MCU Update Benefits - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hi Guys
I've got an Erisin unit for my E46 which is running MTBC-KGL-V2.55. It's totally stock at the moment.
From what I understand, there are KGL MCU versions up to 2.80 and versions with enhanced sound logic.
What benefits will I get from updating? What are the differences between standard and modded sound versions?
Cheers
Nick

Somewhere around 2.55 support was added to allow up to 2 hours of "sleep." There were some modified versions which changed the setup of the audio controller, something which can now be done better using MTC Sound.
Other than that, the most noticeable change with newer versions is to cause people problems, because for some reason they think newer is better, upgrade for no reason, and end up breaking something. It's likely that newer versions are released primarily to support newer models, and have little if any benefit for current models.

Exactly my suspicions. Thanks!

Personally I'm interested in the improved sound quality as I'm not 100% happy with how my system sounds. It's for that reason I'm interested in upgrading my MCU

Which Is Best Bluetooth Upgrade

Hi,
I have managed to upgrade my Orange SPV2000 to the 1.22.00 WWE , with 1 1.06.02 Radio ROM. I still have very poor bluetooth reception on my Jabra 250 headset. If the phone is more than 1 foot away the sound is terrible.
What is the best / correct bluetooth stack? I currently have the BT-PPC version 1.0.0 build 3500
Thanks
That is the build I have.
I upgraded to the very latest on I could find 1.6.0.600 which is supposed to improve sound quality, but it didn't and it actually made connection worse. However, that could be to do with my headset.
Here are the stacks I have used. You can get then using ftp from xda-developers.com.
They are in /BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Bluetooth Upgrades
Original 1.0.0.3500 = BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3500.cab
Update for 1.0.0.3500 which is supposed to improve sound quality and add extra support for high quality audio and keyboards = BroadcomCorp_BTUpdatefor1.0.0.3500.cab
Update to 1.6.0.600 = BroadcomCorp_BT1.6.0.600.cab

You did this upgrade but your signature states 1.0.0.3500 as the BT version. Arent you having 1.6.0.0600 or something like that?
How is this stack working for you???
I tried OEM_WWE_160_600.sa.CAB earlier today, this gave me something like 1.6.0.0600, but it was a disaster. Never been as bad as after installing that one, so i went back to 1.0.0.3500
Yeah, as I said, the 1.6.0.600 made matters worse so I downgraded back to 1.0.0.3500.

Sorry about that, better go hit the pillow
any help with upgrading a bluetoth 1.0 to 1.2 or higher? i have plantronics 640 and sound quality is not very good. please advice!!!
Best advice, though not very legal, is to flash your 2003 version to wm2005. This come with a different BT stack and since then, i do not have any sound or pairing problems.
Wififofum doesn't support the new driver, but i can live with that.
could you provide me a link for this update please? there are too many info about wm2005. I have device from O2 XDA 2i.
thanks.

Hello guys im creating this topic in order to find out more about this particular unit, ive already been searching the forum but i cant seem to find opinions on this unit.
Im thinking in buying this one instead of rns-e (original audi) because not only it is cheaper, but it also offers a lot more options since its an android unit. altough its a chinese unit and thats kinda what makes me get one foot behind this buy.. Is there anyone that has the same unit? or same hardware/software that could give me some positive/negative feedbacks?
The unit its this one.

Thanks in advance for your feedback mate.
Can you tell me if the screen is good against the sun light, even on full brightness? Can you actually read things there while theres light in it?
How about the sound quality? Bass?
Thanks!!!
Hi @Ezreal,
I have that one (manufacturer KGL) installed in my Exeo and it works pretty well, only thing I am missing is the radio station/song names and well, of course the navigation instructions in the FIS/DIS screen that you can get only with the RNS-E...
Everything is working fine and would recommend that 100%, although I think I remember the original radio sound better. But that was over 1 year ago when I had that.

