[Q] Can't unlock bootloader - HTC Desire 300

Hi
I'm new into Android HTC scene.
I just got Desire 300 to play and I wanted to root it, so i see that only way is Unlock Bootloader->Recovery->Kernel.
However I can't maker first step...
I created account on HTC website, got through first 4 steps and stopped coz, my PC doesn't recognize the device... And even if it sees ADB device interface, but ADBDrevierInstaller doesn't find the device.
Do I need any additional drivers? But it should see it as fastboot device, right?

Stuck in WFS Recovery (White HTC Logo)

It all goes like this - I wanted to root my WPS to solve space problem, although, there was a solution for it without rooting, I figured I will be wanting to use some apps that need root access and some roms sooner or later.
So I did a search and found few ways to root my phone. Being a lazy ass I decided to use "the simple" one click solutions - gingerbreak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765) or Root Unlocker (http://www.unlockroot.com/) This was no success. Gingerbreak kept rooting when I launched the app, but Root Unlocker displayed " FAIL TO GET SHELL ROOT". I figured that problem with Gingerbeak might be that I updated the software to the latest version -
Then I went on and tried another tutorial(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275). Everything was fine till I selected Recovery from bootloader. It got stuck with white HTC logo. Took out the battery tried to use newer version of ClockworkMod Recovery, but still was a no-go. I also can't do a factory restart. I can't do it from bootloader or settings > SD & phone storage > Factory data reset. (But could do it at first. Before trying to root my device I did a factory reset once.)
Is there a way to use another Recovery (not CMR) or force Recovery from fastboot? As I found there are some other people that got stuck with similar problem.
Other problems:
My phone doesn't show up in HTC Sync. Althought, when I tipe adb devices in cmd, it shows up. I did turn my AntiVirus off when I installed HTC Sync, but it still didn't display my phone.
Here are my specs:
Model HTC Wildfire S A510e
It shows Marvel in bootloader.
Phone was S-OFF when I bought it.
Android 2.3.5
HTC Sence 2.1
Software number 2.26.401.3
I bought my phone without a contract from a local internet shop. I am from Baltics.
The phone might be somewhere from Europe.
My bet would be Poland. (guessing that manual language is Polish, but I might be wrong)
Thanks in advance.

rooting my new Vodafone AU issued One X

some questions please in regards to rooting my Vodafone AU phone
I want to install a custom ROM/root the phone so I've been reading this guide => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355.
I want to make sure I have some fallback in case I fcuked up the custom ROM install.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. I found a Vodafone RUU but it seems it's newer than the one I got. 1.28.869.11 instead that one on mine which is 1.28.869.9. I suppose it's better to update mine then? or leave it as is and just flash to 869.11 if I get into trouble?
2. Does someone know of a site that has MD5/SHA hashes of the RUU files just in case I want to verify my copy has downloaded completely/legit? I didn't download mine from the filefactory website as it requires a minimum $12 which I can't afford at the moment. :/
3. htcdev.com site is VERY VERY slow at the moment. bad time to do the unlocking I suppose?
Thank you very much!
1. Newer is better
2. I don't personally but someone might
3. Yes it's VERY slow at the moment as they released the Desire S ICS RUU recently so it's getting a bit of traffic
encountered a new problem during rootin. :/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm kinda stuck in rooting my device. D:
I'm using this guide => [Tut] Preparing Your One X for Custom Roms (For Dummies) - xda-developers.
I have boot my HTC into "fastboot" mode (it says fastboot in the screen). I then plugged the HTC provided cable and "fastboot" now becomes "fastboot USB".
When I try to run "fastboot oem get_identifier_token". It is stuck at "waiting for device". The device doesn't show up in windows explorer. Not really sure if it should show up there or not.
1. Also, I tried running the fastboot command mentioned above with USB debugging enabled and disabled. No effect at all.
2. I have turned off firewall/antivirus just in case too. Still no effect.
3. I've tried running command prompt as normal user and as admin. Still not effect.
4. I have reset my new phone to factory settings as I've installed some apps while browsing XDA on how to go about getting root.
I haven't installed any HTC specific software. I was just following the advice as mentioned in the XDA guide.
Any thoughts? :/
Without the HTC software you have no drivers, hence no response in fastboot. Download and install HTC Sync Manager from the HTC website and then try again
Technically you dont need a hash for an exe (ruu), if its a corrupt download it wont run, simples.

