Heavy use endurance - OnePlus X Real Life Review

Playing Candy Crush for 22 hours straight can take its toll on your battery (and your marriage). Rate this thread to express how the OnePlus X's battery performs under heavy use. A higher rating indicates that it lasts a long time even when playing games, streaming video and audio, and doing other CPU-intensive activities.

With new flashed Ressurection Remix, I got 3h of SOT and 10h battery life..dont know what will happen in few days
Sent from my Frappuphone using Tapatalk

3 - 4 hours with GTA SA. Good enough for me!

I average about 2 to 2.5 hrs of SOT with full day use. Start at 100% at 7am and when I am home around 7pm I am down to about 20% left.

It's really low... Do you use 2 sims?
Bad signal zone?
Lot of synchr?
Facebook app?

About 20h of use and 3h50 screen time with 23% battery left. On stock 2.2.1 with boeffla kernel. Very good!

I am currently on fully stock 2.2.0.x ROM. Went back to stock because CM13 battery was bad but stock isn't much better. Maybe 10 minute more SOT but it sucks in that some apps push notifications don't come through on time. e.g. WhatsApp.
1 SIM
No facebook or any other social network APP
Only 1 exchange account for email and 1 google account for app download only no Gmail Sync
Signal is a bit weak where I am, it seems the signal does impact the Oneplux X a lot? Other phones didn't drain this bad.

About 15-20 hours use with 5hrs SOT. This is on WiFi, 4G would be a little less but still good.
CM13 nightlies with Blu Spark kernel, -50 undervolt and slight kernel auditor tweaks.

im using cm13 by ashwin007 and the blu spark beta version kernel for cm .
the battery drops are huge while im on wifi and the phone heats a lot.
i used snapchat for like 30 mins or so and the battery dropped from 80 to 40 percent and heats.
and even while using clash of clans it dropped like nearly 10 percent for around 10 mins!
can u suggest somthing to fix this ?
and the battery stats dont really show much on what consumes so much of battery!!
really sorry if thats a noob question.
Thank you!

Same here. The signal is not that weak, but it goes and comes sometimes. Anyway I've never got more than 3,5 screen hours.

Cell standby consuming more than 40% percent battery?

It depends of the other "consumers". 40 % means that it's consuming 40% of the 100% total consumed at every point in time. So, if the overall battery drain is low, 40% from that, doesn't necessarily mean too much.

But wow.. 1 day and 7h and 40% battery? Which ROM/Radio are you using?
I can't even get 24 hours with almost not using the phone..
Id be happy with 24. I barely get 6 lol
I am able to get almost 30 hours of usage and even after that I got 25-30% left. Using 11.14 radio + DeFrost 5.7 with SetCPU on ondemand. Been 15 hours(Mostly on standby with Wi-Fi + Nimbuzz on) and I still got 80% left .

I'm also with this and have results but not as good as you.. maybe because i'm using a Sense ROM I also had SetCPU in interactive.. will try and see if ondemand is better!
Hours will be many if Display on time is low (below 4-5 hours) or similar heavy processing is kept very low. Easy to get near 2 days with that usage with even the stock ROM.

Then I'm doing something wrong... I did calibrate the battery yesterday and it's a bit better... almost no usage and it's now 12hours uptime with 75% battery..
Are there any apps to monitor the apps that use most battery? The stock information is too restricted

They end up using more battery usually. Go to accounts and sync and make sure it isn't syncing crap in the background, by default Sense syncs News and weather every 15 minutes or so which drains a lot of battery. Also I'd recommend using Gmail with push rather than HTC Mail(Unless using the newer Froyo one with Exchange activesync) so that it doesn't check for new e-mails over and over again. Also don't install apps you don't need and widgets also consume battery. Make sure things aren't using Wi-Fi if you don't need them. And flashing richard's OCUV kernel for HTC Sense based ROMs will also help(Along with it use SetCPU with ondemand/conservative governor).

