?
same with me..? im just using stock message app..
Try cache and dalvik wipe.
Try factory reset next.
If you have rooted then flash stock rom next.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Already tried dalvik cache wipe.
Factory reset too, you can say (I did a full wipe and flashed a new ROM)
And yes I'm rooted. But no one else seems to have this issue :s Why me! Something's wrong with Android's Messaging service.
You look Indian
Maybe I can recommend you to update to dmb2

i actually have the same issue, been going on for me sin dll7. And I still can't figure out what causes this.

Please HELP !!!!! I have a problem deleting a text/gmail log

I have a verizon note 4 32 GB sm-n910v 6.01 marshmallow....my problem is I sent a text and a gmail via messaging app... and normally I can delete all calls or text logs...but 1 person specifically, everytime I send them a Gmail ONLY via messaging app I cannot delete the log..tried deleting contact ,tried in safe mode tried after clearing cache via hard buttons. ..etc...with no luck..it says deleted but still shows up under phone app under recent, all calls and messages ..last time I had to do a factory reset. ..any thoughts on how to remove without a reset ..I would greatly appreciate it..... thank you and happy holidays ...

All SMS apps crashing

Hello! Yesterday I decided to update my OP3 to the latest version, and as usual, I rooted it and restored with titanium backup. Everything went as usual, but today I decided to send a SMS and the stock app kept crashing, so I tried to use messenger (from Facebook) it crashed when I enabled SMS.
Later, I searched about this and found that i needed to clean data and cache, but when I checked on the application section I had none, the cache and data were empty.
I've already tried to use 3rd party apps to send messages, but all crashed the same way as the stock.
How can I fix this? I don't want to factory reset again my phone, is a pain to restore the data.

Thats been an issue with the OTA updates. Seems not to work right (never advised anyone to do ota as a single millisecond of data loss causes issues)
You may have to end up Factory resetting. Also TIBU messes up google messaging service so you will end up with apps not giving notifications properly.

People have said that reinstalling the apps without wiping the data works. I just set everything up again. But then I like most developers use less then 10 apps on our devices other then the stock apps.

Ok. I'll try a factory reset and reinstaliing the apps without TiBu. I'll get back to you when I finish this.
It worked, thanks!