Well thats my fear too, i know that the rns would sound a lot better than this one, but well its expensive, and old, its not even touchscreen, although its OEM and wont have problems with GPS/Sound quality..
Do you recomend giving like 360€ for a chinese radio?
RNS its like 550€ +.......
Depends on your needs... If you want to have your car full OEM, then for such a difference go for a RNS-E, but if you want to have all the possibilities that give you android, then China radio... You can install tomtom + all the apps from android for instance and is more customizable...
If you use the gps a lot, I would decide the China radio, if it is only to have MP3 + basic gps functionality + full integration then go for the original one. Your decision

The thing is. I would like to have a radio that could reproduce videos like concerts and stuff, and many more stuff.
The RNS wont read video files.. but has a really nice sound quality, which i dont know if the chinese radio has since its not OEM.
I have a radio 1 din on my A4 and has a really nice sound quality, and bass etc. Im afraid i will lose that quality if i go chinese radio and not OEM.. What do you think?

Then go for the Chinese one. RNS-E will not give you out of the box what you are willing to play.
Sound quality in the Chinese one I think can be improved via de equalizer just adjusting manually the values, but didn't tried yet several combinations. Anyway it is not bad quality sound not to choose that one because one because of that, but I think it is little bit below the standard radio. I may be wrong as it is just my point of view.

Ok i see, i never heard a chinese one playing thats why im questioning..
But how about gps for instance? Does it work well? Crashes? Bugs?
Video must be awesome to play it at night for the passengers and stuff...
Everything is working flawlessly, I am pretty happy with it, I have Malaysk rom and improves the device a lot.
Regarding music sound, I use the app "bass eq" and really notice the difference for better
Try Viper4Android!
Hi, I'm looking at getting one of these for my Audi A2. Currently the only option for the A2 is to purchase A4 RNS-E and modify it to fit the dash of the A2.
The question I have, which relates to your units, is that the Eirisn ES2028A states a resolution of 1024x600, and the pumpkin 11-C1220-UK-A states a resolution of 800x480.
Can anyone confirm if the Erisin does actually have a higher resolution screen, as I was on the understanding that they are all made by the same company (HuiFei), then distributed by different resellers (Pumpkin, Erisin, Eonon, Joying, etc).
Any help would be appreciated.

Well according to ebay, pumpkin is 800x, I think the others are all 1024x, but cant confirm 100%
Thank you for the quick reply.
Is it worth going for the higher resolution screen?
I've seen more info about Pumpkin versions than Erisin, so wasn't sure if it was worth going for the lower resolution screen and getting a possibly more robust headunit.
I'll keep an eye on the Erisin units then, unless the others update their screens.

Well i dont think its a huge diference between resolutions since the screen is only 7"..
If it was a TV i would go for higher resolution, but again, i can be wrong because i never saw both standing near me so i could test it.. I would wait for experts to come and take our doubts out..
But the price its kinda the same.. the 800 one its the same (sometimes bigger) than the 1024.. according to ebay..

In my A3, I have had to fade the sound mostly to the back and then crank up the volume a bit. With the addition of Viper4Android app, I have been able to make a pretty good sound stage... but the original Audi Concert audio system still sounded better IMO.

Yeah that's what I've done up to now, but the volume is turned up to 3/4 or higher now.. May just run new wires to the front door speakers and rear speakers, and do away with the factory amp.

Thanks

For sure, it's nice to have another Audi on here with the same issues... my volume level is constantly up to about half (15) just to hear anything, then up to like 25 with the windows down and rolling.
Viper4Android installed, with the stock firmware EQ's basically all the way up and the "loud" setting on, has made a significant difference. I'm not sure why V4A says you don't have root... but I would reinstall it right after doing the root password and adb password in the system settings. I have constant root on the Malaysk ROM, so I am not sure.
I am also thinking about hitting up the guys on this website... http://enfigcarstereo.com/audi_radio_installation.html . They have all sorts of aftermarket gadgets for our Audi's that help overcome aftermarket stereo issues. I am looking at the "Enfig RWH-AUD2-HILO" as a possible solution for the low audio/factory amp problem.

