I am saying that battery life is incredible ... but I noticed when I charge the phone using fast charging from like 10% to 100% then it is loosing capacity much faster ... that is it ... I am still satisfied

Interesting, thanks.

I disabled fast charging since on my S6 Active it used to make the phone insanely hot and actually started burning the cable at the point where it connected to the phone.
That being said, I'm actually really impressed how fast this phone charges with just a usb cable from a computer or car usb port. Very fast charging without 'fast charging' enabled.

Charging speed.
There is only a 10 minutes difference between fats charging on and off on my s7. Is that normal?

It charge 0-60% quick but after that it charge normal speed.

I've also noticed that.. I thought was something with me, or it was just a feeling from myself!
But now I've seen more people dealing with same "problem" (if we can put it that way)!
When I charge with Fast Charging ENABLE, the S7 seems to drain battery faster then when I charge with Fast Charging DISABLE!

Totally agree! I had SOT time till yesterday about 2-3h...and yesterday i had to charge my phone with regular 2A 5V charger at work...takes 30 minutes more time but SOT was allmost 7 hours

I'm not comfortable with how hot my phone gets while fast charging. Reading this, I'll try turning it off. I'm also uncomfortable with how hot wireless charging makes my phone. I doubt I'll use it much unless the micro USB port goes.

How much time do you keep your phone in charging?
Mine is charging in 1 hour and 45 minutes, but i keep it 2 hours. ( I disabled Fast Charging )

maybe to reduce heat, don't wait until phone is <66% battery level to charge it up ?

About 1h wifi charging

Using QC2.0 charger is really quick.

Charges pretty fast, I turned off quick charging because my phone gets very warm.
10% in about 10-20 minutes?

I use volt meter with fast charge on get arount 1.7a and with fast charge off around 1.3a. It's pretty fast even fast charge is off

What wireless charger are you guys using?! Specifically you guys with hot phones. The reason I ask is because my s6 use to get hot using the standard samsung fast wireless charging pad. Now with the newer Samsung fast wireless charging stand it is cooler to touch. I also noticed there is a fan runing being the pad.
Perhaps the fan is helping keeping the phone cooler then other pads?!

But, with fast charge it uses about 9 volts wich means a max of about 15 watt.
without fast charge it uses about 5 volts which means a max of about 6,5 watt
So less then half max power without fast charge..
I haven´t seen the phone getting more then 1,4 amps on 5 volt even with stock charger..

Just nowI tried and get this. No idea @@

Battery Charging Rate

Hi, I just had my SGSII for couple of days and noticed inconsistent battery charging rate which I've ruled out that is not charger/cable dependent. So I would like to ask if anyone have similar issue or could offer an explanation.
Basically I use the phone charges sometimes at 20%/hour, and sometimes at 40%/hour. I've been using both the samsung stock charger & iphone's 2A charger and there is no correlation between the charging rate & the charger I use. I use debloated Samsung ROM and the faux kernel.
The only other explanation that it could be is that when I get 40% charging rate, I was using 7b4(I think, not entirely sure), at 20%/hour, i was using stock, faux 7r2 or 9r.
below are the screen shot, among 5 times I've charged the phone #2 & #3 were at 40%/hour, the rests were at 20%/hour:

The device will charge the fastest when it is turned off. If you are streaming music, tethering and running other applications, it will obviously charge slower.
My phone has always been on idle when it's being charged so far. what's your charging rate?

Depends on what the phone is doing. If its idle and there are a lot of background processes going on, the rate is slower.

I believe it has to do with chargers in my case.
Since October I've used only two chargers the Samsung one that comes with the phone and my Kindle 1 charger.
Samsung: 40-50%
Kindle: 10-20%
90% of the time the phone is idling.
alright, i charged the phone again using the the stock charger, and it was about 40%/hour on standby mode. Weird I thought I tested it using the OEM charger and it was also 20%/hour. guess I remember it wrong...
ahh.. .here finally found the original topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332522&highlight=charging
there was a lot of good info on that one, as well as some unexplained behaviour, the same you are trying to figure out
all i know is that yes 2A charger does work, regardless of what the tester shows
and the Battery Widget App, i use it too, and i have to agree it's not very accurate, as it will only show you the actual rater after 2 minutes of charging it
however it's very close to the real values, specially when it's charging and the current flow, i get readings that matches the input quality of the charger, as in USB, Wall, 1 Amp, 2 Amp, 0.7 Amp, 0.45 Amp and so on
there is also the possibility of risking to be stuck at 100% when not using them OEM charger. I have couple of 3rd party charger lying around, so I'm going to try them one by one and see which one works. At least now i know that the apple charger does not work well with the phone(at least the older one, stuck at 100% after charged, and slow charging rate despite it's rated at 1.5Ah+, going to try my newer ipad2 charger).
as for the 100% stuck, as some other have pointed out it only happens when you use AC chargers of any kind
charging via USB doesn't cause the problem
using the original Samsung AC to USB charger also does not cause the problem simply because it's still using USB charging
i had another original OEM Samsung charger that i plugged in and it was also causing the 100% stuck issue, so it's just some sort of confirmation the phone seems to be expecting from a USB power/data cord but is not found on an AC power cord

Battery Problem (Charging and Draining)

I got my Note 10.1 2014 Edition yesterday. I noticed out of the box that it was draining extremely fast. When I put it on the charger, it charged very slow.
I put the tablet on the charger while I slept (6hrs), the tablet did not even charge fully. Only to 88%.
Anyone have battery drain or slow charging issues?
it's possible you have a bum unit. are you using the supplied charger and cable? some cables aren't high enough quality to sustain the higher charge rate and of course some chargers don't output enough power.

