(Important) Checking a new G4 for issues? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello everyone
I'll be buying a dual-sim G4 either today or tomorrow. The issue is that I'll only be given 7 days checking and replacement warranty which is worrisome since the product price is quite high. So, I'll need all your inputs on how can I best check the product for any issues so I may return/exchange it within the short warranty period. Also, since I'll be leaving for a job outside my country within 2-3 weeks, I need to make sure everything is in working order as I'll be at a place where there would be no repair shops etc.

please, can someone kindly help me with this...

You cannot check for issues while installing any app i believe. Yes, you can install heavy games and play them, use The phone as much as you can to check about it.
Do remember to check volume buttons properly, camera and OIS working fine or not, any kind of lag report it here. If its common, you are good to go

Check the multitouch test using antutu benchmark.
---------- Post added at 09:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:58 AM ----------
Go to 277634#*# dialer mode and go to lcd test under svc menu.
Then go to device test> MT> then it will boot into mini os where you will get plenty of tests available to test g4.

-got the cellfone yesterday, two issues till now. battery seems to be draining very fast + the screen gets hot.
-antutu score is 62164
-have already taken pictures and videos from it - camera result seems ok, any idea how can I check it extensively? not too sure how to use the manual function :S

Can you please elaborate? Were you on 4G or 3G? How many hours phone was used. What all things you did (heavy games or light games? too much calls? GPS settings? Wifi and 3G/4G usage). Apart from it, how was the cell reception? Low cell network reception leads to heavy battery drain. Also, I have noticed heavy battery drain on dual SIM.

hi... I noticed that when I use the camera app the phone heats up, so much that its hard to make a call with it. Games, well..haven't install any yet - not much into games but could you please recommend a few so I can check my phone... wifi was ON...
am not really sure how to check the phone extensively, only 2 days left of 7 days warranty...and I don't know what or how to check it since am also in too much pain because of root canal of my 7 teeth :crying:

take your money back and wait for g5 or other new generation phones.

was playing with the camera today, when using flash its dead-slow and the result is s***. even my nokia 808 is faster when used with flash.

[Q] Several Questions About This Phone...To Keep, Exchange, or Return...Please Help

Greetings,
I bought the GNex from Expansys USA the day it came out and I have had the phone for about 5 days now. There are several things that are making me questions whether or not to keep it, get an exchange, or return altogether. Please advise:
1. The main thing I am concerned with is the battery performance. I am a Noob, so I am not sure how to run all those fancy battery tests, but I can say that when I take the phone off the charger in the morning there is only about 30-40% left by the afternoon, and that is with moderate browsing, music, and a few calls and texts. I installed the Advanced Task Killer to try and save battery life. I am coming from an iPhone 4 (I was locked into it with a contract, bad purchase I know) and it seems that the battery life is way better on the iPhone. Is there a way to determine if my GNex battery or device has a genuine problem before I return this one and potentially get a worse one? Also, I read somewhere that with these batteries they get better over time, is that true?
2. Since I got a GNex from the very first batch sent to the USA, I am wondering if the newly resumed/shipped batches will have the volume fix installed? If so, is it worth me sending back the one I have now for a newly flashed one with the update? How can anyone tell if their device is updated anyway? I have Android Version 4.0.1, but isn't that what everyone has now?
3. The speaker volume is not that impressive, and I tried installing those volume booster apps to no avail. Is the speaker just not that powerful on this device?
Feel free to insult and/or flame me on my previous iPhone usage and also my lack of technical knowledge. I love the GNex because of it's amazing features on paper and all the available bandwidths I can choose from as I travel abroad frequently and this is one of the only penta-band phones I could find other than a few Nokias. But they don't run Andriod!

Android has "worse" battery life than iOS mostly because it has true multi-tasking and constant connectivity (unless in airplane mode). They generally do improve slightly, but anything 8 - 12 hrs. is pretty average, with "average" usage.

