Does the Z5P have a built in sony branded screen protector like the older phones? - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the Z5 Premium have sonys built in with the logo plastic screen protectors already installed?
I know my older Sony phones had this on top of the glass display and it was really annoying.
How durable is the screen and glass back? I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 without any screen protector and its been holding up well, I heard the sony scratches really easy?

no extra protective layer preinstalled.
Don't know about durability, been using glass-protectors from day one

Official Sony screen protectors from Japan for Xperia S

Hey guys I just recieved and applied the official Sony screen protector for the Xperia S from Japan and it is THE BEST. It is MUCH better quality than the one included in the box of the Xperia S.
I am not referring to the pre-applied anti-shatter sheet, I covered that up like you are supposed to with the screen protector included in the box. After recieving this new one, I just removed that screen protector with a piece of scotch tape and after some cleaning and polishing of the area the old screen protector did not cover I applied the new Sony one from Japan once again over top the anti-shatter sheet and wow what a difference.
To begin with, this screen protector covers EVERYTHING. The one included in the box left a sizeable portion uncovered at the top that looked a bit ugly. This one covers everything and only has a perfectly cut hole for the earpiece speaker and the camera.
I chose the anti-fingerprint model and it really DOES work well. You have a choice of four official Sony screen protectors from Japan.
Crystal clear model:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OFFICIAL-SON...851041?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item19d2627821
Anti-reflective model:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OFFICIAL-SON...801253?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4605031ea5
Anti-fingerprint model:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360472813244
Privacy model:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/OFFICIAL-SON...802510?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item460503238e
However note that the privacy model doesn't cover the bezel, just the actual display area. If you want the privacy model and you want to protect the entire bezel you should apply it over top of the crystal clear model.
Damn i really wanted this things.
But sadly i dont know how to buy from eBay )
Im in Indonesia.
Thanks

I'm curious - with the anti finger print model is it a matte finish? Any difference in the screen quality (e.g. brightness, crispness, clarity)?
I've been doing a lot of reading and from what I have read is that the anti - fingerprint ones do degrade the quality of the screen. Would be interested in the one you mentioned and would be willing to spend the coin don't want to end up with something that in my opinion is sub-par.
I would love a matte screenprotector. The protective matte foil that was on the phone when it first arrived (the one you're supposed to peel off almost right away) felt amazing.

Is a screen protector really necessary?

Since the ZL already comes with a decent one on it, (the sony logo is actually on the screen protector.) I don't see the point in getting one. I just bought a zaggshield but didnt like how it changed the feel of my device so I trashed it. I considered this one which is a thin actual glass shield,
http://www.spigen.com/sony-xperia-z-screen-protector-glas-t-premium-tempered-glass.html but even on the review featured on the ordering page they said it did add some weight since it's glass and collect some dust around the edges which is understandable. Simply put, I dont think the ZL really needs a screen protector, obviously it will help and in the case of the glass shield above, take the brunt of impact if you drop it but otherwise I think the stock shield is decent enough, thoughts?
The ZL's anti-shatter film that you're referring to scratches really easily. I actually sent mine back because of it. Putting a Skinomi over the film from day one solved the problem on the new one.
I think you should put a second on top, because the already applied scratches easily. And the Sony logo is NOT on the screen protector.
The XZ does have the logo on the screen protector, XZL doesn't.
Get a protector that's oleophobic.
The grease marks are unbearable on the standard protector.
Actually the factory applied screen protector does not have the Sony logo, the Sony logo is in below the glass itself, I know because I removed it to apply a Krussell one, which is by the way not bad at all, it adds a softer, kind of couchy feeling to the screen. I didn't like how easily scratched the stock one could be, now this one is good but I still get the fingerprints, I am looking for a new, oleo-phobic one.
EDIT: The rumor about the logo being applied on the screen protector came from some Xperia Z (not the ZL) having it printed on the screen protector, but again they were preproduction units, I have yet to see an actual production unit with that kind of screen protector.

The production Z has the Sony Logo on the anti-shatter film - mine's a week old.
Can you prove that the ASF on the ZL does NOT have the Logo on it? Reason for asking is there are conflicting claims that it is and it isn't. Cheers.
Who cares about a logo really? haha
anyone have a tutorial to remove it?

[Q] Screen Protector?

I scratched my screen earlier today and so removed the stock protector which thankfully was the only thing scratched, screen is still good but I was wondering how tough is the naked screen against scratches?
I was thinking of getting another screen protector but firstly I suck at putting the thing on, and secondly not sure whats the better type to go. Ebay sell tons of cheap ones just not sure if they are any good, or would naked screen be ok?
Thanks :good:
I have a what you call a 'naked' screen xD
And since then I don't have any scratches which I had first. I'm happy I've done it

Naked screen. 18+ topic.
Powered by TVR with Android 4.1.2 on the board.
Cheap screen protectors are the ones that are a bit harder to put on. If you are prone to damaging phones get a screen protector, if not you could try it without one. Look at decent ones like spigen sgp series.

