Hey,
Sorry to revive an old thread. I just installed towelroot from towelroot(dot)com, it went successful. Now my phone says "towelroot" can damage your device. :crying: What should I so, I can't uninstall it can I?
I installed "Root Checker" from google play and it says "Root access is properly installed on this device!"
I couldn't find SuperSU on google play.
What's next? My device is Xperia M C2005 4.3 Stock FW, Build No 15.5.A.0.18
Thanks,

Supersu has been removed from playstore due to some reason. You can download it from their website or just search on Google.

Thanks for your reply. I was just wondering, if my phone is rooted, do I need to install SuperSU?
I checked SuperSU website www(dot)supersu(dot)com(slash)DOWNLOAD and all the links seem to be dead.
I wanted to install TWRP recovery, I installed the app from playstore, flashed twrp img to recovery, but when I try to reboot to recovery, it reboots normally. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for your help.

If you are in stock rom twrp won't work. Cwm recovery might work. And yes you should install supersu so you know which apps are using root access.

Okay great, but now I have more questions.
Xperia M C2005, Stock FW 4.3 Build 15.5.A.0.18
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Phone Rooted: Yes
Now can I install SuperSU via adb command? Few weeks ago I installed SuperSU on my Moto X via TWRP and that's the only method I know so far
or is there any other method? I found the zip file on download(dot)chainfire(dot)eu, now I don't know how to flash it without TWRP.
I'm also planing to install a cleaner much lighter custom rom. Can I do it without TWRP? If yes, how? If you can guide me to a thread or link that's be great too.
Thank yo so very much for your help. :highfive:

If you are already rooted then just install supersu apk. If you google it you'll find many sites having download links.
For custom rom, well I think you misunderstood me. You can access twrp while on stock rom. It's just that you can't flash anything I guess. (I actually forgot what was the problem anyways) I think you are pressing vol - button while power on. Try keep pressing vol + button after installing twrp through adb command. Then usual procedure for installation of custom roms
Here's link to how to install custom rom but one thing is make sure you flash magisk zip along with rom zip.

[Q] Flash bootics.img on Xperia Play

Start by saying I'm very new about Android and smartphone in general.
Four days ago I got my first smartphone, a Xperia Play model R800i and some friends suggested me to install ICS. I searched on the internet and I have found the Xperia Play Development forum. There, I found a really interesting ROM called "New Express ICS".
I downloaded all the files and I started to follow the guide. I'm stuck at the second point (I believe this is ridiculous): I can't get into the Recovery Mode and I didn't get if I can flash the custom kernel (bootics.img) on flash tool.
I haven't rooted my phone, it's 100% virgin, yet.
Can someone explain me what to do? I'm searching answer here and on google for three days and I'm getting even more confused.
Sorry if my english is not perfect, it isn't my first language.
You need to unlock bootloader before fastboot a kernel (bootics.img)

Thank you very much, I'm going to do this. Is this a good guide?
After that what I have to do? How I will flash the rom? Sorry for all these newbie questions.
You should read all his guides.

Thanks for the link, it's very useful! Just a question: what do you mean with "read the root"? I have to root the phone?
I rooted my phone and I found the superuser app on this. Then, I unlocked the bootloader and the superuser app disappered, is it normal?
One more thing, how I flash the custom kernel and the ROM, now?
EDIT: Fail, Superuser is installed, yet, I didn't notice that
EDIT2: Why I can't get into the recovery mode?
unlock bootloader here http://www.xperiagamer.com/Beginners-Guides/unlock-the-bootloader-ramge.html
im not responsible for any damage:good:

I see you unlock your bootloader, good job! Place the ROM zip into your SD card first. Next, to get into recovery mode, just fastboot the kernel you want.
-Power off phone.
-Hold search button while connecting to PC via USB
-Open flashtool, click the thunderbolt icon, select fastboot
-Select kernel to flash (select your kernel bootics.img)
-Wait for 2 seconds and voila!
After that, power on your phone, when blue LED lights up with a vibration, spam volume button / back button (depends on kernel) then you'll be able to enter recovery

Again, read his guide on flashing kernel and roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054512
Which kernel you flash is depended on the rom you want to use it with, you need to flash a GB kernel if you want to use GB rom, ICS kernel for ICS, etc, although some kernel are compatible with both ICS and JB. Search the development section for kernels and roms. If you flash a rom and it fail to boot, it mean the kernel currently installed is not compatible with that rom.
About ClockworkMod Recovery:
If you flash a custom kernel, it will likely have ClockworkMod Recovery included. Or if you are using stock Sony firmware, use the "CWM installer version 5" from this link to install CWM. Sometimes you will get a status 7 error when you try flashing a rom, it might mean you have to use a different version of ClockworkMod to flash that rom successfully.
First of all, thank you both!
Can I flash bootics.img in the Flashtool? The fma965's tutorial speaks about a "*.zip" file besides a "*.img" file.
Also, he says to use fastboot package that I have already used to unlock the bootloader.
EDIT: I need Busybox? What is it? I didn't get it.

