Mine. Just in case.

Dammit @Nextbit_Khang - you beat me to the punch - I only just finished uploading my 119F images before noticing your post.
Thanks heaps for uploading this though! A fastboot-compatible system.img makes modding the Robin so much more easier.

Yeah no worries! The team knows how important the dev community is.. That's one reason Robin was built! Keep rocking and let me know if you have any questions.

Still Stuck

Just tried this a few times and my phone will not boot. It gets though the process fine (screenshot) but it goes straight back to the stock recovery screen when I'm done. I hit Reboot system now and it just takes me right back to recovery. I'm really stumped as to what is going on and I have an unusable Robin at the moment.

I think I figured it out. I must have relocked the bootloader at some point while trying to restore back to stock. So even though the command prompt results were telling me that it had completed successfully using the .bat file, it really hadn't. I tried doing the commands one at a time manually, line by line, and that is where I saw the "error" messages. So, if you're bootloader is not unlocked (fastboot oem device-info), type fastboot oem unlock in fastboot and then run the .bat file. Worked like a charm after that.

Thank you for the images

You're very welcome!

How soon can we get the updated system images for the new update @Nextbit_Khang ?

It is rolling out today!

I was running cm13 for a couple of weeks, decided to revert back to stock. Tried this method with success, but whenever i try to update the rom ota, it fail and boot to stock recovery with the error '' system partition has unexpected contents"
Tried to lock the bootloader and no luck. Plz help.

I would try Reflashinf the stock images, then immediately after it boots up for the first time and you go through setup, try locking the bootloader. If that doesn't work, you could try just flashing the latest image

I seem to be facing a rather odd problem. Everything EXCEPT Key_info succeeds.. This is the only one that fails stating partitions is missing/invalid on the target... Any luck? I can't boot into stock ROM.

Zenfone 2 failed update, can't flash stock firmware

I accidentally allowed the 2.20.40.183 OTA update, which rendered my phone useless. I tried putting MOFD_UPDATE of 2.20.40.174 on my SD card, but that didn't work.
Here's a few other things I tried:
Recovery menu: Updating phone, then dead droid. No menu appears.
adb sideload: adb didn't recognize my phone.
fastboot flash: Permission denied, or something along those lines. The write fails. Tried to flash system.img but it never did and nothing happened.
adb sideload through temporary CWM: Unauthorized device. Couldn't sideload.
Flashing through temporary CWM and temporary TWRP: Fails early on with Status 7. 2.20.40.174 is older, and this is apparently reason enough to deny me.
Does anyone have an idea about what I can do to fix this? Could I flash Cyanogenmod, then flash stock over that, using temporary CWM/TWRP?
My bootloader is not unlocked.

I'm not going to lie, that guide's a bit hard to read. I'll try to follow as best as I can and reply if this works for me.
I'd still appreciate any other advice others have.

All necessary to read.
Hope you fix the problem.
Fixed
I managed to fix my phone, but not with the method Mr Gourav so kindly posted. I chose not to use mr_gourav2000's IntelSoC fix because the guide was written in a way that made it very hard to follow, and I was unsure if MOOREFIELD was supposed to flash briefly or stay on the Device Manager. Regardless, I wasn't going to risk bricking my phone beyond help by pushing on without knowing what i was doing.
The key was bypassing Status 7 (or 1), which prevents you from downgrading firmware. If your phone says something like "Installation failed with Status 1" or "Status 7," or you get the "Can't install this package over newer build" error when you attempt to flash a previous firmware, this fix can help you. Funny enough, the fix was posted by the very same person earlier this year:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65995574&postcount=116
First, download the latest full firmware from Asus' support site: https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_Download/
Then, open or extract the .zip file, and go to into UL-Z00A-WW-(Firmware.Version.Number)-user.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\ . Select updater-script (no file extension), and open it in a plain text editor like Notepad++.
Remove lines 1-6, beginning with "(!less_than_int" and ending with "getprop("ro.product.device") + "\".");". The result should look like this.
Then, insert the edited updater-script into the .zip file, overwriting the old updater-script. At this point, I should mention that one of the removed lines probably checked your phone's model number to see if it was compatible with the firmware. I sure hope you downloaded the right file for your phone. If not, brick city here you come.
Finally, put the edited .zip into a microSD card, and insert that into your phone. If you want to use the stock recovery to install the firmware, rename the .zip to MOFD-UPDATE.zip and put it in the root of the SD, then restart the phone and let it update. Presumably. I didn't use the stock recovery. I used the temporary ClockworkMod recovery to fix my phone, so I'm not sure if it's that simple. If you're using that temporary CWM, just go to the zip installation menu and apply the zip from external_sd.
If you were going through the same problems I was, your phone should boot into stock, unrooted firmware again. Pat yourself on the back and never do whatever dumb thing you did to get to this point in the first place (like absentmindedly apply an OTA update in the middle of a lecture)!
Once again, thanks to mr_gourav2000 for posting this fix earlier. I may not have understood the IntelSoC fix, but I did understand this one!

