Aftv2 working/non working sideloaded apps, accessories & modules thread - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The working/non working sideloaded apps, accessories & modules thread for Root & Non-Rooted AFTV2
I'm starting this thread so that some of the new or regular users have somewhere to compare accessories/sideloaded apps & experiences with each other, please help each other & add any good compatible apps or xposed modules so we have a place to find new stuff for our Amazon Fire Tv 2. There will also be a working & non working section. Add any in the comments with some information (version numbers too if needed), & if there are problems with them? I will add them to the main front page (post1).
We can only operate this if we all work together so feel free to add any working or non working in the comments below.
PLEASE NOTE
I don't want any downloads to any wares (this is standard XDA rules) or links to apps In any form even google play store or amazon links too, the only exception to this is if you have a link for a guide on Xda forums to get the sideloaded app or accessories to work (not the download to any APK's!!!!).
I have noticed that you need to turn off usb debugging in the developer section otherwise the usb port will not function correctly on the AFTV2!!!!
Some apps also may need Root access, Google Apps (Gapps), Google Framework, Xposed & or Xposed modules to make them work & sometimes will require a reboot of the system, I will as & when add this information next to the apps when possible.

Thame at me.

Posted this same thing, but only for accessories in the fire TV general section last week...
My xbox360 wired works just fine, FYI. I play naught 2 regularly using it. Only issue I've noticed is that the top bumpers do not register (white light doesn't blink when pressed), there is no menu button, and my mouse cursor disappears when the controller is plugged in...

plugged into the hub, I'll go put it in direct and see if it registers... I'll just edit this post afterwards
Sorry, life happens..
Works fine direct connect, no difference I could detect.
I was wrong about one thing though, the top bumpers light the white led, the bottom triggers do not. However, the d pad and sticks don't light the led, but both work for navigation, so maybe they work in a game that uses them.
I did notice depressing the sticks (either) does the same as the green button (ok/enter), had not noticed that before.

Guide to get the PS4 Controller working on the AFTV2
Ok so i saw this & copied the work around if you want to go to the original thread the link will be at the bottom of this page.
Here is what you have to do.
I had to pull out my windows install to run the SixAxisPairTool to get the PS4 controller to pair. There is a Mac version but no matter what I tried it kept saying there were no controllers on the USB bus.
In the ADB shell you need to pull the Bluetooth MAC address from your FireTV Stick using this command:
$ settings get secure bluetooth_address
Take that value and plug it in to the tool and then you will be paired.
To get the controller to work with the PS4 again is as simple as plugging it in via USB to the PS4.
It's not quick to swap back and forth as you need to rerun the pair tool to get the controller to work with the fire tv again.
The original thread is here (look at post 4 for the guide)-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/unable-to-pair-ps4-controller-to-firetv-t3250644
Make sure you give him thanks on his thread if this works for you.

Added more apps & accessories to the list 7/1/16
If anyone has anymore please feel free to add them to our list

ePSXe works perfectly. The preferences page doesn't crash in the new version, so remapping the game controller is no problem without a mouse.

These 360 Controller knockoffs work perfectly with Fire TV and they're fairly priced at US 13.99 with free shipping! My pink one just arrived and I tested it with a round of Modern Combat 5

@tekno4ever thanks for the info with the vpn app, I added it to the list cheers.

I have a Logitech K700 and it works fine. Touchpad works too.

BT Sport App for Kindle Fire Stick
Hi, Would appreciate it if someone could post the current BT Sport App APK (v 2.11.0) for download via Windows PC. I can then sideload onto Fire stick using Adbfire. Thanks in advance

Fyi with @rbox twrp recovery and pre rooted img on aftv2, Google Chrome works (worked out of the box for me) with a mouse app such as Wukong as well as Play Store works if done correctly including downloading apps..
Also, Xposed works great on aftv2 as well now.. I feel your list needs to be udpated soon haha

Hey guys, just got my fire tv, 2nd Gen.
Finished installing it, and I had two games in the appstore: sonic 4 ep2, and minecraft pocket edition. Bought these years ago for the kids.
Anyway, I had an old generic ps3 controller that I connected to the fire tv, and I can confirm that it's working perfectly.
I looked it up on amazon, and it's this model, if anyone has it, give it a try:

