So here it is my full review of the xiaomi redmi 3, feel free to ask any questions on the comments!

Thanks for the review. These chinese phones are becoming good low cost competitors with their direct from factory mentality. It's been hard to find good info. With the dropping of contracts on the carriers I'll be shopping more stuff for the next upgrade!

Nice to see companies reaching out to XDA members for help
I already have the OnePlus 2, more than 10 posts, at least 5 thanks, and I've been a member for more than a year. An active one, but not quite the kind that writes a lot but the one who helps test things and such. The only requirement I don't meet is residing in the U.S. (I reside in Spain). Maybe if you don't have enough testers... You could make an exception? I'm always glad to help!
Also when I've been looking for a good tempered glass protector and was between yours and one from another company. I just saw this post and it would be awesome to test and keep it!
Hi iVoler team! I just placed my order for the OnePlus Two and hope to be receiving the phone shortly. I fit all the other criterias and I'd love to test out your tempered glass and provide feed back .
pm'd
pm'ed you
I would like to try the product. Thanks!
I will review it!

Kernel Source Code for Xiaomi Mi5s Released

Dear Xiaomi,
I'm sure there are a lot of buyers (like me) of your latest flagship phone Xiaomi Mi5s who bought this phone hoping that you will release the source code very soon after its market introduction and thus make use of numerous custom firmware out there.
Hence our humble request: Please release the kernel source code for Xiaomi Mi5s asap.
Thanks
Edit 1 (27.04.2017):
After 7 months of waiting, the kernel source code for Xiaomi Mi5s has been released. Finally!
https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/scorpio-m-oss
See also the MIUI Xiaomi Mi5s Forum.
http://en.miui.com/thread-407935-1-1.html
best regards
This post does not belong in this section.
Also I doubt anyone from Xiaomi would read this post.
Even if they did, they already know we on XDA would like the source code released - the same as every other phone released!
Answer from the supermoderator of en.miui.com:
"hi dear all
please be patience.
when it is release, word will spread.
however, no exact date is known at this point of time, SO
please please stay tuned in forum for more news & announcements.
cheers"

And I suggest you not to read that forums comment section. They post something and there is only thank you and praise for the OP. Fair to say it's cancerous
Need to start getting to the governments of countries involved to block importing/sale of ANY products that use GPL based software that they dont release source code for that the license says they must. I guess unfortunately enforcing GPL doesnt have the backing of multi billion dollar movie studios like pirating one movie might bring...
Basically their stealing other peoples work and making a profit by selling it without following the law of releasing their modifications of the source.
If the product is sold then source must be available otherwise the law is being broken, stop them selling their products outside of China and then they might give a toss about releasing kernel source, their stealing the work of thousands of developers and not abiding by the license that the source was released under.
Looks like Mi5S support will be abandoned shortly as their releasing the Mi6, looks like we got a lemon of a phone, time to chuck all Mi5S's into the kitchen grinder and destroy them

Well, if they can not handle it like Oneplus did it months ago, they could release sources to let us do better than they can.
Please don't protect xiaomi developers. Their updates are a joke, at least when hardware bugs still subsist like fingerprint scanner. It's funny to see that an XDA developer fixed it with LineageOS even without source code. They are amateurs on their jobs, that is guaranteed. They don't understand that an hardware is as good as it's software permits.
It's also important to note that they released nougat not only for ancient devices but also for more recent devices than mi 5s which is an insult. In fact i believe nougat comes to mi6 sooner than mi 5s, releasing mi6 with MM is ridiculous anyway.
With mi6 they change this device to the past, with software from the past and without kernel sources, future proof hardware bugs.
So yes, even if they release sources or Nougat tomorrow i would be still disappointed. It's my right to feel as so and to share it in a proper manner.

I am disappointed too. But every day I see at least one man who say that "Xiaomi tricked us, no support for global, this phone is ****, throw it away". I don't see posts like this on 4pda, but usually russian community raging first.
I don't feel tricked, because i expected Xiaomi dominant position. But a dominant position makes sense when there is no problem whatsoever, or they managed to rapidly correct problems, or when a software is proprietary. None of this happened. They don't fix it and don't let us try to do better. This model suffer from hardware inconsistency with some camera and screen manufacture, this should be sufficient to provide some after sale care at least at software domain. I still wait for the best, but what i could assure at this time is that i regret this acquisition against Oneplus 3T. I question myself if they acknowledge that Oneplus is their natural competitors and that they are gaining the game with simple actions. First CPU with normal clock (170k vs 152k max at antutu), then battery friendly oled, then a working fingerprint scanner without battery drain, consistent hardware sources against multisourced modules, open source since day one, frequent usefull updates, and fast upgrade to last Android. For me is night and day. Say nothing isn't an option because i would not protect my product, neither potential buyers, or Xiaomi option to make things right.

I agree with you for the most part, but not for comparing Xiaomi's Mi5s with Oneplus 3T. I paid less than $300 for my Mi5s 4/32, Oneplus 3T costs at least $420. I don't say it doesn't worth the money, I'm sure it does (OLED, 6gb RAM, etc...), I'm just saying it's not the same price range...