You will get an OTA (over-the-air update) sometime over the next 6 days. Most likely any replacement one you received you would still have to wait for the OTA anyways.

No, it is fairly underwhelming (Nexii always have been actually)
Thank for the quick reply s.m.knipe! Like I said I am new to this type of phone OS, so I appreciate the answers. I forgot to add another question before:
When I make a call, and I tap the icon for speaker phone, and then immediately try and tap the icon for the keypad numbers, there is a delay and the keypad numbers do not appear immediately. I guess I am saying there is a lag of sorts between pressing the speaker icon and the keypad icon to appear. However, this only seems to happen when the phone is taking a while to connect the call. When I tried doing the same thing in a better service area the icons switched back and forth seamlessly.
I really don't notice any defects on the phone at all in terms of build quality as opposed to others' here on this forum that have screen issues and cameras not being centered so that is why I am reluctant to send this one back for replacement if there is really no problem with the battery or speaker. Unfortunately I have no one to compare devices with as this phone is rare in the US. Anyway, I guess I'll be keeping this bad boy and use it as best I can!
Regards
Ok so I just retried making a call in this better reception area, and I still have the lag between the speaker icon and the keypad icon. Must be something else besides the reception?

1.) Battery is what it is. You might want to wait for undervolted or underclocked kernels or more battery concious roms to come out. There is one (Android Revolution HD) which the first post claims to have better battery life than the stock rom. Second, as pointed out by many members, task killers do not help the battery at all. (Cannot confirm this myself, speculation from different posts) If you wanted, you could post some screenshots about your battery life and screen time and see how it compares to other members with Galaxy Nexus'. Note: The iPhone 4 has lower battery consumption because its clocked significantly less than the Galaxy Nexus (Single core 800mhz i think) and the OS itself is heavily optimized for the phone. Plus, I would assume that the iPhone has less processes running in the background compared to the G-Nexus (could be wrong though)
2.) The volume fix is being rolled out via a software update, so it should automatically be sent to your phone whether its the first batch or the hundredth.
3.) For the speaker volume, you might try changing some settings in the equalizer? Not too sure about this, but many people have reported that the speakers are reasonable in terms of performance and if you seriously feel as though the performance of the speaker is that bad, you could try exchanging it, but I doubt any good would come out of it

Since it's a new phone try charging the battery fully and letting it discharge completely. After 3 to 5 times you should see improvement in your battery life. There is a thread on this that gives more info. Also a task killer is a bad idea and the thread covers this topic too.
I have a Nexus S and it's lasts me over 24 hours on a full charge with 3G and WIFI turned on.

The galaxy nexus also has a much larger screen than the iPhone which I think also plays a part in battery consumption
Thanks for the replies! Any link for the thread you mentioned? I tried a search and couldn't locate it...
the screen is, without a doubt, the most power hungry component in the phone.
Typically the battery display says 60% of the battery is being spent on the screen. Is this in line with other GNex users?
Oh, and has no one else noticed the lag I mentioned above in the on-screen display when pressing the speaker icon and then the keypad icon and then the long wait for the keypad coming up when making a call?
nope

Suggestions in buying this phone

Hello guys, I am really interested in buying this phone and I don't want to make a mistake, as this maybe will be my phone for the next 2-3 years, maybe more.I want to know your opinions, does this phone worth to buy? Does it have that annoying bloatware that slows the phone alot(I have a s3 now and I know what I am talking ) and in everyday usage does it work smooth, how is the multitasking and the battery in normal usage (fb, calls etc)?
Also I am between this and the LG G3, I can see a lot of negative thoughts about M8 camera quality,is this true?
Thanks in advance and hope we'll meet in this forum shortly
1) What bloatware the phone has, depends on what variant you buy. But I think the Euro version are pretty clean (at least compared to some of the bloat-ridden US versions). In any case, the phone is very smooth and fast. Some folks complain about lag on Lollipop (known issue on LP in general) but I don't see it. In any case, the phone is not plagued by OS lag like the Samsung GS5 and tablets.
2) Most folks that complain about the camera don't know anything about taking pictures, and are just looking at the MP number, not the actual image quality. M8 camera loses some detail in daylight. But probably only important if blowing up or cropping the photos. The camera excels most other smartphones (at least for its "generation") in low light. Which is particularly important if you take a lot of pics indoors.
There are some other opinion on the following thread, that includes one guy that is considering ditching the LG G3 for the M8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/wrong-t3069102

