Is your wifi connection working properly - Sony Smartwatch 3

Is wifi working properly for you with 1.3?
I can be connected to my wifi, with a solid wifi wedge in my shade, but can't get cloud sync to work anymore. I always have the slash-cloud. I know the watch is connected to the internet, because wear browser works just fine.
Anyone else? It's done this on 2 watches, full factory reset, reinstall android wear app. Cloud sync is on.

Stand Alone Wi-Fi Problems

I have had this watch just about a week, after multiple resets, checking settings, I still cannot get the watch to connect to the internet via wi-fi without my phone. It will say it's connected to the network within the settings screen, but be unable to perform any tasks such as ok google commands, etc.
I just spoke to Huawei, and they said you cannot connect to the internet without your phone being paired via bluetooth. Is that correct?
yes, the wifi connection is only used to connect to your phone via the internet/wlan (cloudsync), but it can't do anything without it.

wifi

Hi
If I understand correctly the wifi will only work if the phone is close by
I read elsewhere that other smart watches will connect directly to wifi
even if the phone is not on
can someone please clarify & will this option come with future updates ?
Thanks
The phone needs to be only in a close range if you're connected by Bluetooth. If you're connected to a WiFi network, the phone just needs an internet connection and can be on the other side of the world.

Thanks Foo
But it doesn't seem to be the case with mine
If I am at home or at work it will connect easily with the Wifi but only if the phone is there
without the phone its saying disconnected , maybe I am missing something
I did a test recently with mine. I left my paired smartphone (Smartphone_A) far out of range of my watch (>100m within a company building). The watch signaled that it is disconnected as it was only connected by Bluetooth before. The smartphone itself was only connected to a 3G network (no WiFi active).
I used a second smartphone (Smartphone_B, obviously not paired with the watch) and activated the mobile hotspot on it. I connected the watch to the mobile hotspot using WiFi and was able to connect to my paired smartphone:
Code:
Watch<---WiFi<--->Smartphone_B<--------->3G mobile data<--------->Smartphone_A
<--------------------receive notifications-------------------------->
I was really surprised that this worked, but it did, so I'm pretty sure, that they do not have to be both connected to the same WiFi or be within a close range.
The question is, why is it not working for you. How do you check, that you are connected to the WiFi?

Strange
with my phone on no problems it shows my house & work network on the watch & connects showing the correct SSID
with phone off I tested it 2 ways 1 clicked on google app (disconnected ) 2 Settings- About -Connection (disconnected )
Brgds
I see the problem, I also may have misunderstood the actual problem.
The status (Google app/about) which you are referring to shows if you're connected to your watch. If your phone is off, the watch can't connect to the phone. Even if the watch is connected to your WiFi, the watch will not go directly to the internet, but will use the WiFi connection to connect to your phone (cloudsync).
You can check the WiFi connection in the WiFi setting. See if the watch was assigned an IP address, if there is one, then you're connected to the WiFi.
I think you expected that the watch can directly connect to the internet and use things like Google now directly. but this is not possible.

Yes
I checked a few things, my phone was on & the google app works, turn phone off & the google app says disconnected
in wifi settings even with phone off it says obtaining IP then connects so I thought it would connect to google app
so if I understand correctly it wont connect directly to internet but the phone (cloudsync) even if the phone is on or off
Thanks for taking the time to clarify

all seems a bit pointless to have a wifi connection but cant really use it do anything
maybe some apps or updates in the future that will utilize the wifi option ??
Thx
I guess wifi is just helpful if you get out of range of the Bluetooth connection.
At home I often get out of range of the Bluetooth connection so the watch connects to my wifi and reconnects to my watch via cloudsync as long as I stay out of Bluetooth range.
When the watch gets back in reach it connects via Bluetooth again, because this is much better for battery life.
So wifi is only there to increase range but unfortunately not for standalone functionality. I also have a Youtube client and a webbrowser on my watch (just for fun, not really useful). Both apps also need the watch and will not use a direct wifi connection to load videos/websites from the Internet.

Huawei wifi issues

Hi I recently purchased a Huawei watch and it's amazing so far. Though it might not have its all of its functionality with my iPhone 6 it's still pretty good and was decently priced. My issue with it so far is that my wifi connection seems to be interfered whenever I have my watch connected through Bluetooth. I have noticed this since my internet service returns when I turn off the Bluetooth. I have tried factory resetting it on multiple occasion. I even updated my phone and the watch through the wifi router. The phone itself shows that there's a connection but no internet service is actually going through the phone or watch. I've tried looking around but most issues seems to be Bluetooth dropping versus internet service. I hope this can help others that have the same issue.
I have same problem (( I dont know what to do. Is not possible to update my watch even surfing on the internet. Wifi signal is full, but no internet service. In settings is not available Wi-Fi settings. If bluetooth is turned off my internet service works good. (iPhone 6 - iOS 9.3.3, Huawei Watch 1.4 (6.0.1)) What can I do please?
That is by design! Wi-Fi only works when it loses the Bluetooth connection. See this: https://support.google.com/androidwear/answer/6207505?hl=en
i have this issues in wear 2

How to send accelerometer data from moto360 to the laptop via bluetooth?

I am trying to send the accelerometer data from my moto360 to laptop (or PC).
I know that it is OK to send data to smartphone via SDK, however, I have no idea how to send data to PC or laptop.
Anyone can help?
Thanks much
Seeing as the watch's bluetooth connection is tethered, so to speak, to the phone, I believe you would have develop an app that relays the data from the phone to the laptop. This can be achieved either via bluetooth connection from the phone or WiFi. In other words, you'd have to use the phone as a "middle man" for the data.
Just to clarify even further:
Watch ----Via BT ----> Phone ------Via BT or Wifi---------> laptop
The "easiest" way would be to send the data to the app and have the app send it further to a server. If you want it display it in "realtime" I'd recommend pushing the data in to a realtime database like Firebase or something similar, and then have a webapp on the laptop to display the data. It won't be in perfect "1 to 1" sync with the data from the watch, but as far I know, it's the only viable one. This would enable you to track the data even when your not in bluetooth range of the laptop.

Remote connection not working?

I seem to have trouble since today with the remote connection through lte or wifi to my phone since today. When I'm away from my phone it should switch to lte connection (which is working, verified it with samsung browser on the watch) and then say remotely connected. But it stays on standalone since today. Used to work perfectly for months... restarted both watch and phone but still not working. Also I can't activate 'reactivation lock' or set automatically backup on the watch. Seems to be a problem with samsung cloud service?
Anybody else with lte model experiencing trouble with the remote connection?
Yep, mine only works at the same time I've disabled battery optimization and removed automatic management of the "Samsung Accessory Services" app
That's all