Datel Wii wireless retro controller: Info & Tests

Hi All,
I ordered a Datel Wii wireless retro controller from http://www.codejunkies.com/ and finally got it! Its decently made and if I can get the bugs worked out I would suggest it to others came to about 46 dollars with S&H.
Currently I have tested it out using both Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.) and Wii Controller IME (by Ryan Frawkley). Both apps seem to sync with this model controller no problem and seem to hold the connection.
Below is a small comparison between the two (for all testing 1 was only installed at a given time)
Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.)
- Syncs and holds the connection
- Need to have compatibility mode disabled in spare parts to work correctly in full screen mode
- Appears to be able to map both of the analog sticks and all other buttons on the controller
- Views the controller as a classic controller
- Update from Dev - pikipirs
WiimoteController supports what is known as PWM mode. This is not analog stick emulation as Nintendo64 expects, but is as close to it as possible. It works by quickly pressing and depressing emulated keys, something you would be doing for example if you played a racing game on a computer with directional keys and you wanted to turn the steering wheel just a little.
You can activate this mode by going to WiimoteController's Preferences->Advanced settings. You have control over each axis of all sticks (nunchuk's and both from the classic controller). If you want to for example activate PWM for the left classic controller stick, set "CC L-stick X-mode" and "CC L-stick Y-mode" to Analog.
A word of advice: analog sticks have dead spots at the neutral position and when in this position, WiimoteController will not emulate any keys, but it might if your classic controller's analog stick is too sensitive. If you touch the PWM-mode-enabled stick outside your emulators, you'll get a shower of letters, so try to avoid that. Also, when you are plugging your classic controller into the wiimote, don't touch any analog sticks on it because WiimoteController expects all sticks to be in the neutral position when it detects them.Side note from Jvward - I am a moron who after emailing both dev's I posted the response from pikipirs somehow got confused and posted in the section below, I have since updated it, Also special thanks to pikipirs for reading my post and keeping me on point
Wii Controller IME (by Ryan Frawkley)
- This controller is actually suggested as the only non Nintendo made controller by the dev.
- Some buttons don’t work (mainly both analog sticks are un-mappable)
- Because of the problems with both analogs I am unsure how this application views this controller (being as a wiimote or a wiimote with a classic controller)
- I have emailed the dev about the analog support and no response as of this point, I am going to email him again today.
Preperation
In any of the "oid" app's by yongzh
you need to make the following changes after properly sycning the Datel Wii wireless retro controller (or a wiimote) with either of the two applications listed above. (thanks Salpula for this info):
Input settings > Key Mappings - remap the keys as necessary
Then
Other settings > Use input Method > check off the box
FPse Controller Info:
Coming Soon!
Testing
I tested: SNESoid, Nesoid, GameBoid, N64oid, and Gmail using both applications and the controller.
With all of the applications both sync apps worked fine and generally speaking gave the same results, accept for N64.
If anyone remembers who ever made the original N64 controller was probably smoking something good when they designed it and due to this you need to take full advantage of all of the buttons on the Datel Wii wireless retro controller. Only one application was able to do this as of this point, being Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.). Regardless of how it ran I was only able to play golden eye via Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.) and not
Wii Controller IME (by Ryan Frawkley)
Conclusions
Datel Wii wireless retro controller is honestly a better controller to sync to any android device in my humble opinion as of this point then a standard wii mote. Most android users will be syncing controllers to their devices to play emulated games and while the wii mote accomplishes this its not great at it, and honestly kind of sucks for systems with alot of buttons on the controller (PS1 and N64). The only way to get around the button limitation as of this point that I know of is using Wiimote Controller (by C.C.P.) and Datel Wii wireless retro controller.
P.S. I would love a PS3 sync app but as of this point it does not exist
Did you set wiiremote ime as the keyboard input?
Hi,
Yep I did.
Alternately, if your Xoom is Rooted, try Rwiimote.
Its not but I guess I could. What's the advantage of rwiimote?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Not sure what the advantages are, I've only come across it recently, but I'd have thought worth a go to see whether it works.
I have mine working with all the emulators. Make sure you enable a
"Alternate control" or whatever.
Edit : the setting is actually "use input method"
Edit 2: i use wiimote controller by ccp

Bumped with new info
Just got my Datel and I'm at work so I've only tested it with SNESoid and N64oid but it's working well. I was using Rwiimote for the wiimote but the Datel doesn't seem to like this. Quickly downloaded Wiimote Controller and configured and was impressing my co-workers with Super Mario Kart. Lovely.
I wish the controller werent so expensive...and RARE, not even amazon has them, the hell. I'll probably stick with my wiimote/classic controller pro combo, at least for a month or so. Isnt onlive supposed to be releasing a controller for the ipad and android?
Ouch, $40? I paid$23 on ebay.

hi all,
I just bought a datel wireless retro controller and played for a while with FPse and GameBoid. I found that it is really hard to execute top-left, top-right, bottom left and bottom-right these 4 directions by using the control pad. Does anyone have the same experience?
I don't have much experience on game issues, so i don't know if that is normal or not. Thanks for help.

