Nexus 5x Bluetooth marshmallow connection issues - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. Just wondered if anyone can help. I am having a problem with an app that connects a cycle computer (mio/magellan cyclo 505) and nexus 5x that provides texts and phone call notifications to the Cyclo 505 through a bluetooth connection. This seem to be occurring with other marshmallow nexus phones.
The developer has not as yet updated the companion app (cyclosmart) so that it is compatible with the marshamallow and as such it won't work at the moment. The phone app states when trying to pair with the 505 using the app that it 'Cannot detect your cyclo device' so it won't pair. I can pair using general BT settings outside of the app but the notifications don't work.
Previously I used the app with a sony xperia z3 running lollipop and it worked fine. The app and its purpose is relatively specialised but I wondered if there is anyway to get the notification back on the bike computer again. If you take a look at the following theread on the CycloGPS forum you will see that this issue has been going on for a while and it some have got it working with a htc m8 and nexus 7 running marshmallow.
I have contacted the developer and mio/magellan) and it not looking like it will get updated at the moment so wanted to try and find a fix myself I've tried many things but all without success.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Not an answer for you, but Garmin's fitness devices also have various BT and Wifi issues that are difficult to get working.

lol, thanks. Actually i was hoping an answer from anyone having problems.
I was having them quite often, figured out it was only when I had DSP manager or Awesome beats installed AND set to modify the bluetooth sound. Not sure if this is your case or not but thought I would chime in. To fix I just unchecked ALL options under bluetooth then unpaired. (Turn off BT go into BT on phone, unpair, turn BT on phone off, reboot phone) then I repaired and no more disconnects.

I've been having this problem with my Sony head unit and GN. It takes a couple tries for a2dp to connect and will randomly disconnect. Happened on ICS too.
Stock rooted.

I got lots of disconnections from my car audio system.
My heart rate monitor and nokia head set disconnects too much. Over 5 times in one hour.
My wife's GN also disconnects from her Kenwood head unit. Far less frequently than mine, but it happens. I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in on this issue. My dad just got his GN yesterday so I'll check his tonight to see if it too suffers from this problem.

at least i am not the only one with problems. Since i never tested bluetooth in stock ICS i thought it could be some hardware problem. But apparently other people have too ...
I had no such issues. I use it with a Plantronic 925 and a Gear4 BT stereo speaker, none if them working differently than they did on ICS.

I haven't had problems with Bluetooth audio. When I use Bluetooth File Transfer between my Xoom and Gnex, I can view my Xoom's file system from my GNex. When I try to view my Gnex file system, I get a an error message saying the Nexus does not support OBEX FTP, which it should. Not a big deal but it is a nuisance.

I am gonna test this !
i notice Bluetooth issues when connected to my motorcycle helmet.
using stock or other custom roms it will start to cut out or skip when i put the phone in my pocket and at highway speed it loses connection completely.
when using cm10 "official not the kangs" it has no issue whatsoever and the connection distance is improved 20x. i can have the phone 20 meters away and it still stays connected and even at highway speeds.

CM10 = Cyanogenmod Version 10. It is the first Jelly Bean Rom from Cyanogenmod. There are many threads on the topic but you can also find information on their site.
The official nightly releases of this version has just been released for the VZW and Sprint Galaxy Nexus as well as other devices.

[Q] Other devices cant bluetooth tether with galaxy nexus

HI all,
I have been successfully tethering my nexus 7 and galaxy nexus with no problem until very recently. I have used the bluetooth keep alive app on my nexus to solve the issue of dropping connections but as soon as I updated to 4.12 on my galaxy nexus (I was still tethering with 4.12 on my nexus 7 before my phone updated) I can no longer tether. Both devices are running stock android 4.12, I can pair the devices and send files in either direction. As soon as i attempt to connect to the galaxy nexus on my nexus 7 it briefly says connecting and then goes back to nothing.
I have tried this with and without the keep alive app installed, with it installed very briefly a notification comes up informing me the app is holding wake lock but then quickly disappears. I also cant seem to find any other instances of this on the internet.
If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
I have same issue with no idea how to fix after searching numerous forums and such.

GPE Questions

Torn between which version to purchase. I really like this device. I have been lurking this forum for awhile, so I apologize if I have missed the answers to these questions.
1. Will the google play edition allow writing to the SD card? Ive read mixed perspectives on this. Anywhere from dependant on apps to not at all. If it cant out of the box, is there a way to get around this? ie a specific App, Rooting, etc?
2. Will the QPair app in teh PLay Store work on GPE?
3. Same goes for MIracast? Is that functioning on GPE?
The LG version has a lot of intriguing features, but I do like a clean android experience as well.
Im looking to use this additionally to review shots from my DSLR.
Thanks for the help.
Hi,
Can't answer all of your questions but the 1st one about SD card writing is discussed in detail in the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575043
In summary yes it is possible but requires Root and a modification of the permission.xml file. Then using an App like FolderMount can move your large app data to the SD card. I have a GPE and it works fine but it is not an out of the box solution.
Questions 2 and 3 I have no comments as I have not tried but I heard QPair works on GPE, it it is in this forum somewhere if you look around.
Also Questions should normally go in the Question section.

Even IF the QPair app does not work, are you aware that you can do a password protected wi-fi hotspot with your Android phone out of the box and just connect through this as to any other wi-fi network?
Personally I fail to see the need for QPair as the wi-fi connections is stable and works just fine and besides would allow for even more devices connected if need be.
Anyways.. That's all I could say. Just wanted to throw it out there..

I suspect the appeal of QPair is the below:
Call notification : Call notification from your phone will appear on the tablet. You can check caller ID and send a decline message.
Message notification : Message notification from your phone will appear on the tablet. You can read the message and reply.

an excellent alternative is Tablet Talk. I've been using this for about 1 month now in conjunction with SMS Pro and I'm quite pleased with the results. I can send pictures etc. you can set it to automatically connect using either WiFi or Bluetooth.
Qpair works

I'm just guessing because I'm running Lollipop on my OnePlus One so I'm using the built in functionality (it's awesome), but make sure the Zenwatch Manager is approved as a device administrator. Settings, security, device administrators. If it already is you might try disabling and re-enabling it.
Having the same problem here. Went back into zenwatch manager (on phone) and there is no longer the option. It's like the feature went missing.
Nexus 5, 5.0.1
I figured that the built-in lollipop trusted devices would work better and have used only it. It seems to work fine with the zenwatch and other BT devices.
Mine stopped working too. We're you able to get it fixed?

[Q] Android Auto

Anyone figured out how to get the S6 to work with Android Auto? I have a Pioneer 4100 NEX and keep getting the same error message that several have reported. Phil over at Android Central has the same setup and to my knowledge hasn't found a workaround either. The head unit has the most recent firmware update which is supposed to address compatibility issues. I have tried using USB debugging and also using different launchers all with no effect.
Any ideas on things to try would be appreciated greatly.
Thanks!

Waiting for an answer on this as well. Same setup. I hate that it worked so well on my M8 and is unusable on the GS6.
It's somewhat OT but have you tried it with MirrorLink? The Note 4 was supposed to support ML but seems to be completely incompatible with any available head unit and I was wondering if the S6 is any better.
