Sometimes yes. That is why you should copy and then delete by yourself. There is a chance that you moved photos in a folder with a ,,.nomedia,, file inside. Then photos are there but Gallery is not able to show them.

How to add videos from pc to phone?

I'm a complete n00b. I'm just trying to figure out on how to send videos from pc to my phone for a while now. HTC sync manager allows only adding mp3 files to the library but not video files to send to the phone.. And copy-pasting directly on the storage card also isn't helping me. When I copy paste it to my storage card, i can't find that file on my phone again. it only can be seen through astro file manager. any other way to send files from pc to phone which can be seen on my phone after i disconnect it from pc?
Go to settings - apps - All - Gallery - clear data/cache
Copy paste your movie file, open the gallery and let it rebuild it's cache/data.

Thanks! And is this the actual way to transfer videos from pc to One V?
NO.. need to do that when the gallery cannot see your video.
To transfer, just put your phone on Disk Drive mode, then just copy from PC and paste to SDcard.
So , does it work or not ? I can't think any other reason why the file is not showing on Gallery unless it can't read the video file format.

[Q] Lost whistle notification

I just joined the realm of changing roms on my GS3. The thing I am missing now is that awesome whistle notification sound. How can I get this back? Thanks
Download this unzip it and put S_Whistle.ogg in /system/media/audio/notifications with a file explorer, reboot phone and you should have it back.
Download the original ROM from here, extract it, find your whistle, then copy it to the /sdcard/Notifications folder and it should be available for selection.
EDIT : got beaten on this one... but the end result is the same.
Thanks for the links. Got the file but it appears that you cannot write it to the system folder section you specified. I was able to add it to the internal sdcard in the media/audio/notifications
Thanks again

The system folder is write protected, you should be able to change it in your file explorer. Another root is to make the three folders Ringtones, Alarms, Notifications on your sdcard and put the sounds in there and reboot and they should show up.

[Q] thumbdata3 file 1.5 gb Need Help

Hay guys
I am facing some strange issues on my galaxy nexus 4.2.2 unrooted
I have notice that in my phone there is a file name THUMBDATA3-1763508120 in DCIM--->thumbnail folder of size 1.5 GB.
And even after deleting this file no space of my sdcard is released . Means my SDCARD is still showing the same space as before .
and after some time it recreate again with same size when i use camera for some time.
One more thing in my phone I have 9.35 GB of data content but SDCARD is showing 11.5 GB of space out of 13.3 GB
This may help , please confirm
Using a disk space analyzer, I was surprised to see that my Android tablet had 1.03GB of photos. This was odd to me, because I knew there were only a couple of photos on the device.
I pinpointed the problem to thumbnails. These are tiny copies of photos used by some apps to more quickly display pictures. Specifically, the 1GB was being taken up by a thumbnail index file, and I didn't need to lose that 1GB to a function I don't use on the tablet. I erased the file as follows:
1. Open a file manager on Android. I use File Manager from Rhythm Software.
2. Ensure that it can display system or hidden files. This is an option somewhere under Settings. In File Manager, tap Menu > Settings > Show Hidden Files.
3. Navigate to \mnt\sdcard\DCIM\ .thumbnails. By the way, DCIM is the standard name for the folder that holds photographs, and is the standard for pretty much any device, whether smartphone or camera; it is short for "digital camera IMages." Another BTW: when a folder name is prefixed with a period, then it is a hidden folder in Android (such as .thumbnails).
4. Select and erase the file that's about 1GB and contains the word 'thumbdata." The exact file name will vary.
After I did this, image viewing apps like Gallery operated just fine, with no apparent slowdown from the loss of this file.
In this way I freed up 1GB on my Android v4 tablet, 1GB on my Android v4 phone, and 750MB on an older Android v2 phone.
Keeping the 1GB Free
Because .thumbdata is a system file, Android recreates it. Indeed, you may find more than one copy in the .thumbnails folder, if you have reinstalled Android or similarly redid the system in some way.
To keep Android from creating the 1GB file anew, we need to create a dummy file that fools Android. In short, we create a text file with a text editor, and then move it to the thumbnails folder. Here are the steps to doing this:
1. Use File Manager to determine the exact name of the thumbnail index file. On one of my Android devices, the name is .thumbdata3--1967290299. Write it down.
2. Start a text editor or word processor on the Android, and then create a new text file.
3. Use the Save As command to save the file in the DCIM folder. (We move it to the .thumbnails folder in a later step.) Save it with the same name at that index file, such as ".thumbdata3--1967290299". Now, depending on the text editor's capabilities, it might not allow the "." prefix or a blank extension. Thus, you might end up with thumbdata3--1967290299.txt as the file name. We fix this in a later step.
4. Exit the text editor, and then switch to File Manager. Now, it is important you use a file manager like Rhythm Software's File Manager app, because it does what some others cannot: it can (a) rename file extensions and (b) access hidden folders.
5. In File Manager, navigate to the \DCIM\ .thumbnails folder. If the thumbdata3 file is there again, erase it again.
6. Move up a level to the \DCIM folder, and then right-click the thumbdata3--1967290299.txt file name. ("Right click" means hold your finger down on the name until a menu appears.)
7. From the menu, choose Rename, and then rename thumbdata3--1967290299.txt to .thumbdata3--1967290299 -- (a) add the dot (.) to the start of the file name, and (b) erase the ".txt" from the end of the file name.
8. Click OK (or Rename) to finish renaming.
9. Right click the file name, and then choose Move (or Cut).
10. Navigate down to the .thumbnails folder, and then tap Paste.
The dummy file will now prevent Android from creating the huge index file.

