CallRecorder by skvalex operating flawlessly! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Themes, Apps, and

I just picked up my SM-G935T and have found the settings which enables CallRecorder to operate flawlessly from the line, and not the mic.
I've posted about this over in the CallRecorder thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66232332&postcount=5105.
I'll repost the settings I'm using, below. Let me know if they work for you.
Device -
Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge (T-Mobile - SM-G935T)
Recording Method - Standard API
Standard API settings:
Audio source - Voice call uplink + downlink
Recording format - WAV

I hadn't even thought to try.. Thanks!!

I've been using CR for years and was disappointed to read that there was no success recording from the line with the Samsung 7 Edge. Was one of the reasons for rethinking whether to purchase the device. I figured if it ain't working now, perhaps I'll find settings that work and/or Skvalex will hopefully find a solution as his customer support is excellent.
I purchased the S7 Edge and installed CR and initially the results were the same as I have read for everyone else; recording through the mic. I started trying different settings and I was like, Wow!, this is great when these settings worked. I tried it several times to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Well, thanks to you it automatically prompted me to use the settings you posted above. Skvalex is a wonderful dev and very very supportive!!
I've owned the app for over 4 years now and it is constantly updated and supported... I can't say i know of any other (non google) apps that have been around and supported that long!!!

Excellent!
I've been in contact with Skvalex for the past couple of weeks regarding CR compatibility with the S7 Edge. I immediately notified him of my findings. He is one of the best supportive developers out there. I've been trouble shooting with him over the years regarding logcats, etc., and it's always a pleasure to communicate with him. Glad to see he incorporated the changes so quickly. This will make many people happy :good:

I did notice that random intermittent calls are not recorded or even showing up in the call recording logs. I think it could be because I do not have root. (nobody has root with the 935T yet tmk) I haven't isolated what is in common with the calls that are being skipped though.. I have triple checked all the settings. making sure that it is set for all calls I/B and O/B and no filtering, etc... Perhaps when a caller calls inbound and the screen was locked it may not have permissions to run? I have made it device admin. any one else experience this? but other than this, yes, flawless. excellent work!

May or may not be related, but I was experiencing similar symptoms, although the calls would show in the CallRecorder recording list. I couldn't figure it out for a short while. The CR active recording icon would show and the call would show in the CallRecorder list, but with 0:00 recorded.
The cause of this issue was that I would have Smart Voice Recorder active which conflicted with CR recording the conversation. I use SVR often and have to be aware if it's active.
CallRecorder has been working flawlessly on my SM-G935T

using default settings or did you change some? it works for me but the volume is too low when i play recordings back

I'm not getting anything recorded. Still trying to play with settings.
----
Tried using posted settings, not working for me. Could you double check settings? I tried playing around with the settings and most I could get was voice through my phone. Couldn't make outgoing calls but could get calls. Will try to play with settings more tomorrow, apparently it's frowned upon to be calling my family at 10pm, but would like to know where to start.
-----
Alright I got it working great now.
Had to do some manual configuration but everything is recording properly and clearly now.
Took some screenshots of my settings. Hope this helps others.

I'm using bold beast. Works perfect!

On the Voice call uplink & downlink setting, I had the other party say I was cutting out on them. In other words, my voice was clipping. After troubleshooting, I attributed this to Voice uplink, which is the channel my voice goes over.
I changed my settings to -
Standard API
Main
Audio source
Voice communications*
* this is the setting I changed.
I had a slight issue which Skvalex found a solution for, and mentioned that he would be changing this to be the default for the Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge.

Yes I recently bought the app and so far so good with the settings here.

[Q] Video chat options?

So what options do we have with the SGS2 for video chat/calling?
I see in the dialer/contacts there is an option to call somebody with video, how
does that work? Has anybody been able to try it?
D
I can confirm that the video calling from the dialer works great between two SGSIIs, even over a week 3G signal.
If you have root access, you can also install the new Google Talk app that has video. Works great as well between phone and PC over wifi at least.
I haven't tested other than this, but it gets me in touch with my fiancee on the phone and family/friends on Google Talk. I have a feeling we'll be waiting a while for Skype video support now that they've been bought by Microsoft.
edit: There are of course other third party options but I want to use the ones with the greatest adoption and compatibility between devices, which is Skype and Google in my opinion.