If it's the 1st boot it generally will as it is recreating cache, dalvik-cache or ART...
It seems to take forever to clear cache too when using recovery but about a heartbeat when using fastboot.... Just another quirk of the phone...
Thank you much
I gotta say, this got me on the right path. Though my issue was exactly the same the fix was a little different.
I had to use the next patch and that worked. Recovery is working now and I have to manually update, but still have root, so no real big deal.
Thanks again.

You need to flash boot, droidboot and recovery for the build you are using.
I use fastboot to do this but make sure developer settings are enabled and USB debugging is ticked before trying to flash.
To find the img files for the above mentioned, go to Shakalaka's pre-rooted rom thread in Android Developement, you don't need to download the rom if you don't want to but it sure makes rooting easy.
Find the version of Android you need and download boot, droidboot and recovery img files. Flash with fastboot using these commands -
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash fastboot droidboot.img
***Make sure the right commands are used or it may result in a brick...***

Stuck in fastboot. No recovery... no bueno :(

So I had my ze551ml / Z00A rooted, was loving life, all was great. Then I tried getting XPosed access and didn't read up on it prior. Anyways, now my phone is stuck in fastboot, I'm able to flash partitions and all, including recovery partition, yet I cannot enter any mode but the hung ASUS logo, or fastboot. I weas even able to load CM's "upgrade to MM bootloader" package, but still the same thing only with green letters where they once were blue..... Please help, I need my beloved phone back.....
I'm not a pro but if you can access fastboot it is just a soft brick and I'm sure many people can point you on the right thread to recover it.
I've scoured the depths of both XDA and the ASUS forums, and while I've gained much knowledge of how I can possibly fix it, nothing seems to work. I go to select "recovery mode" and it instantly just boots right back in to fastboot.....

Thanks -- you can install giovix`s modder tool from general section
Set it up , use`return to stock option` --in that option , first select boot , then after- recovery(both will be stock)
You then can either
A- Reboot to stock recovery ,adb Sideload stock M -- Follow on to B-( to back-up stock before flashing)
B- Unlock bootloader again , flash twrp and root (if twrp version in modder is now 3.0.3.M4 you can flash lineageos)
---------------------------------------------------------------(if twrp version in modder is still 3.0.2.1 M - you will have to flash 303M4 in fastboot or in 3021M twrp.
1) You might be able to, fastboot flash 3.0.3.M4 immediately and forget above A&B completely
For 303M4 recovery see lineageOS in original android development section OP for download link

So I've yet to try your solution, but I do have an update, I was able to, one by one, flash all the stock files (stock as in the stuff I downloaded from asus site) and was almost able to boot to recovery, but when I got to the red triangle android, I couldn't get it to go further. I've heardf alternate key combos for proceeding from there, and tried them all, but maybe I'm just an idiot...... I'll try the giovix solution when I've got time (patience).
**when I tried flashing the cm upgrade package after that, it went back to square 1, so I gave up for the evening.**

Here's the thing. I'm super stubborn, and I think I know everything (cuz I do....) so of course I decided that I could figure something out, so I tried my way first............ didn't pan out.... anyway, I'm finding any time I flash a TWRP file, I have no access to recovery mode. Regardless if I do it manually through fastboot, or CM upgrade/downgrade or even the giovix fix (yes I tried it). My question is this, Where is there a return to stock option? of the giovix DLs I could find, I see a 'magisk root' 'TWRP' 'bootloader unlocker' and 'Xposed' tools, nothing else.... Am I missing something? or am I just skimming over that part?
I do appreciate all the help, seriously. Even if it seems like I'm not taking suggestions very well. It's moreso I don't have access to a computer most of the day, and it's not a huge priority since I went and bought a zfone 3 max a few days ago (decent phone for what it is....crazy battery life)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/tool-ze551mlmodder-t3458145
Functions:
1- Check connection status
2- Bootloader Unlocker
3- Flash TWRP 3.0.2-0 M1
4- Full-auto xposed flasher!
5- Full-auto root flasher!
5B- Full-auto root (Magisk+Phh's) compatible with 184!
6- ADB Shell
7- Return back to stock
8- Erase /system, /data and /cache for a clean upgrade
9 (HIDE)- Auto-reboot to bootloader
10- More functions inside!
well then forgive me for not downloading the correct option. I nowhere see this list among anything I downloaded, so maybe specify which is which ('full' or 'auto')....... I'm already downloading both of them again, because I'm not sure which I already had. But yea, one of the 2 only has the 4 options I mentioned.

