Is there a way to edit notification panel? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anything out there that does this? I've looked and haven't seen anything. I'd like to resize them (quick settings and the time) as I think they take up too much room or can I get rid of the quick settings completely?
I am rooted and have xposed. I have Nova prime, but the swipe gestures aren't working (even updated to beta). I even tried unselecting everything and all I'm left with is this bull
Thanks

Since you have Xposed, try G4 Tweaksbox. It'll let you prevent the quick settings and volume panels from showing at first, you'll have to swipe down another time to show them. I was of the same opinion, that it's a little ridiculous for those to take up half the screen, but Tweaksbox works really well for me.

The SoftKeys and their behavior...

This might sound ridiculous, but i hate the softkey behavior of the G3 - out of the box. Its driving me nuts that the single-tap and the long-press of the menu key isn't reversed! Am i alone with this? I used that button a lot with me S4. I think you should get your menu/settings from the quick tap and your RECENTS from a long press. Anyway, im sure it won't take long to come across a module to help with reassigning the behavior of these. Gravity Box worked really well for this exact kind of thing on the S4...maybe one day we'll have that option
Any thoughts or ideas on how this might be possible as of now? Thanks!

G3 Tweaks gives an option to reassign long press of the home key. It is under Theme Tweaks - requires paid versions (I think it was like $2.50?)
The menu button isn't always useful, though, while the recent button always is for task switching. Plus every app has its menu easily accessible.

Really? Wow. Well I'm glad someone else tried it first haha. When I tried making ANY type of changes with Gravity Box to my soft keys on my S4 (TW, 4.4.2), I ended up having to do a full restore...so I've been hesitant to even install Gravity Box on my G3 without a recovery. So...you're saying Gravity Box works perfectly fine on here though, huh?

Gravity Box does work. I switched it out for G3 Tweaks though for the additional color customization.

Sweet! Yeah I'm sure G3 TweaksBox will bring us more features over the next 6 months or so. I just wish there was a data-mod for masking 4G traffic...looking like you aren't using as much "4G" as you really are, haha. I'm sure that's never gonna be a thing though
This is my 3rd day ever with T-Mobile...I'm assuming once I hit my 2.5GB of data, my speed is gonna drop about 95%:crying:
If it goes down to 2G...OH GAWD!! That could be pretty awful. After all, even 3G is only about 1/10th of the speed of 4G...I don't even wanna KNOW what 2G actual speed is!

HAHAHA it's not that bad. My little brother is on my plan and regularly goes over his allotment and still manages to survive. I stay on wifi at the house though so i've never gone over my 2.5.

yes sir, without issue. I change pretty much all the keys to perform different actions. i also changed the actions of long pressing the volume up and down buttons while the screen is off. long pressing my volume up button while my screen is off activates my dial pad and long pressing my volume down button while the screen is off activates gosms, don't recall if i used G3 Tweaks of Gravity box for the volume button settings. try both.
I referred you an app earlier but posted wrong one try this one. https://app.box.com/s/yfay09v9s59dahh6rf44

[Q] Remove Camera from LockScreen

Hi
Just got my G3 after updating from a Nexus 4.
Impressed so far and happily rooted the beast.
It's the lockscreen I am trying to get sorted. IS there any way of removing the swipe to camera option off the lockscreen? Had a bad experience previously and would just like the knock code. (Ideally would also like the emergency call option gone too)
Have searched but couldn't see anything.
Thanks guys

As far as lockscreen shortcuts - Go to Settings/General/Security/Lock Screen/Shortcuts - now tap the one you want to get rid of, then select Delete Shortcut
As far as the emergency call option - after some quick Googling some users are reporting and option to remove it with Gravitybox or G3 Tweakbox through XPosed, but others report it doesn't work

Thanks for the reply.
No shortcuts option come up for me in the lock screen tab. I am fully updated to the latest OS LRX21R and V20h
Never been a fan of Xposed for some reason. May try it and give it a go on the LG
Superb phone though. Pleased with it

Swipe Navigation

Hey all,
I've been using an app called Swipe Navigation and heavily recommend it. For those who don't know, it's a great way of saving space at the bottom of the screen and a great way of navigating through the phone and using custom actions, if you want them. Do check it out!
For those who are using it, is there any way to get rid of the "System UI has stopped working" message? It appears about twice a day so not a big deal, but still not ideal for a €750 phone.
Thanks!
Contact the developer of the app.
Done through Play Store. I was wondering if there's some app setting which may be causing the conflict.
I loved this App on my Nexus 6P. If i remember correctly, it worked best via Xposed. Hopefully we see Xposed for 7.1.1 sooner than later.

Sadly there's no way to permanently disable the stock navbar for now, there are apps that only hide it.
I found mod in this thread for NMF26Q which also works on NMF26O. This mod is the framework mod with zero dpi navbar. This works for me. I finally got rid of navbar without systemUI crashes.

How The Heck Can I Disable The On Screen Buttons?

