Photos storage - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How much Google photos storage did u get with purchase of nexus 5x? Do u still get a 100 GB of photos and Google drive? Thanks

If you set your backup photo quality to "High quality" you get unlimited storage. If you set it to "Original" you get whatever space is available for your account's Google Drive. You do not get any extra Google Drive space for purchasing a Nexus 5X.

Unless you have a google drive promo from elsewhere, buying a nexus 5x does not give you any additional storage. The default is 15GB.
As another user said, If you set your backup photo quality to "High quality" using the google photos app, you get unlimited storage. Photos bigger than 15MP will be reduced in size.

instant upload full size

Hi All,
Been messing around with the Galaxy Nexus for a few days now and am more and more wanting to find a way to sync full resolution camera shots to the cloud automatically. I was thinking about just using dropbox + dropsync but the 2gb size limit wasnt too desirable for me.
NOW.. the newest version of the google+ app states in the release notes that instant upload now will do it in full resolution. I've tested it a dozen times and all photos are still being resized to the x2048 size.
Anyone have any luck with full sized photo syncing? I'd like to use the google+ app but non-full resolution isnt a viable backup option IMO.

[Q] Google+ Instant Upload Full Resolution

Any reason why the latest google+ release notes said full resolution image upload however instant upload photos are still compressed down to 2080x?
I really was excited to think that I could use the google+ app as a cloud based backup of my photos... looks like I will still rely on photocloud.
Thoughts?
I have wondered the same thing. Also, are previously backed up photos (with version 1 of google plus instant upload) are they re-uploaded in higher resolution? Or do I have to pull them off the instant upload folder and force it to re-sync?
when you download it form google + its the full pic

That is incorrect. I just used the "Download Full Size" in google+ and it gave me a file that was compressed and resized down to 2080x.
Pictures are automatically resized to 2048 pixels on their longest edge.

I am paying for 80GB of storage. Why are my images resized and reduced to lower quality?
Because they are crappy noisy smartphone pictures anyway? You can still manually upload the full res image to picasa if you are convinced that it is good enough to store it at 5 MP.
So I don't get to have a choice because you think my camera is crappy? Google wants me to buy storage. They should encourage me to upload full resolution photos. Thanks very little for your useless reply.
You still replied
Anyway, I know the camera is crap, I've got one in my pocket.
yeah it is. but still

Nexus 5x Photos and Google Photos Storage

so right now, i need to move my n5x photos from my computer to gdrive, but i don't have enough space on it anymore, so i've gotta use gphotos
it says that's your photos won't be compressed if it's under 16MP
N5x has a 12MP sensor, so can anyone confirm that any photo taken by the 5x camera will be uncompressed and won't count towards any storage space

Issues with Photos order - iPhone to OnePlus7T

Hello all,
I recently bought the OnePlus 7T and decided to switch from iPhone 7. I have over 25000 pictures and decided to transfer them with the help of SendAnyWhere App. All went well in terms of transfer but the photos lost their metadata - device name, geo tags etc. The pictures show in the proper chronological order in Gallery but when it comes to other apps such as Facebook, Instagram etc, the order of all pictures is jumbled. According to me it takes the date as the transferred data and since I transferred all pictures together, it shows all of them randomly with the same date.
How do I sort this out? I do not mind transferring the pictures again all over with proper meta data and other information.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Personally what I'd do is upload them to Google Photos from your iPhone, and then download them back on to your OnePlus 7T. That should retain all of the proper metadata.