The guide never mentioned it so I thought no HTC software is needed.
Thanks.

Wtf am I doing wrong here... Coming from Gnex

Hello fellow One-X'ers, I am coming from a long line of Samsung devices and have only had one HTC phone in the past, (HD2).
I cant for life of me figure out how to root this phone, I have tried the conventional method, alternate root method, im getting nothing... Bootloader will not unlock through htcdev (which it says to do in half of the root how-tos), i always see error 160 invalid MID...
I have installed and updated the following:
-Java
-HTC Mobile drivers as well as sync
-SDK
-Fastboot
wtf am I missing here? I just want to get a new rom as this sense stuff absolutely sucks. Yes I have searched, yes I have read...
What phone have you got? If I remember correctly the "Error 160" / "invalid MID" responses are returned when you try and use HTCDev to unlock the AT&T One X (actually the One XL) which doesn't support unlocking the bootloader in that way.
Boot into the bootloader and check the model name displayed at the top of the screen: if it says "evita" then that's your problem, and you'll need to head over to the forums for your particular device to get some help because none of the stuff in this section will work - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
If the bootloader shows "endeavoru" then you are in the right place, but in that case I don't know what the problem is.
Uninstall HTC sync, keep the USB drivers mind.

HTC Wildfire S, HTC Sync and Windows 8.1

So here's my situation:
I'm trying to unlock, root, and flash my friend's HTC Wildfire S. I have a Windows 8.1 laptop and we don't really have feasible access to a Windows 7 machine. The Wildfire S does not seem to want to get properly recognized though:
I've tried:
- Running HTC Sync as admin
- Trying two version of HTC Sync
- Tried getting just the USB drivers of it
- Tried USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports
- Tried to use the unsigned drivers method
I've tried everything I can think of... I just want to unlock the dang bootloader... What can I do?
Fixed it by gaining access to a Windows 7 computer. Even after that it was still a nightmare to get working. 13 man hours later and the phone is unlocked, rooted, and running Marvelous CM Android 4.1.2. I'll hear tomorrow about whether it's all in good order or not from my friend and maybe make some tweaks.
Where'd you find the USB drivers?

Hi, Elemein.
I'm not trying to unlock or root the device, I'm just trying to get Sync to see my device. I've been all over the HTC site and Sprint's site and can't find anything. I had a copy of Sync on an old PC, version 3.2.20. I have an HTC Evo View.
Any info you can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi! If you still need help, try this driver for HTC devices. It worked for me on W8.1 and HTC Sync finally found the phone.
sendspace com file wlc1ep
First of all i've installed HTC Sync 3.3.63 with its own driver, and then overwrited with this one.
ps: apparently i can't use urls in my posts yet, so you have to do puzzles. ;)
Yeehah!

Jippi!!! This file saved my sanity.! First I was a bit worried by the installation procedure which didn't give any sign of wether it had succeded installing anything. But then I plugged in the Wildfire, started HTC Sync, and voila!
Now I'm going to try to root it and change ROM.
Tell me anyone if you don't understand tmc_IDM's cryptic link or if the file is removed, I'll provide a new link.

It would be nice if you upload the driver here. I have searched on sendspace but I didn`t found it. Please upload it here. I have Windows 8.1 installed and the PC doesn`t see my phone. Thanks

How can update my Desire

Hi all,
I have an old HTC Desire A8181 purchased in the UK. It has has Android 2.2.2
I cannot install new apps and I cannot enter my Google Account. How can update it so I can install new(er) apps and add my Google account?
If you can point me to instructions and necessary software so from Windows PC I can install/update a new ROM or root it and to stable ROMs, I would be grateful.
Many thanks,
Yiannis
this could help you
Hi Yiannis,
I've got the same problem.
So, for that purpose you only need an update to 2.3.3.
Because I'm not allowed to post links, you should google for "redmondpie update desire" to get the tutorial.
I couldn't connect to HTC Sync. But if you are able to connect, the rest should be simple.
fixed
Hi Yannis,
I've just tried for myself. Put RUU_HTC+Desire+Android+2.3+Upgrade+(Gingerbread).exe on your sd-card, connect to pc (harddrive option)
and run the program.
If your bootloader is unlocked, you have to re-lock it first (fastboot command: fastboot oem lock) and then run the program.
For me it worked fine and I can use whatsapp.
