The sony xperia app? It sucks

From finder i was not able to access any files on phone, only through sony companion app

You can always use Android File Transfer

http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/

You can use pushbullet's new app called portal fast wifi transfer(depending on your modem or lan speed)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pushbullet.android.portal

How to transfer data between the One x and Asus Transformer Prime?

This is probarly a stupid question, but how do i transfer data like apps and pics between my 2 units?. The bluetooth connection fails on both. The dont find eachother.
Thanks in advance
"Wi-Fi Direct"? Never tried it but it sounds like it'll work
Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > more then switch wifi direct on
Apps - download them from the Play Store
App data - can't be done
Photos - Copy to PC, then to 2nd device
Did you make each device discoverable?
Try transfering files via PC?
I use Dropbox as a way of sharing files between my One X and my Prime. Works pretty well for the most part.
Could use Google Drive I suppose...not tried it yet myself

drop box would be better then get dropsync to copy the files from could to your device so no need to download them one by one.

Thanks i tryed that it works good
I recommend Foldersync, it can handle multiple cloud a/c and can customize sync behavior(one way or 2-way sync) for each folder.

es file explorer? copy the files from device 1 to pc, copy the files from pc to device 2
just need a shared folder and wifi
or use the datacable and mount both devices as disk drives
works best if you're moving gb amount of data, otherwise dropbox

That depends on the app. Plenty of apps offer the ability to export / import app data, and you can easily transfer via Bluetooth. (Don't have the Prime, but bluetooth connection and even internet sharing works between my phone and TF101.)

Mounting SDcard on OSX

With windows, you can mount the SD card and transfer files to it normally. On OS x, we have to use the htc sync manager. Is there anyway to mount the SD card without it?

The HTC Sync is horribly slow. I took the SD card out, put it in the adapter, and popped it in my MBP. It worked flawlessly.

Yeah I didn't even bother it's useless. I want to drag and drop the files myself. Taking the sd card out is an option but it's a hassle since you need a pin all the time. I'm trying some apps in the play store but no luck so far. Kind of dumb how they're forcing htc sync on us
You will need ROOT and app called "DriveDroid"
Download Android File Manager - http://www.android.com/filetransfer/
Open DriveDroid app, give it root access and under its settings, change USB or Permanent USB mode to "Mass Storage Android Debugging"
Connect to OSX and open the Android File Manager app on OSX... next time you wont need to open it manually, it will open everytime you connect the phone.
This might break connection to HTC Sync though
(I use the above for my iMac)

Do you have to reboot your Mac every time you want to mount the Android device? I am having issues getting the device to mount to an already running OSX computer.
What I don't get is why we need extra software. My old htc one s mounts the sd card just fine with no extra software

The solution is uninstall HTC Sync Manager and using DriveDroid change to Manually change permanent Mode to MTP.
Is there a way though to force the internal storage and SD card to be directly mounted onto OSX, rather than having to use another 3rd party app (android file transfer)?

Its not 3rd party ... its from Google
And the answer is no to your question, unless you run a SMB server on the phone over your wifi network, then your phone will popup in Finder as a network device. I have tried 3rd party phone apps that do this but the connection is unreliable and transfer speed slow.

Hm, too bad. Guess I'll have to wait and see if anyone builds this functionality!

How? I get an error msg whenever I try.
*edit* more specifically "network error" uploading to the internal sd card works fine

In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54035979 I may provide a partial solution; depending on your exact need. Look for the post I sent a few minutes ago. More to come in the next days; I will test other apps, and report.
Does this allow bootable drives?

[Q] Answering machine

Hello everyone
have a Sony Xperia Z1 compact with KitKat 4.4.2
with this rom Sony give us a Answering machine - thats grate , BUT
where this machine store "welcome" message and recorded calls ?
fucceeded tedeleg
so? no one knows what it is?
i mean that is, where the FILES store . i need to backup records :cyclops:
Apparently on the /data partition, same as SMS messages and contacts etc, so you'll need root to explore/backup, or use Sony's backup (I guess).

Install PC Companion and use its backup feature for desktop, or use Sony's Backup application that came pre-installed on your phone (search App drawer). I haven't tested either with answerphone messages yet.
How I back up the answering machine...
I finally have it all worked out.
On My C4 (E5333) the messages can be found in the protected folder /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/app_voicemail-data
To be able to access these messages, you’ll need to root your device. I used “King Root” to do this since it can be done entirely from the phone, but your handset might differ.
To back up these files I just use “FolderSync Lite” from the Play Store. It supports root permissions. I sync these to my Google Drive. (I sync one way only.)
To play these files on Windows you need to rename them by adding the .amr extension. They seem to play OK in Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player.
A simple batch file can do this: ren *. *.amr
To Sync these messages to another handset, I use “DriveSync” although FolderSync Lite could have done it too. Then, on that handset I have an ES File Explorer shortcut widget to the Answering Machine folder, along with another “DriveSync Sync Now” widget. VLC Media Player on Android can play these files, even if you don’t add the extension.

Changing App icons

Hello I am wondering how to change an existing apps icon . I’ve tried using apps directly from play store , they don’t work properly . Once app is on phone , do i send app to SD card , send to pc in an emulator , modify .apk file on pc, send it back to phone ? If so , how can I properly sign the app so phone will recognize it after .apk has been decrypted and modified ? Is there any easier way to achieve this ? Is there some way to access mobile phone with some kind of interface from pc and have phone appear as a hard drive where I can drag and drop from phone to pc ? Please help! I’m new to this

I also want to know how to transfer games data between mobile phones. Phone Transfer tools like Coolmuster Mobile Transfer can help us transfer app between mobile phones, but the game data can not be transferred.
You can try Helium app, it can save app with its data using adb permissions (you will need usb connecton to pc, not sure about mac). I guess you could just copy saved files to another phone and restore them.
