[Guide] Unlock Bootlader, TWRP and Root your Huawei MediaPad M2 8 - 10 - Huawei MediaPad M2

As usual with this stuff. You do everything at your own risk. I am not responsible in any way for what you manage to achieve, either good or bad.
EVERYTHING IS ON YOU!
So. To unlock Bootlader, add Custom Recovery TWRP and root we need to do a little preparation. First of, It will cost you €4 to unlock the bootloader in this way, but given that your warranty is absolutely immaculate, it's worth every penny. You CAN get the code for free from huawei but at the same voiding your warranty.
Step 1.
We start with activating "Developer Options".
We do this by going to Settings -> About Tablet.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 2.
Then you click on Build Number 5 times.
Step 3.
When you have enabled the Developer Options, go to Settings -> Developer Options.
Step 4.
Once there, you should look up "Enable OEM Unlock" and select it. It will ask again if you are sure. Press yes.
Step 5.
After this, we need to change the USB port to something called "Manufacture Mode" which you do by opening the calculator (Huawei's own) in landscape mode
then type exactly this: () () 2846579 () () =
After pressing the = sign, then a hidden menu will show up. Do not mess around in here if you do not know what you're doing ...
Step 6.
Now you enter the "Background Settings" -> USB Port Settings -> Manufacture Mode and select "Manufacture Mode".
Select and close the menu. Back out to Home.
Step 7.
Now you must get HiSuite available here: http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/
This is for you to get the right drivers. Just install and start up.
Step 8.
Connect the MediaPad to your computer with the USB cable. The MediaPad will ask if it's ok with USB debug. Take the "Always Allow" and ok.
Step 9.
Check in your PC Control Panel -> Device Manager so that it looks something like this.
Step 10.
Now let's get us a program called DC-Unlocker client. What it can do is unlock your SIM and get your Bootloader Unlock code that is unique to your MediaPad. This code can also be ordered from Huawei but then you can kiss your warranty
bye-bye. You will have to pay 4 Credits (€ 4) for the bootloader code. To unlock the SIM, it will cost an additional 4 credits. It costs 2 credits to relock the bootloader if needed for warranty issues.
Download DC-unlocker client here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/get/B4oUVw8X
Take the opportunity to make a user as well as buy credits here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy
Select New User and enter your desired username and email address. Once you have paid for your credits you will receive the password to your user via email and / or directly after managed payments (PayPal).
Step 11.
Start the DC-unlocker client as an administrator (Right-click DC unlocker2client.exe and select "run as administrator")
Step 12.
Now, change the Select manufacturer to "Huawei Phones". Leave the Select model on Auto Detect. Now press the magnifying glass.
Step 13.
Now it will look like this when the program has found the Mediapad.
Step 14.
Now, open the Server tab and enter your username and password you provided when you created your account. Then press the Check login to see how many credits you have.
Step 15.
Now open Unlocking tab and select the "Read bootloader code" (This will cost 4 credits)
Step 16.
Now your code is shown at the selected area. Print / Save it down somewhere safe because that code is unique to your MediaPad and it will cost you 4 credits to get it again.
Step 17.
Now that you have your bootloader code, we need to restore the MediaPad to HiSuite mode again instead of Manufacture mode. You do this by redoing the step with the hidden menu with the calculator at Step 5. Go to the same page but select HiSuite instead of Manufacture Fashion.
Step 18.
Now that we have Bootloader code, we have to arrange ADB and Fastboot to send some commands to the MediaPad.
ADB and Fastboot I have collected here: https://mega.nz/#!ck8CDJra!XsExtdNcwGX7zMW9F6uYo155YuMd71lV7G9vXIYrhe8
In that folder I also have TWRP (twrp.img) for MediaPad M2 and a theme that changes the language to English (ui.zip) as TWRP is in Chinese.
Unzip the folder in your root (c:/) or wherever you want.
Now open the command prompt (the Administrator) in the computer and navigate to the folder so it looks something like this.
Step 19.
Start the MediaPad in fastboot / Recovery mode. This is done by turning off the MediaPad. Inserting the USB cable from the device to the computer while the MediaPad is off and quickly pressing the Power button + volume down button until this image appears.
Step 20.
We start by unlocking the bootloader, type: fastboot oem unlock your-boot-unlock-code (So: fastboot oem unlock 8794898763874)
Now you have unlocked your bootlader. Now type: fastboot reboot
The MediaPad will reboot.
Step 21.
Turn off the MediaPad and repeat Step 19.
When you are in fastboot / Recovery mode, enter the command prompt: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Now you have flashed TWRP Recovery.
At the command prompt, type: fastboot reboot
The MediaPad will reboot.
Step 22.
Now, connect your MediaPad to your computer and navigate to the internal memory. You will find a folder called TWRP.
In this folder, create a new folder and name it "theme". In this folder, copy ui.zip from my adb folder.
You can also take the opportunity to copy the BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip to your MediaPad (suggested internal memory root or download folder or wherever you want as long as you know where you have it).
Step 23
Now we open the command prompt again and type: adb reboot recovery
Your MediaPad will reboot and suddenly you are inside the TWRP Recovery.
Optional: You can also enter recovery by booting the tablet by pressing power button + volume up. Keep holding volume up until you enter TWRP
I recommend that you make a TWRP backup of your MediaPad BEFORE rooting... Just incase
Step 24
Install BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip and you have ROOT.
Now you are ready!
Install an app that allows you to reboot to recovery easy for example "Quick Boot" in PlayStore.
Do you have any any questions, just ask them here!