In stock recovery - choose update from adb -- adb sideload cmd is >
adb sideload MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
Put .134 M asus firmware in adb/fastboot folder first rename it to MOFD_SDUPDATE(without zip) before this cmd above and then open up adb and type it in and hit enter.

I'll try it today. Last I checked it was hanging at the ”! Android” screen. But then again I'm not sure I know the combo to get passed that screen, I know it's either power and + or power and - but my only success I got into by button mashing all three keys rapidly, so, yea, I know, I'm am idiot.

EDIT"""" because i got it wrong too , i dont even think about , i just do it
It`s ->
From powered off position
Press Power and Vol +
at two vibes, release power
at boot up screen ,release vol+
in bootloader ,scroll vol up or down to and then select(press power) at recovery selection.
At dead android guy -> press vol + and power for 4 seconds -> release Vol +
You should be in recovery.
i am replying in this post since i have a similar problem, and I am as stubborn as OP. Me posting here is a big step in acknowledging my defeat at last. Hours of digging through the internet didn't solve my problem
I have changed my ifwi and dnx more times than i can remember. (my clean slate is mostly using xFSTK downloader with xFSTK_ZE551ML-sal358-amtech.vn files)
Using the above mentioned method (giovix`s modder tool) to go back to stock i still boot into fastboot, not recovery mode.
trying to unlock bootloader it says on the phone "unlock fail"
Using asus flash tool with raw files i get "gpt command failed"
Using a manual method i get the "gpt command failed" on the "6. fastboot oem partition /tmp/partition.tbl" step
in my opinion as soon as i get some kind of recovery my problems are solved. But have been working four hours on this problem with all possible solutions i could think of, nothing but frustration.
info: current ifwi 0094.0183 (wich should be M)
serial 01234........EF
and using the toolkit on "https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/bl-unlock-ze551ml-toolkit-t3546293" i found out my device firmware version is 198 (wich is probably not good in combo with the ifwi)
little update in a certain config (android 5 / ifwi 0094.177 / stock recovery) i can boot up untill the dead android icon, but with whatever key combo can't get past it... (vol up + power) / (vol down + power)
fastboot flash boot recovery.img (yep i am really desperate to get into recovery) doesn't even give me the dead android.
thank you beforehand!
Last paragraph with android 5 ifwi 0094.0177
Is your serial correct ?
Press vol + once is it correct?, if not you will have to xfstk first again and flash raw (twice) with temp bootloader 0094.1069
See my unbrick video for help
First of all, thank you very much for your reply!
I was not very specific there, the android 5 is not the rom (still wasnt able to flash the rom) its only the files like droidboot, ifwi, dnx, .... that i got form lolipop.
Indeed the serial is still 1234........EF (so not the correct one)
I do understand i have to flash the raw twice to get the correct serial, but flashing raw doesn't work. I get "gpt command failed" every time. (so the point where i have to restart flashtool is not even reached). Also if i try to do it manualy.
I watched your video (thanks it was my first steps into understanding how it all worked) but unfortunatly didn't work for me.
Any other ideas?

