custom kernel for galaxy j200F - Samsung Galaxy J2 Questions & Answers

Hello
I need a custom kernel with selinux permissive for my galaxy j200 F
anyone can help me to find it ?

Hi,
Could I have your boot.img file? I'll try to build it one.
Edit: I'm currently building the permissive kernel now, but I need ramdisk from your boot.img to complete the build.

where can I find it ?

Try pull with this adb command (as root):
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=dev/block/mmcblk0p9 of=/mnt/sdcard/boot.img
exit
adb pull /mnt/sdcard/boot.img
I'm actually searching for it but no luck, unless I download 1 GB+ stock firmware just for a single boot.img file.
Edit: mmcblk0p9 is the BOOT partition on I9500, but since J200F has an Exynos SoC it should work too.

Yeah. That's it.
Please test this. Unpack then flash via Odin and after that, screenshot the SELinux status on Settings > About Phone.

So I had to root my phone again

This message is displayed in the smart manager.
And when I restarted the phone, the phone goes into recovery menu and the phone is turned off.
And by removing and re-insertion of the battery, the phone is turned on again
Sent from my SM-J200F using Tapatalk

Yeah. It comes from Knox. Disabling Knox will stop this annyoing message, either via launching SuperSU or by debloating ROM to remove all Knox libraries.
And thanks for testing it! I'll release the first version of my kernel ASAP.

On the first release, I'd change only the name tagging to KudTW-r1 so you could safely use the test build I made yesterday. BTW, is the kernel version showing the correct name (3.10.9-KudTW-test)?
I'll start to push changes on r2. Test build attachment removed from now and so on.

I have a question
The main boot file is about 8 MB in size.
But the file that I've extracted by adb command approximately 13 MB in size.
What is the reason ??

Because it's compressed. I used mkbootimg_tools to extract it on my Xubuntu machine and it's approximately 11.5 MB (in binary size).

If you can read Chinese, go to China Stock Forum and you will understand where to be changed.
I roughly translated the updated log by English but please realize my English is just basically...
(1)Improve the experience of using Camera. Make it more easily.
(2)Improve performance when multitask is operating at background and make system laggy.
(3)Improve system stability.
(4)Improve security issue and includes the google lastest security update.
Does this rom fix the sync issue? Such as whatsapp, viber, etc notification issue..
I think yes. Because I received annoying mention in my notification notice after flashing it and cannot get quiet

Oh I have found it: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298983999

Dirty flashed over Noobuilds and the only issues are that Bluetooth crashes and it encrypted my device, but can live with that, especially given that I dirty flashed a completely different version of android

Well it works, but I've gone back to my original rom only I'm not sold as to whether or not this is a genuine Android 8 rom as I noticed it making mention of Android 7.1.1 when installing. Also surprised that it would install over the top of a 7.1.2 AOSP based rom with no issues as such.
I could be wrong of course!!

It's just a build fingerprint in lineage.mk and doesn't make any sense for Google only released Android 7.1.1 for Nexus 9.
And LOS15 is in the early stage so there won't be much difference between AOSP and LOS I think

Can you post the file /fstab.flounder ?
If the problem is the option "forceencrypt" that needs to be replaced with "encryptable" in fstab files it's very easy to do. For instance with a zip that I made some time ago that disable forceencryption and dm_verity.

Typically, it will. dm-verity/verified boot is a kernel feature, hence completely related to boot.img. :good:
The file will probably patch your current boot and disable forced-encryption.

The zip will extract boot.img, replace fstab and will repack again. Check the script boot/editramdisk.sh, as you can see it replace the word forceencrypt to encryptable. All the scripts were took of FIRE-ICE or ElementalX I believe, I only removed all the parts related to zImage...
I can't flash now Lineage to test this zip, so if you can't wait, make a backup and try. All should be fine, but I don't know if anything changed in boot.img parameters (like pagesize, ramdisk_offset, tags_offset, etc...)
So far this ROM is awesome! The only bugs I've found yet are face unlock and NFC not working. Anyone who doesn't care about those issues can use this ROM as a daily driver. I'd never dreamed of such a stable unofficial 8.0 ROM until I found this one, since speaking of third-party ROMs Tegra sucks (e.g. Two gens of Nexus 7, the 2012 version with Tegra received 6.0 port while the 2013 version with Snapdragon received 7.0 port) and Google abandoned updating Nexus 9. Great thanks to the OP!

There is no chance of hard bricking whatsoever by simply flashing a system image.
Use TWRP for what it's for, backing up then flash whatever you want.

Hi dr460nf1r3,
I tried flashing twrp from this post several times after reseting by flashing a stock firmware, but every after flashing twrp, my device just boot loop and wouldn't get into OS. I downloaded system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img from here and flashed it, boot loop still appeared.
Details of my trying:
1. Reset device by flashing one of below stock firmware:
2. Make sure OEM unlocked, go to download mode, untick 'Auto reboot' in and then flash twrp_3.2.3-2_sm-t830_26918.tar with AP slot in .
3. Press volume up and Power buttons to go to twrp, at this , internal storage is not accessible, but I have an external micro sd card, which is accessible in twrp.
4.
a. If I reboot device, boot loop happens.
i. If I flash system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img to twrp's system partition, the flash is ok, but boot loop still happens.
b. If I flash TabS4_oreo_forced_encryption_disabler.zip and format data and then reboot to twrp, internal storage is accessible now, like below:
i. If I flash system-arm64-aonly-gapps-su.img in twrp's system partition, the flash is ok, but boot loop still happens.
boot loop screen:
I really want to flash a gsi rom because I'm a android developer, and firmwares mess up numbers of system code therefore is unfriendly to debugging. On the contrary, devices keep their numbers of code accurately same with system code in android sdk.

I mean: replace on full file rom (like stock rom). Because if i flash ur kernel after flash full rom, my banking apps couldnt work (because they know my phone is rooted). So i want flash ur kernel and stock rom in one time. Sr for my poor english. Hope u can touch my mind

I guess rooting using Magisk and then using MagiskHide will help for hiding root from your banking apps
To the dev:
Is this kernel version 5.1?
Also does camera work on the F62 after unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom kernel and stuff?

Root by using magisk to patch the ap file.
And flash it using odin.
BTW kernel v6.0 is better

Thanks I'll do that. Secure Folder is overrated imo so I'll just go ahead and trip Knox.
Also I'll be sure to try the kernel for the Android 12 build for this phone.

Is there a version of TWRP available for the phone? I might be doing something wrong and wasn't able to root using Odin and magisk and so it'd be easier to just flash using TWRP. Bootloader is unlocked btw.
can this file use for m62 also? cause cannot find file for m62 u2 only u1