Flash boot.img in Flashtool/Fastboot as instructions above from jeff7424:good:Zip files are what you put on your sd card and flash with cwm recovery, these can be either roms, updates to roms, zip files to change appearance, performance tweaks, too many to mention.
So .img and .ftf files use in Flashtool/Fastboot and zip files use on SD card to flash with CWM recovery.
Not to complicate it too much sometimes the boot.img comes in a .zip file you need to extract this to use in flashtool/fastboot with winra/7z unzip programs
Edit; Busybox download it with Superuser app on your phone or download a app from store to update your busybox
What is it?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BusyBox
But I don't need busybox to flash kernel and ROM, right?
You can get busybox from Play Store, just search Busybox installer, install it, open the app and install busybox.

KDZ back to your jb release, root it, freegee it, get into your recovery, install the 4.4 release, install supersu zip, boot into 4.4, freegee it and you're done.
At this point, this is your only option. I was stuck here and no root methods seemed to work on this release.

It's exactly the same as before.
Look for how do I root here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711073
You unlock bootloader. Flash a custom recovery... I suggest twrp. It will ask you when you exit if you want to root. Say yes.
Boot into android, install supersu if it or superuser aren't there already. (from play store)
Or just flash recovery . Install a rom , likely rooted already.

I don't think you have twrp installed anymore, or not properly. You've flashed it with fastboot, since updating to lollipop? How did you update to lollipop?

[Q] New update .270 deletes SU binary?

Hello!
So, yesterday I somehow got bootloop with the stock .242 rom on which had recovery, root and xposed. Then I just re-flashed the system using flashtool. I was lazy to do the downgrade rooting method, so I rooted it using kingroot and then installed the dualrecovery from NUT. From there, I installed a .270 .zip which I made using PRF creator and also flashed the dualrecovery zip. The rom runs fine, but I don't have root! When I start SuperSU it says that there is no su binary. I can do anything, it just doesn't work. Could someone explain me what the hell is that or what did I do wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can. You can use tethered TWRP method to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader.
Since you are using TWRP in tethered mode, you do not need to install the TWRP as such you DO NOT need to unlock the bootloader and you still have your stock recovery.
This guide tells you how to root, install xposed and downgrade. Just read the root part and unroot part.
I do not use the twrp mention in that post. Download the latest twrp here.
I did use the BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328-patch-by-shakalaca-for-zenfone2-6.0.zip mentioned in that post.
The guide mentioned that your bootloader need to be unlocked, however you are using twrp in tethered mode so unlocking the bootloader is unnecessary.
I hope you know how to use the adb.

You can not sideload TWRP. TWRP has to be flashed into recovery partition. Since bootloader is locked, your sideloading TWPR could not be successful as such you still have your stock recovery.
Try to get into recovery.
You might be stuck in the dead robot with red triangle. In that case press and hold the power button, and press and release the volume up button quickly. Try several time until you got into recovery.
If your phone is not booting at all and could not detect from the adb, you might need to flash the .raw file via asus flash tool.
Once your phone is back to normal, follow the guide I mentioned in the previous post to root the phone. You can flash supersu zip in the TWRP install tab.
You can press thank button if my post is helping you.

You can not install the supersu from the stock recovery. Rooting the phone requires to modify the boot.img. From Stock recovery it is not allowed.. As such you need custom recovery like TWRP.
copy the supersu that I mentioned in the previous post to the sd card.
Follow the instructions from the root section of the the guide that I mentioned in the previous post.
That guide tells you to run TWRP in tethered mode.
The command fastboot boot <twrp.img> will move the twrp.img to your phone and let your phone boot into twrp .
Once you are in the twrp, tab the install from zip tab and select the supersu zip file you move to the sd card. If you do not know how to use twrp there are a lot of videos on youtube about twrp.

I am glad that work out for you.
At the end of supersu installation you might see the message saying that you would get that verification error message and tell you to ignore that. I did see that message twice and after that I do not see that message anymore every time I reboot the phone.
I can not help you on the xposed though because I did not install the xposed. I just rooted my phone. If you want you could follow that guide. Load the twrp in the tethered mode and install the xposed from the twrp.

Follow the instructions from the root section of the the guide that I mentioned in the previous post.
That guide tells you to run TWRP in tethered mode.
The command fastboot boot <twrp.img> will move the twrp.img to your phone and let your phone boot into twrp .
Click to collapse
Sorry for rising this 1yo thread.
It seems the tethered TWRP couldn't be successfully flashed on both LP (latest releases) either MM (any release) unless the bootloader is locked. The boot command doesn't give errors, but the phone won't reboot and stay in fastboot/bootloader mode.
Could you confirm that's working on MM, nowadays ?
Thanks
