[Project Fi] CyanogenMod 13 Nightlies - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

CM13 has started rolling out Nightlies to the N5x! Woo!
Located Here
Well.... Almost Woo!
I can't figure out for the life of me how to get Fi services to work with CM. Past iterations of CM allowed Fi to work on the Nexus 6 without any modification... Here, I'm lucky if I can get Sprint to start up.
Currently, I'm on PureNexus >XDA Thread Here<. The ROM is great, and they provide a download that has a Google Dialer for Fi Support zipped up and ready to flash. Works flawlessly.
I guess I'm a bit of a noob, but I'm having a hard time getting the Dialer to work on CM13. Actually it generates countless, relentless Android.com process FC, making the phone unusable.
Does anyone know of a workaround, or someway to get full Fi Service working on CM13?

Just flash official cyanogenmod and OpenGapps and then make sure you give the Fi app access to all app permissions in settings.
Edit, in case what I'm saying isn't clear, don't try flashing the FiFix thing from PureNexus on Cyanogenmod, because it's not meant for this ROM. Cyanogenmod works just fine with Fi as long as you go into Settings>Apps>Project Fi>Permissions and grant it all permissions.

I will be trying that today. Slow day at work and all ^_^ thanks for the tip!

Just looking for confirmation here- you're saying it works fully, including network switching? There were early reports of only sprint service working on cm13, not T-Mobile.

Yep, I'm on T-Mobile right now and haven't had issues switching between the 2 over this first day I've used it. I do get error dialogs if I switch networks manually using Fi Spy, but the phone still switches over.

[ROM] TEST! infinity2 Nexus S 4G Early Dev stage (19/6/11)

I need testers for an early build of infinity2 for the Nexus S 4G it is highly likely it WILL NOT, and is currently basically a stock AOSP rom with Netarchy and SU, busybox etc.
I need feedback on whether this boots, installs on your Nexus S. I do not expect it to, and if it does, there will probably be something missing. Please help me with this, as I really need testers otherwise I can't release this myself.
Download here: http://build.jonathongrigg.com/infinity_crespo4g-ota-eng.jonathongrigg.zip
Make a backup before flashing, this is Alpha level stuff!

Eventually this will become the official infinity thread for the Nexus S 4G as well, so please keep it clean

Thankyou, haven't applied CDMA stuff yet (Wimax too)
Edit: building with Wimax apk and settings, still needs other stuff for correct working but I want to see if this caused it. Also allows download of any file type (thanks to eddieringle).
New download up at the same URL, please download again
Making a backup now, will install and report back as soon as backup is finished.
Update: Boots, no service and get an error when trying to turn on wifi.
Anything else you want tested before I go back?

Having the same issue as above. Turning on wifi causes a freeze. I also don't have any service (sprint).
Once wifi works I can test some more.

Yep, I am right for testers at the moment, I haven't changed anything and these issues need to be sorted out first.
I do have some help now though from mikeyinid so hopefully these can be sorted relatively quickly!

Awesome to see another rom, love options
deck'd out Nexus S 4G
Keep the thread updated and I will flash it whenever you need a tester. You could even send me a PM to let me know you have a new compile that way you are not waiting around for someone to test. If I'm at work I will test as soon as I get home(about 3PM est USA time).
Please test this new version, should have a working 4g vendor (thanks mikeyinid) also, LWP and default wallpapers should be included as well.
Link is still the same, or http://build.jonathongrigg.com/infinity_crespo4g-ota-eng.jonathongrigg.zip for those who want it here instead

Booted for me, connected to Sprint, connected to Google Servers, connected to wifi. No 4G in my city yet so I can't test that but everything else seems to be working. Gmail, Market and other Gapps are working. What are your plans with this? Like I have said I will continue to test when needed. Right now it seems like stock Rom rooted. I do like your boot screen animation though.
I downloaded to my phone, may have been bad.

Ditto - good to see something else out there, although I'm perfectly happy with mikey's ROM right now
But no issues on boot or connections for me.
Weird I just downloaded to my phone again and it still won't boot. A tree took out my cable last night so won't have real internet til later on.
But, I'm glad everything seems to be in working order. Did you guys check to see if 4g or sprint settings fc?