I wonder how long 'we' will have to wait for Android 2.3.4 with the Gtalk/video/voice built in? Or maybe Google will release the Gtalk app with this feature on the market soon.
Guess I could always root
Can someone confirm that Gtalk video chat on AT&T only works over WiFi? I can see & chat with people over 3G and it will even say video available and show the video icon but it then tells me that I need WiFi. Is there a way around this? Perhaps an edit to the prop file or even the Gtalk file thru root exployer to enable the video over 3g..?

Which one did you install? I did the auto APK that allows permissions from superuser and it works great but only over WIFI. How did you get it to install with the 3g? And does it work well? I heard it's very buggy with 3g..?

Are you sure? I think Paul's auto install is the version that only works over wifi. I've installed that version off a fresh hard reset twice and no 3g. I believe someone from that thread actually said that apk was for the wfi only version.
UPDATE: Figured it out. I had to find the updated Talk2.apk and I used root exployer to copy over the old APK. Since it was already installed, that's all I had to do. Re-booted and Google Chat now works over 3g. Wow, it logged in 1st attempt after re-boot with no issues and started working right away. Good stuff... One quick question thou. When someone tries to video chat with me, I only get the notification saying someone tried to video chat but you were not on WIFI. I can then go right ahead video chat them back over 3g and everything is fine. So, I only ring for a video chat if I'm in WIFI but can send no problem over 3g..? Is that where we are at with it or is there something I'm missing..?
Tango is another great video calling app on the market its free and it works real good 3G and wifi it also detects who in youre contact list has it

tried video calls to several friends' android mobiles today in the office - all failed. not sure if it's a network or device limitation, none of the friends had samsung phone tho.
are video calls using the "stock" functions generally only supported between devices of the same make/model?

Do they have UK or EURO standard video chat over 3G enabled? I know I did hear that you can video chat within the dialer with SGS2 to SGS2. If anyone wants to dare try this from one SGS2 to another, or any other GSM phone that has the video chat icon in the dialer. let me know.

Call Recording app needed...

I have purchased the CallRecorder (from skvalex), the program can be trigger by a phone call, but it did not record anything.
we will have to wait for the kernel dev's to see if they can come up w/ a patch.
bought callrecorder too.
Google Voice lets you record calls.
i'm aware of that.
but there are humans outside of the US that got the galaxy nexus as well.
has anyone tried total recall from killermobile.com
they have solutions for the gs2, so am wondering if it may work for the gn?

I have tried their Total Recall. It records only caller's side like all other call recording apps I tried.
EDIT:
Just noticed what I wrote here. I meant your side (side of the person who installed the app.).
Ill wait for one to be included in a custom rom.
Had it on one of the Darky 9.0 roms back on the i9000. Worked great.
Desperately desires this as well...
Will we receive kernel with 2way recording included?
Anyone has a clue if this could be eventually solved with enabling some feature in kernel config, or is this actually firmware or hardware issue?
Almost sure it is not so simple to be solved with simple kernel recompilation... But since I am pretty new here (android land), I hadn't enough time to get know things, evaluate enviroment etc.
I'd also love to have the call recorder from skvalex working on this. I'm holding off on getting the GN until this feature works.

Call quality fix?

I am currently having an issue with my phone calls. Anyone who I call cannot hear anything I say. I'm told that I sound extremely distorted and muffled. However, I am able to use Google search voice commands just fine. So it isn't the microphone itself. I am using Psychos Cm9 9.1, but I have the same problem when I restored my backup of MIUI 2.4, so I'm guessing it's not the ROMs either. I read something about changing my settings to something called EVRC-B, but l the methods I have tried to get to the menu to change the settings haven't worked.
Any input would be appreciated.