I get around 6-7 hours of screen on time with 4g/3g and 1 hour of gaming. I can't finish the battery in a day on normal use. I don't have the time. Refer to this post and thread for screen shots. I don't run with gps or location on when not needed or auto sync.
Most bloatware from carrier I could uninstall (I'm on vodafone, not sure about orange or telekom) and bloat from HTC (useful stuff but if don't need it is bloatware) like kid mode, dot view mode and such can't be uninstalled. Stock Sense is fast, the fastest I ever seen on android and the speakers will blow you away first time you hear them
Rooting and flashing roms is easy and you don't need S-OFF for that but make sure you do a nandroid on your stock so you can revert and take the otas when needed.

The above response from TempesZ is better than I can give on this; as I'll have to admit I'm personally not a heavy user on the phone most days (on work computer all day, than mostly use my tablet at home in the evenings). But with light usage, I can get up to 48 hours on a single charge. If my kid uses the phone to watch movies or play games for a couple hours, I can still easily make it through the day with some charge left by the time I put it on the charger before bed.

It looks to me like HTC tried to cheat on benchmarks (by turning off the thermal throttling) and it backfired! And most of the smartphone manufacturers do cheat on these.

How do you manage to get such good battery life? I get 5.5 hours of screen time at best. That may be due to me having horrible service in my area. Still running stock Lollipop.

Depends what you are doing with your phone. 7 hours I hit in wifi and without using chrome too much (read hours) and instead relying on things like tapatalk and apps and no games. I am using Maximus HD with stock kernel. I have good signal (always 100%) and brightness usually is low enough and at night is at 0. I can tell you brightness makes a massive difference. I don't use auto brightness but manual and never use gps and location unless I need it. For example if I browse XDA through the xda developers app I get around 11-12% per hour drain on wifi and around 15% on 4g. (check picture, 20 min screen, 4% drain)
Keeping wakelocks to a minimum helps a lot to conserve that extra juice for your screen time. I use my android tools to disable wakelocks and greenify on stuff like facebook. No auto sync either since that would be only my mail and I don't need sync for that.
If I game and have WiFi on I usually hit 6 hours with 1 hour of games or so and that's my average sot.
I don't use Google apps except Google newsstand that syncs only when I want to read it and Google play services which is mandatory. No Google+, no maps (I use waze), no gmail ( ok maybe I use inbox with no auto sync). In Google settings I disabled location history and of course I don't use Google now (another useless drain) though you might use it.
I don't use blinkfeed, I use nova launcher.
Oh and power saver kicks in at 15% and it helps for the last hour or more. It reduces your CPU from 2.3 to 1.2 ghz but I think it's worth the performance impact at that point. 5% is extreme saver time but I never let it go that low on purpose
Check Darth's thread for tips.

Don't feed the troll :good:
i was planning to buy the G4, so i looked at some reviews. GSMArena said that the battery life on the G4 is a downgrade from the G3.
The Endurance rating worked out to 54 hours, 9 hours less than the G3. The issue was with the high standby power draw, which puts a strain on the battery even when you're not using the phone. The other disappointment was the talk time, which couldn't reach 17 hours - an 8 hour drop from the G3.
We reran the tests several times and kept getting the same results.
Anyway, the web browsing time was pretty good - nothing spectacular, but good. It also marks the only improvement since the G3 as the video playback is below average for the flagship class.

