Running the Vulkan Marshmallow 6.0 for the 16GB model! - Shield Android TV General

I signed up for the Vulkan Marshmallow 6.0 update last night and installed it tonight!
Already setup my 64GB sd card as adoptable and its working great!
Re arranging the tiles for apps and games to stay in one spot is also pretty awesome!

How'd you sign up? Link to builds?

I was not able to grab the Ota link for the 16gb version but the 500gb version is up for download in the forum. If you want to sign up for future updates since it goes by serial number then head over here and follow directions. https://developer.nvidia.com/shield-developer-os-images

I have one question, after you integrate the SD card to internel storage, can you still use SD card for torrent caching ? is there any way to find which folder is resided on SD card only ?

Once you choose to use adoptable storage becomes part of the in ternary storage. I am using a USB hub plugged into the micro USB port to hookup another 64gb thumb drive I'm using for roms and a logitech unifying receiver to use my old Google TV keyboard. Works out well
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

that makes it dangerous, if i only want to use my SD card for torrent buffering, i dont know if it will be done on SD card or Internal storage, as it effects internal storage.

Question. If I install this, will I get future OTA updates?
Also, does it include root?

From what I can tell the process authorizes your system to get early builds. As long as you don't change the system or run a custom recovery you should be fine. You should always be on the latest version.
This version does not include root since it is an Ota. If you want root you will need to wait until they release a rooted system image with marshmallow. Not sure how long it will be but this will take you off of the update track unless you refresh a stock system image.

Hi Alan,
This is a production image that is provided via an early access opt-in OTA.
You have given me all the information needed to enable the OTA for your device.
We’ll send you a note once your device has been enabled (you’ll also see an OTA prompt).
Thanks,

Ext SD Card to Internal SD Card

Just wanted to let people know in case they were interested. The extsd 2 internal sd card mod works on the T-Mobile Note 2. I flashed Perseus Kernel and then the mod found here. It's really nice if you have the 64gb Sandisk that was on sale at amazon

I didn't lose service at all. All I did was use the perseus kernel and the exfat version. Did you flash the right one? There is a stock kernel version and a custom kernel version. I made sure to use the custom kernel exfat. If you are using a stock kernel please use the stock kernel one. That is the only thing I can think of.
Good info, but best in the General Section, Moved and Thank You.
Does this make it so the OS is on the Sd card? If so, does it run slower? Sorry, I'm just not sure what this does. I did buy the 64gb sd and I would love to put more than 10 gigs of apps on here. Is there any downside to doing this?
hmm
I tried pretty much every mod on there, stock and custom, and still no service. I did do a restore with every try, so it would be fresh. I still get no service.
I'm using a rooted stock note ii from t-mobile. no new rom or anything. Maybe that's why?

Sorry to revive an dead thread, but I'm interested in how this has turned out. Do you notice any issues since doing this, especially with HD video recording or Burst shot camera pictures? I think it mandates that burst shot is placed on the internal because of speed issues.
Here is the real thread for this mod and it works great without any problems.

[Q] System out of memory with GBs free

So I don't know what is going on with my phone.
At one point it said it was complete full, yet I couldn't find the files that were so big that i had filled up 15 GB already.
So I did a factory reset, which work for all of 10 mins. The space I had taken up had been reduced but I still got the message even after rebooting the phone.
I have attached screenshots which I hope further clarifies things.
I'm tempted to try and go back to a stock rooted room but I'm not sure that will even help.
Anyone that can offer any kind of advise would be a god sent.
Ok, so your internal is just about full. Move some stuff to the external SD.

I think he was saying that his cards not really full that there's a problem.. and from the graph of his internal if he was really full, that bar would be fully across not a little piece of it.
Flashing roms can push your sd contents into strange places. I had it happen once.

I was getting full at one point myself, and I found a utility called Disk Utility to help me find out where all of the storage was going. Turned out it was from downloading nightlies and they get tucked away in some inconspicuous place. This may, or may not be your issue, but it's worth a try. Good luck.