If Mi 5s had 6GB ram, Gorilla Glass 4 and OLED etc... It'll will cost as much as 3T
Let's not split hairs, let us all just hope Xiaomi releases the kernel sources for Mi5s along with Mi6 or by the end of April.

Also in that case a more fair comparison would be between Oneplus 3T and Mi5s 4/128 that cost me 379€.
Since the mi6 was released today...should we expect to receive access to the kernel's source code today? Any news in this regard?
We need official nougat global dev rom ASAP.
I guess at this point it may be a good idea to write to http://gpl-violations.org for an advice and help
Xiaomi already know you want the source code - it is the same with EVERY other phone! They will release it when they are ready to.
Making complaints on this non-Xiaomi forum / starting petitions will not make any difference. They will not read them.

Honor Fan Meet

Intro:
Fan Meet is Something new organized by Honor in order to Collect opinions, feature requests and Bug reports from honor Users where other OEMs failed to do so.
I would like to share my experience how the meet had gone through.
About:
The meet was planned and set to start around 6:30 pm considering the availability of all the users who ever filled up the Google form. At 6:30 like regular we introduced ourselves to the Honor R&D team and later around 6:45 we had gone into discussions regarding the opinions on Emui 5. Surprisingly, Honor at first asked the Cons and what everyone Dint like in EMUI. Most OEMS just boast what they give and limit the users to use the same. But when it comes to Honor they asked the cons first. Mostly i heard about battery improvements and Ram Management. As they just gave a word, Promisingly (of course they surprised me and all) Honor 8 Pro users by pushing B150 ota which improves battery backup, Thermal optimizations and other bugs. That is soo quick and i dint expected such a quick response and This is completely Unexpected. And when gone through the second and foremost thing, they asked us what we need from honor in current software and future updates as well. Here Everyone raised their requirements, Even i did asked many things which our Members of Honor Forums striving since Long. R&D team took a note of what we requested. I hope that was a week day after Honor meet, they published a form here which is a poll where they tried to consider users choice. And the last one Pros On Emui . I feel EMUI 5 is obviously something that changed the game of Honor. Theres a lot of features where other proprietary softwares dint have. For the People who cant tweak their phone like root&flash(Covers everything regarding roms), The feature rich EMUI is like RR for unrooted Users. Even we discussed Many things regarding EMUI and we ended Discussions at 8:30 PM.
Post Meet:
Honor arranged dinner for all the enthusiasts who were at the meet. R&D team is friendly, they let us express everything in our mind. Its not just a normal day, HONOR truely surprised everyone in all aspects. As a token of Honor, They gave presentations to all the visitors which is eye catching .
Conclusion:
As far as i understand through the meet, Unlike other OEMs Honor is trying to reach the end users which is not a anything normal.
They collected the list of cons and rolled out an ota for 8 pro and 6x users within a week, Noted the feature Requests and published a form immediately. Woah, i feel honor(Huawei) will be a top brand if they continue the same strategy.
Kudos to R&D and Honor for giving us an opportunity to share our thoughts. And Thank You to all the Readers, Hope u guys will be at a Honor meet in ur nearest city soon. (To Openup, This Meet was arranged in Hyderabad).
That is nice. I wish that other android OEMs would do the same thing too.
Ahan its really great that honor is trying to listen user opinioms and requirements.. but i hope they don't ignore Pakistani users too in updates..

I'm excited that you decided to support the Pixel 3! I would love to help test out and review this item.
I'd love to give it a try. Pixel 3 is the only 'small' phone that's flagship level. But a compromise compared to bigger phones is the battery life. This would be wonderful!
What is the actual capacity of the battery in the case? The Amazon listing says two different things: it's 4700mAh, and it provides "110% charge". The Pixel 3's built-in battery is 2900 or so mAh, 110% of that is 3190 mAh, not 4700.
Will it be a avaliable in Italy?
I would be interested in testing one out. I've been hopeful a battery case for the pixel 3 would come out. I work long hours away from electricity and having an extra battery with me at all times would be great.
I would like to try out this battery case, I've always carried around a battery pack when i know i will be out all day and may need a charge or two throughout . This would be perfect and wouldn't require me to lug around an extra battery pack.
I am more than happy to be able to review this out. Pixel 3 is great but battery life is just not one of them. Looking forward to see if this case could really make Pixel 3 shines.
Hello, long time nexus and pixel user.
Would like to review it.
How much thickness does it add?
nice! would like to test this battery case!
Add me to the list of "I would love to try this battery case out."
It will only be available on Amazon US station, the Amazon does not allow the shipment to the outside US. But you may purchase from our website directly later.