IF it says OK you have successfully flashed TWRP.
And the TWRP folder won't appear until you have booted in to recovery at least once. The thing is that it will be in Chinese unless you do the step before booting in to recovery.
Therefore you create a folder in sdcard/ called TWRP and in that folder another folder that you call theme there you add the ui.zip.
So complete address is /sdcard/TWRP/theme
(Note, big letters on TWRP)

i have created folder called "TWRP" by myself, then i have created "theme", copied that ui.zip and? nothing changed..
IF i reboot device once again to recovery=>default screen with fastboot will appear. I even tried to download an app from store called "quick boot", downloaded=>choosed to reboot into the recovery and app stopped working (because it was saying that i dont have root)

You have to use the right command:
adb reboot recovery
You can also enter recovery by booting the tablet by pressing power + volume up. Keep holding volume up until you are in TWRP.

Still can not boot into the recovery. I would like to inform you, that i do own 8.0 MediaPad M2 Pro version (which comes with 3GB of RAM) (cos i saw you have 10.1)

Don't forget the thanks button

I did not you deserved it.
And one more thing to all: in other thread one guy was talking about not working xmod (xmodgames properly) even if you have your device rooted (by this method). After like 10min i finally has launched even xmod (because most of all you need for this really true method of root), i had some issues with installing etc. but now i can play my CoC with that
hopefully you wont take it as a spam, take care. bb

I have a Huawei M2 8.0 and don't have the "Enable OEM Unlock" option in the Developer Options
Any ideas how to proceed further?
EDIT: Nvm, I proceeded with the rest of the guide and it worked fine.. I didn't have to enable OEM Unlocking.
BTW, your TWRP link on Mega is broken - it's asking for a decrypt key. Luckily I found a different TWRP somewhere else and that appears to be working fine.

[Tut] Preparing Your One X for Custom Roms (For Dummies)

There seems to be a lot of confusion in the air around either how to unlock your bootloader or how to install a new recovery.
I am writing this as a very easy step by step guide to do all the things necessary to get your new HTC One X ready to accept some custom fun so here goes nothing
Unlocking Your Bootloader
Words of warning - unlocking your boot loader will wipe your data partition
Things you have put on your internal memory will be fine but all of your apps etc will be gone.
Before we can even think about doing anything the first port of call is unlocking your bootloader.
As of the time of writing this there is currently no S-OFF method available so this is the only method of flashing a new recovery or boot image.
I'm going to keep this as simple as possible
1. Go Here "http://www.htcdev.com/" and create yourself an account on HTCDEV.
2. Download These Fastboot Files
3. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
4. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 2 to the new folder
5. Go Here http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ and select "All Other Supported Models" and "then begin unlock bootloader"
6. Yes, Tick both Boxes, Proceed
7. Skip up to step 8 as we have all we need for the first 7 steps
8. Power off your phone by holding the power button down for 10 seconds
9. Power your phone on by holding power and volume down
8. Highlight Fastboot With Volume+or- then press Power
9. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
10. cd to your folder where we put fastboot files cd c:\fastboot
11. type this into your command prompt window fastboot oem get_identifier_token
12. select & copy the text as per step 9 on the HTCDev website
13. paste your identifier token into the box at the bottom and submit
You Will Very Shortly Receive an email from HTCDev with a link to the second part of the instructions and your "Unlock_code.bin" attached
14. download the "Unlock_code.bin" from the email and save it to the same folder that we extracted fastboot files to in step 2
15. type this into your command prompt window fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
16. The Display Will change on your phone, press Vol + to accept and power to confirm.
Note you may get an error on screen or on your cmd window (cant remember which now) that says something about too many links. It is nothing to worry about and your bootloader will still unlock
Congratulations You Have Successfully Unlocked Your Bootloader
Now to the good stuff
Installing A Recovery
This one is very simple to do once you have your bootloader unlocked.
A thing to note; at present there is no USB-Mass Storage in recovery so if you are planning to install a custom rom i would get it put on the internal memory of your phone now rather than messing things up later and been unable to install it
(if you have follwed my unlocking guide skip to step 4)
1. Download These Fastboot Files
2. Make a new folder on your C: drive called fastboot.
3. Extract The Zip downloaded in step 1 to the new folder
4. The Official Version of CWM has been released and is now capable of flashing all roms, you can grab it HERE
5. download the custom recovery and save it in the same folder as you did the fastboot files
6. Power Phone Off by Holding power button for 10 secs
7. select Fastboot with volume + or - then press power
8. plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt.
(windows XP - Click Start > Run > type CMD in box then press OK
(Windows 7 - Click Start > type CMD in search box then press Enter)
9. cd to your fastboot files folder cd c:\fastboot
10. type in your command prompt fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery_image.img
in my case it was fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
Congratulations you now have a custom recovery
power off the phone by holding power for 10 seconds
power on the phone holding power+volumer down
choose recovery with volume +/- then power to select
You are now on your custom recovery
First Thing - Do A Nandroid Backup Of Your Current Rom In Case anything bad happens
Make sure you already have your new rom on your internal memory as you cannot enable mass storage in the current recovery builds.
Wipe then Flash your new Custom Rom
Or you can download the latest SuperSU binaries from HERE and install them Via Recovery to just root the stock rom
Hope this helps some of you
Thx !