I never thought that it would be this much of a pain to disable the sodding on screen buttons on the Pixel. This thing alone is making the otherwise excellent experience of it rather moot. I can't stand this thing.
I have tried the GMD Auto Hide soft keys app, but it doesn't work on 7.1.1. Then I tried the All In One Gesture app, it did hide the on screen buttons under some immersive modes but then there is no proper Pie like control in that app, making the point moot for me. Then I found LMT, which gives back Pie but no way to hide the on screen buttons. I have given up at this point.
So is there a way? Or do I have to wait until Xposed is released for 7.1.1 and then use the Gravity Box's Pie Control?
WETA ROM. You can choose no nav bar during install, and then use LMT.
^^^
Weta ROM, DU ROM.
GMD does work on 7.1.1. However, many GMD users like me abandoned it for one reason or another. One, the keyboard has to regain focus. Two, it doesn't work in some apps. Three, in some apps, it simply hides the nav buttons, but the bottom row blank, still wasting a row of space.
Thanks guys but I really want to stay with the stock ROM. I guess waiting is the only option now.

I'm in the same boat I want to get rid of the hideous soft keys. The build.prop suggestion from the Nexus line did not work ? some developer please help us!
The moment Xposed is available I'm gonna install the GravityBox and then use that Pie Control, which will make the soft keys go away for good. But till then no option it seems, or probably with the help of 2 apps.

I can see someone's reluctance. Let's say it only works "half-way", the nav buttons are removed, and he gets errors in an app. Without nav buttons, he can't get back to the home screen to revert his changes. That may be the main reason I activated "OK Google" so I can still run apps by voice when I play around with the nav bar.

Those error will remain after I install a Pie control app like LMT or something?
Just did the build.prop edit, it did the job fine of making the on screen keys disappear, LMT worked fine too, but there are just too many system FC messages! Not possible to use as it is.

Are the FC messages from disabling the nav bar or from the LMT. Sorry if I misunderstood you, I'm just trying to get clarity.

Have to be from the missing nav bar because apps look for interactions from those buttons. There has to be a graceful error trapping logic to handle the disappeared buttons. In other words, you can't simply yank them.

Nah for that missing nav bar or whatever the hell its called. Adding that line is the reason, not LMT I am sure. But you could try that and see whether the same is happening to as well or not.
I can't wait for Xposed to release for 7.1.1. I don't know whether burn in already happened or not, but mental burn in for me definitely happened in these short three days of usage, other than the fact its an incredibly stupid thing to have on a phone.

If you "can't take the chance of having a bootlooping phone", then you shouldn't be making ANY modifications to your phone. Even if you're using mods that are proven to work, what happens if you make a typo? You're taking the chance of having a bootlooping phone.

Don't agree with you about the latter part. I have been modifying stuffs on all phones I use, simple stuffs, installing this and that Xposed module, testing them, never once I had to face any boot looping issue, ever. Never did edit anything build.prop though.
Thanks for your concern though.

[Q] Gesture apps - Why home gesture dont work?

Hi to all!
I'm experiencing a really strange thing when try to set an HOME gesture with some of most famous apps for that purpose, like ALL IN ONE GESTURES, EDGE GESTURES and similar.
If I set recent apps and back gesture, they work in every way I set them...but if I try to set ANY KIND of gesture for returning to home... nothing happens.
The command work properly (I feel the haptic vibration, or alinz, that starts when a command is performed), but the gesture won't work in the end...
Anyone noticed that too? Maybe there's something I missed for make them work?
I use swipe up from bottom border and it works for me. I use aio.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
I didn't find the cause yet but it is also happening to me. If I reboot the phone the home gesture starts to work fine, it only breaks if I re-enabled the nav bar + disable immersive mode using their quick tiles provided by joneplustools and systemuituner. The easiest solution is to reboot the phone.
Well but are you rooted?
Because I can disable navbar but on home screen it'll be always there, so I can't use bottom gestures, only edge...

Without root the navbar always shows if you swipe from the bottom. You could try a 0px navbar by I think it doesn't work in OOS at the moment.

I already have the 0pt navbar and used successfully on S8 but with OnePlus it just don't works, I suppose because the navbar is named "drawable" in OnePlus internals while in APK it's "navbar", at least I've read it on multiple sources...

Yeah that must be the reason.
If you don't want to root right now your solution is to use a gesture app like edge gestures or swipe navigation because you can use gestures from the right/left edge so you activate the navbar less often.
It's not ideal but is has one advantage; for example when I want to close a game using the back button, the gesture sometimes is not recognized and I have to activate the navbar using the quick setting and that sometimes breaks the home gesture like we discussed yesterday so I have to reboot the phone sometimes. You only have to swipe from the bottom and it's all fine.

According to my experience this kind of problem is most likely caused by a third party app, possibly an xposed module or some half baked apk. Privately exchange a list of your installed apps, compare and concentrate on the more dubious apps you have in common and you may find your culprit there.

Yeah that's the main gripe. I suppose you are concerned about burn-in.
I don't know if stock OOS Oreo will fix that. Maybe some Dev can mod the navbar file as I was done with the old filetype as in the Galaxy S8.
I also can tell you that on LiquidRemix 8.0 ( it's on a Telegram group as is in testing stage ) you could hide the navbar completely without root but I understand that you don't want to change the rom and right now is has bugs so is better to stay in Oxygen.
Right now I'm using stock OOS 4.7.4 with root and to update is super easy, just download and flash the full zip, flash your kernel + magisk/superSu after and it's done.
I don't know if you care about Android Pay...

I can tell you that on a fresh installed OOS 4.7.4 without third party apps it doesn't work. The problem is that on Oxygen the navbar has another name in system so that mod doesn't work.
No I don't care about it because there's no need for it now, at least for me.
I've always rooted phones, no problems with that, it's just that I don't feel the need to do it with 5T since is nearly stock and good to run stock "as is"...