Screen Time On Numbers

I'm starting to see that looking at battery life, we shouldn't be looking at any number but screen time on.
For me, no matter how long I use my phone. Let that be intense browsing to listening to music, my battery will not die until it reaches near the 2 hour screen on time.
I am trying to figure out if that is low compared to other users. If people can share that would be great.
thanks.
Hour and fourty five to two hours fifteen seem to be about the norm. Some users are getting ~3 hours of screen time with a lot of patience, kernel testing, fine tuning & tweaking as well as careful useage. I think we'll all get there sooner or later. In my opinion kernels can/will get MUCH better for this device. Only time can tell, but I'm not trying to put a show on. If I need my phone, I'm going to use it...whole point in having it.
Most GSM users get around 3 hours screen on time I believe.. I get three on a bad day

Actually both
1.standby
2.and actual phone usage
Standby can be sorted out via removing stupid apps or configs causing large amounts of wakelocks.
Actual screen on time AFAIK can only be done via lowering brightness, or maybe try reducing screen voltage(however, current may increase rendering this mute).
Having a lower dpi screen means less screen touch/input for scrolling so that also helps, it also looks great due to the high res screen (large ppi count).
obviously if you are doing battery intensive stuff like playing games or gps. Not much you can do there.
This is what I'm getting on average , GPS and bt is off everything else on. GSM 4.0.2

That's about my usage, I got two and a half hours yesterday. But I've since changed to Nitroz's Black Exodus so I hope to get more toward the 3-3.5 hour time.
I get between 2 and 2.5 hours with heavy usage on stock battery, GSM version, data on (2G screen off), sync on, AOKP M3 + franco kernel w/ turtle governor, 350/1000 UV. I'm trying gazelle with 700/1350 and I ordered the extended battery off eBay.
If you don't get at least 2 hours screen on with heavy usage (games, internet, etc.), research what is draining the battery.
On an average day I get over 4 hours screen time. A good day sees me hit 5 hours and a long time without charge can reduce this to around 3.5 hours.
I use the official extended GSM battery. Currently running AOKP 21 with Franco Kernel 14.4 undervolted by around -50mV. Auto-Brightness.
Here is an example of my last cycle.
Regards.
Stock everything GSM... Intermittent use of Skype. Wifi always on. Screen at 50%. Google calendar and mail sync.
4.0.1 just under 2 hours.
4.0.2 just over 2 hours and 2.5 hours max.
Average 16 hours without charge
I think it is just as important to post screen brightness as well as time on.
I've not yet tested a lower screen setting and I would be sacrificing its sexiness.
At least 4 hours screen time with:
Version: GSM GNex
ROM: AOKP Milestone 3 (power saver mode off)
Kernel: Lean Kernel
Battery: 2000 mAh
Frequency: 350/1350 InteractiveX
UV: -70 across all
3G/HSPA/LTE: 3G/HSPA and my network doesn't support 2G
What's off: BT, WiFi unless I'm home, Sync for Calender Contacts Browser and Photos.
Daily, I use: Netflix/Poweramp/Spotify/Reddit on my daily commute. Phone/Poweramp/Spotify/Reddit/Browser+ in between commute.
The WiFi is when I got home, and I didn't charge overnight, which explains the long straight line. My brightness is almost always at 40%, sometimes I go 100% if I get home and know I can waste the charge, sometimes it's at 0-10% if in very low light.

Marshmallow update battery life improvements?

So I was wondering how is everyone doing on MM as far as battery life is concerned? I am getting remarkable battery life since updating. I do have Greenify and the new battery features in MM are helping already. 15 hours since plugged in, 7 hours standby, 8 hours moderate usage and battery is at 49% that's amazing!
How is it looking for you guys?