+1!! It's easy once someone spells it out, lol.
Question (and I know it's probably been discussed elsewhere, but clearly I've only just noticed it), with this issue with not being able to enable mass storage...does this mean that once I've chosen a particular ROM, placed it onto SD and unlocked/flashed recovery, I won't be able to flash another different ROM? Can I not just flash through fastboot??
Is it worth collating the oem get_identifier_token calls and responses? As there may be an obvious correlation whereby HTVDev can be bypassed or the process simplified.

If the dev has released a set of fastboot images then you can install them through fastboot.
You can change roms as you still have USB mode in the custom Rom you have, the only real problem comes if you format your system partition and then realise you don't have a Rom to install on the sdcard, at this point you can't get to a position where you can put a new zip on so you would have to do the ruu and start from scratch
It's only when in the recovery that USB doesn't work, as soon as you flash your new Rom and boot it you can use USB as normal

It's highly unlikely that we will be able to learn anything by the identifier tokens, if anything is to be learned it would be finding what link your own identifier token has to the unlock_code.bin that they send you in the email, but we will probably never know

When I do the process of unlock from htcdev, I got this error:
Error Code: 122.
Error Reason: Email cannot be sent.
Anyone can help?
Same error Message for me, but it seems to be an error by HTCdevs Email sending like you see, i done same with my Sensation XL before 2 months and it works. Surely HTCdevs have any issues by sending mails from their system! Hope thats not generally when ONE X has Software: 1.26.401.2
But cool TUT! I`m impressed!
I have 1.26.707.4 getting the same 122 error interspersed with site unavailable. I think something is wrong on htcdev at the moment

HTC Desire 530 Root/S-OFF

0) Download these files
SuperSu 2.74 - https://download.chainfire.eu/964/Su...0519174328.zip
Universal ADB Driver
Android SDK - https://developer.android.com/studio/index.html
TWRP - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24588212152304477 (Experimental build)
SunShine - http://theroot.ninja/apks/SunShine-latest.apk (Optional)
1) Visit htcdev.com and unlock your bootloader
-sign up as a dev, activate your email, and follow the steps
2) Download twrp from the app store. You won’t be able to run it yet but you still need it
3) Put the supersu zip file from your computer into your download folder of your phone
4) Get fastboot & adb running on your computer.
- open cmd prompt
-navigate to the fastboot/adb folder in your cmd prompt
-with your phone plugged into your computer type “adb devices”
-if it returns your device good
-now in cmd type “adb reboot downloader” (you can also do this by powering off your phone then turning your phone on by holding the down volume button and the power button at the same time.
-once you are in the downloader type “fastboot devices” in cmd
-if this returns your device good
-DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER TILL THIS IS WORKING!!!
4)Once your phone is in the rebooted downloader screen type “fastboot flash recovery <twrpDownloadFromAbove>”
-make sure you are on the downloader page and not the bootloader page
-this should end in .img
-this is a second boot screen for your phone. The first time I did this recovery wasn’t working because I was trying to fastboot on the bootloader page.
5) Now boot into recovery mode by navigating to it on your phone or using the cmd “adb reboot recovery”
-Once you are here you will see the twrp screen
6a) The way I did it is going into the twrp recovery boot and going to install and choosing the supersu.zip file I moved to my phone in step 3. After it is done reboot your phone and now you are rooted.
6b) The other way is to go to advanced in twrp and enable sideload
-now in cmd type “adb sideload <SuperSuDownloadFromAbove>”
7) If you need to turn S-OFF install sunshine on your phone and it will do it.
-You need to have your phone rooted first to turn your S-OFF with sunshine
Hi, I've been trying to root my phone since a couple of days but I've not been able to do it. I followed your guide as well as jcase one, but the results are the same, I can't boot to recovery mode after flashing the twrp image saying "failed to boot to recovery mood. Press volume up or down to back to menu" when I choose the option from bootloader screen (which is the only place where I can find a "boot recovery" option, and using the cmd command doesn't work.

Thanks I followed all of the instructions and I was able to successfully get Root on my metro pcs HTC Desire 530.
IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUE with the TWRP.img
- Make sure you have "OEM Unlocking" enabled under developer options in settings since the phone wiped when you unlocked the bootloader it probably unclicked that option and you just have to enable it again.
- Check md5sum of the TWRP image file maybe you have a corrupt file and therefore a bad flash (I use OP link it worked fine).
- When pushing the TWRP image make sure you have a good USB connection.