Audi A3 - Dynavin WIN-CE vs Android ? Feedback wanted

Hi guys,
right now i am using a dynavin d99 which works ok.
seeing all these great android head units i am actually thinking about selling my dynavin and buying one of these.
I have 3 head units i am interested in:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/XTRONS-Autor...465112?hash=item2a605f0018:g:LgYAAOSw--1WqcHn
http://www.ebay.de/itm/2015-Neu-And...578113?hash=item4885ed7941:g:cS0AAOSwLzdWRDB8
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Android...del:A3&hash=item4af03f2cc2:g:fz0AAOSwf-VWapiR
the last one has a resolution of 1024x600 the other ones 800x480.
should i take the high resolution one or due to speed issues the low one?
Do the Android head units work without issues? Will they still be good use in 2-3 years or do i have to upgrade (because of newer android versions coming out every year)?
Can I somehow save the radio station names? I don't like to have the frequencies there I don't want to learn the frequencies
I read about a mic mod - will plugging an external mic be sufficient or do i have to do this mod? (looks a bit dangerous)
Do steering wheel buttons work?
Do they have DSP Chips?
which one of these 3 should I buy? the first two i guess are hui fei the last one i don't know but it also looks like hui fei
thanks for your help in advance

Which Android Version is Better for RockChip Px5 2gb Ram

I have a MTCD PX5 device with 2gb ram and it came with Android 6.0.1 from factory. I'm thinking of upgrading to Android 9.0
Can someone tell me Advantages/Disadvantages of this upgrade path? I'm specifically curious about performance wise difference.
Is it worth it?
First. READ THE FORUM, flashing involves the risk of bricking your unit.
Second. AFTER reading a lot. upgrade the MCU to the latest version vesrsion
Third. use Malaysk or Hal9k roms ...look in the forum.
good luck

How is your device working right now?
I also have the PX5-2GB (the D version of MTC, not the E) and when I first got it (~2017) I found 0 latency on the user interface, and I was very happy with the responsiveness. I kept it updated until Hal-9K W/Android-9 earlier this year, and the lack of responsiveness / UI reaction time delay was so noticeable that I decided to go back to Android 8 (Hal9k again).
Honestly, the delay is still there (maybe a little bit better reaction times), and I actually though of moving back to Hal9K Android 9 to get the improvements on the GPS, but I got feed-up with all the install/set-up process and I am planning now on changing the unit.
I can not claim that there was a clear point in time when the unit got "broken", or a specific upgrade that broke it. I suspect that the main issue is not the Android version but the fact that the Apps (mainly Maps,Google Keyboard, and so on) become more resource-intensive after 4 years
So, in a nutshell:
1) If the unit is working well, the User Interface is responsive, and you do not notice lags, DO NOT TOUCH IT !!! (and pls let me know). The extra features you might get are not worth the risk of messing with your performance
2) If you already notice lags on heavy apps (like Maps), I'd recommend Hal9K on Android 9 as it has some features to make GPS response time faster (well, I think Malaysk has the same patches as well). I do not think lags / responsiveness will get worse, but surely not better. Again, I think is an issue more on the apps rather than the OS itself.
If you go ahead with the update, pls post the outcome on this thread. It would be useful for other people to hear from your experience.
By the way, most probably your bluetooth chip is not compatible with Android 10.

Buying advice/review site?

Hey folks,
I'm planning to replace my headunit - currently using a Pumpkin headunit (MTCE, KLD, 4GB RAM, octacore, Hal9k mod).
Before flipping through thousands of threads in the forum (as the search won't work for me too look for any existing threads, always something about "security error occured") I'd like to know if there are any good sites where current models are being evaluated/compared?
I don't give much care fore OEM function support (my car doesn't even have CAN-/LIN-Bus) however I'd like a headunit with "good" sound quality and the "standard" stuff (GPS, WiFi or built-in 4G module, bluetooth/hands free, steering wheel button support) and maybe a volume knob instead of 2 buttons.
Oh - definetly looking for universal 2din unit without an oversized screen or stuff as I like to keep it rather flush form-wise. (see pic)
As far as I understand the newer headunits with a PX6 board are superior to the px5 ones, despite having a hexacore only?
Anything else I should watch out for? Any "bad" manufactureres? Anything that stands out?
Best regards and thanks in advance!
