Lots of faults after update I believe. - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I've looked on xda and the Internet for the last few weeks but haven't been able to find anything to help.
About six weeks ago the problems started I think after an update to the o/'s.
To turn the tablet on I have to hold the power button on then the battery symbol is shown if at this point I push the home button then the battery symbol shows its charging even though it's not got ant USB plugged in. Then I have to hold the poem button again to turn it off then holding the power button in for a 3rd time the tablet boots up into android and I'm able to use it. When the tablet is on with nothing plugged into the USB port if I push the home button the tablet beeps and then shows the charge symbol. Push the home button again and it removes the charge symbol.
When a cable is plugged in charging then I get a red cross over the battery symbol when I push the home button. Push the home button again and the red cross disappears.
The only info I can find says change the internal USB ribbon and/or the battery. Which I've done both and still the same.
I was thinking of reinstalling the original rom but I cannot get it to fire up in the correct mode as it won't recognise the volume button on start up.
Any help would be great. Thanks

USB port may be faulty or loose I reckon

[Q] [SOLVED!] Epic 4g Won't Power on. Will Charge though.

<Quote>My epic 4g won't power on. If I plug in a usb cable/ac adapter it will charge the device. The screen comes on and shows the green battery and the amber LED turns on and then turns blue when it reaches 100% charge.
But the power button does nothing. It won't power it on. Is there anything else I can do to force it to turn on?</Quote>
So I got it to boot up. You can do this by holding the power button down while continuously unplugging and replugging in a power adapter (or usb cable). You may spend 2 or 3 minutes unplugging and replugging it in (you need to do this rapidly) but eventually you'll be greeted with the samsung boot screen. If it makes it to the battery display screen you're not unplugging and replugging in quickly enough.
Hopefully o that anyone else who encounters this problem can potentially use their phone in a pinch or recover data off one with a broken power button. My power button is definitely busted and I'll need to get it repaired by sprint unfortunately.
Thanks!

Did you try putting it into download mode? may need to ODIN back to stock.
Ok im new to this forum, as i just ditched my evo shift and picked up and epic, but you might try booting to another menu. Try unplugging it and holding the 1 key on the keyboard then press the power key. If that does nothing then id have to guess ur actual power button is broken. You could also try pulling the battery witih it unplugged for like 5 minutes then put it back in and hold the power button for like 20 seconds and letting it go.
Edit: He beat me to it
It appears the actual power button is broken, neither of those solutions worked. Is there any other way to force it to power up without use of the power button?

Thank you soo much! I have a messed up Epic that has to be sent back to Sprint but I had to get my work information off of it or I'd be in it deep. Your trick worked perfectly!!

Tablet won't turn on / charge

Hi,
I've only had my Samsung Galaxy Tab S for a few weeks. Whilst on a plane the battery went to 0%.. no problem I thought as I'd simply charge it when I got to a power source.
However, when plugged in, nothing happens. No LED light, nothing on the screen. I've plugged it into a wall socket and via USB into a PC. I have held down the power button, home and volume down for a period of time, as well as just the power button and volume down.
Has my tablet gone kaput?
Cheers,
Titanium
I'd just let it charge for a while. It'll take a bit before it comes back to life if it was completely drained.
If you still don't get any response hold POWER + VOL DOWN.

Should it show any lights? It's as if it's not even charging at all.

If it was powered off I'd expect the battery icon to show.

Yeah, tried to hold it down. No LED lights and nothing shows on the tablet. It's as if it's just dead.

There are no leds.
I know someone else had the same problem. They used a different charger and it worked.
Try that first.

I had this problem.
You'll have to pry off the back cover, remove the wire that connects the battery to the motherboard. (A battery pull, basically).
Keep it off for 30 seconds. Then plug back in.
Use ifixit for details about opening. Feel free to ask for more help.
Try this one.
1) connect the tab to PC
2) press Home, Vol Down and Power simultaneously up to a screen appears;
3) press Vol Down to cancel and reboot the tablet.
John.
Now there are a few things you can try...
First check your charging port for any dust or any foreign particle. There has to be a small gap between the base of the charging port, and the small slab above it. Carefully, using a board pin, try and push that slab a bit up, don't apply too much pressure, just enough to make it move slightly!
This can happen sometimes if you drop your phone.
Next, make sure your charger, and the USB cable are working fine.
Also tell me if you have any Xposed module for your battery installed on your phone!

Thanks so much for that.
This morning, I plugged my tablet in to AC charge before leaving for the day -- battery was at ~30% and all was well. This evening, I came home and the tab was stuck at a weird Samsung logo -- not the normal boot with colored ovals, but the logo surrounded by a moving star field, never seen before, and could not get the tab to respond, turn off, do anything. Tried many wacky suggestions found on the intertubes to stop/start it, including holding power plus touching the screen for > 30 seconds, none of which worked. Never would have thought your suggestion for download mode would work, but it did on the very first try.
I'd like to know how the tab got into that state, and what that star field logo is about. But at least it's working again, for now.
Thank you.
That's the normal lollipop boot screen.