You have to copy and paste it on a notepad, edit and remove the bootloader parts, recopy and place in the Htcdev box. At least that's what I came up with to get the job done.

Unlock bootloader without losing data

For those who are waiting to unlock bootloader but don´t want to lose data this quick guide is intended to do so.
Usually in most of threads out there about unlocking anyone find the typical phrase "unlock bootloader erase all your data" like is advertised in the same MiFlash Unlock tool and for other devices which method to unlock it is through the same fastboot mode by command.
Really unlock bootloader doesn´t erase nothing itself, the problem is at time to reboot to system and here is the issue, if we reboot inmediately then data will gone. (some users of older devices reported that not always this happened BTW)
Steps that I did are the next (maybe some step was unnecesary and I´ll indicate which)
1 - Unlock bootloader as normally through the tool when time it´s came.
2- When it finishes exit the tool, don´t tap on "Reboot device" in the tool, just close the tool.
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3- Device stays in fastboot, check bootloader status in fastboot mode by typing
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
View attachment 4637936
4- Extract recovery image fromOrangeFox-R8.3-vince zip inside adb folder and type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery fox.img
(I renamed it fox).
5- Reboot to recovery by typing
Code:
fastboot boot fox.img
.
View attachment 4637937
6- Once in recovery don´t swipe to allow modifications, tap on Read Only.
7- Some drivers will be updated between device and pc, then copy OrangeFox-R8.3-vince zip to internal memory (or if you prefer to an ext. sdcard) if you already don´t have it in your device.
Now flash the zip, I guess that this is necessary to OrangeFox can unpack all the tools in Fox folder onto device.
8- I enabled these options in recovery and flashed magisk, you can enable some additional features.
9 - Then Flashed No+Verity_R5Plus.zip uploaded file (I´m not sure if this step is needed so I enabled before this option and OrangeFox has in-builded this feature but just to made sure, you know..)
10- Reboot normally and you´re done.
Thanks for the info!
I intended to do what you explained in the guide.
Unfortunately, I couldn't go further than step n°1 because I haven't activated the "USB Debugging" function in my phone and this tool requires it in order to unlock the phone.
The thing is my phone (a Redmi Note 5) is currently stuck in the recovery mode so I can't access inside and activate the "USB Debugging" function.
My phone is stuck in this mode since I tried to update it with the official MIUI 10 version. I definitely want to recover my datas before doing anything else so I haven't click on the "WIPE DATAS" option (obviously).
1-Do you know another way to activate the "USB debugging" function without a proper access into the phone and in order to follow your guide afterwards ?
2-Do you know another way to recover my datas before unlocking the bootloader and flashing a new version ?
Thanks !
Thanks for the trick! but we can use another recovery for this method?
I think clicking on 'Reboot' on the unlock tool sends the script to erase all data.... Here's what I did:
1. unlock bootloader normally
2. unplug phone without clicking on 'Reboot' button at the end
3. Force power off by holding power button for about 10s
and when it rebooted.. it went right into system..phone booted normally with the 'unlocked' logo at boot with all my data untouched.

Yes, all the trick resides on that, avoid to boot up from fastboot but from a complete shut off state then the order to format data would be deactivated. Newer bootloaders would prevent this but it worth the try.

You have first of all to recover your device and then to fix it try again to unlock bootloader.
In recovery do a format data it could be solve it. then set up again all

The problem is that is a cyclical issue. In order to can boot (presumably) due to a dirty/wrong update you need to format data, if you had have enable USB debugging before then you could flash the same firmware that was previously working well but with USB debugging disabled you can´t.

The first I do with a new device is enable USB debugging and check on OEM unlock bootloader cause mainly the first also sometimes can cause a bootloop on a wrong/failed update and to have more options in a worst scenario, take it like a lesson for the next time.
There are ways to enable USB debugging under adb commands but you will need su permissions for this, there are a way to flash a firmware through recovery using adb sideload but again you will need USB debugging and lastly in R5+ you can flash a rom through MiFlash Tool but in download mode so fastboot never worked for me on a Xiaomi with locked bootloader.
Try this last to see if it works, I don´t think but some time ago that I don´t use this tool, try flashing the same firmware that previously was onto your device using this tool on fastboot moed and checking in the centered option to flash and keep data at the right down of the tool.
is this still working?

maybe you can try using fastboot recovery, do a backup from there (to sd card) , then reflash to stock, unlock again (this time enable usb debugging), and after that use your backup to get back your data.

I missed to pull the cable on time, already phone was rebooting :/ ah well backup restore well semi ok. Not sure will i stay rooted. I only needed root so i could automate cell data, vpn. Used MacroDroid for automation. Eg. when off the home wifi, turn on cellular data, when on again, turn off. When on non home/work wifi, turn on vpn, etc. Now i need some like smart unlock (don't lock phone when on home wifi or when bt watch connected) macro and i am done.
Will stick to MIUI for now, but wish Xiaomi would tweak those few things, so we do not have to root phone.

