Remapping phisical buttons - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hello,
I'm trying to remap a physical button on my radio (Huifei RK3188) Erisin 2246B with Android 4.4.4 Malaysk rom . I have obtained the button code using Car Service program (in this case, code 43). I want that button has the HOME function. So, I have created the mtc-keys.ini file with the following line:
action_43=home
I created the mtc-keys.ini file in the mtc-keys folder and I put this folder in mnt/internal_sd.
I have Xposed framework installed and I have installed mtc-keys module. But still not working. What do I do not do it correctly?
Could you give me some advice?

Hi. I am with original rom. Is possible remapping the physical buttons without root?

Place the mtckeys.ini on the external sd

Copy the mtc-keys folder to your external SD, not just the file.

well did it work ?

[Q] A zip that deletes the manual and quick start from NST?

Hello there,
I have a simple question, I'm sure most of you developers know how to help us all.
I have a NST not rooted (I don't really need for mods and stuff) but I would like to get rid of the manual and the quick start guide that really annoys me.
Is it possibile to create a zip (maybe an img would be even better) that starts ClockworkmodRecovery and then that includes a flashable zip that deletes the 2 epubs?
So that everyone can delete them once and for all.
Let me know if I can help you.
Perhaps it would be better to download and install a root explorer (such as ES File Explorer) and use it to browse and delete these epub files.

well, that includes rooting, installing a launcher, installing a program...
i thought that a zip that does it without rooting and without anything permanent on the device would be better.

I make what you asked for, find it enclosed. It is a zip update for CWM. I guess you know how to proceed but I've left instructions below for those who face this issue for first time:
1. Make a backup of your NST with noogie following this instructions.
2. Download the file enclosed within this post.
3. Burn 2gb_clockwork-rc2.img file to be written on a SD-Card using Win32DiskImager or dd on linux.
4. Open the SD-Card (where you burn 2gb_clockwork-rc2.img) and copy the DeletingEpubGuides.zip on the SD-Card.
5. Power down and insert the SD-Card on the NST.
6. Press the power button for 3 seconds, so that the device boots (you don't have to hold the power button after the 3 seconds)
7. As soon as the display changes to the "CWM logo" screen, push and hold the lower left and the lower right button until the screen changes again. Wait until you see the recovery. Hence, you'll be already booted into Clockworkmod recovery (Button layout: Both Buttons on the left: BACK / Upper button on the right: UP / Lower button on the right: DOWN / n button: SELECT / Power button: TOGGLE DISPLAY).
8. Install through CWM recovery the DeletingEpubGuides.zip update placed on the SD-Card. When you'll read "Done" press power button during 10 second and eject the SD-card.
9. Press power button to turn on the nook to let the devices open commonly.
I've just tested it over my NST v1.1.2 and works without problem.
Best.

I'm running 1.2.1, and I found them at /system/assets/userguides/standard/ . (There's also a /glowlight/ folder in the /userguides/ directory, FWIW.)
EDIT: However, deleting them there doesn't seem to remove them from the library. And I can't find the /system/media/books folder. Hmmm...
EDIT AGAIN: Also found them in /data/cloud_assets/books/userguides . Deleting, rebooting, and will report back here if that did it.
LAST EDIT I SWEAR: SUCCESS! Deleting them from all the locations listed above made them vanish from the library.

Am using systemless xposed n root. And GB work fine
Xposed modules never modify any system files - that's the principle of Xposed! You can always uninstall modules, and then always everything is as before!
Most options in GB work fine -however the QuickSettings section and the hardware button functions have issues.

Configuring long press or double press for the hardware buttons in GB does not work for me. I can only change them in the Settings menu which has limited choices.
Are you able to change them via GB?

You have to edit Generic.kl file located at system/usr/keylayout.
You have to edit key 127,139,158,580.
Add VIRTUAL to this key.
for example -
original - key 158 BACK
Modified - key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
==
edit this file with any root enabled file explorer (e.g Root explorer, solid explorer).
Apply proper permissions (0644) to file and reboot the phone.
Now you can assign any custom shortcut to any hardware key through GravityBox.

Thank you for the explanation.
As I understand from your previous posts, modifying the file, hence modifying /system will break OTAs. On my phone, /system is still untouched - is it possible to keep a backup for the Generic.kl file and restore the original backup for the OTA installation to work again when a new OTA arrives?

No.
once you mounted /system partition rw, OTA will fail even if you have not done anything thing with system partition.
There are apps (search for button remaper in play store) which don't requires root to change shortcuts of hardware buttons

No it doesn't. It won't modify your system files.
To disable all tweaks:
Just disable (uncheck) it from xposed module list and all tweaks will be disabled.

GB messes badly with quick settings.
For hardware button function see my reply here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68477822&postcount=8
I just got a OP3 and have also noticed problems with the quick settings.
I dont know if I broke it by attempting to modify in GB but I can't seem to modify my quick settings properly from either GB or the OnePlus settings anymore.
Unticking "NFC" for instance in either settings isn't making it go away. No way around this, eh?