ok. where does it make a direct comparison to the G3. the video is kind of hard to follow. Unless he has both phones in the same video and do a same battery test, you can't really compare the g4 to g3 with this video. the OP just has to decide which source he deems more reliable.

yes because this is a difficult subject so keep a note when he talks of the sot's under different conditions.
Had to watch it a couple of times but i got it in the end. See the comments too.
What is your expectation of sot/runtime ? How much do you get with your curent device ? what is your current device.
There is no difference between G3 and G4 for battery life max i can get 4 and half hours for battery life and minimum only almost 3 hours SOT. Maybe if next LG device is like this battery life i need to change to another brand
Yeah my experience in two days....Touchscreen issues untill i updated to V10C which fixes the touchscreen issue but decreases battery life to the extent where u can literally notice it drop before your eyes. The power saving used to work fine before v10c now even tho i turn it on immediately it wont kick in untill battery reaches 15% ( u will know when its on because the statusbar will change its color to red)...... And yes the back buttons are loose and feel wobbly. There is a pink shade in my front camera when there is sunlight in the background....ummm what else......i am damn sure even the cheap chinese phones coming out will be better than this piece of junk. I shud never have bought it

Dont expect anything crash hot from the battery performance. It is nothing like what i expected. If you want good battery life go with samsung s6 or even better the sony xperia phones. Xperia has best battery life. So G4 wont do you any good with battery life

Those phones have other issues. So you trade one set of pros for another set of cons
There is no perfect device. You learn to manage what you got.
So G4 wont do you any good with battery life

3h sot, lots of complaining, 4h+Sot less complaining or it goes silent. Seen this a few times now. That is what surprised me. Until you realise that people find 8h run time too short but once it gets into 12-14h+ its ok. Its the standby time that is more important.

I currently have the nexus 4 and i think the most screen on-time i can get before my phone dies is 3 hours, but usually it's in the low to mid 2 hour range before i have to run to the charger. But the phone never last more than like 12 hour of usage (or a 8 hour workshift+ work traffic) as i constantly surf the web, music, and always checking my phone.
I want something like xperia z3 compact or note 4 battery life, but those phones have some things i don't really like. With the G4, i do plan on buying those high capacity battery (like mugen, hyperion, etc..) if the phone does fall below my expectation.

Mostly wifi ? or is there also same amount of data ? how strong or not that cell data signal is and for how long you are on it will take a toll with any phone.

How bright do you like your screen. if you can manage with less brightness ie 30-50% you can add an hour of sot.
for reference, 3-4h SOT on data and 4-5h sot on wifi only with 65-70 brightness. mixed use means somewhere in between, 4h sot. high brightness means low to mid 3h, less brightness 4-5h.
sot/run times you can expect 3h /9h, 4h/12h, 5h/14+h is normal with stock.
Are these figures you can live with ? xperias & note 4 will give you an extra hour sot on top. that extra hour means 2-4h longer run time.
you dont need to carry those bulky batteries unless your phone absolutely needs to be on, just swap the battery out in a couple of minutes.. Not hot swap, have to power down.
How important is bootloader unlock and roms for you ? some people are forced to stick with original and forego firmware updates to preserve bootloader unlock. this means if any improvements are made in subsequent updates they can't use them and are stuck with whatever bugs are there in the older firmware. Stuck with bugs and waiting for roms can be frustrating.
For some one used to nexus 4 being able to flash anything and everything, G4 might seem a bit boring for you, Nexus 5x ? you dont care for replaceable battery or sd card. just get the biggest onboard memory possible

Yep all wifi, don't have a data plan . wifi signal varies to maximum signal to no signal at all lol. But i do turn on airplane mode when i'm on the train for example. My brightness is set to adaptive brightnes on @ 50%ish
I'm actually avoiding the nexus line in the future lol since i really want sd card slot and removable battery (and good/excellent battery life), usb OTG (particularly usb audio out), and a device that can officially unlock bootloader like the g4 H815. and to be honest, stock android ui is sometimes boring and it never has features u see on like xperia, htc, or samsung devices. And I can just do all my flashing needs on my Nexus 4 when the habit kicks in lol. Overall, on my next phone, i just want options and upgrade/replacement possibility