Collection of Useful Guides and Files (Unlock Bootloader, Fix Softbrick, Update to EMUI 5, Update to EMUI 8, Upgrade to AOSP 10)

Description
None of the work in this thread is actually made by me. Credit will be given where credit is due.
This is simply a collection of everything required so that it is easier for people to tinker with their Honor 6X, and be able to restore to a working phone quickly if something goes wrong.
All text placed in quotations are either adb or fastboot commands that are to be executed.
Your phone will be connected to the computer for most parts of the process, so unless the instructions specifically says to disconnect the cable, keep it connected.
The power button for my Honor 6X is broken, so some things I do in this guide might seem weird if you have a working one.
Leave any questions, concerns, or feedback below, and I might be able to help with them.

Prerequisites
Huawei Honor 6X (any model)
Windows Computer
USB to micro-b cable
Micro SD card (>4GB)
Micro SD card adapter
adb and fastboot
winrar or alternative archive manager
something to touch testpoints with (i.e. tweezers)
Unlocking Bootloader (REQUIRED FILES: PotatoNV-next-v2.1.0-x86.exe | 2.7MB)
We will be using PotatoNV to be able to unlock the bootloader and get the unlock code.
Full tutorial and troubleshooting can be found here if this explanation is not in depth enough.
Turn off the device. While touching the appropriate testpoints on the motherboard, connect the phone to your computer.
Location of testpoints are beside the fingerprint sensor connector, and can be found in detail here: Honor 6X Testpoints.png | 114 KB
I'm not exactly sure how these testpoints work, but the tutorial on GitHub says connecting point A to ground will put the phone into edl mode once you connect to a computer.
In a video I saw that they bridged the gap between point A and B with a tweezer, and this worked for me reliably so you should use this method if you can.
Open PotatoNV.
Verify that the target device is correct and that it is using COM3.
Select "Kirin 65x (A)" in the bootloader dropdown.
Click start, and the process should unlock the bootloader and output the new unlock code in the console on the right hand side.
Create a text file and paste the code into it! Do not lose the code or you will have to repeat this process again.
Soft Bricked Device to EMUI 2 (REQUIRED FILES: Honor 6X BRICK to EMUI 2.rar | 564.3 MB)
This is an OS designed for testing purposes and is only used for updating to a newer OS in this guide.
Extract [Honor 6X BRICK to EMUI 2.rar]
Install drivers in [Handset ProductLine 2.01.02.00] by launching [DriverSetup.exe]
Launch [idt.exe] in [IDT_V2.0.0.9]
In the toolbar on the top of the screen, click the toolbox icon to the right of the stop icon.
In the file selection prompt that comes up, select [HL2BLNTMBD001051_Download.xml] from [HL2BLNTMBD001051], and press OK.
Turn off the device. While touching the same testpoints on the motherboard as before, connect the phone to your computer.
In the toolbar at the top of the screen, click the play icon to start the flashing process.
After flashing is done, you should be booted into an OS that only has a couple of testing applications.
EMUI 2 to EMUI 5 (REQUIRED FILES: Honor 6X EMUI 2 to EMUI 5.rar | 1.35GB)
You can stop after these steps if you are happy with using stock EMUI 5.
Extract [Honor 6x EMUI 2 to EMUI 5.rar]
"adb reboot bootloader" to reboot to fastboot mode.
Pick any model from the [HonorOEMINFO] folder and move/copy the corresponding file to the adb root folder.
As an example, I used BLN-AL20C00 as it is the most similar to my original model BLN-AL10C00.
If you do not have a preference, you can just do exactly what I did for convenience.
"fastboot flash oeminfo BLN-AL20C00"
Flashing oeminfo relocks the bootloader.
Even if it says your phone is unlocked in the fastboot mode, you are unable to flash images like TWRP.
To find out how to install TWRP on EMUI 5 you can read through the EMUI 5 to EMUI 8 section after.
"fastboot reboot"
Using a computer and an SD card adaptor, create a folder named [dload] in the root directory of the SD card, and move/copy the [update.app] file into this folder.
Insert the SD card back into the phone, unlock the device, and click the software update icon on the home screen.
Click "1. SD card upgrade", and confirm any prompts that pop up.
Your phone should reboot, start the update process, and boot when its done.
The first boot may take a while (~5 min?) so be patient.
EMUI 5 to EMUI 8 (REQUIRED FILES: Honor 6X EMUI 5 to EMUI 8.rar | 1.86GB)
You can stop after these steps if you are happy with using stock EMUI 8.
"fastboot oem unlock code"
Replace code with the actual unlock code that you saved in the text file before.
Ex. "fastboot oem unlock code 71WTJ3N3Q425ASJ4"
A prompt will pop up on your phone display, asking you to confirm if you want to unlock the bootloader. Use volume buttons to scroll to yes and press the power button to confirm.
Your phone will restart and start factory resetting. The factory reset will fail, as expected, but it is fine, just click restart system. Again, this is the first boot and might take a while (~5 min?).
Once your phone has booted up, "adb reboot bootloader"
Move the file [twrp-3.1.1-0-berlin.img] to the [adb] folder.
Once your phone enters fastboot mode, "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-berlin.img"
"fastboot reboot", once your phone boots, "adb reboot recovery"
For some reason "fastboot reboot recovery" does not actually boot you into the recovery, so we will boot into the OS first.
Move the [adb] folder to your C:/ drive, and put the [HWOTA_BLN_Eng] in the [adb] folder.
Open the [HWOTA8_BLN] folder in the [HWOTA_BLN_Eng] folder. Execute [update_eng.bat] by clicking it.
Enter 1 and press enter. (Repack)
Once that is complete, "adb reboot bootloader"
The script wants to install TWRP, but the recovery that the script wants to install does not seem to work according to my testing.
This is fine because the process of flashing it will fail, as the script tries to execute "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk image" for some reason.
The recovery_ramdisk parition does not exist on EMUI 5.
Just ignore the error it gives in the console, as we already have TWRP installed anyway, and press enter.
"fastboot reboot", once your phone boots, "adb reboot recovery"
Once your phone boots into TWRP, press enter.
Enter 2 and press enter. (Using the Script)
Enter 1 and press enter. (Change Firmware)
Press enter to continue, and your phone will reboot to TWRP and start flashing the required files.
Once the process is done, go to Reboot -> System, and you should be booting into EMUI 8 in some time.
EMUI 8 to AOSP 10 (REQUIRED FILES: Honor 6x EMUI 8 to AOSP 10.rar | 553.3MB)
"adb reboot bootloader"
Move all of the files in the [Honor 6X EMUI 8 to AOSP 10] folder to the [adb] folder.
"fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY-V2.img"
"fastboot reboot", once your phone boots, "adb reboot recovery"
"adb push -p system-quack-arm64-aonly-vanilla.img /sdcard/"
After that is complete, click on install -> install image button on the bottom right -> click [system-quack-arm64-aonly-vanilla.img] -> choose system image -> swipe to flash.
After the image finishes flashing, go to reboot -> fastboot
"fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img"
We are flashing our stock recovery back in order to be able to reset our phone properly.
Do not factory reset using TWRP as it will softbrick your device, and you will have to start over again.
"fastboot reboot", once your phone boots, "adb reboot recovery"
In the eRecovery, click on clear cache partition, wait for it to complete, then go back and click on factory reset.
The phone will then reboot and factory reset, which will fail, but it is fine, just click reboot and you should be booting into your new OS soon!