[DATA][FIX] Process com.android.phone FC Fix

Hey guys. I noticed a lot of people, including myself, have been getting the dreaded process com.android.phone force close message upon booting up new ROMs.
This only happens when trying to connect to data. Turn it off, and the force closes stop. Well, I believe I've found a workaround using an APN file I've found floating around on the Carbon ROM thread!
Upon booting, just keep clicking the OK message to skip past the FC errors and the ROM setup process, and then disable your data as soon as you can. Connect to wifi, go to the Play store and install your favorite root browser. Download the linked APN file at the bottom of this post to your phone, and open up your root browser. Copy the APN file you downloaded, then go to system/etc, delete the stock APN file and replace it with the new one. Set permissions to rw-r-r, reboot into recovery, and do a factory data reset. Boot back into ROM and voila, you should be good!
Note that this may or may not fix your data problems, as every phone is different and some of you are on different carriers. This method has been working for me ever since I started doing it a couple of days ago, and almost every new ROM I've installed recently have given me the FC error. That is no more with this new APN, and I even get a better data connection than before. Hope this helps you all!
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?8s937bc91ysgpqe
*****EDIT*****
This method has also fixed my data problems on the new KitKat ROMs as well. Before, I wouldn't even get data on the new KK ROMs, and if I did, 3G would go away and never come back when switching between wifi and data. Replaced the APN, and my data came back stable, even when switching to wifi.

Okay, I've been seeing this complaint around the forums recently, so I'll say this.
For as long as I've ever owned a smartphone, 3G/4G ALWAYS turned off for me whenever I was in a phone call, but I could still browse the internet and stuff. Maybe now things are different with this phone/these ROMs, and data is actually blocked when in a call, I don't know. It's not an issue to me, though, because I really don't use data while in a call. So hopefully this issue can get cracked down further for you guys who do.

I can confirm that no matter what ROM I've been on, when I made or received a call, my 4G/3G symbol would disappear, but if I was on 4G I could still access the internet. Not with 3G of course. I'll need to get to a 4G area and test this.

For CM10.2 it works fine. For stock it is fine it just seems to be this KitKat that is a GSM build that is being worked over a bit for CDMA. That is where the problem lies.

I wonder if this has to do with our builds coming from the nexus 5, since it is a tri-band LTE device. It does not have the capability to be connected to LTE and CDMA at the same time. Are there any radio files we are grabbing from the nexus 5 that might be causing this behavior to occur?
Check out this article, it talks about the inability of the tri band devices to be connected to LTE while using voice/text:

This did not work for me on the AOSP 4.4 ROM either. I have tried several times and still get force closes. I am running fine on CM10.2 though.
Does this fix the issue with switching between 4G to 3G? While on the Omni rom, if I'm connected to 4G and it loses signal, it doesn't connect to 3G. Or, if I want to turn of 4G and only use 3G, it never connects.
For some reason, when I put it, the system just disregards it. It says successfully deleted and pasted too. When I delete the old one and paste the new one it says "Do you want to overwrite?" even though the old one is gone. Anybody got anything?

The link takes you to the OP but the ROM is in a comment on the second page. Also the dev states that this is an alpha, should we be linking to it here?
Also he says it's for geehrc. That's not gee. Gee is geehrc and geespr. Geehrc is strictly international. It might work on the ls970 but probably not. I'm going to try and mess with it anyway. But just realize what you are getting into before messing around. Might erase efs. If you're smart you have a backup everywhere.
I just want people to be aware of development going on in the international forums. See also discussion at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2807660, people are running this on LS970 though I myself have not yet flashed it
I don't want to link to that specific post because that is only release 2, he is already up to release 9. Obviously proceed with caution.
It's actually working. I'm using it right now on sprint to reply. It took a long time to boot. And once it does when you get past all the attempted update force closes you have to change mobile networks to 3g or it will APPEAR as though your efs is gone. Once you change to 3g (or possibly LTE, I don't know because I have no access) it will connect to sprint. I made a call but haven't tried data or texts yet. I just wanted to post results. It runs smooth and looks great.
EDIT:
Seems no matter what I tried, data would not connect. It also would not "stay" on 3G, it kept reverting to global. It did however keep my settings.
Keep in mind that was release 2. I did not realize when I downloaded it that there was more releases but I decided to give it a shot anyway instead of jumping to the newest right away (since I already downloaded 400+MB).
this is exciting, we already nearly have android L...just another testament to how awesome our community is