Did you get this device in this condition ?
If not, what happened so that you lost serial ?
Anyway , i have never tried this because i have ALWAYS succeeded flashing raw (twice) to correct serial BUT it may work for you.( i am not sure you have a device that can have the serial corrected due to whether its been tampered with previous ) which affects recovery and IMEI.
Usually , xFSTK is used to install temp bootloader - Its supposed to be the lowest level form of unbricking procedure and restores temp bootloader so you can fastboot after-- flashing raw in fastboot via AFT(twice) restores serial -- 1st flash approx 3mins is with incorrect serial and temp bootloader.
After a couple of mins, cmds on phone pauses on RESULT=OK on phone.
You close AFT and open AFT again , input raw and set AFT up -- press Vol+ on phone -> once, serial will be corrected and 2nd flash can be started and left until it boots into android 5 by itself.
If GPT trouble , that link may help.
There is other programmes for starting to create serial and restoring .
Usually people who use these , have to dig deep into buildprop stuff which if tampered with can end up with problem such that you have.
Good luck
see if anything here helps

I got this second hand phone which is honor 7x
And I want to update it to the latest sowtfare but twrp was installed on this phone..
How to get over it??
I'm not familiar on how to and that...
All I want is to have a good performance on my phone
(It's a CHINA ROM) VERSION
I'm currently on android version 7.0 nougat
Emui 5.1
And my question is would it lock my network carrier from where I'm from currently in???
I was fiddling around now for two full days with my 7X. Trying to root the phone which has been upgraded to 9.1.0.162 is a mess. Finally back to stock but still unsatisfied.
There are several lessons learned and findings from those two days:
- Huawei has renamed the partitions from "recovery"/"recovery2" to "recovery_ramdisk"/""erecovery_ramdisk"
- unlocking the bootloader does only let you flash recovery_ramdisk
- if you boot into recovery (Pwr & Vol+), the image from erecovery_ramdisk gets loaded
- To boot into recovery you are able to flash, it requires three buttons to be pressed (Pwr & Vol+ & Vol-)
- To flash erecovery_ramdisk, you have to flash TWRP into recovery_ramdisk and from there you can install an image into erecovery_ramdisk.
Be aware! To go back to stock, do NOT use methods that flash kernel.img from older versions. Since boot.img and kernel.img are related, there might be a great chance to brick the phone.
Lessons learned: Huawei tries to avoid rooting the phone. Since I bought the phone (it is mine!) I am the one who decides what to do with it. Even thought the hardware is still good, I'm done with this messy firmware handling. So now it is time for new hardware from a different company. this will be my last onepluse thatr for sure going back to Pixel 4 XL didnt have no issues going back to stock this is crazy
I'm having the same issue, so I'm gonna piggyback this in hopes of a different direction.. Long story, short, I've spent hours trying to get back to OOS from crdroid 11. the link above got me back to booting up t-mobile and relocks the bootloader, but wifi radio doesnt work & restarting brings me to being stuck on the boot logo. none of the other MSMtools work, unlocked or TMO from the unbrick page.
what step am i missing after going through the tmo to int. guide? since that's the only thing that's working.. thanks in advance, i'm attempting round 2 in the meantime.
When u r stuck on pink TMobile screen, force reboot to bootloader by holding vol+, vol-, & power buttons for 10 sec. Once you see phone rebooting, let go of power button only to enter bootloader mode. Then type "fastboot reboot fastboot" on PC while USBC cable is plugged into phone. This will kick phone into fastbootD mode. Then fastboot flash all stock rom files.
When wifi and 4g not working, u did not enter fastbootD mode, so system did not flash right

this would not work for me im assuming bc i have the global HD1905 not the T Mobile branded. u can read above why it wouldn't work . but i seem to have made some progress using the All in One Tool i clicked on flash factory image tab and at first it keep error out saying no Flash-All.bat found after unzipping it. so i kelp looking around and finally foud a factory zip that had the Flash-All.bat file in it so tried again using the Allin One Tool clicked Flash Factory image and it unzipped it and flashed fine but now i cant boot to the OOS it just reboots to the " your bootloader is unlocked integrity screen and stays . but i can boot in fastboot mode and recovery which is now factory recovery. i noticed that it flashed the OOS zip on slot A so i think the reason its not booting up to OOS is bc i need it flased on both slots ??

using the " All in One Tool "
Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions
is this normal error when flashing back to stock OOS ? when the flashing starts it says this for the first 4 or 5 flashing parts then it stats flashing as described in OP. then it reboots out of fastboot and boots to stock recovery then it finishes the flashing . then at the end it says to press any key to continue and the phone reboots and hangs at the screen that lets me know the bootloader is unlock screen. i flashed both a \b partitions and still does the same thing. its like the boot image is not flashing or im missing something else in the OP to get back to stock OOS.
anyone can help me please ?
"Fastboot reboot fastboot" will enter fastbootD mode to allow flashing system parts