[F31xx][F32xx][APP] MTK EngineerMode

Hi,
As you probably know we can't acces to the hidden menu "EngineerMode" to increase the speaker volume... until now
I succefully modified the app to work on rooted XA :good:
I will not explain how to use this dangerous menu, you can find many guides for that.
How to install:
- Download the attached zip, copy the 3 folders to "/system/app" and reboot.
- On the phone dialer enter *#*#3646633#*#*, the menu will appear.
- Don't forget to make backups of your partitions before playing with this !
Some features are greyed because of missing apps, I don't know if it's usefull to try to add them ?

Hi,
This thread was created on december 2016, you have to downgrade your phone to a Marshmallow firmware older than that.
I don't remember if it works on later M firmware but I'm sure that will not works on Nougat.

Thanks for the answer despite the old thread.
Is there no way to access it in the Nougat firmware? What a bullsh*t Sony did with that then.
To downgrade the phone I would need to get the MM Firmware from anywhere. Do you have any link for it? Would reformatting and flashing it through TWRP be enough to get it to boot?

There is probably a way to acces it with Nougat but you have to find updated MTK apps.
To downgrade you have to download the firmware with Xperifirm inclued in Flashtool. Be careful with Flashtool, read/watch guides on how to flash firmware to avoid hard brick.

thank you very much
In addition, can you add multi language, I want to add Japanese, thank you.
multi language can use with molocale2
I tried but too unstable.

Hi,
I tried to update using the A2.rar file. This file seems to be password protected. 55933 seems to work here.
--
With the system image, at first I wondered how to flash this. After unpacking the file and following the instructions given in the above mentioned guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=3673945) it worked fine.
Using qfil I selected flat build, found the *firehose* file in the extracted directory and also the xml files (rawprogramm and patch) you have to select. Starting qfil phone was recognized as Hisense... at COM12 during the process it changed to Qualcomm... at COM13. I did not use adb commands (this did not work for me). For me qfil put the phone automatically in download mode.
Up to now all works fine. Menus are in english, some might be in chinese. Gapps, gmail and my old apps installed ok.
Thanks again to joygram
Password for archive is wrong?
@baistan the a2 file for the general system upgrade to 6.09.03 is hosted at a baidu site. You need the pw given by joygram to enter his baidu account. Then you have to install a baidu download client, because the file is 1.48 GB. The file itsself is a .rar archive, which is password protected. I googled the file and found a chinese hisense fans forum. Here a file with the same name was posted. pw was given with 55933
So you need two passwords.
The new rom is only chinese / english and has no gapps.
Joygrams system.img installed fine. GoogleApps workt about two days for me, now it crashed and does not start any more, maybe because of a playstore update. This seems to be common. Maybe this issue can be solved.
Here a google drive linke to the file (makes it easier) https://drive.google.com/open?id=11anmiy8FEQNbVzu9kbS72WKFr-zmHope
Have not got playstore to run again,
flashed the A2 rom again
and use f-droid; uptodown and/or yalp store to install apps.
Thank you
Do you think it is possible to install " 7.0 or CYANOGEN MULTILINGUE " with the support of the " E-INK " screen?
That I cann not tell you. I am no developer, sadly.
I do not know if anyone got TWRP running on this phone. I know, that it is possible to customize TWRP, there are examples on youtube, but I do not know if I am able to do it.
For me it would be interesting to flash gapps. I don´t know if you can do this using qpst.
I hope there is some development for this phone in the future.

the ROM "JOYGRAM" is in English and Chinese!
By against the Playstore works very well you do not turn off your phone!
from the moment you turned off your phone the factory "Google Play Services" !!
Ducout you must be very careful never to crash and do not repel if the application that works with "Google Play Services" (youtube, play store, gmail, etc ...) no longer works!
we are unable to delete the account [email protected] and "conscious"
I think he should root the phone and add Google Play Service and Play Store!
but I do not know how to sit for root on HISENSE!
I would like to find a charitable soul who could help me carry a Rom Stock 6.0 from Google and add on Driver and E-Ink!
or take the ROM of the HISENSE A2PRO 7.0 Nougat and change it for the Hisense A2 because unless I'm wrong there is not much difference between the 2 phones!
PS: "JOYGRAM" recommend this for translation: you may want to set the language in Japan, French etc ...
this language in the Vision-Setting.apk
I tried to edit this file.
but the system does not start, so I stopped.
but some can stay.
1. Copy Vision-Setting.apk to pc
Use decompile with apktool
3. add a new language in the res and translate the language
4. repack the copy in system.img
I wrote system.img with the Linux system mount in the virtual machine.
I can not do perfact system.img because there is no last system.img.

Good evening "OF_Ge_72"
think you can put on google the other version available on fans.hisense because being in France it is impossible for me to download the possible version available on fans.hisense !

Thanks, but unfortunately the baidu link is down (as far as I understand it). Would it be possible to upload it elsewhere in order to keep your guide alive?

Note 3: Because of I'm new user XDA blocked to post links. To dowload firmwares just remove SPACES from links
If you want to see your firmware version:
1. Vision settings
2. Turn on Talkback
3. Swipe your finger DOWN and RIGHT (L)
4. Talkback settings
5. Search Voice settings with Assistant
6. Open Youtube
7. When opening browser, select Chrome
8. Download Holo Launcher (or anyone)
9. Install and Open
10. Go to Settings and see your firmware version
Note that you cannot bypass frp with this way, because all modificiations blocked by FRP protection. Only way is to flash correct firmware.
