Confirmed working AT&T LTE and Micro cell on Droid Turbo 2 - Droid Turbo 2 General

Took a Sim card from a new AT&T Note 5 manually set to gsm/LTE mode, manually set up APN. Not only did LTE work perfectly it also instantly connected to my micro cell.

att and tmobile should work just fine, just like droid turbo and droid maxx. but they will be tied to verizon software.

Right. It you want AT&T and T-mobile, the better choice would be the Moto X Force -- the OTHER Kinzie.
You can unlock the bootloader, root, etc.

[Q] HELP! Can I switch the AT&T S3 to Verizon?

I have Verizon, a Motorola Razr (Not MAXX) and it is crapping out on me, running slow, not sending picture messages etc.
My boyfriend has a trading post type store and he bought a brand new Galaxy S3 but it's through AT&T. When I put my SIM card in the S3 it asked for a SIM Pin for unlocking.
I have experience rooting a Nook Tablet so with some directions I'll probably be able to do it, I just don't know where to even start. Do I just unlock the phone or is there a way to switch it over?
Thanks!!
Ashley
It seems like you just need an unlock code to use it with your old SIM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962453
Try taking a look at this thread and see if you can get an unlock code from AT&T.

So I called AT&T and they gave me the unlock code. I used it and it said unlocking the mobile network was successful. I tried to make a call and it said that only emergency calls were available. I restarted the phone and when making a call it said no mobile network can be found.
Ohhh you are putting a Verizon sim card in it? I don't think that will work since Verizon's network and lte use different technologies than at&t and the sim card is encoded to use the respective technology :X

Yea I have a Verizon SIM card. On my verizon RAZR I have the option to switch betwee CDMA/LTE, Global, and GSM. I know AT&T run off GSM but if my Razr has the option to switch does the S3??

That would mean you can insert a gsm sim card into the RAZR maxx because it is a world phone. However, the at&t s3 does not support CDMA, which is the network technology that Verizon uses. That's probably why you are getting no mobile network when inserting your Verizon SIM card in the AT&T s3.

The gsm sim that comes in Verizon global phones is there so when you travel out of the country you can use a cdma phone in countries that have a primary backbone that is gsm. In the us your phone uses Verizon's cdma network. If it does not see that network it will then look to the sim card to see if global gsm networks are detected.
To my knowledge this is going to be a no-go. If you have not done so, clean up your sd card, toss a factory data reset at your razor. These android phones are pretty tough.

Unfortunately, can't be done as Verizon uses CDMA and ATT uses GSM. Means radios are completely different.

As stated above, Verizon and att use two entirely different networks. The radio hardware is different. Unless the droid dna is a gsm phone that should not be possible.

That phone is also GSM capable. At that point it's all a matter of the APN settings. It can not be done with the S3 on any carrier (swapping from CDMA to GSM)

I think you can get the Verizon S3 to work on AT&T (calls/text/edge data). I know you can do that on T-Mobile. But you won't be able to get the AT&T S3 to work on Verizon for two reasons;
1) The radio would need to be hacked to enable the CDMA radio, and the information needed to hack the radio is not available. The US variants all received the same radio chip, just some of the frequencies are turned off. For instance, the AT&T S3 wasn't able to get the t-mobile AWS band working until the guy working for t-mobile released some radio files. The AT&T/T-Mo S3s have the CDMA radio, but it's not enabled
2) Verizon won't allow the phone on the network, as the IMEI is not registered on their network. This is probably the most important reason. You would need to spoof the IMEI from another verizon phone, which is not something that can be discussed here.
You are better off switching with someone who has a Verizon S3, that wants an AT&T S3.

It will work with T-Mobile because it's a GSM network. The radio can't be hacked. It's a limitation of the hardware itself. It's 2 completely different pieces of hardware.
The sim card on Verizon phones is ONLY used to access Verizon's LTE, without that simcard you'd have regular 4G only on a Verizon phone. That sim card/or phones acts in no way possible as GSM accessible.
So no it will NEVER work regardless of what you do.
And don't fall for ads on the internet about any Verizon,Sprint, or any CDMA phone to work on GSM networks.

This is not entirely true for all Verizon phones. The DNA, S4, Note 2, LG G2 (among others) are sim-unlocked out of the box, and will work with AT&T/T-Mobile (the note 2 requires some hacking in order to add the APN settings). Also, as I recall, if I took the sim card out of my GNex and DNA, I did not have service. It would only allow for emergency calls. No talk/text/2G/3G.
For the Galaxy Nexus, the phone is 100% guaranteed to not work on any GSM network.

Read the first sentence
"Only to get Verizon's LTE"
Unlocked phones work "globally"
Which means you'd get Voice and EDGE/3G at the most from other GSM networks, given you've provided the correct APNs. Locked phones, which carry that sim card for Verizon's LTE ONLY. Either way only a few phones will work. The rest are useless.