Plugged in audio jack in to Tab S 8.4 it shut down and now it's impossible to restart

What could have happened? I tried the Power Button + Volume Down + Home Button method and it still doesn't restart. Normally, I'd plug in a USB charging cable to "jump start" it so that it starts showing the charging level but this time, no dice.
edit: I manually changed the battery to a spare one i had laying around and now it works. audio jack ****ed up the old battery some how?

Z5 Premium Dual - Does Not Turn On...

I did a software update recently on my Z5 Premium Dual E6833, and when I look at it later it was off! I tried to turn it on, but it was unresponsive. No signs of life at all. Its completely dead. OFF button in SIM slot does nothing, even if I hold it for more than two minutes. No charging LED light when connected to wall charger. When I plug it to my PC, it was being detected as "Unknown Device". Tried loading some ADB driver but it was not accepting it. Tried few different chargers and cables as well. Also Volume Up + Power does nothing at all, same for Volume Down + Power...
Looks like it runs out of charge when it did a software update, it was still have more than 50% when I started the software update. ..
Can anyone guide me on what to do next? I am in the middle of the desert at the moment for the next three weeks, and no access to any local service center. Thank you in advance for any advice that you might have... :crying:
i am worried since you did the volume up + power button trick!
charge your device over night , hold the volumeup+ power button for atleast 15 seconds , the device must jerk thrice! remove fingers on second jerk . the device will shutdown . at this point connect device in flashmode and flash the kernel!
Thank you for your reply, appreciate it! I have tried that trick of holding the Volume Up + Power even up to 30 seconds, but for some unknown reason, it does not vibrate at all. I have tried it on numerous occasion but the vibration was not coming at all...

Stuck in low battery boot loop

Hello, Huawei gadget friends.
My watch started to go in to a "low power boot loop" a week ago so I left it alone hoping a full drain would restore it back to working condition, but alas not.
So now this is the situation:
1) press button, nothing happens
2) connect to power shows the charging icon (white battery with power sign) and then after a few mins commences a boot loop as follows
3) from the charging icon, then gives the "Device software can't be checked for corruption..." message
4) followed by the red Huawei logo, then a single vibrate and then back to step 3 above
5) removing the watch from the charger stops the boot loop but then shows the low battery icon (white battery with one bar).
In one or two occasions, I saw it boot up to the colorful spinning 4 android wear logo, but did not complete (did not show "Android Wear" before rebooting again.
I have tried getting it to recovery mode screen or fastboot but without success -- I keep getting the second buzz without fail.
When the beta of 1.5 came out, I tried it, but since then, have wiped my mac and don't have the adb/fastboot software anymore. From reading the forums, there is now some new software called TWRP. Please advise what I can do.
Would I be right to suspect that it is some battery problem? Is it beyond help? :crying:
Thanks in advance!
MMM
Edit: I have also left it on for several hours charging (and rebooting constantly), thinking that perhaps it is just low battery -- but no success.
I'm experiencing the same problem, i turned it off yesterday at 17% and connected to the pc this morning to charge. I immediately noticed that it started looping with the white icon and it doesn't turn on, nor boots into download mode.
Have you found any way to restore it?
Mine doesn't show the red HW logo, charged for some hours and nothing.
I noticed that the pc see that there's something connected, but keeps saying "USB not recognized". I don't know what to do, i may open up and disconnect the battery
EDIT: SOLVED, it was just the cable that broke somehow. I soldered a new cable to the circular base but that didn't work, but as soon as i received this i connected to the pc and started pressing the button randomly till it showed the battery logo and started charging
I got this when I plugged it into my laptop. Plugging it into a dedicated USB charger solved my problem - I suspect the power rating on the USB socket wasn't high enough to charge effectively or that the USB socket is faulty in some other way. From what I understand, not all USB sockets are equal in that some are suitable for high-drain devices, some not so much. So trying another USB port on your computer may also help (Unfortunately at the time I was backing up to an external HDD on the other USB so that option wasn't open to me).
guyz, i have tried my method it actually worked on Xperia X Perfomance
When it goes to Bootloop for Drained battery, i just plug the cable and perform activity block method By pressing and holing power and both volume up and down and when it hits the 1st viberation i just simply release the key. (remember dont hold it too much long after 1st single viberation just release the keys ) and your phone will go to block activity mode. charging light will change it colors from red to blue.. after 2 minutes just press power button then you ll get another viberation and your phone will be seen as charged 2% and then it will be normal again...
i think it happens when battery drained and phone is unexpectedly trying to go boot in first place.
thank you