I just answered this in another post but check it
I have root on my device, so I did the following.
Using Root explorer I went to the folder /DCIM/.thumbnails (hidden) and deleted the huge file. Then with the "+" I chose "New file" and named it the same as the previous .thumbdata3-.... it created a file that is 0 Bytes and then I went and used the camera and the apps, so far the file stays the same size, so maybe that trick will work for others too. Good luck.

[HOW TO] [ROOT]: Install Custom S-Pen Pointers and Sounds

Hello everyone. This is my second attempt at making a useful thread for the community so if it isn't formatted correctly or isn't right in anyway please PM me and I will fix it., it might be helpful to me to leave instructions on how to fix it as well. If something like this already exists, I am sorry please notify me of that and I will take this down.
This is a thread to instruct you on how to make custom s-pen sounds and install them as well as how to install custom s-pen pointers on any TW based rom including stock ( this is just install, I don't know how to make custom pointers yet). There are two requirements YOU MUST BE ROOTED AND RUNNING STOCK OR TW BASED ROM. This is my method, I am not saying that there aren't better ways just that this is how I do it and I know it works. I am not responsible for things going wrong and you being left with a device that doesn't work. You do this because you choose to and understand the risk involved. Also, please make back ups of all the files you want to change so that you have all the original files.
For Sounds: (You can use any sound you have or even the voice record app to make the sound you'd like)
1. Make sure you're rooted
2. Have some sort of root permission file explorer installed (I use Rom Toolbox)
3. Find or record the sounds you want to use as your s-pen attach and detech sounds If they aren't in the .ogg format then convert it to .ogg (I use wavepad for this step)
4. Decide if you want the sound to be sound 1,2 or 3
5. Once you have your sound the way want it rename the file for attach to Pen_att_noti1 (the number can also be a 2 or 3 depending on where you want the sound) and the sound for detach to Pen_det_noti1 (again the number can be different)
6. Place the files on your phone where you can locate them with the file explorer you have installed.
7. Locate the file(s) you want to use and using your explorer navigate to the directory system\ media\ audio\ ui and paste the sounds there. (You might be asked to overwrite whats there. If you want to save the original sounds simply find the file with the same name before you paste and rename to (thefilenamehere.ogg.bak)
8. Restart your phone
9. Once rebooted navigate to your spen sound selector and choose the sound want.
Thanks to my friend TheGrammerFreak for this nexxt bit
For Pointers:
(I don't know how to make pointers. This is assuming you have a file that you know can be used as the pointer. i am trying to learn and when/if I do I will add that to this thread)
1. Make sure you're rooted
2. Make sure you have some root permission file explorer installed.
3. Make sure you have a program that can open .apk files on you PC (I use 7-Zip)
4. Using the explorer you have navigate to the directory system\ framework and copy the file framework-res.apk to a place that you can access via the pc (I used my extsdcard)
5. Attach your phone to the computer
6. Find the framework-res.apk and move it onto your computer
7. Take the file you want to use and reaname it to tw_pointer_spot_hovering_spen
8. Open (not to be confused with unzip. Right click the apk and select "open with") the framework-res.apk with a program that will open it
9. Once open navigate to res\ drawable-xhdpi and find the file named tw_pointer_spot_hovering_spen delete that file and take the file you made/have of the same name and paste it directly into that directory. exit the program after doing so.
10 Take the framework-res.apk file that you edited and place onto your phone where you can locate it.
11. Detach your device from the computer
12. Using your explorer on your phone navigate to the edited framework-res.apk[ and select to copy it.
13. Navigate with your explorer to the directory system\ framework and paste the file there. WARNING: You might get several errors and force closes, don't worry this is normal.
14. Either restart your phone or pull your battery and boot up and you will now see your new pointer. Enjoy!
NOTE: If you want a different pointer for your files that air view capable or if you want your new pointer to be used as your air view pointer follow the same instructions except that the file you are wanting to use and the one you replace are both named tw_pointer_spot_hovering_spen_more and these files can be the same as your normal pointer if you choose.

So I'm on rooted custom rom and my copy and paste doesnt work. I can highlight hit copy but never can paste. Auto fill or clipboard, clipboard blank. Could Adaway cause this? What app controls copy and paste?