Then you can expect a 4-5h sot/12-14h run time with normal use. Good enough ?
web browsing won't eat up much battery, its push notifications and constant syncs over weak signal that do it faster.
IMO the g3 was garbage...i had 2 that had emmc failures and all 3 i had overheating issues...battery sucked...only pro was there was a good bit of development...i love my g4...only device i miss over my g4 is my g2...battery life is great with minimal tweaks and greenify...my last run was 5 h 2m sot and 47.5 standby...h81110n

What's the effect of Second Space on battery life?

For those of you who use Second Space. I want to use it plain as my guest mode with nothing really running in parallel. What will it do to the stellar battery life I'm enjoying now?
second space has the same battary and speed impact as using fdu encryption in android, if you already have your android encrypted the battary and performance impact will be the same
I have used second space for about 3 weeks and for me there was a significant impact on battery life. Without second space.. I can last a full day with moderate usage. With second space running and switching back and forth, my phone is usually out of juice at around 3-4pm, having started my day at 8am
I have used 2nd space for almost two years and never ran out of battery in a day. I charged around 11:30 pm and usually had about 32-60% remaining. Heavy GPS use could get me to about 20%. My usage is non-standard however. I use an ancient Blackberry 8100 for voice and text. I used data-only sims in the note 3 (snapdragon), no voice calls.

You've mentioned a Blackberry and a Note 3. So what do you use the Mix2 for? Do you own a Mix2?
Oh, "Mi" bad. I missed that the question was for a specific phone. I made the assumption, unwarranted, that all Xiaomi phones would reflect similar behavior from running 2nd space. I also own a Mi 5s, but it eats battery so fast while doing little or nothing that I don't even take it out of the house. It has 2nd space active, but it was a poor performer before 2nd space. I think it is because of the Snapdragon 821. It's a sportscar that just can't slow down.

Your comment got me interested in digging a little further. The biggest battery drain was Chrome, even when I force quit Chrome and reboot. I finally can't uninstall it, but I did install Firefox and finally, I do not see Chrome taking huge amounts of power. I also turned on MIUI optimization, although it is hard to say from various postings if this is good or bad. Regardless, the battery is crying for a charge again already. I'm next going to load a CPU program to limit the top speed of the processors and see what effect that has. This is a great phone...if you keep it plugged in.

Your battery problem lies elsewhere and it's not the soc. The Mi 5s has very good battery life. Take a look at your setup and what apps you're running. By default miui kills all non-system apps. I suspect you have installed something that's misbehaving.

Many people have reported symptoms identical to mine: very hot operating temperatures, very short battery life. Others have tried various MIUI versions, various non-stock ROM configurations, various power and app configurations, all to no avail. Very interestingly, two people have asserted the problem is the process running the fingerprint reader. One reported that the heat and battery problems ceased when the qualcomm biometric service was halted (not sure how that was accomplished). As for installation of misbehaving apps, this phone was this way out of the box. I literally do not use it for anything beyond running the Xiaomi vacuum, which in contrast to this phone sucks positively, and an ebay app. I stopped using Chrome a few days ago, because it showed high idle use, but still the battery life is very short. I have a Redmi Note 4 here which is at 48% battery as I write this. It was last charged on the 2nd of June. It has been sitting idle with only periodic use. During the same time period, the Mi5s has required many full charges.