Include a way to get back to emui 8 from custom ones too that will be quite helpful.
EDIT : I opened a new thread of getting back to EMUI 8 if someone needs.

Hello, I am on a model GR5 BLL-L22 EMUI5 and I want to go up to Emui 8. Is it necessary that I first go down to Emui 2 then Emui 5 or can I directly go to Emui 8?

You can directly go to EMUI 8.
Thanks for the reply, I'm trying it out now and I'm an ultra noob. I have not yet unlocked my bootloader because I am afraid of not being able to connect to the machine anymore because each time I enter bootloader mode with the "adb reboot bootloarder" function my phone disconnects and the functions " fastboot devices "and" adb devices "no longer see it. I am using minimal adb and fastboot app and have already enabled usb debugging in my phone. I do not know if it's normal

Check the link in post 6. Install the drivers from attachments of that post.
That's because you don't have the right drivers(Huawei COM) installed.

You have to open the phone to access the Test Point. There's no workaround for this.
TBH, even I hate this step in the whole procedure but you have to do it. Sorry, theres no workaround.

I did not try using adb on EMUI 5 after unlocking bootloader. It worked perfectly for me on EMUI 8.
If you want to access bootloader or fastboot, turn off your device. Wait for some time. Press and hold Volume down button and plug in usb.
That will take you to fastboot mode.

How To Guide [ROOT] [FLASH STOCK]