I'm at 10 hours since plugged in. 48% remaining. Moderate to heavy calls, Net searching, EMails with attachments and texting. No video watching but still, very good battery life and NOT so far enabling Greenify nor any special third party options. Plus I leave Wifi as well as Bluetooth on which I know can kill battery. Overall a good thing.
Well with me is quite the opposite way , I was getting 3 or 4 hours SOT depending if the signal is good or if I'm using wifi calling, power saver etc. on lollipop ,now on MM for the first 3 days I can't reach 3 hours ,even today is really bad, wifi calling on form 8:15 am till 3:15pm and just 30 min of SOT it was 39% .... usually the same usage with Lollipop I would be ot 50-60 %
What's your average SOT, so far? After the update I'm having cell standby issues again, but worse this time. I think I'm going to do a factory reset soon.
Sent from my SM-G925T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I did a factory reset and it seems better now but can't tell yet ,because I work in area with very bad reception so I use Wifi calling all the time ( only wifi for calls not searching for cell signal) so the cell standby is high like 40% ,but when I'm off I'll use it more "normal" and I'll let you know. From 7am to 4pm I have like 45 min. SOT mainly texting ,FB and G+ and I'm at around 50% battery !
I still get the cell standby battery drain even with good signal and VOLTE off,it is always more than 14% in the stats, the other thing is Android OS is on first place always and Skype consumes more battery than before it's in top 4 ( signed in but running in background).

My cell standby drops down to 12% when the phone is being used moderately to heavily. When it's idle in my pocket at work it gets pretty high. I'm guessing there's no need to factory reset the phone if it's still the same. That's pretty annoying.
Sent from my SM-G925T using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yea,I did factory reset before the update and right after the update so... and even after few days again so these stats are after few factory resets I don`t think it would help much if you do factory reset !

I find that it depends on whether I'm using WiFi or mobile data...fully charged the phone before bed last night and 6.5 hours later it had dropped 3% mainly due to Google.gms wakelocks.
SOT is very subjective...when you say the other person got 6 hours with heavy use...doing what...playing a couple intensive 3d game or web browsing...with what level of screen brightness etc...far too many variables... however i could quite comfortably expect between 4 and 5 hours SOT based on my own personal usage

Okay, thanks.
My real question is, how is battery life compared to stock? Some people have had 9 hours of SOT and that was sure as hell not possible on the stock rom. I was mainly browsing all day on wifi and always got 4-5 hours of sot. 50% brightness. How about you, do you feel any difference batterywise? Is any other rom better for battery life?
(Currently on sultan on my opo and the difference in battery life is from 2-3hours of sot to 4-5 hours of sot)

battery life is going to be about the same as stock b/c there are not modifications, it just depends what apps u remove that wont run in the backgorund, u can download a custom kernel and lower the cpu to reduce heat and get better battery life, mine is doing pretty good right now
on pace for about 6+ hour OST and just normal usage and browsing some with location on too.

I've only had it for a week, and I could probably push for 6 hours of SoT. Right now I'm sitting at 37% battery, 3 hours 39 min SoT with fairly average use at work--mostly texting, browsing, etc.

Incredibly bad battery life for me. I have almost 3 hours with 32% left. That is atrocious. I get 8 hours on my 7 plus
I'm very happy with the battery life of my OnePlus 3T! I get an average of 5h30 SoT with a night battery drain around 3-4%. Stock OxygenOS, stock kernel.
For my use: Social apps, web, little game, texting...
Need more time to master the battery, I have 13% of battery drain when screen off during almost 24 hours. I think I can reduce this!
Amazing screen on time.
Really impressive screen on time I think.

Jio 4g whole day ON, no wifi, Auto brightness 30%, Stock 3.5.3 .
I'll not be surprised if custom kernels can push op3T to 9 to 10hours SOT
How you all getting SOT more than 6hrs....mine just 3 to 4 hrs.... I m moderate user
I've been getting around 6 hours of SoT consistently with my usage being watching YouTube videos, browsing, few minutes of gaming(not more than 20-30min), few photos here and there all this with dual Sims, 4G data, no Wi-Fi.
I am seriously impressed with the battery life, its waaaayyy better than what I got from my previous phone the Xperia Z2.
The charging is soooooo quick as well. I'd usually sit for 10-20min near a charging port giving me more than 50% of battery, that is AWESOME!:good:
This is one of the better ones, even after using the phone constantly as I've does with a new phone!