Yes, I am using the 2 AMP charger. I have it fully charged now. I am going to test it for the next day or so and it see how it performs. I will report back.
Mine also seems to charge really slow and drain way faster than my 2012 model. I noticed that the AC adapter gets really hot. I've tried with two USB cables and no such luck in improving anything. I don't know what's going on here. I need to some objective comparison testing but this just doesn't feel right to me.
I couldn't get to 100% on the initial charge until after I turned it on. It kind of just hung there in that 88% area.

so far I'm at 1 day 6.5 hrs with 5.25hrs screen and at 38%. not ag good as the old note, but the old gn101 wwasn't as purdy!
Charging and drain
Mine took a charge over night but the battery drains fast. I noticed that the auto brightness is set way too low. Perhaps that's how they got the claimed hours of use.
It does charge pretty slow, I'm surprised they didn't include a micro usb 3.0 like the note 3. I noticed last night that when I was plugged in to the included charger and streaming a video from chrome, it actually drained battery rather than charged. Even using it with lighter tasks significantly slows down charging, making it almost a requirement to charge it overnight.
It drains relatively quickly but if i can get 6+ hours of screen on time, between that and my phone it should last me more than a day of heavy use.
until the battery drains to 80% it's at trickle/slow charge. below 80 it charges full power. mine took 3.5hrs from 20 to 100. it took 2hrs 20 min to go 20 to 80 then 1.5 hrs for the last 20%.
Charging and drain
I noticed it drains quickly for the first 15 or 20% but lasts much longer after that. So I can only think that it's not reading the charge evenly.
I experienced a similar issue today. Had it plugged in overnight and most of the morning. Went to unplug it earlier and it was frozen at 83%. That was after about 12 hours of charging. I plugged it in around 40% last night.
The first two nights charged to 100% fine.
when i first got the note it kept getting stuck at 64% but the next day i charged it completely.
this has definitely got to be the reason one of those reviews said it's 7hrs to full charge.
i haven't taken the update yet so i'm assuming the some of you guys have and it's not changed anything. i haven't had any issue yet, but i also haven't had a need to recharge yet.
Old thread, but I am running into two issues:
1. I agree on the drain, but will use for another week to see how things go. So far the battery drain is considerably more than the iPad 4 and Dell 5130.
2. I can not find a spare cable that will allow slow charge through a computer USB. Cables allow MTP, but there is an X on the charge symbol. I tried charging while asleep and when shut off and same result. Not charging.
One of the reasons I got this was not to have to rely on keeping the charger with me like some other Android tablets.

[Q] Can Lollipop update cause these issues

Today I updated my galaxy tab S to 5.0.2 stock. I've had two issues with the update, by the way I'm using the LTE version, one is really slow charging like 10 to 15% an hour slow, And the other is at the fingerprint sensor keeps failing on me asking me to restart.I just keep tapping okay and eventually it will be back to normal really annoying an popping of these dialog boxes to go away I just keep tapping okay and eventually it will be back to normal. I'm not sure about the finger scanner BEFORE the update, but I can tell you I've never dropped it, while charging seemed to be at 25-30 an hour before. Normal or strange?
It sounds like you might need to recalibrate the battery, you can download free apps from the play store that delete the battery calibration data and then you do a full discharge and charge to make a new one, you need to be rooted.
There is a way to recalibrate without be rooted, but it has to be done manually just ask.
The calculation below are just a guess as i never fully charge my 10.5" and have now done about 170 days without restarting it, never since i got it.
I have the 10.5" and it has an 7900mah battery, and it charges at 1800ma till it hits 80% then it slows down, so using a battery charge time calculator it will take me 5H to go from 0% to 80%
If you have the 8.4" as it has an 4900mah battery, if it charges at 1800ma to 80% , it will take 3H to go from 0% to 80%
It`s the last 20% that take the longest to finish as the charge rate is reduce lower and lower till it hits 100%, so i only ever charge my 10.5" to 80% plus it`s better for the battery.
I use GSam Battery Monitor to sound an alarm when the charge hits 80%

Samsung charger is broken, with an LG charger it shows max at 1800 mA, so there's the problem. Thanks!
Great that you have found your problem, did you fix the fingerprint sensor problem you were having?
Also that LG charger are you using, do you have the model number? , as it`s hard to find non Samsung chargers that charge fast.
Thanks
John.

