I've read motorola will unlock bootloader at year end. But, perhaps it's too late :\.
Briefly, by unlocking bootloader, we'll be able to change kernel version and so a better modding ( if developers want... ).
Anyway, there are some thread concerning the same topic.
If you search, you'll get further information though.

[Q] verizon m7 sense 6 update caused root failure on weaksauce plz halp me justincase

What's going on xda? I wanted to post this in the developer forum, so that possibly Ya know, a developer would see it and read it but the site said "no" so I have to post here. I had my phone rooted with weaksauce I was gonna go all out and unlock the boot loader and s-off but weaksauce made it so easy to have root access I was pretty satisfied with just that for a little while at least. Then I got an update Download from Verizon. I pressed where it said update now. I was curious. I'm sorry, anyway now I have the Verizon version of sense 6.0 and weaksauce shows me root failure when it runs. It's been like this for quite some time now and I've been searching around for any info on it but I'm the only person who has made a post about it so far. Other people also have this problem, I made a post on android forums and many others are sharing the same issue. Developers please. Let me know if you share the problem or know the solution or if you are currently working on the solution because I am getting slightly impatient. Thanks
Why not post this in Verizon HTC ONE forum? There you will receive more help.

If it was actually that simple I would have already done that. I have a VERIZON m7. Weaksauce was the only root method I tried that worked, so it's not that I'm too lazy to search around for the correct thread, it's that that correct thread doesn't exist yet so I just keep making threads on different android forums until I flood the internet with my words and someone finally notices.

Whats Going on? What is going on is that you really didnt pay attention to the rules when you joined. Had you then you would know why you cant post in the Dev forums. You would also know that had you posted this in the dev forums, it would have been deleted on site.
Now I am gonna move this to the proper device forums and advise you to take another look at the rules before you post again.
Basically, you are SOL until Firewater/Weaksauce/Towelroot is made to work on our latest OTA.
Had you run Firewater when you had root, prior to updating, you would have been able to update and retain s-off and root.
Since you didn't, you are now stuck without root until/when/if an updated method/exploit is posted.

Dude, keep moving it if it makes you feel important. The rules really are not my main concern on this site, I had a question it got answered pretty directly after about 4 useless "this has to be moved" posts now I'm going to continue to wait. You guys are like maids for this site do they pay you well? Is it just fun for you to move threads to the correct place? pretty much: LOL @ false sense of entitlement thread police

Your thread got answered after it was moved to the right place, so that mod with "a false sense of entitlement" is the only reason you got a accurate reply.
Your call, but a bit of appreciation for those who keep this site running and volunteer to help is never a bad thing. Running a site of this size is not an easy task.

Wow so let me get this straight. You come to a development sight and want to ask a question? Tthen you post in the wrong section so you get the least amount of answers. So not only does a mod come along and move it to the proper place so you have a chance of getting an answer, but tells you where you messed up instead of just deleting your post. So you proceed to call names and insult me? Then break the rules again. Well how about this. The next time you decide to insult someone you will be banned from the site and then you be stuck with what ever simple minded questions you may have. Take this as your only warning. I would normally just remove you from the site for good but I am in a good mood today so I will let this one slide.

When rooting a g3 with purpledrake, where did permaroot.bin & temproot.bin came from?

When rooting a g3 with purpledrake, where did permaroot.bin & temproot.bin came from?
First of all, I'm new to xda-developers' forums, so this thread is a response to https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000 . If the rules against spam weren't so tough I would have posted a reply over there, but I hope someone will be willing to help me anyway.
I'm surprised that no asked this yet,
In the official website for LG's developers and specifically in the page regarding unlocking the bootloader, in the FAQ tab, it is explicitly explained that only a very specific set of devices will be supported for unlocking their boot-loader.
When I unlocked my HTC M8 through the guidance in https://www.htcdev.com , (I don't remember every detail of that process but) I do remember that HTC sent me a binary file very similar to permaroot.bin and temproot.bin that was the key to unlock the boot-loader. Now, I want to root my friend's lg g3 and I encountered purple drake's script as the only option the android community can provide. I just feel like we should question the integrity of these files because no one explains and no one asked yet where did he get these files?? After all they are the one who do all the magic..

[CLOSED] I'm going to try to get lineageos running on the SM-G975U, this method can possibly be used for other USA bootloader locked phones

I'm going to try to get lineageos running on the SM-G975U, this method can possibly be used for other USA bootloader locked phones.
As known a lot of resources are needed to build and analyze stuff so any paypal donations are welcome.
I have different idea's about how to unlock the bootloader or install LineageOS or get root
Donations will probably encourage me because otherwise i need to buy hardware and resources myself, i once wrote a rom for the Asus Zenwatch (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/webwear-2-0-android-wear-2-0-for-zenwatch.3592926/) but nobody would donate for the 100's of hours i put into it and i stopped working on it because people were complaining and not donating so that's why i'm asking.
Mod edit: PayPal link removed.

Greetings. In response to your statement, I will politely ask you to refer to XDA Rule #8:
8. Donations.
As a user, you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work, however donations up front are not allowed. This forum is about sharing and not about getting paid to do something... that is what your job is for.

A PM is also forthcoming so that we can discuss a couple of couple of XDA topics. Thread closed.