I'd love to be able to help test this product and submit any feedback needed
I've found my P3 battery can't stand up to international travel. Looking forward to a solution.
If slots are still available, I'd love to test and give feedback on the battery case. Tech support for a university usually leaves my battery depleted before the day is done.
Id be interested in testing/reviewing this as well. Thanks

For how long will Honor 8X receive OS updates?
Is there a timeframe for Android P to be released on the 8x? Will it get Android Q?
Question at the end.
Being a true Honor user having a Honor 8 right now after a Honor 6 and also having a Honor 9 in the family I do not see why for example the Honor 8 did not get Oreo even though the specs allow the upgrade. In fact it is supposed to get it (there was even a petition started for this) however it is massively delayed - if it ever comes. I sure know the answer from a marketing and sales perspective: there were so many new Honor phones being released the company wanted to push these users to buy a new model. This often however turn users away from the brand rather than buying a new model. Many feel cheated not having at least 2 years until the device goes end of life.
So the question: Is the above about to happen with the Honor 8X aswell?
Will Huawei commit to timely updates and keep up with OTA updates over the officially supported time span including major Android version upgrades?
I'm sure many people are looking for a answer to this along with being more open with the developer community, since that makes up a good chunk of why people choose a specific brand or OEM to purchase from.
Is the developer community a factor that Huawei will consider to be a important aspect that will grow and hopefully leave trust in existing and potential users for the 8X?

my Q is i was close to buy one honor x8 but then i saw that i doesnt have lte band 20 will there be an update there support band 20 ?
Will the Honor 8X support open-source?
Which Honor 8X's feature do you think is unique among today's smartphones?
Can you explain, why Honor has a partnership with XDA and at the same time blocks development by no longer giving bootloader unlock to users?
I think this is a good opportunity for Honor to prove the official updates are as good as custom builds.
So my question is about the new Honor 8X:
Does the company seek to create such a competitive situation?
The question (s) I have are mostly about how Honor 8X improves upon its predecessor,
Firstly, Honor is associated with value for money and most of your devices, including the Honor Play and the newly launched Honor 8X are priced very competitively and offer a lot of value while having very few corners cut. How do you do this, and where do you draw the line to cut corners?
Second, AI is the buzzword these days and Honor was one of the first OEMs to introduce AI in various parts of the software. What new AI based features does Honor plan to bring to the 8X?
The Kirin 710 inside the 8X does pack a punch over the Kirin 659 on the 7X and while synthetic benchmarks do show the improved performance and efficiency, benchmarks don't always tell the entire story. How does the newer chip fare better?
The 8X does have stiff competition from other OEMs, what is one key aspect where the 8X blows the competition?
Being an owner of many different Honor devices in the past, I'm now the current owner of a freshly imported Honor Note 10 in the UK (it's 23hrs old at time of writing this, I'm very happy with it)
1. What made the powers that be in the Honor HQ decide the note 10 should be a China/Asia exclusive device? I think this would have really expanded the Honor/Huawei customer/fanbase if there were to be an EU/International variant, this could have given the public something else to consider besides the Samsung Galaxys & iPhones, especially with Honor's attractive pricing and competitive specs (the Honor play wasn't what the UK or me more to the point was expecting at IFA 2018, I was quite let down by the announcement of it and not the Note 10)
2. Bootloaders being locked or not offering unlock codes etc..., I don't really understand why OEM's decide the public can't modify they're property that they paid for to do as they wish, if they break it they pay for it to be fixed, same as a broken screen if you get me
3. As a representative of Honor, how closely do you or your colleagues work with XDA admins/members?
4. Does Honor take positive/negative feedback professionally from XDA and put a plan of action in place, this can be for future updates, designs which also may include innovation for Emui or does Honor just use the programmers in the think-tank at HQ (we can be collectively quite resourceful & helpful on here)
Does it haw big anntenas to get god 4G signal in dors.
Do someone who buy phones local whit higher price than internet shop get better protection or acesorys- ever.
Is the Honor 8X going to be updated to support Netflix HD? As far as I've seen it can be added by a software update
Hello Sir
First of all one thing is for sure that is " Honor 8x is the best looking phone in that price segment".
No other mobile in that segment can give competition to Honor 8x.
But my suggestion is to please fill up small gaps which are very important to make Honor 8x (or) upcoming Honor 9x as numbere one smartphone in that price segment.
They are:
1. Increase Sound volume. The sound is very low.
2. Please reduce saturation levels in camera. Photos are not showing natural colours.
3. Please introduce type-C port and quick charge 3 support in the upcoming Honor X (Honor 9x) series.
Thanking you
will honor 8x get GSI image for android Q?
Hi . Thank you for giving us this chance to contact with a honor representative .
I want to ask specifically about the software update policy for the honor 8X . When do you plan to end the software update support for this device?
Thank you.
What do you get when bootloader is locked and unlockable? Don't say it for security reasons.
Not good enough
"While Honor has officially ended their bootloader unlock program, we've partnered with them to relaunch the program for XDA users."
A program to provide rather limited options to a small subset of a total user population is not adequate. It leaves many (self included) with a distinct impression that the ONLY reason this is done is to suppress a voice of dissent from an influential user community by tossing them a bone to shut them up.
Why not have the wisdom, integrity and, for lack of a better word, courage, to simply drop the buzzwords, stop beating around the bush, and ultimately stop driving many of your potential customers over to Xiaomi and other vendors offering competitive prices and hardware features along with far more enlightened policies with respect to bootloader unlocking ?
Will the Honor 8X be released in Canada? We can import the US version of the 7X from newegg.ca, but it would be nice to see a real distrubution channel in the Great White North.