Well I don't need sugar+caffeine, but regarding the phone it takes at least 100 minute to charge from 1% to 100% on a power socket. On a USB port - I have not tried yet, but it could take double the time I guess.
Pretty crappy. This thing pulls about 1.2mA from the socket and therefore takes a while to charge up. Say about 2 hours to full from 10-15%.
Max amp draw I get. Same with a 10w USB charger or the one plus stock.

5% to 100% i only need 1 hour 40 minutes something. So its fine with me.
1.5 hours. Pretty fast
Better than Galaxy S3 (my former phone)
120 Minutes (2 Hours) from 5% to 100% for me.
90minutes from 0 to 100℅ which seems pretty fast to me as compared to other phones with "fast charge" which can take take 2h45m for full charge(4000mah)
Hi folks,
Last night, my oneplus X took almost 4 to 5 hours from 0 to 97% (not really 100%!). I noticed this degradation of charging since a couple of months, but i can not figure it out if it came from the battery or from the charger. I tried with another charger, and it takes almost the same time...
And also my battery seems to be less efficient, so i have to consider to replace it or there is another solution ?
Thanks

Well, this is an unfortunate tell of events. Onyx has a very very inaccurate fuelguager and it doesn't seem to adjust with time so as the battery degrades, it gets dramatically worse. I too have the sane issue and no matter what I do to circumvent this in my kernel sources, it always pops back up.
Point being, there really isn't a solution though I do soon hope to take a closer look at the fuelguager and rewrite bits of it in my kernel to improve its accuracy

I had the same issue. At some point charging became very slow. But if it's decharging at a normal rate, then it's not the battery.
In my case, getting the charging port repaired at a local phone repair shop did the trick. Now charging from 0 to 100% doesn't take 4 hours anymore, but again 1.5 to 2 hours.
enable USB fast charging in Kernel aduitor that also helps.
Keep mobile data off when charging that also speeds up charging.
Not sure if the phone is old. It seems slower to charge. 2 to 2.5 hours with no usage during charging.
Anyone face this?
On lineage 15.1 june build and usb fast charge enabled. Using stock charger.

Then, try to unactivate USB debugging and check again (after plug / unplug).

Quick charge problem?

Guys, just quick question. Today morning I plug my phone to the original charger (phone was totally discharged (switched off)) and after boot it said me "Quick Charging, fully charged after 3 hours". Bloody hell, is it any type of joke? I thought that quick charging feature is about quick charging, isn't it? Next problem which I have last time (the day before yesterday probably) was that phone told me "fully charged after 1 hour and 20 minutes" but it took almost 2 hours. I use original nexus charger.
Has anyone the some experience with this type of "fast" charging?
Thanks in advance.
My phone charges slowly only when i use it plugged in to the wall...Make sure the slow charge is a software issue and not a hardware, try to calibrate the battery and if it doesn't work try to flash the stock google images (do a backup before flashing),finally, send as a screenshot of your battery stats while charging to see how bad your device charging rates are!...

If your screen is on or the battery is warm, it will charge much slower.
I suggest you leave the screen turned off and let it charge, and check back in 30minutes to see if the charge time has updated to reflect a faster charging rate.
Should charge perfectly fine if you have the screen off and don't use it. I regularly go 15% to 90% in 60 minutes.

It's cause you started at near 40%. All fast charging has basically three levels that tapers from fastest to slowest. Basically in simplest terms it's 0-40% full fast charging, 40-80% regular charging, 80-100% slowest. There's actual numbers with mAh readings for exact details but no need for that. It does this for temperature control. It's also why a lot of fast charging tech advertise 0-80% times. That last 20%, especially 90-100%, is way slower than any other part. So to get the most of fast charging it's actually best to use your phone down to a low reading like 15-20%. As you can see, you end up wasting time trying to charge like you did compared to my screenshots. Essentially you're able to use you phone longer and yet be plugged in for a short period.

Mathematically that is correct, but for longer battery life expectancy (over time), they suggest you charge 50-90% even though it is less efficient in terms of amount of time spent charging.
So I tested charging for one hour starting at 40% and it actually did a little better than what you're getting. Went 40-93% in 60 minutes.
I still suggest starting around 15-20% though because as you can see, 60 minutes of uninterrupted charging gets you to 90% whether starting at 15% or 40%.

Guys, thanks for your effort. I will be trying to find the best way of charging. Even though energy efficient could by better in Google's Nexus I think. I have problem to stay charged 24 hour in a row. Maybe the reason is that I did just maybe 10 charging cycles and the battery is still to new and is still formatting, who knows.

Guys, thanks for your effort. I will be trying to find the best way of charging. Even though energy efficient could by better in Google's Nexus I think. Yeah if you check the battery life thread you'll see people getting various hours of battery usage. Personally, I'm always topping off when I get home from work for about 30 minutes or so (I always shower when I get home) and end with plugging in while sleeping.

Thanks in advance.

in my experience, everytime I had trouble with fast charging (Zenfone and Nexus 5x) was a matter of faulty cable. try to replace your old one. in most cases, processors are kinda super sensitive about the "health" of the cable and won't let the magic happen it's happening to me in these days with my QC2.0 car adapter.
