Galaxy S6 Sprint: Change From CDMA to GSM? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

S6 Sprint CDMA to GSM
My brother handed me a Sprint S6 that he paid off and said was unlocked by Sprint OTA. He wants to use it with Consumer Cellular or Straightalk GSM service. He also has the unlock code provided by Sprint. Since this is currently on a CDMA network, can it be modified by flashing another rom, to GSM. I know the phone is capable of using both network types but realistically can it be done. If so how ??
Thanks in advance for your expertise

Verizon XV6900 can go with other providers?

Hello guys I'm new here!
A friends gave to me a Verizion VX6900, but I'm with AT&T, I can make it run with At&T or I can't?
It's work only with Verizion?
There are other providers that also can run it?
Thanks!
It can not work with AT&T.
Ok, and do you know if it can work with Sprint, T-Mobile, Cricket, Virgin...
Thanks.
The xv6900 is a Verizon CDMA phone and can only be used with a CDMA service provider (not a GSM service provider). You could use Google to see which service providers offer CDMA and which offer GSM, none offer both.
To use it on Verizon would only take a call to them to set up a plan. To use it on another CDMA service provider would take a lot of research on this forum. This forum calls that phone the Vogue because that's the name given it by the manufacturer (HTC).
Ok! Wonderful Thanks a lot for your help!

[MetroPCS] Where does it belong?

You guys split SGS3 forums into AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, but leave out all other carriers. So where exactly does MetroPCS belong??
T-Mobile bought and owns MetroPCS. However, T-Mobile uses GSM while MetroPCS uses CDMA. Their SGS3 variants are not compatible.
When MetroPCS users root or flash their SGS3 phones, they usually use the files/packages for Verizon.
Specs-wise, Sprint's SGS3 variant and CDMA are closest to MetroPCS. But for some reason I've never seen anyone uses a package for Sprint on MetroPCS phones.
So should I post in the T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint forums if I have a question about rooting??
FYI, T-Mobile has NOT bought and does NOT own MetroPCS.
They are in the process (going to take a while) of doing a reverse merger, where the smaller company merges with the bigger company.
I also believe some of the MetroPCS share holders are going to veto the reverse merger. As of now about 10% of them are figthing it possibly with more to come.
There are a few other things i could correct about the GSM (wcdma transitioning into LTE) and CDMA (LTE to LTE advanced) that ill leave alone. LOL
For now if you have a question about rooting id suggest matching closest to what your devices is. You pretty much answered your own question when you said metro users use the verizon packages.. So if it were me id post on the verizon side and hope i get some help.
we do not use the verizon packages. the SCH-R530 is its own device and we share with the cricket and us cellular variants

[Q] GNex usage on other carriers?

Hey everyone, sorry in advance if this was already asked. I did a search and didn't find anything. I'm also sorry if this is the wrong forum.
I have a Galaxy Nexus from Verizon and am absolutely beyond done with them and contact services in general. Can my Verizon GNex work on another carrier? Which carriers will it work on? I know T-Mobile and other GSM carriers are out buy my knowledge of CDMA and if it's a single standard like GSM or if there are different flavors of CDMA is lacking.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated
Any CDMA should do the work, but to get it working it's different to just SIM-unlock your device like in GSM devices, If you're in the US, I believe Verizon and Sprint are the only CDMA compatible carriers.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 LTE SPH-L520 question

Ok so I was trying to unlock this samsung s 4 mini lte SPH-L520 but it seems like it's the only model of S 4 mini that i can't find an unlock code for, is this phone un-unlockable? and what is the difference between the SPH-L520 and all the other samsun s 4 mini?
Well one rather big difference of the Sprint S4 mini (SPH-L520) versus the international models (GT-I919X) is that it uses CDMA networks rather than GSM. I am not sure if you can use it on GSM networks with a sim card. I do, however, know that the Verizon version (SCH-I435) which is also CDMA can be unlocked and used on GSM networks. I used the app RegionLock Away from the play store (and here on xda) to unlock and it worked with an AT&T sim card.
Sent from my SCH-I435 using xda app-developers app
I hope your help

sprint sph-l520 NOT a worldphone
I talked with the Sprint folks.
The Sprint variant has a sim tray that is just for the data sim (UICC card) not a GSM sim. And it is NOT a worldphone.
So even if you put a GSM sim in it, the radio is not looking for GSM towers (only CDMA).
But the Verizon version IS a world phone, which is why "wiisixtyfour" was able to unlock his.
That being said, since Samsung has made several versions that do have this capability, it seems possible that if someone modifies these things it could work:
-Modified sprint radio to receive GSM radio frequencies/signals (maybe copying the Verizon one?)
-Modified PRL to look for GSM towers
-Modified SIM tray communication to recognize not just DATA sims but GSM sims as well
I have no idea how to do any of these. But would love it if someone a lot smarter than me can take a stab at it. :cyclops:

Please do
SPH-L520 can run on GSM carrier!
Yes, this is what Sprint told me last summer. But it's incorrect. I have a Sprint S4 mini that works on both Sprint and a TMobile MVNO. Voice, text, data (in refarmed area). Unlocking GSM can be done!

avgtuhm, that's only true if you can explain how it was done and it can be replicated.
What does #0111*NETWORKCODE accomplish?
First off, my apologies if I am in error about GSM functioning on my phone.
I will explain what I've done with my Sprint S4 mini and maybe you/someone can tell what is happening. But this is why I thought GSM was/is working on my phone, until supermaxkato questioned this. (Note: I am not a developer.)
My S4 mini is active with Sprint. If I put a GSM SIM in it, of course it does nothing. Try to make a phone call and I get an automated message that it cannot be completed. But after doing the following, I can make calls, send texts, use mobile data.
I powered on with GSM SIM in phone. Entered #0111*NETWORKCODE for my phone in the dialer and hit call button. After this voice, text, data work. However, phone shows "Invalid SIM" in the notifications and the calls and texts come from my Sprint phone vs. the number associated with my GSM SIM. (I didn't realize this until testing last night.)
So did the code just make it so the SIM tray ignores the GSM SIM and functions on Sprint network? (again.. before entering the codes, no calling/texting/data worked with GSM SIM in the phone)
Same results on 2 activated Galaxy phones. Unsuccessful on non-activated S4 Mini.
I am not tech savvy but if anyone wants me to check something on my phone, I will try to get you the information. (I do not have a rooted/modified phone.)
Again, sorry for my mistaken report of success. In retrospect, I should have known it couldn't be that easy.
(Earlier this year, I WAS told by a developer in Colorado that there has been limited success with Sprint S4 minis being unlocked for GSM both internationally and domestic. And a Sprint rep recently told me that this phone can be unlocked internationally for GSM, although I see that it is not on their list of unlockable phones.)

Will AT&T work on sprint galaxy s6...

Title says it all... I was wondering if its possible to get it to work
Unfortunately, no, it will not. AT&T is a GSM based carrier and Sprint is a CDMA carrier. The two technologies are not compatiable at all.
Source: Recently asked the people at the AT&T store this very question.
Yes AT&T will work up to HSDPA on the sprint galaxy s6 as only the LTE bands are different, do a search for unlocking sprint Galaxy S6 by I one or give me a DM.
Yes it does work if its unlocked domestically