This one is slightly different than any other stock ROM I have tried to make universal. They basically ported a stock rom to GEE. Everything is working, wifi, calls, texts. The only thing I can't figure out is 3G. If you have 4G it's worth testing. I have absolutely no way to check 4G. I know 3G won't connect and upon fresh boot you have to connect to some sort of network and there are an amazing amount of FC's for update service. I think it's because I can't connect to something. I am at work now and have no access to wifi to even get past the setup, so I cannot get to settings and change mobile networks to 3G. There is no skip option. You have to connect to something, if you choose skip for mobile network then you have to connect to wifi or it will not pass setup.
I strongly suggest everyone give it a shot since there is nothing special like the KK that you need to do. I was even able to flash it on MultiRom. It will flash from any recovery and does not wipe any partitions. The kernel it uses works (but might have something to do with the lack of network). I am not sure. It could be anything until it is narrowed down.
@engine95 There is even options to update profile and PRL, though they don't work right now (for me).
Have you tried messing with APNs to fix data? I am on stock rooted ZVC, and even so I had trouble with MMS over LTE/eHRPD until I manually added an APN. Plus it breaks again if I update profile.
@dopy25 that's interesting. There's an international 975 Rom I was messing with where mms works but nothing else. Lucky has everything but mms.
I picked up the G3 yesterday but I'm still looking at getting KK working for the gee.
I think the apns might work from the G3 or maybe even the KK G2. No root for the Sprint G3 yet so I can't pull them. The G3 has GSM built with it. Lets hope it'll work with KK and L.

I have not, but my next step is to use an apn config file that I have and try it again. The one I have never fails me. (I am at work and on borrowed time )
I did compare them and the only difference is that the one that comes with the rom has more lines and the information that is extra is some cdma Sprint lines and some lines for Cricket. I figured those would be more updated but I can see how they would get in the way.
EDIT: the APN file I had caused the same issues. I am going to try to get setup using wifi somewhere and look at the mobile settings on the releas 10 and find out if anything has changed. I hope the dev that made this port doesn't get turned off he's doing some great work.

G3 is GSM and CDMA capable? Is that one of the new things Sprint has going on? Someone at my work told me their new S5 (I think) has a sim card. I didn't believe him but hey if that's more than one person now I guess there's more to it.
The problem I have is that I get no mobile data network, so i do not know if MMS works or not. Texts, calls, and wifi work. I should have tried sending MMS last night when I was home and on wifi. Would the APNs be different? As in an update in network settings or something? I can DL a G2 rom and pull the apn file from it, or ask for it in one of their threads if you think it would make it any different. The one I have is from an optimus G rom and has always worked for 3/4G.
I have not had a chance to mess with lucky or any of the fixes you posted.

This gets me 3G through the Airave, have to wait till tomorrow to test LTE.
Each time you switch from WiFi to mobile data, you get a flurry of update FC's. If it also does that when switching towers it will probably not be usable for me at work.
Right now my home button has stopped working, and the swipe to pull down settings is also stuck somehow. Anyone seen this or have ideas how to fix?

The APN zip gets data working including LTE. My issues with the buttons and settings pulldown were fixed on a full wipe and reflash. Wiping system cache and dalvik only and reflashing was not enough. Looking good.

Are you able to get data at boot, or do you have to get through setup using wifi? I can't seem to get data at all, but since I am at work I have no access to wifi to get to the settings to change anything. It won't let me past data setup of some sort. No skip.
I just now wiped EVERYTHING (except internal sd) 3 times then installed the ROM, then flashed the sprint.zip, then wiped data, cache, dalvik. And it booted ok, but I still have no data at all. I press skip and it forces me to choose a wifi network. I even tried connecting to one that I knew needed an extra login just to pass the stupid setup and I still cannot.
YUM!
Looks so nice clean I'll be looking forward to flashing it all day at school tomorrow

Alot of new phones will be gsm/cdma. Sprint and tmobile are in works of merging companies and what better then to have a phone that runs on both?

Hello fellow XDAers. This is the first time I have compiled any android build. I really only compiled it for myself because I did not see any CM12 for the Nexus 9 LTE. But I thought I would share it with you people. This thread is not going to be one of those fancy, decked out looking posts. To be straight to the point, I just compiled the Nexus 9 LTE code from github. I do not take ANY credit for any of the source, all though I will take credit for compiling it for you and bringing to you a fully functioning cm12 build for the nexus 9 LTE. Remember, as always, I am not responsible for any damage done to your device from using any of these files(Blah Blah). And now to the good part!
WARNING
If you flash this zip file and directly boot afterwards, it WILL encrypt your device if its not already encrypted. To prevent this, I have attached a non-encrypting boot.img that you need to fastboot flash directly after installing this zip file.

