(Guide) How to stop the annoying click sound or change it on Amazon Fire Tv - Fire TV Themes and Apps

How to stop the annoying click sound or change it on Amazon Fire Tv
Do you hate or love the click sound when moving around on the Fire Tv? Well if like me you can't stand that annoying sound, I will tell you how to remove that "click" or replace for a sound of your own? This has been tested on my AFTV2 but Im 99.9 % sure it will work on Gen 1 & the Fire Sticks too (I will try on my Fire Stick later) as long as you have root access.
PLEASE READ
This process needs root access & make sure you only change the file I'm talking about, I will not be responsible if you brick your device by being silly & deleting dependable files on your Fire Tv, I advice you don't delete it just incase then If you need to go back you can change or rename with adb. If you want to make a backup with twrp recovery you can back as far as I can see this process Is safe to do & I have tested & have not had any problems (so far).
Steps-
1. Using a file manager goto system/media/audio/ui
2. Select Mount R/W if you haven't already so you have authority to write to the device
3. Select, tick or change the Effect_Tick.ogg file & press rename
4. Rename as Effect_Tick.ogg.bac
5. Exit the file manager & now reboot the device using the select & the play/pause buttons held down together for about 5 or 6 seconds
6. Now a message will flash Up saying something like Effect_Tick.ogg not working or something similar? (Don't panic)
7. Once rebooted the annoying click has gone!
Replacing for a blank file
I have included a download of blank audio which i named Effect_Tick.ogg (just needs to be unziped) if you just replace this with the old sound or .bac the original & push this ogg file in the location system/media/audio/ui & then reboot you will have a non clicking scroll & also wont get any error Effect_Tick.ogg not working messages.
Bringing the click back
If you want to bring the click back, go back into system/media/audio/ui & delete the .bac part at the end of the name so it's Effect_Tick.ogg once again, reboot & it's back.
Changing the click for a different/custom sound
Or after you have done step 4 you could copy a audio file In the ogg format & name it Effect_Tick.ogg & then reboot

[Q] Adding sound to an existing bootanimation

Ok so i'm just wondering if there is a way to go into an existing bootanimation file and add a wav file into the sequence of the description text file. And also where would you put the wav file in the zip file. Also can you do this without using ADB, not a big fan of it(meaning I don't know how to use it) It should just be as easy as throwing the file in the zip file and writing the new description text code to run it properly. Just I don't know how. please help
What ROM are you on? How did you get your current boot animation onto your phone w/o adb?
I used Ava-froyoZ2, and for the bootanimation i downloaded one put it on the root of my sdcard and then using root explorer i moved that file to /system/customize/resources then pasted it in there. So all i need to know is how to put a wav file in the bootanimation zip file and write the description text so it'll execute that file.
It's not a wave file it's mp3. It is also not part of the bootanomation zip, it is its own file. Search the forums for pushboot and use that. You should learn to use adb because from your questions in here you more than likely will boot loop your phone and have to nand restore just to get out of it. I have fixed bootloops with adb many times and I now only keep a solid backup of my rom once every 2 weeks.
Ok, secondly; With that rom or if it even is the rom, it doesn't allow me to put my phone in debugging. I have ADB blah blah blah just i'm not that good with CMD, but it never recognizes my phone due to that fact of the debugging. When I go into the settings I can check it and uncheck it. So I don't know what that problem could be.

[Q] Bootanimation.zip help please

I have been trying desperately to get my boot animation to change, and have made some success from just locking the device up to skipping the animation all together.
I can't seem to figure out what people mean when they say to save the desc.txt file as a UNIX file, but have been trying to use UTF-8 in Notepad++. This is what searching google has showed as the prefered *nix text file encoding. I even went so far as to just copy and paste the desc.txt file from one of the other zips on the device to my zip to get it to work, and no joy. So, I am not sure if this is the trouble or not.
This is on a Sprint lovers rom and I have put them in /data/animation. I had them in /system/customize/resource along with another spash screen, but it just ignored it there and went to the /data/animation ones. Or, maybe was using those all along. I am not sure.
So, I shall include my zip for scrutiny, and my audio for scrutiny as well. I have removed most of the images to get the zip down to size limits and stuffed the audio file in the zip as well.
I would like some hints on what I did wrong. I am trying to learn this stuff....
I use a program called Text Pad. It's free just search for it on Google. After creating the file hit "save as" name the file "desc" and at the bottom you will see a drop down menu labeled "file format" and it will give you the option to save as PC, UNIX, MAC. Choose UNIX. The second step is putting it all into a zip folder that isn't compressed. For this I use 7-Zip. Open 7 zip and highlight the desc file and the folders that have your animations. Next click the add button at the top menu, when the next window pops up you will be able to name the zip "bootanimation". Find the drop down menu labeled "compression level" and select "store", next find the drop down menu labeled "update mode" and select add and replace files. Last hit the ok button and your zip will be created and should be usable.
i have been dealing with the same thing all day but i got it to work the problem was that the png has to be no more than 24 bit i downloaded your zip and they are at 32 bit mine would not work at that rate i remade the png at 24 bit and all is well..hope this helps
you may also want to run png through pngoptimizer(google it) make sure you hit enter at the end of desc file then save. sound on system/custosimize/resource should be named SPC_animation_final.mp3 and zipped (storage)with same name (no mp3 should be).zip
see if this works for you
Will it boot?

