EE Wifi calling still work on custom ROM - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I want to unlock bootloader and root my replacement G4 but EE offer WiFi calling which is really handy for me. I assume it is just baked into their custom Firmware as it is only available to devices bought directly from them. I want to know can I have WiFi calling on custom ROM or if I root now will I be forever stuck on this old FW if I want to use this feature?

[Q] Straight talk S4 to TW Tmob

I am pretty sure this will work, but I want to make sure before I buy. Straight talk S4 is $250 brand new right now and I want to use it on T-mobile. I can flash with a touchwiz rom, put in my Tmob SIM and enable the Wificalling, correct? Wifi calling is essential since I don't have T-mob service at my house. Thanks!
You have to SIM unlock the phone first. Once you have that and rooted, you can flash a ROM with WiFi calling if you can't use it.
Bad part is that tracfone locked down this phone really good. Even with the Sim unlock code the phone does not get fully unlocked. Have to enter the code everytime you power on the phone. No 100% unlock method yet, you can flash a custom ROM, but that's about it. No radio flashing...etc.
can you rewrite the IMEI to it, that unlocks others like S4 M919 and several 9300 variants

[Q] Flashing Stock from another company?

So I'm on the same boat as several others, got a T-Mo S6 Edge to use on another network, bought the unlock code, doesn't work so I can't use it, however, the carrier I plan to use it on (Claro Dominicana) also has the device and I found their stock ROM online (http://www.mrcrab.net/viewstockrom/34045-sm-g925i.html) Would I be able to flash this, a 925i ROM into my 925t device without issues? As I understand the issue right now is that there are no unlockable ROMs for the Edge in the US.

NOTE 7 O2 firmware to EE firmware or WIFI calling alternative?

Hello i have a couple note 7 my personal one is o2 branded but i need ee firmware for wifi calling. i dont yet want to install custom firmware i wanted stock ee firmware but using a faulty note 7 to test with it seems i cant install a different firmware other than the latest firmware for this serial number... is this correct and have we had any solutions yet?
Thankyou for your time and patience in advance
if you are on O2 the network doesn't support WiFi calling other than over their tugo app. they have never been on the leading edge of tech, same reason they once told me 3G was a failed tech and would never catch on.
so unless you are actually on EE you can't get WiFi calling, even if you swap to an EE firmware.

For anyone interested I solved this issue by installing twrp, rooting, and installing the zip file from this guide it allowed me to choose my csc settings.

Any way to get wifi calling on unlocked s9?

Is there any way to get wifi calling on att with an unlocked s9 from best buy? Flashing att firmware or would it be best to get the att model? Must have wifi calling for work reasons and I hate all the bloatware but might not have a choice.
at&t probably blocks it, if you don't get their version. I have an unlocked, but on T-Mobile, and it works.
I flashed the AT&T firmware on my unlocked S9 and wifi calling and video calling worked.
With the stock firmware on the unlocked S9 nether option was there
Can you point me in the direction of a download for the stock firmware for AT&T? I'm wanting to do the same as well, but feeling pretty clueless about where to obtain it. thanks!
Same here. It works for me on T-Mobile
If I flash the att firmware will I still get firmware updates?

if you flash the att firmware or buy it straight from att you will end up a device supporting the same capabilities. So it's down to your tech skills or budget.
Where can I find the latest att firmware? I did not see it on sammobile.
How to
Step 1 Go to this thread for Firmware (thanks @iBowToAndroid)
You will want to go to the link for the U firmware and find the folder with the AT&T userdata file (RB7) download the user data file and the full firmware.
Step 2 Go to this thread to get the modified version of Odin that recognizes the GS9 firmware files. (Thanks @mweinbach and Raymondf )
You will then flash the downloaded files from Step 1 in Odin, after flashing the firmware the phone will boot into recovery and you will need to wipe data and cache.
Thanks so much... that did actually help me... as a fairly tech savvy person who doesn't really get into this stuff much, the lingo I didn't know was leading me astray... I had come across that thread but didn't recognize it as anything that would help me. Thanks again! Onward to bricking my phone!

Thanks for the info. A follow-up question: is it possible to flash it back to the stock unlocked firmware? The reason is that I'll need to use foreign SIM card when I travel overseas.

I have unlocked version on TMobile and wifi calling works just fine.
Do you have to flash the att firmware to the unlocked version in order to get VoLTE? I don’t care about WiFi calling, just hd calling and being able to stay on lte when making a call, rather than have it drop to HSPA during the call.

Probably wont last. Unless att has an imei number from an wifi calling att phone on that account it will eventually go away.

I understand, but unless att has changed its policies in the last month, if u do not have an imei number on that account that is an att phone with wifi calling it will turn itself off as soon as your phone is interrogated by the network. Theres 100 threads on it , applies to unlocked s8, s7, etc...
Toggle is there because of firmware, not because it works.

That's the way it's supposed to work.
Any help/guidance for me??
I have tried a few times to use the March 2018 RB7 files with the ATT user data to get my phone to ATT stock - primarily for the Enhanced LTE (data and voice at the same time), as well as Wifi Calling. I can't get that version to load. I did get a more recent version to load (RK1) - and maybe that is the issue. Just wondering if there is a newer set of files and what specifically I should use (AP,BL... UserData) to get the phone fully set to AT&T. I now have the wifi calling option, just can't get it enabled. Any help is appreciated.

When you try to enable it do any of the AT&T Wifi calling configuration screens pop up?