Credit to the CM team as always for providing a great OS for our awesome tablets and phones.

EDIT: As of atleast the 3-08 nightly for flounder, the OFFICIAL CM nightlies have LTE support built in. I do not know if this is an accident or what, but you no longer need to download LTE or WIFI specific ROMS. The roms contained at http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=flounder do in fact work with LTE/WIFI Nexus 9.
Sounds good! Have you thoroughly tested on your N9 LTE?
Is GPS working? This was always the problem with other ROMs I tried for the LTE
And what about charging and battery charge display? Other ROMs would charge slow, show 60% although fully charged and this kind of stuff.
A 100% working CM would be nice
Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. Right now it appears that everything is working ok. But, like you said, it seems LTE goes in and out at random times. I am working on testing out everything and hoping other people may find out whats still buggy too. All though, I am not a dev so I probably would not be able to fix it =[. But i will post more information as it is discovered.
I'm all in for testing; very surprised cm 12 wasn't ready for this already when mine arrived last week. ?
Nice, thanks and ready for testing.
0309 flashed and booted just fine. Within a few minutes the 0310 update was available, same result. Except this time mobile data was available in the OS.
Will keep at it testing, great job ty!!!

Actually, if you updated to the 3-10 nightly, thats an official CM build. Which I have discovered LTE does in fact work in the nexus 9 build. And the build I posted on here (3-09) LTE worked for me, but it took a couple of reboots. Anyway, thank you for trying out my build!

I did not find any APN (etc) related settings in the 0309 build. So a few reboots later you were able to connect to your carrier?

To be quite honest Im not sure whats going on with my nexus 9. It seems no matter what rom Im running, sometimes LTE works and sometimes it doesnt. But with mine, yes, I am able to connect to data services. It works upon boot, I dont have to do anything extra. Except the first time it booted, it took about 2 reboots for LTE to kick in. So far so good for me. Im on T-Mobile US, im not sure if that matters though. Anyway, good luck
Is there a setting somewhere that enables LTE?

I dont know what the heck is going on, but it seems you need to reboot a couple of times and when your tab boots up, dont touch it for about 20 seconds and then see if its working.

When I boot up my tablet, if I let it sit there until the screen turns off, it works. If i dont wait, it does not work. Its got something to do with airplane mode being enabled and I have no idea why this is happening.

Goto the settings and search for "Data" and goto the Data Connection and toggle off/on data connection a couple of times. It should work.

Using it myself. Very stable. Very fast. Really clean.
/edit
My wife is using it now too as a DD.
No issues. Best rom for the note 2 by far!

How did you get data to work? When I performed a clean install, I was not able to get any type of signal.
so data not working on my note 2 sprint bro can you tell me who ? thanks !
I flashed MVNOSlayer_R4.zip after rom and gapps to get data working.
Update: Worked for Ringplus (now defucnt). Did not work for Ting no matter what I tried. Had to drop to stock on Ting.
What changes were made between what Samsung offers and what this offers? Could I still use the S Pen apps? Do paid apps from Google Play work properly? What about using F-Droid for apps?
Update: I figured out what to do a day or so after I installed. I get dropped SMS functions after updates, and seeing if MVNOSlayer_R4.zip will solve that. If it doesn't, and others have that issue, just restart with the WiFi off, and it should work.
Just an update, if you do this, do not run MVNOSlayer_R4.zip, it ruined my LTE and MMS functionality, and I've been trying to find the right APN to get both to work again.
How do you get it to install? I know how to install a custom rom but this will not install. When ever I tried (tried many times too) it just gives me an error and will not install. If it's useful my phone is a Sprint Galaxy Note 2 (SPH-L900).
Can i get magisk to work on this?
Help with Mokee SPH-L900 (I can not make calls)
Hello
I'm Victor from Mexico (sorry for my translated English), I have the Samsung Note 2 SPH-L900 recently installed MK60.1-l900-170418-HISTORY and I do not get calls... If I have signal, I make calls, data in H+, sent and received sms.
I appreciate any help like resolving to receive calls.