I have a question about the kindle fires Bootanimation.zip
will the kindle still boot without the Bootanimation.zip or will it just lock up?
is there anyway to turn off the boot animation? I am running a jb rom and would really prefer it if there were no boot animation..

Try deleting sanim and bootanimation zips from /system/media.

[MOD] Enable Custom Boot Sounds MT4G/Glacier CM/AOSP

This is the same implementation as the g2 boot sound enabler with a few improvements.
i'm not responsible if you blah blah blah. don't be stupid, and don't flash things to your phone without realizing the possible risk. i haven't bricked a phone yet and don't plan on it.
DOWNLOAD:
View attachment bootsound-glacier-CM-signed.zip
MIRROR - Mediafire
This enables custom boot sounds. After flashing and rebooting you should be greeted with the all to famous "DROID" bootsound.
you will also have some new useful commands in terminal:
newbootsound - copies /sdcard/android_audio.mp3 as new bootsound
newbootanim - copies /sdcard/bootanimation.zip as new boot animation
bootsoundoff - turns boot sound off
bootsoundon - turns boot sound back on
Just files named accordingly on your sdcard's root i.e. 'bootanimation.zip' and 'android_audio.mp3'
Flash. Reboot. Enjoy.
Rom developers - feel free to include this in your builds if you so desire, please make sure credit is given accordingly to spiicytuna, mrdaviso, and myself.
if you're running a sense rom there's a totally different way of doing it so, should you be running sense... don't flash. or flash at your own risk, i can't guarantee the outcome.
untested... let me know if things go smoothly, the same process works for the evo g2 etc.. so shouldnt be an issue. make sure your media volume is up, some report if it's muted you wont hear it. (not sure about this, i guess it would be easy to test...)
Thanks this worked GREAT.
thanks worked great on cm7 rc2! so basically i can rename any sound file i want then overwrite the original? or does it have to be done through terminal? sorry for the ?? i am just learning
thanks again!
Terminal isn't required, but the sound you need to replace resides in /system/media so a file explorer with root access would be necessary.
not working?
i have tried this through root explorer and terminal. the outcome is correct in terminal... says that the new boot sound is there. I also was sure to check the volume. and still nothing? please help?
ya doesnt work on cm7 rc4 either
worked great for me ... except that the boot sound plays regardless of whether I have the volume down / muted / etc. before I reboot.
i'm on royalginger v1.5 which is based on cm7 nightly #31

why didn't you just IM me? el oh el
cos in my researching on the boards and also the other test builds I made - #31 was the most stable overall.
Ya can't seem to get it to work. The script seem to work fine but i think im applying the Audio file wrong can someone post an example? System/media. Running cm rc4
guys here is a manual method of unlocking boot audio...I got this from an older thread that was deleted for some odd reason..
anyway I did not make this script and I do not intend to take credit, but here is a manual way if all else fails.
1. download and rename the bootsnd.txt to bootsnd.sh and NOT bootsnd.sh.sh
2. place the file in the root of your sd card
3. use root explorer to set /system to r/w
4. open terminal type: su and hit enter to gain root priv,
5. type "cd /sdcard" with out the quotes to mount the sdcard root
6. type "sh bootsnd.sh" with out quotes and hit enter wait about 10 seconds then close terminal NOTE* YOU WILL NOT SEE ANY OUTPUT or confirmation! hit enter ONLY once unless you want to eat BOOTLOOPS for breakfast
7. with root explorer push android_audio.mp3 to /system/media
8. reboot and BOOM!
this does NOT work on sense roms, only works with AOSP (any cm builds) as far as I have tested.
I have included my own boot audio its a god of war 3 overture theme portion
now that is my work as I had to chop it up
unzip and rename it to android_audio.mp3 first before pushing it