I used a voice recorder app, and I sound fine. It is only through calls.
I admit I'm kind of a noob since I mainly mess with ROMs, so I could easily be wrong here, but could it perhaps be the radio...?

Here you go.
make sure to read the instructions. You don't flash it like a rom. Don't forget to remove it from the sd after you're done or you'll regret it (briefly).
So the link on that page for 1111 didn't work. The 4shared page wasn't available.I couldn't find it on Google since all the links were for a multiupload page that directed me to some other site. I downloaded 1.09.01.0312 instead, read the instructions, and got confused. What is the Android SDK folder? I went into hboot and updated that way. I called my girlfriend, who had the biggest problem with my phone call quality, and she said it was extremely better. So hey, it worked! Problem solved!
Thanks for your help, I appreciated it.
You cant change EVRC in an AOSP ROM - but you can switch back to a stock ROM (Sense 2.1) and any changes you make will stick.
Even if you ask your phone to use the EVRC-B codec, there is no guarantee that the tower will process the request, as that codec uses more bandwidth. Dropped calls and such can (and probably will) occur because of the fight for bandwidth.
On the stock Verizon ROM dial ##778# - enter six zeros and you will find the menu to make changes. Be sure to commit modifications.

Can someone please test skvalex's call recorder?

I'm very interested in grabbing this phone but I heard that LG devices sometimes have issues with this application. Can someone test Skvalex's Call Recorder for me before I buy it?

If you can test recording both incoming and outgoing that'd be awesome. I greatly appreciate the help!

Call Recording on Pixel 2 XL?

Hey guys, has anyone found a successful way to get call recording on the Pixel 2 XL? All the apps look like they're working but if you play them back it only has the Pixel 2 out going voice recorded--the other side of the conversation (the person you're call or received a call from) is not recorded. Anyone find a way around this or an app that is successful? I loved ACR on my other phones but it won't work on Pixel 2 XL.

Yes, I am rooted, but not using the root method of recording. I'm using the 'android' method. It should work without root.
EDIT: yeah, I just checked. The root method is not even checked and is grayed out. Also, using the AMR audio format.

Ok. Yeah it does not work for me now, but it was before! I used Titanium backup to restore my data and it was fine. But then there was an issue with playing back files from the app. So I reset the options and still assumed it was working. Anyhow, I am now using the root method of recording and that appears to be the only method that works. Sorry for the misinformation
I'm using call recorder from skvalex. It's a paid app but it works perfectly with root. You can install the app from the play store but you have to download the root module from XDA site. It has a 7 day free trial.

+1. I switched to ACR from total recall and it's way better! Also works without root. Well, I'm rooted, but the app does not prompt, nor does their seem to be a setting to even grant root. Works perfectly though. Here are my settings...
Just to update, I put the audio source to Voice_Comunication
And the other side of call is clearer.
been playing with settings before posting hope you find the same is true?

Hello guys, it seems it doesn't work on Android P. According to ACR devs it won't work on the official release version either.. Do you have any working alternatives on Android P?
I have the Lifetime sub for Parrot and was excited to try out the Call Recording, but it's doing the same thing, only recording my side of the calls. I also have it set to Voice Communication but nope, Android P doesn't like call recording. It's a luxury for me, so not a huge issue, but thought it would be nice to record important calls so I can review them / make notes / reminders later, etc... Back to the good ole' notepad and pen nearby routine, lol.
+1 for ACR !
Only issue is, once in a while - it doesn't record the other end of the call. Only my end.
It's totally random, and sometimes pretty messed up if it misses an important call.
I'm using the Call Recorder app from F Droid, works great, use aac under encoding and I'm able to hear both voices.
ACR works fine on Oreo, unfortunately on P it does not, nor will it due to Google/Android P restricting access to microphone on third party apps.
I've got Pixel 2 XL, Android P and just tried ACR with the settings from the screen shot in earlier post and it works fine, records both sides.
Hmmmm, strange that it's working on Android P as Google in their official statement has stated that going forward ( From Android P ) their will not a non-root method of call recording. Search google its everywhere.