[Update: New guide for Shadowgun too] PS3 controllers + Galaxy S II (stock ROMs)

[Update]
New video now that I found the guide at Android central about how to use a PS3 controller with Shadowgun - and of course a guide
Hi everyone, thought this might interest a few others here:
Pairing is via the Sixaxis Controller app ($2 on the Market), and there is a guide on pairing here (I made one since the Sixaxis Controller's homepage guide is not very user friendly). Root is required.
Thanks dude.. now I can play flash games on it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Thanks, might have to give it a try.
Thanks for the info dude.
But I can't think on any game that I could use a sixaxis for...
Shadowgun? Emulators?
PS3 controllers can be used with Shadowgun now too (initially they don't work via bluetooth except for movement):
Can anyone confirm the analog sticks work AS analog sticks? My only gripe with some of these controller apps (bluezime, wiimotecontroller, sixaxis controller) is they currently lack any "true analog" stick support. I certainly can't blame the developers, as they're using the framework they've been given (which in gingerbread is ONLY mapping to keyboard keys), it's still a bit of a pain and something that keeps me from using these controllers as often as I'd like. Even Mario64 requires fine analog control, not the typical "all or nothing" that occurs, even while using the analog stick, as it is converted into digital as a keypress.
If this app "Shadowgun" actually operates as analog (you move the stick a little you tiptoe, move it a lot you run) then I'd love to try it. Otherwise I believe we'll have to wait for ICS for that feature (I believe honeycomb had true analog support as well).
I know the Phonejoy one works full analog, however it took a while for the apps / emulators to be able to recognize the analog inputs (working now).
Most of these require roms that do not support MHL however, meaning if you wanted to connect to your big screen TV and play, you cant. (unless it changed recently)
Also, many only support single player (Like the phonejoy) so you can either have several people playing on your phone screen or one person playing on a big screen.

Limelight

[APP] A-PC GamePad - Control PC as gamepad with any app + multiple controllers

Hey guys wanted to share this here. I have created a client/server app for android + pc. I designed it specifically for Nvidia Shield Portable, but it should work with any android device (OS4.4 KitKat) that has a true android gamepad attached.
A-PC GamePad <- check out my website for more details.
So what is it?
This is a solution to use your Nvidia Shield as a PC GamePad. There is an android app (client) that takes over the gamepad input and sends it over wifi to a PC app (server). The server app feeds a vJoy gamepad with the input from the Shield gamepad.
The android app runs in the background, so you can have any app run in the foreground. You can run Nvidia's GameStream or Splashtop Streamer and still control your PC. This app overrides the controls from the gamepad. This means you can stream your games even if your PC is not gamestream ready! You can still navigate the Shield with the touchscreen, back and home buttons.
Supports multiple controllers! I have only tested with two gamepads (Shield Portable, and Shield Controller), but it should work with up to 16 gamepads. If anyone has success with more controllers, please let me know.
Note that the vJoy app emulates a DirectInput controller, not an Xinput controller. However, you can run x360ce for Xinput games. I have found that this interferes with Xinput controllers attached to the PC at the same time. For now, this is going to be how it works.
I really want to hear some feedback so please let me know what you think.
This is what I've been looking for, thanks!
I'll check it out next week and give you feedback.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing your app with us, i have a question, have you tried using steam with you app like 360 controller ? i will try to do that one i get home
Thanks again

Fire TV Stick w/HBO GO side loaded - Is there a way to actually use the app?

Unlike the Fire TV, the Fire Stick TV doesn't have a USB port, so a keyboard and mouse don't seem to be an option (please correct me if I'm wrong). I side loaded the .apk of the latest version of HBO Go but, being an app developed for touch screens, is it possible to actually use such an app on the Fire TV Stick? I can't seem to figure out a way to operate it with the Fire TV Stick remote. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Download an app called wukong from the app store on your phone enables a mouse cursor on the fire tv stick
2 ways to control it usewukong app as mouse and remote to scroll or even better if u have a bluetooth keyboard/mouse or game pad u can use that after installing the settings.apk file to mary the device. I use the ipazzport mini keyboard and touchpad works great.

Are you referring to an Xbox 360 controller to use with the Fire TV Stick? I would prefer to use that if it works. I love that controller and would feel much better than even the official Amazon one.