[FIX] Browser and Ticker for CONTINUUM CLEAN ROM

I am still new at android, however I think I can finally give back some love after the awesome devs here have given us so much with our phones..
Here are the steps I took to fix the browser crash and FC issue in this ROM. My wife's continuum no longer has FC with browser and ticker is working 100%.
PLEASE READ THIS!
What I did may or may not work for your phone...every phone is different..make a nandroid backup, and be very careful what you are modifying.. i take no responsibility for borking or bricking your phone, all i know is these steps worked on the continuum my wife has. I strongly suggest that you follow all the instructions, however if the mighty devs see that something can be eliminated, please pipe up
OK on to the goodies..
you will need the following files and programs..
1. PROGRAM: root explorer (or other compatible file explorer that can change .apk permissions)
2. FILE: download the "alternate" browser fix to your SD card from the original post : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2056318/upda...te/browser.zip
Do the 3 finger salute to boot into RED CWM and flash the browser file you downloaded to your SD card.. reboot after flash..
OK.. open root explorer and make sure you select "MOUNT R/W" permissions from the top box.
1. navigate to the main root directory "/" .. and long press the DEFAULT.PROP file and scroll down the menu to select OPEN IN TEXT EDITOR..you will see 4 settings listed..make sure they are set to
ro.secure=1
ro.debuggable=0
persist.service.adb=0
ro.allow.mock.location=0
if not, change them to that and save it..if using root explorer it will auto save a backup to your card.
TURN OFF PHONE COMPLETELY AND REBOOT...
2. navigate to /SYSTEM/APP (make sure your MOUNT R/W is selected still) and long press the browser.apk file..from the menu select permissions.. they should look like this... with X meaning selected and O meaning not selected..
IMPORTANT NOTE!!! if you have to change any of the settings in permissions for any of these files you MUST hit OK at the bottom after the change or it will not stick and will cancel if you use the "back" button instead of hitting OK..
X X 0
X 0 0
X 0 0
3. scroll to top and select parent folder twice to get back to main root directory "/" and then go into /DATA/DATA and long press the file "com.android.browser" select permissions and make sure they are like this..
X O X
O O X
select OK and then
4. select parent folder twice to get back to root "/".. navigate to /DBDATA/DATABASES/ and long press "com.android.browser" and select permissions to look like this..
O O X
select OK and then...
POWER OFF PHONE AND REBOOT...
when reboot is complete, pull the battery for 30 seconds...reinsert battery and boot..
problem was solved after making those changes..
IF YOUR TICKER IS NOT WORKING..
go to settings/sound and display
deselect auto brightness, powersaving mode and grip sensor..
the ticker started working immediately after exiting settings, and the browser fix connected to the feeds and opened like normal..
It would be better if you posted this in the Clean ROM thread instead of opening a separate thread, that way it stays linked with the ROM it is intended for and doesn't clutter up the board.
Nice work, btw...

[Q] Change dictionary default

hi. I'm trying to change the default dictionary in kindle fire, as it has no options for you to add or change any dictionary, im trying modificate system file
/ system / etc / labdictionary
substituting B003ODIZL6.prc
when I finish it works perfectly but if i reboot my kindle return with old dictionary o appers anything
someone could make the change dictionary?
i follows this instructions replace dictionary kindle fire, but the last part say:
"Tap the Clipboard icon and choose "Paste". Long tap the new "B003ODIZL6.prc" file and choose "More" – "Properties" – "Permissions: Change". Set the permissions like this and click "OK" to confirm."
but i cant see the image, there is no photo explaining
thanks for help, and im sorry for my bad english :good:
I suggest looking at the properties of the old file, the one that gets renamed to *.bak, and make the new file match those permissions. The instructions at that part are not clear, but what I posted should work.
I already tried and does not work
that part es confused, and i dont know its really work, i mean it work but not permanently
When you are finished, you should change the paths back to their original settings. He does not say this, but that area should not be left R/W. I think it should be mounted read only.
yes, i tried too, leave everything like original, and its the same, root explorer and properties
if i change for the original oxford dictionary and reboot, appears agains in english
Is the file changed in the directory when you reboot?
when put spanish dictionary, works. but and reboot and the dictionary doesnt work, the archive is there but when used dont see anything
when put original archive and reboot appears again english dictionary
Well, the guide is missing something. Native Kindle Fire users are all complaining that it cannot change dictionaries. It seems to me a rooted device should handle it. Need more file info.