No. They use the same hardware. Msm8960. It should support GSM CDMA WCDMA LTE and Td-scdma. Almost all the network. It's mostly because of the lock of the radio/nv.
Remember, the op is asking if he can use an at&t galaxy s3 on Verizon. It's not going to work.
IT WORKS

i can verify that i an running AT&T straight talk service on my sch-i535 (Verizon Galaxy s3)
I have had success using a Verizon sg3 mother board on att's network although I was only able to get 2g. What I did was rooted phone, ran region unlock app, next I let the phone sit for a day, then a did a factory reset from the phones menu not custom recovery. Then when going through the set up wizard it prompted me to insert sim card then it said it was not an approved sim and gave options to continue or finish, selected finish, said complete and about 3-5 mins after booting up I got signal bars and phone was working. Although the hardware used are different these are dual band phones.

Verizon G4 to ATT without modding?

I have a unmodded Verizon LG G4 with Marshmallow 6.0. What would happen if I just took the sim card out of my ATT Moto X and put it in the G4?
Would I get anything close to LTE speeds? What wouldn't work?
If I rooted the V-G4, what would that help to do? It it necessary?
thx.
Well the phone is unlocked for GSM, so you should be able to use it on ATT. Just pop the sim and see.
In future, just check this website: www.willmyphonework.net
It works after inputting the ATT codes, but gets the "H" band instead of LTE.

Unlocked Moto Z Play not compatible with Straight Talk? Why?

Before purchasing my Moto Z Play I searched google to see if anyone has been able to run Straight Talk on it. I found people who have confirmed that they are running straight talk with no issues other the VOLTE not working. I don't even know what that is so I likely won't miss that.
Fast forward a week or so. My wife and I both bought UNLOCKED Moto Z Play phones from Bestbuy and they delivered yesterday. I bought a Straight Talk BYOP sim card kit. I started activation on Straight Talk's website and followed the instructions to a T and the following message was displayed.
"Unfortunately, your device will not work with our Bring-Your-Own-Device Program.
The good news is that Straight Talk has all the best devices from all the brands you love. Find the best one for you online or at Wal-Mart."
So how are other people getting this combination to work together? I chatted with a straight talk rep who said it's because the phone is not unlocked.
I took a trip to the local Verizon store and they said "yes it is locked and can't be unlocked" and that "no Verizon phone can ever be unlocked". BS I know.
So what do I do next?
Straight Talk can be either CDMA or GSM. A Verizon phone is CDMA but can do either (no LTE on GSM I think), but a GSM phone won't work on CDMA. If you bought an unlocked Moto Z Play, that will probably be a GSM phone, so make sure you have a Straight Talk GSM activation kit and not a CDMA one.

The kit that I bought comes with both nano CDMA and nano GSM, plus adapters for different sizes.
There's one compatible with AT&T
one with T-Mobile
and one with "used Verizon LTE phone"
I used the sim for Verizon because I thought I had to with this phone. Do I not?

I got the first one that you said works with a GSM sim. So i should use the ATT sim and not the verizon one. Explains a lot. lol
Better ask in a Moto Z Play subforum.
I fixed this. I just had to use the ATT sim card in the kit and then activate it.

Will it work fully on att Tmobile and Sprint???

Just wondering if it works on all carriers or should I wait for the unlocked version ? Thanks.

It is unlocked. After swapping Sims the only change you got to make is change preffered network mode from LTE/CDMA to LTE/GSM oh and go to APN and choose your new sim card apn. And thats it. Ive tried all carriers on my Verizon S8+ with no problems

What probably will not work on any carrier phone other than TMobile will be WiFi calling when using TM SIM.
Hey! I need to know if I buy a s8+ in Verizon, I will can use in Chile with my local carrier? I can read that you don't have problems changing the carrier in USA, will be the same if I use the phone with a Chilean Sim? Thanks!
I have a Verizon S8+ on AT&T unlimited service and it works perfectly. So you'll be good for Tmo as well. I have no clue about Sprint tho.
I have a Verizon S8+ on att and it works great. Does anyone know if I get HD Voice with this combination ?
Verizon unlocked S8 plus on T-Mobile working flawlessly for me
Verizon unlocked and works very well in France on the Orange network.
When I got my VZW S8+ I popped in my tmo sim first thing. It worked flawlessly out of the box. I didnt even have to add any APN settings as all of the tmo settings were built in. Awesome job sammy!
What about video call ect I'm having issues getting that **** to work is u pres *#77467# it says false on all the **** why won't the ims register that controls all that
I have an issue with s8+ using AT&T sim. The issue is that the phone shows a plus sign in front of my all incoming calls treating them as international calls. Does anyone know the solution?
The phones are completely unlocked, what you need to do is look up the VPN settings that T-mobile, or at&t use for their phones and set them accordingly. Though some functions might not work with non-Verizon carriers through changing these functions. (messages, video calling, etc..)
Thank you all. I bought the s8+ from Verizon out right because I wasnt sure if I was going to stick with them. And it looks like I am moving to t-Mobile this month, I was going to look into flashing the firmware, but I was worried since I used Samsung pay like crazy. So I am fine with just disabling the verizon apps and going from there.
Anyone know if the phone will still get updates if I swap in a T-Mobile SIM, or a Verizon-compatible one from Straight Talk while still on the VZW firmware?

Fully work - no. Things like HD calling and wifi calling wont work without t-mobile software.