Following on to my post above, which I should have included below your post, I dug up more information from xiaomi.eu and the miui forum by searching "qfp service battery drain" in google. One comment:" It's a well known fact that starting from 8.2 (on Mi5S) the qfp-service is preventing deep sleep and causing battery drain." But another posting disputes the version-related association: " I have a problem with my Mi5S with Xiaomi.eu 7.1.20 ROM. After few days of usage I noted a strange battery drain, especially when the phone is in idle. Looking for the reason of this drain I found that qfp-service (fingerprint sensor) is doing hundreds of wakelocks." Another interesting avenue of investigation: "A couple of friends with Chinese Dev ROM say that they haven't any problem with qfp-service and battery is awesome. I think the problem is with Xiaomi.eu ROM" The apparent best solution is this one: "new update now with a "final" solution. i just uninstalled the qualcomm qti biometrics fingerprint service completely with a root uninstaller. the cpu wakelocks stopped immediately, fingerprint sensor is still working fine."

Thanks for the clarifications. First, I'm not a fan of custom roms as they tend to introduce more problems than they supposedly" solve", all for the sake of stock android.
I recall that when I first got my Redmi Note 3 Pro there was a wakelock or battery drain that puzzled me too. After doing some research I learned that there's a system app called xxxx. qualcomm.xxx (I can't remember the name exactly) that was causing it and could be disabled. Once I did that I was good to go.
My Note 3 came with a vendor rom and no matter how good a rom might be, it can never match the optimizations of the original. It's very possible that your phone came with a vendor rom as they were fond of selling them that way in order for gapps to work out of the box. My suggestion would be to put the latest original Miui9 on your phone and work from there. Personally I see no reason for custom roms because miui gives the user so much control over their phone anyway.

That's a good point. The Mi5s has the latest over the air from Xiaomi, but maybe it's from the vendor? Never had any problem with the other three Xiaomi phones I have owned. I do like specialized roms a lot, but I like Second Space more. That's the only reason I have not put alternate builds, especially Revolution Remix, on the phones I've owned. I'm glad you have prompted me to look into the root cause (no pun intended) of this issue. Since removing the fingerprint password and not touching the fingerprint reader, the phone's power use after rebooting has gone way, way, way, WAY down. Maybe. I'm looking at 228mah current drain, which is nothing. I'm going to take the phone out on a walk today and see how it does. If It is "fixed", then I will look at rooting it just to get rid of the Qualcomm module so that I can use the fingerprint reader without draining the battery. I really do not want to unlock the bootloader, but it seems there is no choice in order to get root.

S20 Exynos - Very poor battery <3hrs SOT

Hey there
Purchased a new S20 Exynos 3 weeks ago. Since then battery life has been awful... even below what users report on the forum (4-6 hours SOT ranges).
I barely get 3.5 hours at best with minimal usage in a day: whatsapp, calls, emails, social media - NO gaming, gps, video calls...
This has been the same under OneUI 2.5 or now 3.0 for the past week
I have tried everything:
debloated a lot of stuff
wiped the phone with factory reset, did not restore with smart switch
60hz only, dark mode
location off, all device or wifi scanning features off
lots of apps in sleep and deep sleep lists
took the phone to samsung service to verify battery was functioning normally
I'm sharing screenshots of GSAM and BBS - please help me understand what is going on, i'm not able to make sense of the stats
I really want to love this new phone.... but 3hrs a day for a work phone + samsung service being a complete waste of time is not helping me...
Many, many thanks for your help
Why is it showing LTE2?
Maybe put your sim in slot 1?
Are you in a poor reception area? Your phone signals are good but still can't be trusted.
I have 2 sim cards in the phone. The one I'm using now is in slot 2
I even switched off sim 1 in sim cards manager because it was draining battery. I need to switch it back on anytime I want to receive SMS or call
Yet another feature that made me buy the phone and I end up deactivating....
Any other idea where I should deep dive? Do you see any app draining the battery or weird wakelock?
I need to get at least 6hrs SOT on basic usage