Jokes aside with naked screen but I would not recommend leaving screen without protector. Sony devices do not have screen as tough as other brands and it will be prone to cracks and scratches.
What I would do is go to your local mobile retailer/service centre and ask for good screen protector for your device. They usually carry different brands from cheapie foils to heavy duty screen protectors. They will also clean your screen with appropriate agent (like isopropyl alcohol) to get rid of any grease/dust and apply your protector for a small fee.
Unless you like trashy look of your handset I strongly recommend good screen protector and rubber case or flip-out case. Ever put your keys and small change in a pocket together with your phone? I would still use my ancient handsets if not my carelessness. I only change them when I destroy them by being stupid
What do you mean with stock screen protector? I bought my Ion in ebay with some scratches on screen but the screen does not look flat on borders.. Does it have a stock screen protector? What If i peal it off and damage the screen

If there is a thin layer (you need to look closely) that you can peel off then you can peel it and apply another fresh one. Peeling it will not damage anything but leaving 'naked' screen will expose it to scratches and cracks because it not only acts as a protective layer against scratches but also applies some surface tension to the screen that makes cracking or shattering it a bit harder.
There was a review of different kinds of handset screen glass and Sony generic scratch resistant mineral glass is not as tough as other phones with toughened screens (only Xperia J and SP have patented "gorilla glass" same as in HTC, iPhone, LG, Nokia and Samsung) and only latest Xperia models got upgrade to shatter proof and scratch resistant glass from undisclosed manufacturer.
Again, I recommend to buy a good screen protector instead of just cheap thin foil that will easily be torn when rubbing against car/home keys misplaced in your pocket.

using without a screen protector?

Just wondering how many of you are using without a screen protector?
I've always used one for years, but am getting frustrated with my current one. Wondering how safe it is to use without.

I never use screen protectors, bit a thin case and pouch for on the go...
I guess it depends on how careful you can be with your phone. I never use a screen protector but I'm always aware of where my phone is (i.e. not putting my keys in my pocket that has my phone in it) I also have a Google fabric case which let's me keep a good grip on the phone.

I also don't use a screen protector, or a case. But I'm careful with my phone and want to enjoy the device for what it was designed for. No since keeping it prestine just for the next owner.
Haven't used them since my blackberry days. Going fully naked with this phone. It's nice and grippy.
Don't use one, saving money in the long run as I'll just replace it myself for the cost of a screen protector. Besides, with the way on installing them now with UV light and LOCA glue, it's as labor-intensive as installing an actual screen.
Cases do a great job in preventing the screen from breaking anyhow.

This is exactly what I'm doing as well. Tried an IQ Shield "skin" type protector, but the edges lifted up which looked terrible to me. Also got the tempered glass protector from the Google store, and while that looked good it killed touch responsiveness so I removed it. Just going with no screen protector and the Google fabric case (which I think is my favorite case ever on any phone) and all has been good.

I use one only because I am around fine particulates like dirt and metal shavings daily. Whitestone dome. The only drawback is when playing fps games, it sometimes registers ghost touches.
I didn't use a screen protector or case with my HTC EVO 4G, GSII and GSIII (Until I broke the screen). Then started using a screen protector and case (For drop protection not really scratch protection) for my GS5 and Nexus 5X. Since none of the cheap screen protectors fit well for the Pixel 2 XL, I've been without one since October and it's been scratch free.

I use one, but not for shatter resistance. I use it to protect the screen from hairline scratches. The dirt on your skin will eventually scratch and scuff the screen to the point of being visible and I just can't stand permanent scratches on the screen surface.
I personally use a hybrid screen protector (flexible glass) because it's so much thinner than tempered glass and still feels like glass.

This. Hairline scratches and the oleophobic coating wearing off is why I always use a tgsp.
This is the 1st phone that I didn't use a screen protector on and as far as I can tell the screen still looks new after 6 months.
Comes down to how anal u are. If you can live with minor scuffs or scratches. Go protectorless. I cannot. This display is too beautiful and how the phone is holding its value. Imma keep it fresh to get a good price when P3XL comes out. So I tried 3 different ones before settling on Whitestone. Which looks and feels like the natural screen.
G
Protector all the way considering how easy this phone is to scratch Gorilla Glass 5 is trash.
I've always put screen protectors on my phones ever since the purchase of my very first one. As the user mentioned above, it's less for the screen shattering but more so for preventing hairline scratches.
I've only been able to find wet apply protectors that work best; every other glass protector on Amazon has had really bad reviews for not sticking on the edges.
If anyone has good recommendations for a glass protector (or even that flexible glass mentioned above) please let me know where you got it from!
This wet apply protector sticks very well to the edges unlike the standard glass protectors available, however there is that classic Orange Peel effect and the screen looks a bit grainy under light or white backgrounds.
The only screen protector I've been able to find with good reviews is the one with that UV light install and it's about $60, way too much for a protector in my opinion.

Screen protector

Hi,
can someone suggest me a screen protector for xperia 5 II that covers the whole display?
I read a lot of reviews about screen protectors that are smaller than the screen due to the curved edges.
Actually I have a Spigen that covers the whole screen, but I want to try a new one.
Thanks in advance
The one i have covers the full screen but the touch sensitivity at the sides are bad. Looking for recommendations for full screen that does not affect the side sensitivity.

I use one made by polish company, its also not a glass one so you might not fancy it, but it has some cool stuff to it, like self regeneration(it kinda does that), 99% germ cancelling(confirmed by some polish government company, and tested by some european one with certificates) its sleek and doesnt change colors nor does it interfere with touch, the protector is 3mk SilverProtection+ im darn happy with it, but it might be hard to get outside Poland, although still worth a try. I also use spigen clear armor case

Good value, seem to do its job.
Covers the flat part of the screen there is a a gap - as expected.
If you do not fit it perfectly, there may be a part that is not glued to the screen.
Quality seem good, maybe a little sharp edges.
I got what I expected, it may not be what you want though.
The fullscreen protectors are hard to fit and come off more easily. Some cases are hard to use with fullscreen protectors too (and I take off the case often).
The protector in combination with a Caseology Vault makes it harder to side sweep and to use side sense. Sensitivity for side sweep should be set to highest. I am not happy with this.
