Microphone issues with smp600 --ROM or hardware related? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Been running Temasek ROMs for a while now. Just noticed lately that the mic no longer seems to be working. Could this at all be ROM related, or is more likely a disconnected mic? Anyone else have similar issues other than the one that I did find on this forum? BTW Is Temasek still working on these for the smp 60x's? IIRC there was a blurb that he quit. Sure hope not, I always appreciate his work that he does provide. ;-Deano

Hello.
I got some issues too, using skype the mic starts to blurring to the point it is unusable, but removing and re-inserting the p2 cable fix it for a while. I can't tell if it is related to the aosp/cm roms but after getting the Official debloated 5.1.1 roms it no longer happened to me in Both p600 and p601 roms.

I had the same problem on mine and it was ROM related, not hardware. Oddly, Temseks unofficial cm 12.1 build was the only lollipop ROM that the mic DID work on. When I first noticed the problem after updating to lollipop I flashed several different ROMs and found that the mic didn't seem to work on anything but Temseks unofficial 12.1 build. I usemy mic regularly so I stuck to Temseks build (which is otherwise a great ROM too). I recently updated to Temseks cm 13 build and my mic is still working perfectly. So I suggest trying a few different ROMs before condemning the mic itself. Perhaps try a kit kat based ROM like hyperdrive just to check functionality of the mic. My mic worked with that ROM as well.

[Q]m919 gs4 cm10.1 nightlies speakerphone mic

I am currently running cyanogenmod 10.1.2 nightlies on galaxy s4 m919 tmo.
Everything is running perfectly fine except for a slight phone lock delay on and off.
My major concern is the phone's mic will not work when it is in speakerphone. When it is in normal call, it has no problems whatsoever.
I have done countless searches and was unable to find a problem or a fix like mine. If anyone has any information on how to fix this, please help me. I have reflashed it to stock roms and it works completely fine.
I will give you any required information if needed.

[Q] Problem with 4.4 aokp rom

Hi, I'm new too this site, but do have a little experience flashing custom ROMs. I recently purchased a note ii from T-Mobile, and ended up flashing the AOKP 4.4 ROM, I believe it is under original android development. The majority of the ROM works perfect, but I'm having a problem with audio. Every time I use Google now, and have headphones plugged in, the audio will quit working for music after word and I have to reboot the phone to fix it. I'm not sure if anyone has experienced anything like this? Thanks for any help in advance!

Because that's a ROM specific issue, I suggest looking through the ROM's thread. A quick glance and the last few pages shows all kinds of audio issues.

[Q] CM 10.2 Incoming/ outgoing calls muted speaker issues

So I have a CM 10.2 on my T989 Hercules for a while, and since couple of days every time I pickup the call or try to call back I can't hear jack sh*t unless I reboot the phone. Is this something that can be fixed or should I be looking for a new ROM ? There is so many of them I'm getting confused :silly:
i have this issue as well, but i am using pa 4.6 beta 1. any fix to this?
same problem here on mine and my girlfriends phones (Hercules) on either CM10.2 or PA 4.6 beta. restarting didn't help for the CM but did on the PA rom. only thing is, I don't know whats causing it. my phone could ring and when I answer I hear nothing and they don't hear me and vice versa when I call out. yes, both were clean installs on both phones with double wipes before flash with either roms.
Same Issue!
I am actually getting the same exact issue, at times I cannot hear anything on either end and the only remedy is to reboot and it only fixes it for a little bit.
Anyone know anything about this?
I've no issue with PA 4.5 Beta 1 (most stable in my case) nor 4.4 Final. Ran into the same issue with 4.5 Beta 4 once tonight but I was playing with disabling google play services and install the new Hangout.
I am curious too...anybody have a working solution yet?
I feel I've run into this problem before on jb. I'm curious to know which BASEBAND in installed on your devices.
I think there is a newer radio (modem) needed for jellybean and odd sound/wifi/data issues arise if you're using an older radio.
I'm using UVMC6 on CM11.

I just flashed CM11 ROM from Sultanxda on my 2 T989's I have. One is having this issue the other is not. They were purchased at the same time. Not sure why this is happening. I have also had this issue on the previous CM10.2 version.
I have updated the Radio on the one that didn't work, but alas it still does not fix it. If the phone is rebooted, it magically works for a while.
I'm hoping that @Sultanxda will have a look at this issue.

getting phone replaced, unsure of what to run

I tried running cm12.1 before. That was fine until phone audio stopped working. Pretty sure its a software issue with the phone since wifi calling worked. I am not sure if I should try another ROM and if I do, which one. I am afraid to run cm12.1 after my audio issue with the last phone. Stability and reliability would be priority. I am disappointed this phone doesn't have stock lolipop. Any suggestions?
4 roms to try.

Vandamere,
There are a lot of great roms out there, but if I may be so bold, a really stable, battery friendly, lightweight, Bluetooth friendly rom is SlimLP, it is Slimroms 5.1.1, and is available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/development/rom-slimlp-jfltetmo-t3377731
The Marshmallow roms all have some issues with Bluetooth, but a feature rich rom that is very stable is AOKP MM, which is located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/development/rom-aokp-mm-t3391994
In either event, there really is no "wrong" choice, there are a lot of great roms out there, like @javelinanddart CyanogenMod 13 with the Cake kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...pment/rom-cyanogenmod-13-cake-kernel-t3390721
And an old favorite by @TJSteveMX, the RR:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ent/rom-resurrection-lollipop-v5-4-5-t3115155
I hope that helps! Have fun! Another thing you could do is read through the posts in the forums for the roms to see what features you like, and see what the general response is from the users who post there.
Like AlaskaLinuxUser said, the only ROM's that seem to have any issues are the 6.0.1 MM ones. That is only with the Bluetooth, from my own trouble scooting it seem the problem is when your Bluetooth device can answer calls and play music. If you are listening to music and get a call the phone will lock up and crash. There is a setting in the Team-OctO MM ROM I am running to disable one of the two under the Bluetooth setting. For example, my LG Tone's only play music, so when I get a call it just rings normal and I pick it up.. if I want. haha.

I mean sound works perfect I can listen to music and so on. but mic doesnt work I'm really fed up now I finally got it working and mic doesn't work arghhh.
Please can anyone help me and tell me what to do?
And I can't open the Hardware Test menu from Asus with typing this secret code in stock calculator, because I don't have stock calculator installed of course..
Zenfone 2 551ML (Z00DA)
Android 7.1.2
LineageOS 14.1-20170526-NIGHTLY-Z00A
LineageOS API level: Guava (7)
There are chances that it could be the hardware fault. As i haven't heard from anybody having the microphone problem due to this ROM and infact i am also on this ROM and my device is also ZenFone 2 (ASUS_Z00AD) but i dont have this problem. Either use some 3rd party hardware test app or downgrade to Stock (but that would be a hectic task) to check where is the problem.

As I already said it's NOT a hardware fault. The microphone works perfectly in stock rom I just tested it. Only in Cyanogenmod it doesn't work so it's a software issue... I'm really dissapointed I got the same device but it doesn't work why??

Okay buddy.. Dont be sad. It will work soon if its not the hardware. I think you should post this issue in the ZenFone 2 LineageOS forum also. Some expert can solve this.