That's poor SOT even for a Exynos device. Based on the info you've shared it would seem your phone is defective. If it was purchased locally you should ask the seller to exchange it. If a full factory reset doesn't help I don't know of any other settings or modifications you haven't already tried.
At this point I can only suggest you to try using only single sim via slot 1 and observe the difference.
Also can you post gsam signal graph like mine.View attachment 5155689
My device is S20+ on 3.0
60HZ, WQHD enabled and I'm getting 10H SOT.
Thanks guys for your help. Really appreciate it
Samsung doesn't want to replace the device. They have tested it for 24 hours in idle and told me the standby battery drain is normal.
This is insane. I've never seen so poor customer service, I miss apple so bad...
I've switched my sim to slot 1, that's a bummer since I'll need to play around with sims every time I travel...
My reception should be good as well.
Guys do you have by any chance a contact at Samsung top management to share in DM?
I'm dealing with India customer service this is appaling.... [email protected] supposed to be case manager what a joke
I've been fighting with them for 3 weeks it is driving me insane.
I'm talking to a lawyer today to open a law suit, probably a class action law suit, against Samsung advertising high performance but selling poor quality handsets equiped with Exynos chipset

No doubt you're level of frustration is rightfully extreme but I'm pretty sure pursuing a class action lawsuit to remedy the issue isn't your best option. I'm not an attorney but have years of experience as a lawfirm administrator. Not too many attorneys are capable enough or willing to invest the required time, resources and money to initiate that action. Having your attorney contact Samsung in writing may be the best option if he/she will do so at a reasonable cost.
Yes that's actually the plan
Given Samsung's commitment to customer satisfaction I doubt anything will come out of it
Will take further actions when necessary
In the meantime if anybody still have ideas on how to investigate further / solve the issue with my phone (assuming it's not hardware issue and Samsung hiding it from me).... happy to look into it
Latest developments:
Samsung "top" customer support team has arrange a pick up to take the phone to service again tomorrow
If they tell me everything is fine again i'm gonna lose my **** - nothing is fine with a 3 hours battery life phone that cost me $700

How the havk you achieved that???
Are we talking exynos or snapdragon?
i've never seen anything like samsung customer support in my life
5 hours on the phone with them in 2 days, 2 back and forths to service center...
They are still telling me that 3 hours screen on time is perfectly normal on my handset and refuse any refund or replacement
"we have done 1 hour of youtube and the battery dropped by 35% because youtube is hardcore. See that's good"
wait... what?
plus i've never opened youtube on my phone what's this test about
Pure insanity
I'm going ahead with opening a class action law suit. DM if interested in joining
it will be shared on social media as well and widely online

Maybe bcoz of indoor usage. Brightness is 40-45%

Well, Indians voted with wallet.
Due to poor sales in India, S20+ came down to 700$, bcoz of ezorbitant prices on top of selling Ecynos crap.
I have an Exynos S20 and have been having similar battery life issues since FW BTIB and BTJ3, I think I have finally tracked it down to some weird 5GHz Wi-Fi problem with FWs after the August update.
Someone mentioned putting the phone on Airplane overnight which I've never done, so I did after fully charging it and I was thrilled to see the battery dropped by only a few % in 10hrs which was great. In the morning I switched Airplane off back at my desk which is close to the WAP and the battery life seemed really good.
After a week or so of checking with Airplane On/Off and switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, I suspect that if the 5GHz signal isn't strong enough the phone is trying very hard to maintain the connection. Looking at your battery stats it shows Wi-Fi 86% battery so this could indicate a similar issue.
Switching to 2.4GHz seems to have greatly helped my battery life. Right now the battery has dropped 38% in 42h13m, with 42m of calls and 21m of SOT. Accubattery still thinks my full charge SOT is 2h30m but that's calculated on 10 sessions and I'm hoping that it might improve over the next few weeks. Still, it's far short of what Accubattery reported about a month after buying the phone (over 10hrs).
If I desperately need 5GHz speed I can just manually switch it, do the uploads, then switch it back to 2.4GHz.
I've sold the S20 and going back to iphone or pixel
worst phone i've ever had in hands
Legal action against Samsung is ongoing - their customer service has been appaling, including talking to their top management in India through my lawyer.
All in all a very bad phone, poor company, 0% customer centricity
