Hi I have a android head unit which MCU version is MTCB-KD-v2.68 Jul 21 2015 13:51:56.

The latest version I found here. Within the folder "All dmcu for PX3, PX5, Intel Sofia3g" you can find a KLD folder. I just noticed it contains KLD MTCE 2.78 too. I personally only successfully tried 2.65d and 2.73 recently.
Can the "MTCE" MCUs be used with any MTCD firmware?

Yes, MTCD and MTCE is the same thing; it's just a software upgrade. Any MTCD device can be upgraded to MTCE MCU version.

Is there any noticeable difference? There must be something to justify the change of name from MTCD to MTCE.

No.
Manufacturers never released any changelogs for MCU firmware. So we don't know what the changes are. Though there is a thread targeting to analyze the MCU here.
As of now the only thing we know that starting somewehre with 2.6x versions the MCU was renamed from MTCD to MTCE with no known hardware modification and as of our current knowledge every MTCDe unit is compatible to MTCE firmware. So it looks like they probably really just changed the name for no good reason.
I can confirm 2.78 works perfectly. I didn't even lose any MCU settings and I didn't have the CFG file on the SD Card.

Hi. I installed the 2.78 too, but i have no clear differences with 2.73 . There is a changelog for this mcu or for the old mcu update? If yes you know where i can find it?
thanks
Hi. I have a MTCE_WWW_V2.78_1 MCU which appears to be KLD. It's running android 8.0. I really am looking forward to find a way to root my device (formerly - even if uninteresting but for information - sold as a Eonon GA2170). I saw in the link you posted, SkyBeam2048, that there was inside "Rockchip PX5 Oreo 8.0" folder a rar file named UpdateROOT.rar. After quick search, I found out a 4pda.ru thread mentionning that this root method was based on GS 20180118 firmware (oreo 8.0, obviously). Do you think I could use it on my own device to gain root access ?

Latest MCU update for MTCE_XRC

Hello,
I have been reading a lot of posts in the forum and it's all quite confusing.
I bought a new box and I'm experiencing the issue with bt/wifi https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/mtcd-android-head-units-general/mtce-xrc-v2-941-px5-wifi-bluetooth-wake-t3871755
This is my current box details
MCU = MTCE_XRC_V2.93_2 Aug 23 2018
Build = px5-userdebug 8.0.0 OPR5.170623.007 eng.hct.20180919.161540 test-keys
Kernel = 4.4.93+ [email protected] #3236 Jul 5 2018
Questions are:
-Is there an update available for my MCU?
-I saw an user that posted an update from Xtrons (MCU = MTCE_GS_V2.94_3 Sept 13 2018) will this be compatible with my box?
I would like to get rid of the annoying issue, not sure whether a MCU upgrade will fix it or not, but I would like to try.
Thanks

The answers are found in the forums. Alot of options.
To update your firmware you can install MCU MTCE_WWW_v2.94 or MTCE_KLD_v2.94
To upgrade your OS you can install Android 8.0 using Hal9K 3.1 ROM - https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...nt/rom-hal9k-rom-3-mtcd-e-head-units-t3847477

android for MTCE_LM px5 headunit

Hello, i have some headunit, which i bought with my car (peugeot 307). The android headunit was bought in 2018 by previous car owner, and I had troubles with my navigation app (google maps). I updated MCU to 3.49 and nothing changed, so i updated android (from 8.0 to 8.0 oreo, from yandex disk)
After updating I have problem with fading apps and icons from desktop.... it's so annoying.
I can't update to android 9.0 from that site, it shows me after few minutes of updating that this is incompatibile version (PX5, LM version - which should work).
Can you provide me an update.zip of the newest android ? I would apprecitate that!
here is some info about my PX5:
Serial number: D238DDB527A8D22F
MCU version: MTCE_LM_V3.49_1
Compilation number: px5-userdebug 8.0.0 OPR5.170623.007 eng.hct.20180607.154634 test-keys
update, still didn't updated that headunit