Moving apps to SD card cyanogenmod 10.1 galaxy s3 ATT

Hi, this is my first time putting up a thread and i have a quick question. I apologize if this issue has already been posted up before on this site. I just dont have time to read all the threads, so if you guys can give me some quick suggestions on how to move apps from the phone memory to external SD card on cyanogenmod 10.1. Nightly. On the stock version you can go to setting and manage apps and easily select move to sd card, but on the 10.1 i am not able to see that option. Do i have to re-flash it again, i am not sure how to approach this issue. Again i am sorry if this is a repost.

Shouldn't hate Samsung. Its Google's code, even more so that you are running an AOSP based ROM. As I stated in your post, Google released an update that prevents third party apps from writing to the external card. =/

I'd be willing to bet you cant. Any phone that uses MTP cannot move apps to the SD Card. Its impossible.
On a side note, if you are willing to use a touchwiz ROM, u are rooted and you have a kernel that has init.d support... Take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849861
Keep in mind this is mainly intended for 32/64gb cards. This will also sacrifice performance due to lower read/write speed.

It is only for the i9500 and i9505 so far. It appears to have fixed the blurring/tearing issue and allows you to move apps to the SD.

Hopefully this isn't samsungs answer to having only 9 gigs of usable internal storage. I still want them to "optimize" the phone so that we can at least get 12-13 gigs of usually internal storage. That or give out high speed 16 or 32 gig sd cards to everyone so that we don't see a performance difference when we do run apps from the sd card

Someone seems to have an attitude for no reason.
And no, allot of us didnt have the chance to check out the phone before we bought it, because we bought it as soon as the order page went up. And sorry if i think that if you advertise something as 16 gigs, you should at least get pretty close to 16 gigs, not 9. Its people like you who always say "they dont owe us anything" that nothing changes.
Allot of us feel that we got screwed, and we let Samsung know that. If enough people complain, they WILL do something about it.
I flashed a cwm flashable XXUBMEA ROM. and i can't change my apn to fast.t-mobile.com to change to the LTE apn... when i try to change it to IPV4/IPV6 I can't because it's grayed out. so you cant tap it.
Just a quick update. I did flash the XXUBMEA to my T-Mobile S4, but I was having some issues. like my calls kept dropping, and a bunch of apps would freeze and have to force close, like hill climb racing, facebook, twitter, XDA-developers app to name a few. thankfully i made a nandroid back up before flashing XXUBMEA so now i'm back on MDL.
can you post link to which one you flashed?
Sure it's http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22979706399755386 make sure you open the zip and change the boot.Img from the kernel to a t mobile kernel.

I used that one for a bit and didn't like it. They deleted some essential apps and widgets like the play store, youtube street view, and the stock weather widget. Also the dual camera doesn't work. I had to ODIN the MDL back. I'm looking for full stock MEA ROM deodexed TWRP flashable zip.

It's a ROM related issue (JB). I'm using Clean Master(App), which allowes to move at least some apps to external SD.
im using a custom rom with the memory swap baked in. But im pretty sure this is the mod/guide that im using

it is really good and fools the phone into using your sd card as your internal memory so no need to swap on a per app basis.

Thanks for pointing me to this. Can you verify for me as I cant seem to find it. Can this be used on my stock rom rooted? Or will I need to flash a new rom? Id really like to keep it stock as much as possible. Dont mind if the trash has been removed though.
I know the thread says you need a rom and kernel that supports initD, but I dont know if this does?
Also, the initial thread indicates it needs to be a international version, mine is a US from verizon. Will this still work?
Lastly, im assuming I will need to whipe my phone and start fresh?
Again thanks for all the help with this!
I'm not a hundred percent sure to be honest. But I would expect it to work on a stock rooted phone.
You would need to do a complete wipe and I think it says in the op that you're better off using the mod as soon as you do a fresh install
However, seeing as you are with Verizon I would really advise you to Flash the rom I use, Which is the Jedi rom.
It comes with some trash removed, some nice eye candy, the swap already cooked in and the new kernel is giving standby battery performance of 1% an hour.
But if you do then I suggest you wait for version 18 which is due any day.
Good luck
