Any way to upgrade rooted TWN H815 to MM? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Taiwan model H815, running Lollipop and rooted using the injection method. I was wondering whether there were any options for me to upgrade to MM and retain root?

Nope 'fraid not. I have the same problem. The only way to get rooted MM is with an unlocked bootloader which is not available for any non-European G4. I'm looking to sell mine and buy a Euro model specifically because of that problem.

[Q] Can I change from v10n-HKG to v??-EU

I've got a D855 which is currently running V10n-HKG-XX. I'm in the UK but bought the phone off of eBay so I guess it came from China. My question is; can I change my phone to think it's an EU phone? Say I flashed a stock firmware such as one of these would I then receive OTA updates as if I was an EU phone? Would this cause issues? If I did a full reset of my phone, would it go back to the HKG firmware?
I'm considering rooting and flashing a custom ROM. Does having the D855 HKG instead of the EU version make any difference to this process?
Thanks for any and all help with this!

Korean LG G4

Is this phone more or less an international device? It shows as LG-F500K in the about menu. Would like to unlock and root.
AFAIK international version is H815
any F500 is korean version
not sure about the unlock, but for root, you can't use the current H815 method
Thanks. I realize I should have posted here initially. Guess I'll need to check procedures to determine if the device is unlocked already. I was told by the salesperson at olleh that the device was unlocked for both sim and bootloader.

Convert a H815T to UK (euro version)

Can you convert a H815T (Hong Kong) version to a UK (Euro) version using the correct files when rooting? So if I use the International H815 10c Version files will this change it to Euro verions?
What do you mean by Euro version? What do you want to change? I don't think you can do what you want by flashing a different system image.
I think he's looking for root? Same as myself.

I'm not so sure.
But if you have the H815 you can root using the international files posted in the root thread.
Too many versions if the 815. I don't believe the 815t is rootable yet.

Yes it is.
Yeah I was asking if the H815T you could you use the H815 files and you can.
I could get the H815T cheap but found a selling the H815 for the same price so I don't need this anymore. Only if LG could stop making a million different variants and confusing people
But thanks for all your help guys.
I bought the H815T because of band 40 support, which Optus uses.
I used the international H815 10c image to root mine.
Optus are shipping the H815T, Telstra are shipping H815K (which is missing quite a few bands compared to the T). I have one of the Optus H815Ts. Im not prepared to flash a slightly mis-matching system.img and would much prefer to make my own. Ive not let the firmware update yet, and the download mode shell works. But the recovery block device isnt present preventing TWRP from being flashed in.
I dont think 'converting' a H815T to a euro would help with the unlock at all, because I think the key is not a flag but a hash (unconfirmed, the hex key gen thing could be a bluff) and the hash is generated after LG lookup your device ID. Even if you changed to the euro firmware, I think LG would still consider your device a 'T'.
I have been looking for a root method for the T version but it dosent appear possible yet.

This is correct. Were going to be waiting a while for a bootloader unlock. Telstra/ Optus certianly wont release one so were relying on someone to claim the bounty and figure out an exploit.
Just FYI if your looking for ROOT you can use the Low Effort Root and flash a euro version, but you wont be able to unlock the bootloader.
Also if you just want Marshmallow on your Telstra or Optus phone you dont need to unlock the bootloader, you can simply run LGUP and flash the 20b files to it. (you cant have Marshmallow and root as far as I'm aware)
Anyone in this thread have h815k original system.img file? or a rooted system.img file? Reason is I flashed the 10c version for root but now I want to run LGUP so I need to reflash to stock and I didnt backup (silly me).
Let me know thanks guys

So is it dangerous to go from 815K to 815T as radio bands are different? i changed from Telstra to Optus so wondering if I can do this...

USA H815, Help please

Hi! I bought a H815 version, foe a steal btw, "130$" Thinking that I could unlock the bootloader, but then doing more research only finding that the only way doing so is if I have a EU version.
So anyone know anyway I could trade or buy a EU or UK version for cheap so I could trade or it doesn't anyone know the status of the USA H815 bootloader status?
Also wtff why isn't the H815 version upgraded to marshmallow? This stock ROM is majorly broken .
tmobile one can be bootloader unlocked. h811.
I just did the same thing, got a h815 USA with locked bootloader.
Using LGUP I was able to flash version 20d MM and it is working fine.
You could try https://www.reddit.com/r/phoneswap/
I've got 20j MM running on my USA H815.
I updated with the .kdz file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/kdz-firmware-v20j-united-kingdom-2016-t3518925
I used the installers and software from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
Note that in the LGUP application, you need to click Update to select a .kdz file. You then need to exit and restart the program, then click refurbish to do a clean flash.