ok that command worked it successfully Flashed all partitions and when it it it finished it said to press any key to continue .... i did and it rebooted into stock recovery and finished the flashing . then it reboots to the Your Bootloader is unlocked warning and stays there . so i went into recovery and factory reset everything and still hangs at the bootloder unlocked warningthat was all on Slot b so i was like maybe i need to flash both Slots so i switched to slot a active and repeated the whole process above and still nothing hangs again at the bootloader is unlocked warning... ggggrrrrr
what gives..... this is all done using the All in One Tool ... i know im getting close to getting it back to Stock OOS as i made progress with your help.
i then downloaded the factory image from OnePlus site but that was a no go as the zip had only something called Payload which wouldn't flash ..
anymore knowledge u might can share and thank you very much for your help
Go back to fastbootD and flash-all parts manually on A slot, then go to bootloader, type "fastboot set_active other" to go into B slot and repeat fastbootD flashing all parts again. Then go into stock recovery to format data and then reboot

again thank you.

Question [Solved] root problems

So I updated my phone to Android 13, after I updated my phone I needed to regain root perms, so I flashed a patched magisk boot.img file, it went wrong here.
so now(after) I am unable to start my pixel 6 pro, all I get is "Your device is corrupted it cannot be trusted and may not work properly", + the bootloader is unlocked message.
and whenever I start the phone it either shows a battery icon(as in it has no battery? idk it was on 20%) or the colorful "Google" logo, no it doesn't show the colored "G"/doesn't get to that point(as in it's stuck).
I cannot get the phone to show up in "adb devices" it has worked before.
I very much need help, I went throughout all of YouTube and Google(search) and found nothing.
Any idea?
can you get into bootloader and does it detect?

You must have flashed the boot.img that someone else uploaded from their phone? I did the same yesterday with the same result.
Fix....Use Android flash tool to flash the Aug update;
*****MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK lock bootloader, wipe device, force flash partitions. after it is finished.... copy boot.img to your phone and patch it with magisk. Then copy the magisk patched boot.img back to your PC and then flash your patched boot.img to both slots using Platform Tools CMD Good Luck
Okay I manage to get it into Fastboot, thank you very much both! much appreciate the help and your time!

Diff question:
I tried to(tmp) boot with the patched magisk boot.img but it doesn't seem to be willing to boot with it. how did you manage to get it to boot with the patched boot.img? is it any different than the normal android 12?
-- edit: I use my own patched files, that are not "made" by others. using the android 13 image file
I always download the full zip in order to get the boot.img for the zip, then I use Android Flash Tool to download and flash the full zip update. Let the phone reboot unrooted. If you have the magisk patched boot.img from your phone, copy it to your PC and use Platform tools to flash it to both slots using the CMD prompt.
Open a Command Prompt in the folder you copied the patched boot.img to.
Flash the boot.img (Magisk Patched) to both slots: fastboot flash boot <drag and drop boot.img> --slot all

Before you do any more modding, have you flashed the A13 bootloader to both slots so you don't get in trouble with the new ARB? If not, I suggest you do so before you do anything.
If you have, never mind, lol...
I've used the android flash tool, now shows that the phone is corrupt, Android Recovery -- cannot load Android system Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message...
Try again or Factory data reset.
13.0.0 (TP1A.220624.021, Aug 2022)
Yes I got in trouble with the ARB
I don't really understand on how this works, I just follow a YouTube tutorial. not that i'm new(to rooting, been doing this from March~) but that just I don't understand on how android works, especially if a13 is different than a12
The tutorial I've used :
Spoiler
I'll try to recover the phone will see how it'll go, and if i won't manage i'll reset the device, I backed up via Google one.. i'm less worried -- data reset. was unable to recover

Fixed it.
so a little back story, at a random point in my day the phone(p6p) said restart to apply update, and I was rooted at the time and thought it would failed, and I went for it. it did manage to install(2nd "July" august update). then I saw a vid about A13 and thought I might aswell try to install A13 on my phone, I opted in the beta and downloaded A13, took a little bit but I manage to install it aswell.
I think this was the problem. I don't know as to how, but maybe magisk or some module manage to make the device itself think it's not rooted.. albeit it shows that the bootloader is indeed unlocked.
Needless to say, I managed to fix the problem, gained root perms again. thanks for the help and your time! much appreciated

Opting into the Beta wasn't necessary before manually downloading Android 13 - if that's what you meant.
Now that you've opted into the Beta program, you should unopt out of it, otherwise you will continue to get beta versions of Android as opposed to stable.
