question about my new phone - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the zenfone zoom from india zx551ml 4gb ram 128 gb internal storage, my question is, is there any roms for this phone? I saw that this phone is basically the zenfone 2, want to try out roms since the battery life is horrible on it

My advice is for you, never use any cyanogen mod based rom. Becouse you lose my advantage which comes with stock firmware.

I really don't know more about device.
If possible, unlock bootloader 1st, and after that install TWRP.
Now you can do anything with your mobile.
Remove unwanted apps, install xposed, apply patches, etc etc.
Good luck for new mobile.

Don't try install any custom rom.. The official rom is better than any other rom. After I try many rom, I think the official is better. Because everything work good and stable.

and we need your opinion...why?
custom roms are the reason android will forever be better then apple. but in the case of huawei p6 costum roms are useless because i can't install any of them because i bricked my phone once with b118cn so i think devs should first find a way to safely unlock bootloader and then start on building a good rom
I'm closing this thread considering that:
There's absolutely no basis for the comment;
It's turning into a best (type of) ROM war;
It's a highly subjective topic.

Hopefully it will. Can't imagine getting a G4 and have it locked down forever!

agree it will come but the few weeks thingy (for ALL the goodies ) is quite optimistic considering how long it took for the 3 be able to be unlocked which for me is the main goody. from there anything is possible, without too many limitations are enforced IMO.

Following your query, I skipped lunch! and compiled a guide for other G4 owners who may need a little advice:

Anyone get the 3.2.6 OTA update and install it?

Any thoughts if you did? Also has the 1080p60fps video been enabled in latest updates? I'm still on 3.2.4
I've downloaded it three times. But fails to update. I'm back at stock, with stock recovery and OEM locked like when I got the phone. Won't update.
---------- Post added at 10:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:02 PM ----------
Apparently no 60fps but better stabilisation.
Yep got it and it installed perfectly first try. Not many noticeable changes as of yet

I haven't been able to take it either. When I try to install it, it fails with Error 7.
mine recognized the root and downloaded the full 3.2.6 1.3gb update OTA
had to reinstall TWRP via adb sideload and then flash SuperSU and xposed.
everything worked first try.
Anyone find a way to switch from 3.5.2 Community Build to this newest stable build yet? Last I looked on the OP3 official forum, they were advising against it.

[DISCONTINUED][Root][SM-G955U/U1][SM-G955W][Snapdragon][V6_Bootloader][EDL_Method]

Root Method For S8+ SM-G955U/U1 Found Here
[Root][SM-G955U/U1][SM-G955W][Snapdragon][V5_Bootloader][EDL_Method][Safestrap]
Rooted Nougat RomThis is last nougat rom made for S8 it is prerooted with flashfire and safestrap preinstalled. It has CSC stuff for all carriers added. Its debloated slightly with knox removed. Some stuff may not work but im not sure as I cannot test but this stuff may include fingerprint and or face recognition. If stuff doesnt work it probably related to using pie modems and non-hlos on a nougat rom which you have no choice.
Downloads
Rooted_G95*USQS3BRB1.rar
BL_G955_NOUGAT_V7.tar.7z
Includes Fingerprint and Face Unlock fix for above nougat rom. Just flash in BL slot in odin after everything else
Safestrap-4.10-B03-DREAMQLTE-PIE.zip Will boot straight to safestrap only for pie roms
Safestrap-4.10-B03-DREAMQLTE-NOUGAT.zip Will Give you the safestrap splash screen on boot
Directions
Safestrap Method
1. Extract system.img from the Rooted_G95*USQS3BRB1.rar and copy to phone reboot to safestarp and flash system image reboot to download and flash BL_G955_NOUGAT_V7.tar.md5 in odin
2. If coming from pie rom you will have to flash Safestrap for nougat zip to keep from bootlooping into safestrap

If you are using root no. There is no fix this is implemented by Samsung in the kernel we need for 7.0 root. If you flash Oreo or pie then it's not present as they use different kernels. It's not a issue. It's a safety feature implemented and I get as much if not more sot than 100% charges.

Im just jumping in here so don’t know if this pertains but you can not copy a file larger than 2.5 gigs while booted too safestrap that is just the limitations of safestrap so if copying system images the phone needs to be booted to the rom or you need to pull out sdcard and manually copy to it then place back in phone

We barely have a stable official Xposed for Oreo.... Let alone Pie.. as far as I know, we have no way of installing any form of Xposed on Pie. At least on this device because of our locked BL etc etc etc... I don't even know if anyone has developed an Xposed that works on Samsung devices for pie, but I do know there is a forked Xposed for Pie floating around but obviously it's not an official update from Rovo himself because like I said, we barely have an official Xposed for Oreo.
