Cast Screen Issue - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When selecting Cast Screen from the quick settings it doesn't show my TV or any other capable device. While in YouTube it will show my TV just fine. I'm trying to cast my phone to my TV to view pics but can't seem to figure it out

Cast Screen is screen mirroring. I believe that's only with Chromecast and Android TV products. I use AllCast to show stuff like pics and videos on my Samsung Smart TV.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Thanks for the app suggestion, but I know I use to mirror my screen on my old N5 to my smart tv using the same process. So did Google Change it? If so that sucks

I have a Samsung smart TV, and opening up screen cast shows my TV just fine. I don't need to use all share, although my TV is quite new so maybe that has something to do with it.

Hmm. Will have to give it a try. I remember it not working with my Galaxy S5 running CyanogenMod but it could've been the ROM.

It's possible, I'm running Pure Nexus BTW, no issues with cast so far.

So just tried and I don't see my TV. It's not old either. Samsung 4K from 2014. Even in the Cast "Help and feedback" section it's talking about Chromecast and Miracast for screen mirroring.

Mine only works when I tap the 3 dots and tick the enable Wireless Display.
If unticked it won't connect (Nexus 5 and LG TV and blu-ray)

Can I delay my password being needed?

Title says it. On my old phone I was able to delay my lock screen pattern from being needed but can't find the option anywhere. Basically I want the normal lock screen until its been locked for 5 minutes. I can only seem to accomplish this using widget locker which I really want to get rid of honestly.

Two ways to do it, which one do you need?
The first one is only if you have a lock on it, such as the numerical one.
The second option is if you just have he sliding lock, where you don't need to do anything but slide the circle to the Lock icon.
Just try them both and see which one works best for you.

Hi Guys, did you ever figure it out ?
I'm really frustrated by how elusive this setting is.
I'm running AOKP, but all that "Wait to lock screen" option in ROM control does is to cancel lock screen all together until timer is met and then it's just the password lock screen.
Did anyone figure out a way to do a "simple" lock screen with just a swipe, and then a "protected" lock screen when timer ran out ?

I see two panes in Gmail app: left pane shows all the labels & right pane shows email message. But, while in portrait, if you were to select an email message, it will switch to 1 pane. For landscape, it always shows 2 pane.

Actually, the app uses wifi tethering, but for sending files. The speeds are comparable to those of WiFi Direct. Moreover, I'm adding NFC pairing in the next update, so this will be quite exactly what you are looking for.

I find it hard to believe they don't have a working Google wallet considering Mr. Pachai has been using this tablet for months. I'm sure the update will come, hopefully others update their apps too. Come on guys, this forum has been open for only a few days and there already is fighting. The point of the matter is that if someone asks a question, do your be best to answer without being a douche. Too much on this site have I seen people judging people for what they want to do with their device (such as taking pictures or using wallet with a tablet, trying to get instagram to work, etc.), its their device and they can do whatever they like with it. No one made you the official judge of whats cool or not! So play nice and help out your fellow members in this Dev community without your personal opinions reflecting in your post

That Androidpolice story is a bit confusing. Does it say that it will never be compatible due to lack of security chip or it may be compatible in the future with updates?

Will Nexus 5x have OTG support?

I haven't seen anyone talking about it, I was wondering will the USB type-c allow OTG?
Like prior models I assume it will support USB OTG by custom kernel and app (stickmount)

Obviously can't guaranty anything with the 5X not even being out yet, but as a general matter Android 6 supports USB OTG natively.
See this thread, particularly Posts 32, 38, & 39.
Just a quick question as I've never used OTG, besides being able to transfer files from the flashdrive or what not, can I access the files? As in, if i have a lot of movies on a flashdrive can i just plug in the cable and watch them that way?
Yes

Really?? That would be very upsetting.
In Marshmallow, once you plug in a USB drive, you should be able to see the drive like in the screenshots below (going to "Settings" then "Storage & USB"). See this review as well, discussing how Marshmallow treats USB storage. Perhaps try a different OTG cable?

I noticed that, but even changing though all the settings, including MIDI! Didn't get it working. Power flows but no data. I wonder if the lead is duff... Looking forward to hearing of your experiences when you get yours.