DISCLAIMER:
Please post failures and successes. Keep it relevant, everything else to the DMs please. It makes it easier for others to Q&A. Everyone thanks you for your understanding.
***IF YOU ARE NEW BEWARE!!! BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING MAKE A BACKUP. LET THIS APPLY TO EVERYTHING. WHENEVER THE OPTION TO BACKUP IS AVAILABLE IT WOULD BE WISE TO DO SO. FAILURE TO BACKUP YOUR DEVICE WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF DATA***
ALL LINKS ALLOWED, APPROVED AND/OR UTILIZED BY XDA. SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THE DEVS WHO CREATED THE TOOLS WITHOUT WHICH THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE. I DIDN'T BUILD ANY SOFTWARE MENTIONED IN THIS POST. IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE, DO NOT BLAME ME. I'M NOT TELLING YOU HOW TO DO IT, BUT NARRATING A GUIDE TO HOW I DID IT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
REVVL V+ 5G TMOBILE VARIANT ANDROID 11
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE REPORTING LOSING WIFI AFTER ROOT, AS HAVE I. I HAVE NOT YET FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX THIS. I'M THANKFUL FOR ANY ASSISTANCE. FLASHED STOCK BOOT_A DIDN'T FIX IT, ONLY FLASHING BACK TO STOCK ROM. ON ANOTHER IDENTICAL PHONE DIDN'T LOSE WIFI. YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE. LOOKING INTO IT, NO PROMISES
Without further ado, let's start at the unboxing.
1) PREP PHONE:
power on. navigate to settings>about phone and tap "build number" seven times to enable developer options.
navigate to settings>system>developer options and enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM unlock"
FIRST disconnect the device from your comp THEN power the device off.
2) DONWLOAD PYTHON & DRIVERS:
Python
BE SURE TO TICK THE BOX THAT SAYS ADD PYTHON TO PATH and install.
Download and install mediatek drivers from here:
Mediatek USB drivers
Download and install UsbDk from here:
UsbDk
Download MTK client from here:
MTK client
and extract to the desktop. Open the folder and move everything to
C:>Users>[username]>AppData>Local>Programs>Python>Python310
In the 310 directory press Alt + D to highlight your directory path and type CMD and hit enter. This opens a command prompt in the Python310 directory.
In cmd type this command without "":
"python setup.py install"
Go make a sandwich. Preferably turkey with mustard.
When you finish your sandwich, come back and type this command without "":
"python -m pip install -r requirements.txt"
Do not exit the command window.
3) BOOT INTO B ROM MODE:
This is kind of tricky when you don't know it. The screen will will be black. Sometimes, the device will not even vibrate. There's no sunbathing android, no "No Command", no fastboot, no download mode, no recovery- nothing, nada, zip, zilch, goose egg.
Make sure you unplug the device entirely from charger and pc BEFORE you power off. Now that you properly powered off, hold ONLY BOTH volume + - keys while you connect it to your PC. Try to be quick about it. DO NOT TOUCH THE POWER KEY. Continue to hold the volume keys until you know your device connected. When you hear your device connected jingle immediately let go. The screen will remain blacked out and unresponsive. It's normal.
Let's make sure we did it right. Enter the following command without ":
"python mtk e metadata,userdata,md_udc"
Disconnect and power on. If the device has been reset, then you have confirmation.
4) PREP PHONE AGAIN (STEP 1):
5) UNLOCK BOOTLOADER:
Enter the following command without ":
"python mtk da seccfg unlock"
~To relock the bootloader in the future use command "python mtk da seccfg lock". If you flash a custom recovery/ROM and want to return to stock, then you must unroot with magisk first, then flash stock ROM with SP flash tool at the end of this post~
Power on. On the splash screen you will see system type:
"Orange State
Your device is corrupted. Device has been unlocked and cannot be trusted. Press Power key to boot.
Will Reboot in 5 seconds."
This will happen each time you boot the device because your bootloader is now unlocked.
6) PREP PHONE AGAIN (STEP 1):
7) ENABLE ADB FASTBOOT COMMANDS:
Download sdk platform tools here:
sdk platform tools
Extract.
Navigate to the platform tools folder and type Alt+D to highlight directory and type CMD to open a cmd window in platform tools.
Connect device to pc and choose file transfer.
Enter the following command without ":
"adb devices"
A prompt will appear on your phone, click allow.
Enter the following command (again) without ":
"adb devices"
First you'll see a random, arbitrary number. Second time you should see your device serial number and "Authorized", "Allowed", or "Device".
Keep this cmd window open.
8) DOWNLOAD MAGISK AND PATCH BOOT IMG:
Download Magisk from here:
Magisk
Move it to your phone and install. You'll need to allow the installation from unknown sources.
Download firmware from here:
T-Mobile_REVVL_V%252B_5G.zip
Unzip and move boot_a to the downloads folder on your phone.
On your phone, open Magisk and click install and choose boot_a.
Make sure magisk_patched file is in your phone's download folder.
In your platform tools cmd window enter the following command without ":
"adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_[numbers].img"
9) ENTER FASTBOOT MODE:
Disconnect device and power off. Hold Vol - and power to enter fastboot mode.
Connect device to PC.
10) ACHIEVE ROOT:
***NOTE: IN THIS STEP YOU MUST LOCATE THE PATCHED FILE ON YOUR PC AND COPY AS PATH. PASTE IT IN THE CMD WINDOW IN PLACE OF "[path to patched file]"***
In the platform tools cmd window enter the following command without ":
"fastboot flash boot [path to patched file]"
Now that you've achieved root, you can play around a little bit. But be careful what you go deleting if you get debloat happy like me and delete your NVRAM & wifi. Just in case you do, here's how to return to stock.
NVRAM backup. This video makes it look easy as pie. (It IS easy)
NVRAM Backup Tutorial
Now we have to bypass DA else SP flash tool will not be able to flash ROM.
Open cmd window and type the following without "":
"python -m pip install pyusb pyserial json5"
Then, update by entering the following command without "":
"python.exe -m pip install --upgrade pip"
Download LIBUSB:
LIBUSB
Run LIBUSB Win 32 filter installer and select Mediatek driver
Enter B ROM mode and connect to PC
Navigate to bypass tool and open "brom.bat"
Close cmd...
Run "flash_tool.exe" in sp flash folder
Options>options>connection tick UART
That's it. Now you can flash with sp flash without encountering error
Here is a helpful link that came from a senior mod:

Extract and launch flash_tool application
Download scatter mt6833 here:

My next guide will be how to use assurance wireless with ANY phone. I'm using assurance wireless on my Oneplus N200 (DE2118).
Hi. I read many posts of yours regarding the REVVL V+ 5G, I was encouraged by your progress, and took comfort that someone else had some of the same struggles that I did. I was able to unlock the bootloader, I was able to root the phone (using an img file posted by someone else here; I hadn't yet read your root recipe), but I was no longer able to connect to wifi. (is this familiar?) In trying to undo the mess, I ended up making my phone unbootable.
I wanted to install stock ROM from scratch. I read your instructions, but there's no scatter file in the ROM that you posted. So I'm confused.
I figured that I could install the stock ROM zip via TWRP; I googled and found a TWRP for "Sprout" (the codename of our device), but for the life of me I couldn't install it on my phone, no matter what I tried.
You're ahead of me here; perhaps you can get me on track. Right now, my phone isn't booting at all.
Thank you!

i totally forgot, yeah, i will look up the proper method to install twrp. it's supposed to be easy. i thought i was going to have to port twrp-and i still might- so i'm looking into it. i need to flash twrp myself. there is supposed to be a way to use rom2box or spflash or twrp or something to make a flashable zip. i don't know if that's a thing. it seems to me somebody needs to build a preinstaller that automatically flashes each img. for you. like a 1 click. if we can get twrp on this, that's the next step. to make a flashable zip. or somehow one click installer. i imagine if i did, it would only work for this phone, but could be modified for similar devices. i know tcl has a software like that. they plug a phone up and click one button. on their end it's one folder and that program does the rest. that program is what i want to write. reverse engineer this shiz and get a complete understanding of it. i know good and well the folks at tcl aren't sitting on a cmd window using adb to flash dozens of duplicate images time and time again for each device they build. it's screw it together, plug it up, click a button and test. they already have all the files preloaded and they have a preinstaller that pretty much instantly flashes the software. damn, wouldn't it sure be nice to have? but i don't foresee anybody leaking it any time soon. maybe if you have the cheese

And may I ask for a clarification, please: You wrote above, "the firmware links i sent you- there should be at least 2 different ones, and an OTA... well, if you open the root folder and type 'scatter.txt' in the search bar it will pop up." In your post, I see 2 links to firmware; one is called https://www.mediafire.com/download/sxq4cz8bddmr49l, and one is called https://www.mediafire.com/file/irigs9iviy3sobw/T-Mobile_REVVL_V%2B_5G.zip/file. When your phone boots up do you see system font on the screen? It should prompt you to press power to boot normally, otherwise it will continue to reboot. It's because the bootloader is unlocked and you must press power to acknowledge this or else the phone will boot loop. Does this help? If not, get another phone and download magisk and try to patch boot_a again. You can use another device to do all those steps to get the file ready. Pull it, plug in your revvl v+ again and try flashing it. You can also try a different copy of the firmware, I linked 3. You can also flash stock boot_a and boot_b and that should get you going. I'm still figuring this device out. I advise you reach out to somebody who has a lot of experience flashing a/b partition scheme devices, namely mediatek. Project oppo. My only other suggestion is to flash the stock firmware using adb fastboot commands. In the forums you can find a guide to flashing a/b... So, just to be clear, recite to me exactly what you did up to the point it boot loops. And tell me is there system type on the screen when it boots?

So i Followed the guide exactly and everything seemed to work fine until i flashed the img modified by magisk. Fastboot said it moved and wrote successfully.
Then when i rebooted and hit the power button again to bypass the 'orange' warning instead of starting into a factory reset phone, it flashes the backlight and starts booting again.
Im also unable to get into recovery, fastboot mode is all that works now. I've tried to flash the stock boot_a img but not the boot_b, do you think that would help?
I'm gonna make a new img with my s9 and try that as you suggested.
Edit:
Well i might be handicapped.
I had 2 phones here, the V+ and the 6 pro.
Turns out i did youre walkthrough on the revvl 6 pro. It did unlock it, but obviously when i flashed the boot.img for the V+ it bricked. And i cant find the backup anywhere.
In short thanks for your time, I'm afraid all i did was waste it :\

The android version is still 11 with a security update from Dec 5, 2022.
I am just curious if there is a way to revert back to a previous version that might just work like the version listed for download. There could also be differences in the boot file that is in the firmware zip file from what is on my phone so patching and installing a different version won't work.
Maybe just waiting until the next version is releases would be the best option?

Perhaps that. In fact, that's what I'm waiting on- the a13 update. I intend to capture the OTA and follow the spflash walkthrough. Then I can update this how to where it'll work for everybody. I have 4 people right now with boot issues after root that go beyond WiFi, and they all 4 can't get spflash to work. It's bugging the crap out of me, I haven't been able to figure out what to do to fix it. I'm still waiting on some other folks I've reached out to, if they ever have the time...
